K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUsing Nickname on letters/cards to Fiance (k1 visa)

Same issue here. What we did is on documents requesting "Other names used", we put NICKNAME; Jito (for hubby) and NICKNAME; Kelly (for me) just in case...

I never wrote it down on any application like(N400)since i have never used my nickname on legal documents.

Funny - my husband is known as Chas too (obviously not his legal name). So all our correspondence had Chas on it too - we had no problems whatsoever.

Thanks a lot, Tracy!!! :D Few persons named Chas or Chaz i know are all guys. :blush:Your husband has a cool name! Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUsing Nickname on letters/cards to Fiance (k1 visa)
Hi everyone!I will be petitioning my fiance using K1 visa soon and was reading all the requirements...I have known my fiance since i was in gradeschool and he calls me by my nickname "Chaz", (L) My family and my close friends would adress me using my nickname but i have never used my nickname on legal documents. My question is, All the letters we wrote to each other was signed as Chaz. And i know letters/cards are one of the key evidences to establish our relationship. Would our case get in trouble because of my nickname? :( All response and comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow many is too many?

I only sent about 5 photos, but I joined it with a receipt or proof of a place we had been...for example: photos of us in Philadelphia or New York City coupled with train tickets, restaurant receipts or gas receipts to show proof of the dates. I also sent a sampling of emails or cards detailing key moments in the relationship to show a progression of events. I went down the list on the I 129F and only sent a few items of each example - my final packet was nearly 1 inch thick, though. I also labeled everything and put the items in separate see-thru pockets....organized the whole thing according to my cover letter...and we were approved without any problems or RFE's. :)

When we went to HK i didnt saved our receipts although i can provide copy of my credit card summary that shows account activity in HK.I did saved our boarding pass tickets and itinerary and have lots of letters/cards , skype calls, pics to establish our relationship.Thank you so much!Posted Image

You will get lots of good advice here about that and many others may have equal or better approaches to this.
What I did was take about 30 - 36 digital pics and present them on a regular 8-1/2 x 11 in. plain paper on an
MS-Word document. I opened a pic in photoshop and copied it to the clipboard and then pasted it into Word.
That way I could get about 4 on a page, with my own custom captions. I printed them on a laserjet color
printer in the office. Many at home have color printers. You may want to make individual shots that you can
print cheaply for 25 cents each at CVS or wherever. If they don't already have dates, you should put the
date & caption on the back.

You can have more or less than I did. Most were of us together but others were with us and her family.
Best of luck.

Thats what i am planning to do, My fiance actually suggested it, He's more techy than i am...lol...more pics but less number of pages, easier for them to read too coz they dont have to flip the picture to read the caption...Thanks a lot!:)

Who did the visiting in the 2yr period prior to the 129F petition? If you both did, you only need yours, if he just did, then show his.

You don't really need letters at this stage, as PushBrk talked about. But if your the petitioner - just concentrate on your stuff.

Engagement receipts? not needed for the initial petition. Your fiance can take them with him to the interview (where they look for a bonafide relationship).

I arrived here in the US 4/22/2005, i came home in the Phil Dec 2006 until January 2007 to visit and then another trip last year Feb 2009 till March 2009, we both went to HK for a short trip and before i came back here, he proposed to me. I am always the one visiting since its so hard for Filipinos to get a tourist visa. Thanks!

Passport stamps are to show travel for visits. If you are the female USC, and all travel to visit is your travel, then his passport stamps would be of no use. Use passport stamps that evidence time together in the same country. IMO, a receipt for an engagement ring is of little use but he could scan it and email it to you to include in the petition filing. You'll need his original signed G325a and letter of intent too, so if you don't have those already, he'll be mailing to the USA anyway.

Thank you so much! We both have our passport stamped when we went to HongKong for a short trip.Do you think it's of use if i'll provide copy of his stamped pp too, since it would show we were together on that trip? Thanks again! ^_^

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow many is too many?

I take it you are speaking of filing the I-129F petition. It is not an "app" for anything. I recommend photos be printed 9 to a full page in color on plain paper. 12 - 18 is a good number if you have them but zero is OK too. Make sure you concentrate on the required primary evidence like boarding passes, passport stamps and/or in country receipts. Photos are secondary evidence and are not sufficient without primary evidence to go with them.

i have more questions...Do they also need stamp from his passport or just mine?and the letters i have are from him and my letters to him are over there. so do they need both? They were saying to include engagement receipts but he has it.Im just confused coz most cases ive read are all guys who are here in the US and their fiancees in different countries.Posted Image

Hi everyone!
Im starting to complete the checklist for my application for k1 using I-129F and i dont know how many photos me and my fiance should be included in the app.We have so many pictures from trips, travel, engagement etc. Some say 5-10, others say the more the better.Im confused. And is it ok to watermark the dates on the photos if im sending lots of pics? although i know i still need to write the date, names and location at the back of the pics. And how many letters too? Some say to provide letters from wide range dates but how many is enough to be just right? We both have a box filled with letters and cards but how many is too many???Posted ImageI dont want the process to be delayed for RFE.If anyone can give me an exact number that would be very helpful.Thank's in advance!Posted Image

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestions about K1 application

Hello Vjers!

I'm starting to gather everything needed for our K1 application. I just have few question if somebody can help me.

1. Regarding G-325A Do we need to send 8 copies? 4 copies from me and 4 from my fiance? Should my fiance signed the G-325A? because I saw one forum and they were saying beneficiary don't need to signed it (I'm confused).

2. It's needed to send copy of my passport. Are they talking about my old passport? Because I just passed my naturalization this month and i won't have my US passport until later. Should I wait for that?

I am also just waiting for my oath ceremony so i can file my I-129F for my fiance. You only need to submit a copy of naturalization certificate (front and back). That's all you need to prove them that you are a US citizen. You & your fiance only need one orig G325A signed and dated.Check the k1 guidelines and checklist here in visa journey, i printed it out and it's of big help to organize everything that u need to submit.
Good luck to us both!:)

we have intenararies, boarding pass, passport stamps, i was asking how did you guys put names on the pictures do i need to put names of relatives family and friends? :)

thank you :)

we printed about 4-6 photos in 1 page photo paper and i put captions underneath.I used casio print out sticker so it's neatly done.We have about 6 pages. Its important to put the date, place and who were with you on the pix.You can either name them or at least let them know from which side of the family(yours or his)good luck.:)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow soon to gather requirements

Your income level is good enough. You need to contact the IRS and order tax transcripts for the past 3 years, collect pay stubs starting now, gather your W-2s, and ask your boss or human resources person for a letter verifying your employment--this letter should be on company letterhead and specify your position, your salary, and when you started working there. You can also get a bank statement showing how long you've had your account and how much you've got. Try to get as many of these things as you can for the I-134, read the instructions for the I-134, and read the guides here. There's a checklist of what you need to put together at this stage.

Read the guides carefully.

hi!
What's IRS #? and does it require a fee to order tax transcripts?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused On Documents!!

Hello,

I just started my process with the K-1 Visa, I am trying to to do this process on my own without no legal help since hiring a lawyer is so expensive these days. I have obtained all the documents needed in order to apply for the K-1 Visa but I have a feeling I am missing something. I did seek legal help with a lawyer he was nice enough to provide me with some advice but was unable to go into details because he did not take my case. So far the documents listed below is what I have obtain using this site as my guide. The site doesn't explain who details information goes on which form, so I was wondering if anyone is kind enough to guide me in the right direction or correct me if anything i have included is incorrect

Here are the documents I have obtained and filled out

1. I-129 form (includes both of our information)
2. G-325 (fiance info, 2 copies)
3. G-325 (us citizen info, 1 copy)
4. I-134 ( I have 2 sponsors)
5. Letter stating we are free to marry (2 letters one for each)
6. D-156 (confused on who's info should be included Mine or Fiancee's)
7. D-156K (confused on who's info should be included Mine or Fiancee's)
8. I have all the other documents requested as well just am unsure of what is sent off along with the forms

Now here the issue I have everything filled out expect the D-156 and D-156K I Don't Know what information goes on each form, whether is the US Citizen info on these forms or the Fiance info.
When something doesn't apply to you do you leave it blank or write n/a? Can anyone provide me with complete details on what the package should include and what is needed from me as the U.S citizen.

Times are rough for me to spent money on a lawyer, when we have useful websites, I searched all the forms and was unable to find a clear answer. I am trying to accomplish this on my own with the help of anyone that is willing to provide me with advice on this matter. Can anyone help me please!!
email me missjennie193@msn.com or reply to this post

Thank You

Jennifer

Hi! These might help! here are the contents included in my I129F package:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjust a question about proof of meeting and
Something's wrong with the system, i made a reply but it didnt show up.

Anyway, Hi!:hehe:
Have u read the guidelines for filing K1 visa here in VJ?it is really helpful.

You will need to submit G325A and Letter of intent to marry~signed and dated. If you and your fiance went on a trip together when he came to visit u, then a photocopy of your passport stamps will do, include copies of
boarding pass, train tickets as well if u have them. Most of the proof of ongoing relationship needed for now, are the ones your fiance already have, like his passport stamps, E-mails, chat logs, etc. If he doesnt have copies of pictures of u together then just send it to him via e-mail so he can print it out here in the US,Im sure he wont mind.(L)
As for other docs like BC, police clearance, their validity expires so what u can do for now is check where u can get it and how long it takes for them to process it, I suggest submit the I129F first then wait for NOA1.
Hope i was able to help.Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjust a question about proof of meeting and

so I have a rather blonde and silly question I currently in the process making a fiance visa pack to send to my fiance via email in the states we are hoping to start the process when we next meet up for my next trip in October. So here is my question we have pitures and my flight tickets from my previous trip should the tickets be a photocopy or can they be pictures of my flight tickets as I don't currently own a printer as for the stamp in my passport too I thought this might be clearer to send via email, we are trying to keep the costs down as I fear the post going to states will be VERY slow going by previous experiences it took a small box two months to arrive.

Another question with regards to all the stuff I've read online should I get my police checks and birth cerficates done now and notarised my problem being is i'm moving in two weeks and no one in the new area no one will know me which worries me on notarising anything i might need. I want to be prepared but then there is the question shall i wait till I come back from my trip to send copies of notarised b/c and police checks to prove that I am in an ongoing relationship with him.

Thank you for reading and i look forward to any advice

Emmy

We've chosen K1, simply because we both plan to have our dream church wedding back in the Philippines. It just make sense for both of us because most of our family and close friends are back there. We'll be having a small city hall wedding when he gets here for our " wedding for now", and then save money for about less than 2 years for our " wedding for later".
