K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	How long is the K-1 visa valid upon issuance..	Your fiancee must enter the US within 6 months of the visa issuance You must get married within 90 days or her entry to the US There is no particular period in which the fiance(e) (now spouse) must file for AOS. The AOS can be filed any time after marriage and an official marriage certificate is obtained. It need not ne "immediately" after. i didn't write those answer myself which was also why i gave that particular link.... if number 3 is not correct per the link... then why is it there? or maybe it shoulb be rephrased to say YOU SHOULD file for.....or THE NEXT STEP is.... Hey Folks, Just wanted to know how long is the K-1 visa valid upon issuance... and once a fiance enters , does she have to apply for AOS before the expiration of the visa , or 3 months after her entrance into US... Please advise... thanks http://www.visajourn...sa-outline.html 3.Once you have the K1 Visa it is good for only one entry into the United States within 6 months of the issue date. A K2 Visa holder (child of K1 Visa holder) may enter up to one year after the K1, but a K2 Visa holder may not enter the U.S. prior to the K1. 4. Once in the United States, you have 90 days to get married (see "Special Note" at question 3.7) 5. Immediately after marriage, you must apply for an Adjustment of Status, Form I-485, to become a permanent resident. You may also apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) to work (required until your I-485 is approved) and "advance parole" in case you want to travel outside the United States and re-enter before getting your green card (I-485 approval). (sounds like you aren't engaged yet by saying your doing the engagement next year)the k1 visa is for those that are already engaged to be married and are just waiting on the approval of the visa to come to the country to do the marriage. all the engagement info should be submitted with the k1 application... Nikah can only be done after the approval and the arrival of the beneficiary... you can't do nikah before the approval of k1 visa...you have to marry in the states and do nikah in the states if you file k1 visa If you do nikah before getting visa to come here you file a CR1 visa instead of K1 please clarify a bit more ? Ive even seen cases that they have slowed down the process because they have other things to do besides your immigration case AND sometimes if you don't hire the right one... they actually create issues... The pakistan embassy is quite strict when it comes to affidavit of support either for i 134 or the i 864 which we used. They almost wouldnt' allow my 401k assets until i could prove they were not job related. I don't know the answer for k1 visa but my suggestion would be email the embassy and inquire or call them and ask. Also, research this on vj using the search options... good luck... I wish you good luck for a sucessful interview. Not always... if you look at our portal you will see that there are those that go without having AP... most are women but some are men only waiting for visa for a week or two as ISL does not issue Visa same day they always send it courier.. but agreed best of luck for interview... All you can do is try to prepare as much as possible with all your documentation showing everything about your relationship etc. Our Ap is mostly due to the country but we sent everything and my husband carried lots and lots of proof but in the end the CO asked for my apartment lease and a clear statement saying who lives in our household... we covered that with my taxes (showing my dependents) and my i864 (clearly stating the number in my household) but they requested another specific document which we had no idea they would ask for otherwise we would have sent that as well. (we didnt sent the apt lease bcos it had nothing to do with my husband and me since they wont add him until he comes here and shows proof of who he is etc so it wasnt something we thought important) we sent financial docs showing him as paid on death etc bcos again until he is here we cant add to checking, utilities, or anything until he has a SSN Do your best to prepare but you can't prepare for everything... sometimes the unexpected comes... Get Affadavits from people who know about your relationship... if he's in the military see if his commanding officer will also write one... have several of them from different people telling about his trips etc and your relationship have them notarized. photos of anything you have as well... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	putting ssn @ risk???	everybody going thru this process is concerned bout identity theft but if we want our spouse/SO here we all have had to send our info with SSN.... its a given they want to see that information. So yeah you have to send it. If it's at the interview your talking about then they already have it.. with all the other information you sent... taxes, forms etc... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Administrative Processing	my interview was march 10.2011 and CO. was asked to submit some documents and i submitted the documents and it was accepted on May 20, 2011. Now my question is when does my Administrative Processing start from March 10 or May 20. .... i m still waiting for my visa please i need answer rafi... i specifically asked this of DOS just a week or two ago.. we also had to submit docs but ours were sent right away within a few days of our interview june 15th. The ap begings at interview BUT... i can tell you this... it takes time to review the docs at least a few weeks...ours took 5 weeks...I have seen it take months to accept new docs this could be the case with you...... then once they are satisfied with this THEN they do name checks... they won't do the name checks until evthing is settled .. they wont waste the time n effort if they are going to deny you anyway so that said.. count on your docs being accepted by the end of june and name checks beginning sometime in july/aug early.. if they did them.. they also may be looking at other things not just name checks... it wont be long for you im sure... Call DOS and ask them for updates and what the dates were for updates... ask them if the fbi report has been finalized... two weeks ago we asked this and were told not yet still working on that... good luck	EAbbas	Female	Pakistan	2011-11-20 13:11:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING	plse i wanna knw if anybody has gone 2ru this at the Ghana embassy. i went for interview and they asked me to go again on another date wt more proof of relationship and a joint sponsor. they told me our case is in administrative processing. i wanna knw if they said administrative processing becus of the thns they asked for or for sm other reasons. wht can my fiance and i do abt it. we r gathering more evidence though bt i wanna knw is there is antythn else we can do. either by him emailing them and asking y administrative processing. Ur suggestions r welcomed, thank u IDK about Ghana but I can tell you when they need more information such as documents they put you in Admin Processing until the info is complete and the case is complete at the embassy.....they usually give you a 221g form that says they need more info and your case is in Admin processing... Once you submit the documents and they are reviewed unless there is anything else such as us..(we hve name checks to complete now) then if the CO is satisfied they can complete the Admin process and issue visa good luck... If they do sent it back to you ... you should be able to go to your bank and sign it (if they haven't stamped it with anything) by writing... NOT USED FOR INTENDED PURPOSES and sign your name and deposit in your bank. Sometimes you have to do something different with western union etc.. but just read the fine print... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Text Message History	Can you not print out a few pages from each of your billing statements if you get them? that's what we did.. we didn't print every single thing but we took a few pages from each billing cycle and it showed text coming in and text going out to our phone numbers so while it didn't show the actual texts it showed all the phone calls and texts that we sent.. I filed back in July, every month up until now the average was 5 now I'm on the last month of the 5 and its saying 12.8 months, does this still pertain to me so I need to now wait an additional 7.8 months or is this for people who just filed recently? I've already received my receipt number You wait until they send you the NOA2 approving the petition and moving it to NVC.. It's so hard to tell what the avg processing times are but usually between 5-7 months... for the approval of the petition you sent to USCIS.. you still have to go thru NVC (for k1 visa's its only to obtain a case number and for CR1 to be completed for NVC and to assign your interview date) Then you have to go to the interview and that all depends upon how soon the embassy/or NVC can get a date scheduled for you so your still looking at @8-12 months (more or less all depends on many variables)	EAbbas	Female	Pakistan	2011-12-11 14:39:00

I do hope you two can get past the misunderstanding before your K1 visa expires. It is only good for traveling before the expiration date so I am not sure what you mean when you ask if it will still be good in the future. Chynna It has an expiration date. It can not be used beyond that date of expiry so yes... if you don't travel by then you won't do it with this visa you will have to apply for another one. Just call DOS once a week and keep tabs on the info... keep a call log so you can kind of see what's going on... In our beginning we had to submit new docs and so when we called we were in standard review then it switched over to AP (we were told at that time by the CO that they couldnt tell us we were approved technically but our case was fine and nothing to worry about and the name checks had to be done now that they were satisfied with our info and relationship) now they are saying its in review again so I pray they are putting all the name check info back with the case and looking everything over now to make thier final decision but only time will tell. good luck to you	EAbbas	Female	Pakistan	2011-12-01 18:22:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Missing my fiance so much	some days its bearable.. other days its heartbreaking literally and ive cried many many tears and cried myself to sleep many nights... but the reality is.. we did fall in love with someone from pakistan and that reality is that extra security checks must be done. In the end we will get thru this.. they will complete these checks and each minute, hour, day week and month behind us is that much closer to our loved ones. When these security checks come back and their visa received and they enter the POE they can hold their heads high knowing they did the immigration process the right way and going thru every thing they must to prove their eligibility and for that we can all be proud that we didnt try to get around it or go thru it faster.. we went thru the struggles to find our happily ever after.. and we all will have it.. some may be sooner some may be longer but we all will have it... It's the love we share that keeps us strong The fact he's traveled outside of pakistan may simply be part of his ap that they want to check... but i would advise now not for him to make any more out of the country travels as it could make them redo ap for that reason to check about his travel again. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Missing my fiance so much	Hi all my name is Poonwattie, I am the fiancee of Mohsin,well its abt 5 30 am and I cant sleep so i decided to visit VJ, just to get my mind off things Mohsin had his interview on Nov 28th,and as most of u knw he was put on AP,and also I need to send him another co-sponsor,now that's not the problem, that will be done asap,these CO at the embassy have been doing this for a long time, then y cant they see when a relationship is so true? Its like they are playing god with ppls lives, Mohsin and I have been apart for almost 3 yrs, and I am at the end of my rope, i just want to be with him,, Is that too much to ask for? Now my question is that while he is on AP, if I move to Pakistan to stay with him, would that harm his case? Its just a thought,right now i am over come with disappointment and missing my fiance. Awwww ( I can totally relate... we've been on ap for 5 1/2 months now still waiting... feels like we are closer sometimes and then other times it feels soo far away! It wouldn't hurt your case but I wouldn't rush into a major life decision based on the ap... unless of course it takes years. You would still need to have domicile here in usa to be able to bring him here. They also asked us for another documents which we submitted and it took them almost 6 weeks to review and call me for phone interview. The CO told me at that time that our case was fine we had nothing to worry about and our relationship is genuine but he did have mandatory ap which required name checks thru washington. They began that in August and a month ago we had our congressman make an inquiry and the reply was we were in normal processing and last week DOS told me that nothing of our case is in usa its all at embassy for reviewing so I'm hoping that we are closing in on the end of it. From everything Ive read... 50% of cases requiring ap finish within 2 months.. majority within 6 months and only a few lasting longer.. some of the ap cases we hear about here on VJ that last over a year there are issues that are out of the ordinary or it could be a family visa waiting on a visa to become available. sometimes these stories only give us a small amount of info and it scares us when there may be larger issues behind the longer ap that we may never know. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Something weird with my case at NVC - suggestions?	My case was received by NVC from USCIS@CSC on November 23rd. I called, got a case number and was told it was in processing. I call again a few days later, they say it is done processing, now it was just waiting to be sent to the embassy. Sounds normal so far. I call again about 1.5 weeks ago (early December, maybe 1st or 2nd). They tell me it is undergoing additional processing again. I asked about the previous status, the guy on the phone said he had no idea. A few more calls and it was always the same thing, additional processing, and no idea about why it was previously finished. On Friday, the guy puts me on hold for 5 minutes after searching and then tells me the same thing. Today, a different fellow blurts out something about it being "under review", then he shuts up really fast and goes back on script about additional processing. I know I am probably getting paranoid, I'm long since out of patience with this entire process, but it sounds like something is going on and the phone reps are not telling me. Based on the timelines, it should have left NVC already. Does anyone have some suggestions on who else I could call, or what might be up? A friend of mine was stuck for almost 3 months at nvc but once everything was finished at the interview they received the visa within a couple of weeks after interview.. if nothing else look at it this way.. your doing ap now instead of after the interview... good luck hope it completes soon	EAbbas	Female	Pakistan	2011-12-13 06:46:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	thanks god	From my understanding you need to send the requested evidence along with the paper that they sent asking for it (your original RFE paper) I would make copies of that RFE paper and copies of what you need to send. I think the RFE has a special number on it that goes with your case and because of that they want the evidence and the RFE paper together when you send it. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	depressed While being on AP please help & advice needed	Hello Eabbas, wht a day i had i called my accountant, he told me he dont see a way that i can file taxes since i dont currantly have an income then i told him that i will contact IRS to be on the safe side, I was on the phone with them for over one hour and then i was advised that I can file 1040EZ form and they will process it, so now that I have that all cleared up I hope that the embassy will accept that because its just two pages form and there is no W2 to go with it, however thanx so much for all ur help, I will keep u posted abt the progress. that;s good info and if you include the other pages we talked about this morning that should be complete the tax issues they have. Even if someone isn't working has IRS tax it was shattering for me hear that how petitioner and joint sponsor both have to submit tax papers simultaneously I'm much distracted I will email the embassy and how did your senator contact the embassy through the same embassy email how and I know u well emmy my fiancee told me she talked to u through text and I'm not very far from adeel I reside nearby him thanks Even if she can't financially sponsor you she still has to submit those papers. She is still considered the MAIN sponsor and then the co sponsor is the one that is that is showing financial ability... maybe that clarifies a bit? so yes every person calling their loved one even if they have no income has to submit tax papers etc...
