QUOTE (G&A @ Jan 4 2008, 12:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I requested first available date (sent in my check list on dec 31st) and i got Jan 23rd. By the your timeline, it doesnt appear that you received packet 3 from vancouver yet. they are scheduling interviews now not far off from the date you are looking for. i dont think you will have a prob getting in around the time you want. Maybe request "frist available appointment after feb 10th" for example.

Thanks so much G&A...
Our packet 3 was mailed out yesterday. We should receive it soon. Thanks for the example, much clearer now.

Has anyone ever requested a specific interview date at the consulate in Vancouver? I'm just wondering if we could request a specific date(middle of February) when we fax our checklist back? Or, how would we go about this?

We dont have to do dial the area code if you're dialing within edmonton or its surrounding cities....

My fiance called, and apparently the doctor will be gone the entire month of February? He will have to wait until march for the medical if he wants it done in edmonton. We are now checking into Calgary. Bigger expense, but we want the medical out of the way.

CanadaCanadian vehicle loan...
QUOTE (Krikit @ Jan 14 2008, 02:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Honestly, you're better off purchasing the vehicle in the US. They are so much cheaper here. We just bought a Nissan in November. In order to get the 2.9% financing the dealer just called someone at Nissan Canada for a copy of my credit report. He said it wasn't a problem.

I also imported a car from Canada. It's not that big of a deal. But I didn't have any liens against it so I have no idea how that impacts importation. I believe there is someone on the board who did have a lien, and all they did is continue to make their car payments from here. One other thing to note.... if the car is purchased within a certain period of time prior to importation (I think it's one year) you are subject to import duty. Anything older than that and it's not a problem.

Thanks Krikit...

Did you get the car in your name alone or was your so name on the loan also? My fiances credit is perfect in canada, and we too also thought about having a dealership just pull his credit report, but we are worried about him not having a job for at least 3 months after he enters the country. Do you think that him not having a job will make a difference when trying to get a car loan?

Being that my fiance will have no credit in the U.S. when he arrives, we were wondering if he could (take out a loan) in canada for a vehicle before he enters the States. Is this possible? We have heard that a person can not have a lein on a vehicle if driving it across the border. Is this true? If not, how would we go about making payments from the U.S.?

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

That's my understanding... A simple phone call to the lender thought might help! I called Honda Finance in Canada and they told me that there was no way I could take my car across the border with a lein on it.. and no way to transfer to Honda Finance USA. Unless he could get an unsecured loan on a cheaper car! smile.gif

I wanted to get imput here first, as I always do before investigating further. Yeah, calling a lender in Canada will be the next step. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. smile.gif

QUOTE (Udella&Wiz @ Jan 21 2008, 01:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Which Dr are you going to? Some of the panel physician's in Canada provide a copy of teh vaccine supplement?

Is he really missing that many? Most folks growing up in Canada have had them all or are maybe missing an adult tetnus or something

He is from New Zealand, and has had none, zero, zilch. Sounds odd to me too. He will be seeing the doctor in Edmonton.

When the time comes to adjust status, and we need proof of the vaccines that he received...I guess we will just have the docs office fax proof of some sort. I have no idea about any of this stuff, or if we even need proof. It is completely foreign to me. But I decided today that I am no longer going to worry about any of it any longer. We'll cross bridges when we come to them.

My fiance goes for his medical and vaccines in a few days. He will be receiving all of his vaccines during the medical. When we go to adjust his status after he enters the states, he will have to get a second series of shots, because he will not have time to get them while in canada, because the interview date is so close.

How will we prove to the doctors in the united states what shots he still will need? Should my fiance ask for a copy of the vaccines that he will receive during the medical, for adjustment of staus?

How were the documents not "offical" enough? You probably should not have mailed them, but took them with you to your next appointment.

Try putting your case number in the subject line of your email and see if this helps.

We were notifed yesterday by the doctor in Edmonton that they are no longer mailing out medical forms and xrays. We have to find some way to pick them up. Canadavaccination supplement question...
Question for you guys....

When my fiance had his medical in edmonton canada, he was never given a copy of the Form DS-3025(vaccination documentation worksheet?)

All he has is his BC Health passport listing his mmr shot and his Alberta adult immunization card, listing his tetnus shot and the date given.

My question is...
Will we have trouble getting the vaccination info. put onto the vaccination suplement form I-693A Without the info. being on form DS-3025 first?

I have read on here some where that there is a CS doctor in Texas that will transfer info. onto I-693A For A Small fee. All we have to do is fax the info. to them. I just don't know if faxing the immunization card, and BC health passport (which is the only thing showing the immunizations given) will be sufficient.

Any info/imput would be much appreciated.

CanadaVisa Granted!!!!
Muz’s Visa was granted!!

Our interview was on April 17th at 1:00 p.m. in Vancouver. That morning several hours before, we went over our check list. We put everything in the exact order that the consulate would request it, or so we thought.

After we checked and re checked our paper work, we left our hotel and ate breakfast. Muz became more nervous as 1:00 came closer and closer. I was a bit nervous as well, but hid it as best I could.

We left for the consulate about 12:10. By the time we parked and walked to the consulate it was about 12:35. (note) the day before we did a test run to the consulate just to make sure we knew where we were going. We parked in front of the consulate and walked over to the main door. We asked the guard about remote control built into our car key. He said that it would be fine to bring in. Had we not been aloud, we figured that we would take a taxi.)

We arrived about 12:35. No line at all. We went through the door and came to the first check point. We both had to show our pass ports as well as the appointment letter. We had brought with us a ton of evidence, including 3 albums of photos that Muz had taken weeks to create, cards, phone records, emails, scrap books etc. We had to empty our pockets, and then go through a medal detector.

We then went up a flight of stairs and went through a door. We were then ushered onto an elevator and taken to the 20th floor. When we got off of the elevator, we went threw another check point. The same procedure. We then went threw another door and sat down in a waiting area.

Within a few minutes, we were called to a window. The order in which we had placed our documentation was not in the order in which they requested it. They did not even request half of what we brought. They first asked for my divorce decree from a previous marriage. (They did not need my original marriage certificate), affidavit of support and OF-167 and tax transcripts. (They didn’t ask to see my original birth certificate.) They asked for Muz’s divorce decree and marriage certificate from a previous marriage, ds156 duplicate, ds156k ,birth certificate, medical, police certificates and receipt for payment, $131 I believe? They did not need his xray.

After they collected the paper work, we were told to take a seat in the waiting area and would be called for finger printing around 2:00. We sat there for about an hour. Now I could be wrong about this, but there are two cameras in the waiting area. I believe that we were being observed for the entire hour we were sitting there waiting to be finger printed. I’ll tell you why, in just a sec.

Muz of course loves to talk and laugh. At times it is non stop. lol…He is affectionate by nature. Of course this was displayed as we were sitting there. We appeared to be happy. Because we are!!

Around 2:00 we heard Muz’s name called to window B. We went to window B and there was a nice lady behind the glass. We assumed he was going to be finger printed at that point. The lady had a smile on her face and asked me (the petitioner) how we met. I told her. Then I was asked what I did for a living. Then she asked Muz what he did for a living. After she asked Muz what he did for a living, it hit me. Could this be the interview?
We both thought he was going to be finger printed, and then the interview would take place.

When we both finally realized that the interview had just taken place, Muz cracked a joke and said, you’re going to at least look at our albums aren’t you? She smiled and shrugged her shoulders and said, “if you insist”. She flipped through one page and closed it.

She read aloud as she typed into her computer that we were an extremely, extremely happy couple. I guess they have to type in the findings of the interview and such. Like I said, I believe that we were being observed the entire time we were sitting in the waiting area. So for anyone, interviewing at the Vancouver consulate, or anywhere for that matter….be sure to talk and converse with your SO as you wait in the waiting area. And if I’m totally off base with my theory, so be it. She had no idea that we were an extremely, extremely happy couple just by a 2 minute interview. We were being observed!

After the 2 minute interview, we were told that we needed to go and by a large express post envelope. We left the consulate and went across the street to Canada post. We then went Back to the consulate, went through the same two check points back to the 20th floor. Muz was then finger printed, and we presented the envelope.

Before we left, we were given a copy of Muz’s vaccination record from dr. chanas office. I believe this is the ds 230? For adjustment of status when he gets to the states.

That was it. We received an email yesterday from the consulate. Muz’s visa has been shipped. ?

Easy peasy……

Canadaport of entry question...
Hello everyone...

I have a quick question. Muz and I made entry into the states from Canada on Thursday(We drove across into couts Montana). Our experience was absolutely horrible. We were treated as if we were common criminals by a female border patrol guard. I'll write more about our experience when I have more time.

Our concern is this...

After Muz's visa was activated, I ask the guard what exactly would happen to the packet that the consulate had given muz. (the white packet that was habded over at the border)

The guard stated that the packet would sat there at the port of entry. I was schocked. I was under the impression that it would be sent to our local office? california service center? Anywhere but being kept there?

what exactly happens to the packet that is surrenedered at the border? If it does end up staying at the port of entry, what will happen when we go to adjust status?

Thanks

My Husband had his medical in january. He received all of the needed vaccines for his age group. Am I undederstanding the new form I-693 correctly....my husband will now have to have a TB skin test and blood work? all of this will have to be added to the the I-693 worksheet as well as the vaccines he currently has received?

So it is pointless to go with Dr. Arnolds office in Texas to complete the vaccination supplement to adjust status because he now needs more shots?

CanadaDS 3025 QUESTION
We contacted Dr. Arnold's office about having my husbands vaccinations transcribed. The secretary was very informative. I also asked her if she had heard anything regarding the tb test etc. now being required. She said that they have not been informed of any new changes.

Yesterday I was getting together all the paper work to send off for my husband to their office and realized that we may not have his DS 3025 form. All we were given was a form with all of the vaccinations that he received. At the top of the sheet it says... VACCINATION DOCUMEMTATION MEDICAL WORKSHEET TWO

Then it has his name, exam date, DOB, passport number, alien case number...Then the list of vaccinaations received. Then at the bottom the doctors signature.

Nowhere on the form does it say DS 3025.

Is this the DS 3025 worksheet?

He had his medical done in Canada.

I have talked to various dual Can/AM people that live in the US. Some which were born in Canada, some that have their Canadian citizenship derived from a Canadian parent but all have basically lived and grown up in the US. The majority of them identify themselves as an American and being considered a Canadian as well is more of a novelty notion than an identity for them.

Thoughts anyone?

If your son is going to be raised in The United States, chances are, (hopefully) he will become the patriotic american. This is not a bad thing. One should have great pride and love for the country in which they live and are apart of. However, I think it is important for your son to also have ties to Canada as well. Canada is as much a part of his roots as the United States will be.
My fiance and I discuss this very issue often. My fiance is originally from New Zealand and currently lives in Canada. We do not have children yet, but when we do.....they will learn of their New Zealand heritage as well. I think that it is extremely important. I think that children are done a great injustice by being deprived of their roots. smile.gif

Hello again everyone.

I visit this site daily. After reading thousands of post, I have a few questions that I have wanted to ask for a while now.

What is the RFE trick that so many people talk about on here?

Can someone explain to me what biometrics is?

What is an infopass appointement exactly? When is this needed?

I feel silly for asking these question, but if I don't ask,I will never know. smile.gif

Thanks

Steph
