i already have my MNL number.. my fiance called NVC for it..and we're still awaiting for an email telling us if the package is on its way to USE..

what are the things that i can possibly do now? and when do i pay for the $131?

what i meant was, what numbers should i call? i'm confused if i should connect my call to the immigrant or non immigrant visa unit.

Hi! you may call NSO at 9267333 and look for PJ or Richard (but I like PJ kc he's more accomodating). Btw if you ask for PJ make it sound like you are his friend...so that they will give it to PJ right away. Then give him your complete name and the date when delbros send the request. Better txt first delbros at their hotline (where you confirmed your payment) then give them your case number, ask them when did they sent your document verification request. It usually takes 1-2wks after your payment b4 they send the request to NSO. And it will take another 1-4 wks before NSO finished the process. I guess yours is done already because I paid mine June 26 and its done with NSO on Aug 1. biggrin.gif

You mean your NOA2 validity? it would be ideal to get an interview date within that period (most people would even try to get the earliest possible interview date) but if there is a reason why you would opt for an interview date later, the NOA2 validity can be extendded.


thanks! i just had to make sure. i was supposed to be interviewed last june 19 but unfortunately i had problems with the medical exam and slmec told me that i do not have to show up on my interview date because i still have to complete the sputum exam first which they also scheduled on my date of interview. do i have to do anything for the validity to be extended?

i was scheduled for the interview last august 29. this was my second interview date, because the original date was supposed to be in june 19. but due to more medical exam requirements (SPUTUM CULTURE - which turned out negatiive after 2 months!) i had to go back to st lukes for the second time and finish the remaining med exams, w/c i was eventually cleared for it, thank God!

it was fortunate that on august 29, there weren't too many ppl in the embassy since it was a specially scheduled interview date for persons who had extended medical exam. meaning, our interview date was arranged by st lukes. we were only like 50-60 interviewees. i was scheduled for the 7am interview and i got there at 6am (after a long ride from las pinas).

it wasn't as complicated as i thought. after entering the gates of the embassy, we were asked to sit down in a waiting area, lined accdg to our interview times and wait for some time. then it was time to go inside the embassy. sit down and wait again.

1st counter - this was where our numbers were given. since i am a k1 applicant, it was on that counter where i submitted my DS forms (156, 156k (with the $131 bank validation), 157) and a number was given in return. remember that the numbers are not called in numerical order in the counters, so u have to watch the board where the numbers are posted very closely. if you don't come right away to the counter you are called, the workers get pissed.

then i was called to COUNTER 14, for reasons i do not know. maybe this was just a check or some sort. than i was made to wait again. my number was 7001, maybe numbers staring with 7 are for k1 or k3 applicants only. as for immigrants, their numbers started with 6 or 5.

waiting game again.. until i was called to COUNTER 19 with a filipina behind the counter. she asked for the affidavit of support, paystubs of my fiance, pictures, evidences and other stuff. she didn't ask me for my ^%)php payment because the embassy already received my doc verification since i paid last june 10. she asked me several questions like:

1. what is my name, age, birthday, birth date
2. my fiance's name, age, birthday, address, birthdate
3. when was the last time he was in pinas, and what are the dates of all the trips he made to pinas
4. when did i meet my fiance? - this question was a short one since i told her i met my fiance way back in college.
5. how long we were dating?

then after answering all those questions, i sat down and waited again until my name was called out to go to COUNTER 16 for FINGER PRINTING. after finger printing, i waited again for my interview room. for my case i was interviewed at room 31. don't forget to promptly check the numbers flashing on the screen.

i was interviewed by an american young lady, ithink she was in her early 30s.. she asked the same questions as stated above and some extras like what as my fiance's work? she was very nice but not so warm (which i didn't mind coz she was not rude anyway). she tried to read our emails and she laughed because our emails were usually in our dialect (ilonggo) and it was all greek to her. lol. laughing.gif

after the interview, all she said was congratulations and good luck. and she instructed me to wait outside for further instructions. that instruction was to wait to be called and go to COUNTER 37 for releasing and i was given a pink slip no0pb.gif and instructed to go to the delbros counter to pay for the delivery fee for 250php.

as early as 9.30 i was released with a pink slip,a smile on my face and a relieved feeling that the interview was over..

as for now: i am waiting for the delbros guy to show up so that i can get my visa package.

after that my fiance and i will arrange for my plane ticket.. we are deciding on a jan 29, 2009 flight so i can spend the holidays with my family and by that time, my fiance's back in the US after his deployment in russia.

i just got my visa, but the problem is they only gave me nov 15, 2008 as expiration date.originally, we both planned that i should leave on january because that will be the time that my fiance is done with his deployment. but because of this new development, we had to change plans and act fast!

so we are planning my flight on nov 11, then my inlaws would be the one picking me up at the airport. will i be able to file for an SSN, get a driver's license in my maiden name while waiting for my fiance to arrive at the states?? any help or tips are highly appreciated.. thank you!

Check here to find the SS office near you. Your fiance will most likely know where it is. You can also download the form beforehand. You will probably not be able to get a driver's license until you have either your EAD or your GC. NC-DMV requires proof of immigration status but they will not accept the NOA. Perhaps you can try with your I-94 and see if they will issue a DL even if it expires in a few months.

Didn't SLEC tell you that they will be the one to schedule your interview? There were some people during our medical who had medical problems and SLEC personnel told them that they will be the one who will schedule the interview when all exams would be done and result would be satisfactory.

Try asking SLEC when you call go for your result. Hope everything will be ok with your medical.

idk, they said my xray looks suspicious... i was supposed to catch up on my fiancee before he gets deployed... but hell he got deployed already so we just have to wait until the deployment is over.. mad.gif

i just saw your post on my medical woes topic.. after 3 days of sputum exam, you will have to wait for 2 months upon the release of the results of your sputum exam. but don't worry, once it is all clear, st. lukes will be the one to schedule for your interview, that is 2 days after you have completed your medical exam..

that has one advantage though, the embassy will not be as crowded as the usual days. the only interviewees on that date will be all of the applicants who experienced delays due to their med exam..

i am feeling the same way right now. i'm leaving on november. i intended to leave on january because by nov, my fiance will still be at russia for his deployment. but sad to say, the expiration date of my visa is until nov 15. so i have to leave by nov 11.

i cry almost every night because i feel sad that i am leaving my fam esp my 10 year old sister whom i am very attached to. and my dad left for work (abroad too) last september so that's the last time i saw him until the time i come back here in pinas after a few years in the states.

i'm happy that i am finally bound for the US but at the same time i feel very sad.

hi everyone.. at last i am leaving for the US on november 11 via PAL to LA. i have few questions on my mind though..

1. VACCINATION

i had my vaccination last august(during the medical) and i was advised to have another shot of the MMR after 2 months (that's by the end of october).. do i have to get the shot or i can just do it in the states??

2. CFO
does the new NAIA (w/c has the PAL flights) have a CFO booth?

3. BAGGAGE
how much is the baggage limit for PAL? i intend to bring me one suitcase and one carry on only.

and if there are any more things you would like to share with me about traveling to the US the first time, it would be a lot of help! or maybe there are some of you who'll be leaving on the same date as mine, that would be great!

hi everybody!

i'm leaving in 4 weeks (but i dread it haha, just ask me why lol) but i still have no idea what to pack besides the usual stuff: birth certificate, diplomas and toiletries..

my mommy tells me everyday that i should start packing but i feel clueless..

help me out pleaseeee.....

and i have no luck in finding an active thread for those who are leaving this november. it would be great if i find somebody who's here in VJ and who is gonna have the same flight as mine. whistling.gif

i have to agree with jhamel..

if u want a hotel that is ACTUALLY near the embassy, you should try out SORIENTO. only 15-20 steps away from the embassy. it's a very simple hotel but very convenient. the outside part looks old but the rooms are decent enough, because they just renovated them. i was there last may. my parents and i got a room with two beds (with a lot of space too!) and we only paid 1800/night.

but i tell you soriento is the most accessible hotel near st lukes. u may just have to eat at robinsons though because soriento only provides rooms.. but if u intend to fall in line at slec at 4am, then this is your best bet.
