National Visa Center (Dept of State)How long interview appointment is taking for Casablanca (Morocco)

Thank you for your reply. Morocco consulate did NOT close with other ME/African closures. In the link you attached most Moroccan cases got interview scheduled within two weeks of case completion. That is why I was worried if there is something else going on.

Hi guys! Just to give you an update, i requested the NVC to expedite my case and it was granted. I checked the IV status online and it now says IN TRANSIT but i still dont have any scheduled interview for my kids. I'm just wondering how long will it take before i get a schedule. Thanks!

Hi,

How did you get your case expedited at NVC? It may be helpful in my case. I am trying to get my sister-in-laws interview scheduled without any luck.... She is turning 21 in Feb 2014? Thanks

Middle East and North AfricaDocuments needed 4 getting married in Morocco

Welcome to VJ, Talat, from a fellow Michigander :D

I'm assuming you're asking what do you need for the marriage in Morocco, correct?

http://casablanca.us...quirements.html

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I have seen that link. My question is specific to how i get following documents:
* Criminal record (I am glad i don't have any... so where i go and get a letter that i don't have any).
* Police Report (How do i get this)
* Affidavit of nationality and marriage (issued from the cnsulate of US in Casablanca). A sample text this affidavit? Do i take a typewriiten statement 2 Casa Consulate or they will preapare one at their office.
* Certificate of religion... I can get it from local islamic ecnter. But is there any speific text or sample?
By the way, do you know how long the K3 is talking?

My attorney got me answers for '* Certificate of Nationality & * Certificate of Residence'. She just confirmed with the local Adoul that 'Affidavit of nationality and marriage (issued from the cnsulate of US in Casablanca)' will satify the requirement for those two documents.

Wish u best of luck.

Middle East and North AfricaDocuments needed 4 getting married in Morocco
Hi all,

Finally me and my sweetheart have decided to get married in Morocco and follow K3 route. I am US citizen and she is Moroccan. I have contacted an attorney and she has given me list of documents. If anyone who has gone through the process share with me as to 'sample text' and 'from where i can get these'. I will really appreciate it.

* Criminal record.
* Certificate of Nationality.
* Certificate of Residence.
* Certificate of religion (this one shall be done again before the adoul), so that you shall obtain ' A Deed of Confirmation of Islam'.
* Affidavit of nationality and marriage (issued from the cnsulate of US in Casablanca)
* Police certificate issued to foreigners (Issued in the Ministry of Justice in Rabat).

Also if someone would share his/her experiences for the whole process, i will really apprecaite it? I am excited but very much concerned about what this process is and how long will it take.

Thanks All.

Middle East and North AfricaCurrency Exchnage in Morocco
Hi All,
I am going to Casablanca this week. We are planning to get married as a first step for K3 process. My question is:
How do i exchnage US $ to Moroccan Dirhams? I am staying in an Apartment callled 'Casa Sweet Homes' and they don't have Currency Exchnage counters as all big hotels do. What is advisable way?

1. Take US $ with me and exchange over there?

2. Take Moroccan DH from US? Is there any limit Morocco has? I am planning equivalent to $5,000 to take with me to pay where credit cards don't work.

3. Take Traveller Checks and get them cashed over there?

How could i get better exchange rate? I called one of the hotels and almost fainted when the guy told me 1 US $ = 6 MAD.... where the regular rate is 1 US = 8.64 MAD.

Any one has experience with Car rental there? Is it better to get Car with driver as most of them locally do?

Thanks.

Middle East and North AfricaMorocco: What needs to be sent to NVC with DS230
Hi,
I am getting DS-230 ready for my wife so that i can send as soon as it is genertated from NVC. My wife is from Morocco. My Questions are:

1. What documents are required to be sent to NVC with DS-230.
It will be nice if someone has copy of the instructions and i will appreciate it very much.

2. What documents are needed to be sent to Casa Consulate (or take along with for interview).

3. How one would go about getting police certificate. And how long it takes to get one?

4. Does she need to send (or take with her) school certificates? If yes, since which level/grade?

5. I had my I-129F (K3) got approved after my I-130 approval (even though i had sent USCIS withdrawal letter for I-129F).
How could i abandon I-129F? Do I call NVC or Casa Consulate?

6. My understanding is that NVC schedules interview date. Is that correct?

Thanks veryyyyyyyy much for every help/guidance.

Middle East and North AfricaCR1: Can I ask for alternate Consulate bc Casa is closed
Hi all,
My CR1 case is in final stages of processing at NVC. Because CASA is closed without re-opening date, I called NVC today to see how can I ask for different consulate (like Tunis) to process my CR1 case. I was told that there is regulation that CR1 can only be processed in the country of residence of beneficiary.

I know in the past, to change the consulate, all one had to do was to send a letter asking for change of consulate. Anyone knows, if that is still possible and how?

Thanks.

Middle East and North AfricaInterview Procedures after CASA's reopening
We are expecting our interview date soon for CR1. I was wondering what the procdures are after reopening. More specifically:

1. Are they now giving specific times of interview instead of calling everyone at the same in the morning?
2. Are they sticking pretty much to the apponited time or not?
3. Where the spouses can wait during the interview (now that there is more security concern)?

Or any other information about a recent interview will be very helpful.

Thanks.

Middle East and North AfricaCR1 Interview, Can petitioner accompany spouse
[quote name='slbois' date='Jun 11 2007, 07:43 PM' post='977263']
Talat,
Quick question. Is the Casier Judiciare necessary even though they have never been involved in court proceedings?

I never received DS-230 instruction package. However, DOS state site lists both documents to be obtained under Police and Penal Recortds. My wife got this one which listed NONE. Atrtached are the two links:

This link list all documents needed. You have to select your country. Documents needed by country
This link lists deatils of some documents specific to each country. Information regarding some documents specific to each country. This link lists setails about police, birth & Marriage certificates.

I also had the CR1. I had written in advance and asked if I could attend. They said no. We ended up having a second interview, long story, most here know why. Anyway, I did go to Morocco and attended him to the consulate. I was denied entry, but he made it known I was there.

All in all though, it is a good idea to go, even if you aren't allowed inside. As Chi said, make sure it is known that you are there.

HI,
Thanks to your msg to my thread. I plan on going for the interview and be with my wife even if i can't attend.

I used Jame's shortcuts and sent my DS-230 before NVC sent me the letter. I have not yet received the DS-230 instructions from NVC. I attached following forms (based on State Dept's recipocity page) and was wondering if you can confirm that i sent the correct forms. Thanks.

1. DS-230 Part I signed and Part II unnsigned.
2. Original Marriage certificate with translation (notorized).
3. Original Birth Certificate for her and translation (notorized).
4. Police records. both with translations (notorized).
4.1 Original Fiche Anthropometrique
4.2 Original Casier Judiciaire
5. Three (3) Photographs (I did not see anywhere about photos though)
6. Copy of passport (biographic pages).

Middle East and North AfricaCR1 Interview, Can petitioner accompany spouse

1. no one is allowed inside the consulate except the benificiary. you will have to wait at a cafe next to the consulate or across the street. (since tha latest incident this may not even be possible.)

2. it is standard no one but the one being interviewed is allowed inside the consulate. you can request to be present but your request will either be ignored or denied.

there is a slight chance if you wife mentions first thing that you are waiting outside that the CO may have her go get you if the CO wants to see or talk to you. this does happen but not often.

since the interview can be very short and fast, she needs to mention you are there right away or she may get caught up in the interview and forget (nervousness).

good luck

chi

Thanks for your reply. In the past, (and even in a different country that i know of) they would want spouse to be present for CR1 (not K1/K3) case. Did you go for K visa or CR1?

Middle East and North AfricaCASA: time to appointment after receipt of DS-230
Hi,
My wife's DS-230 was received at NVC last Friday (June 8th) and i found out that NVC schedules interview appointments once a month only and that too in 2nd week of every month. For NVC to schedule my appointment they have to complete review of MY DS-230.
1. Anyone knows how long it takes them to review DS-230?
2. Is there any chance for my wife will be included in this month's scheduling?
3. Which of the week they schedule the interviews? Or they schedule every day this week?

Middle East and North AfricaOh Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Got a date with casa!

My fiance and I were talking last night about interview dates. I figured that after being closed for 50 days casa would be so flooded and we wouldn't have an interview date sooner than August. Then we heard that someone called DOS and learned their packet 3 had been sent May 29 and we started to worry. I said "lol, what if you got the packet tomorrow."

Guess what. I should have checked my email before calling DOS today, he did get it today   I did call, they told me the date, then I went online and found out about the packet 3. This is sooo cool!

Middle East and North AfricaNervous abt which interview K3 or CR1

Our K3 packet has been mailed by Casa consulate on May 29th and CR1 is about 2-3 weeks behind for NVC processing to complete. After reading posts of denials for K3 & K1, we are very nervous to pursue K3. We get the impression that K3 has more chances of denial or 221G than CR1 based on what we have from visajourney. Would senior members who been there and have seen many jouneyb members comment on following questions:

1. Does K3 stand more chances of denial than CR1?
2. If one gets 221G (or whatever for more docs), which is easier to follow up K3 or CR1?
3. If we get Interview date for K3, and before that date CR1 case is completd by NVC and/or get interview date from NVC, what options we have?
3(a). Can we keep K3 interview date and ask them to entertain us for CR1 case?
3(B). Will consulate automatically cancel our K3 interview date and make us wait for CR1 interview date?
4. If only NVC completes processing of CR1 case and not schedule interview date, is there anything we can do to have CASA keep our K3 interview date but process CR1 case instead of K3?

Thanks.
Nervous majnoons

Hi,
we are also weighing our options between K3 & CR1. Wish you best of luck.

Middle East and North AfricaUrgent: CASA - sending DOCs with DS-230

Salam Talat,
I have filed for the CR1. The only things that I was made aware that needed to be sent is the certified birth certificate with translation, part I of the DS230 (and the unsigned part II) as well as the police certificates with translations. Where did you read that they need to be notarized? I am assuming that the tax stamp that they have put on all their documents will be proof enough that they are indeed official. I also don't think that photographs are requested at this time either.
Best of luck to you. Please keep me posted as you learn also. I need all the help I can get. I too am having difficulty finding people who have went for the CR1 with spouses from Morocco.

I am using Jame's NVC tips and am sending DS-230 form for my wife today and would like someone who has gone through CASA with CR1 case to confirm if i am sending all the documents (as the form got generated this Monday and i don't have copy of that):

1. DS-230 Part I signed and Part II unnsigned.
2. Original Marriage certificate with translation (notorized).
3. Original Birth Certificate for her and translation (notorized).
4. Police records. both with translations (notorized).

Middle East and North AfricaAge Difference & K3 Vs CR1

I don't know if that would be an issue or not. We're used to seeing older USC women here with younger Moroccan men. I know it is generally easier for a woman going through Casa and on VJ it is more rare, but not too sure about the age difference part. I would just be sure to address it everywhere you can to make sure the Consulate feels as comfortable with it as you two are.

Good luck!

Thanks for your thoughts.
1. In my I-130 & I-129F I attched 4 PICs of my kids and her family in the wedding ceremony. That was my way, that it is a serious relationship. Theoretically, COs are NOT supposed to readjucate the petitions and USCIS had clear knowledge of age differnece.
2. I am professionally employed and income is more than 10 times poverty ceiling.

My Question for senior members is: Is K3 any less safer route than CR1 purely from the point of view if COs treat one with more Scrutiny than the other?

I apprecciate feedback.

Middle East and North AfricaAge Difference & K3 Vs CR1
Hi fellow members,
My wife's K3 case was forwarded to CASA on May 8th and CR1 case is in final stages of processing. Uptill now, we were planning to go for CR1 as i thought that would be safer than going through K3. Now i found out that NVC schedules interviews once a month only in 2nd week. Our DS-230 being received on June 8th (last Friday), i am not sure if she will be included in this month's scheduling. That is why, we thinking about considering K3 route as case is already with CASA.

My Question to fellow members is, Is K3 more prone to denials/delays than CR1 in light of huge age differnece between us. Here are what i think are red flags:

1. My wife is 30 years younger than me.
2. I have four children who live with me.
3. We got married after 3 months we met online.

However, both of these facts were known to USCIS at the time of approval and COs are not suppoosed to re-adjucate the cases. I am quite certian we will prevail even if CO refuses 1st time, but we want to avoid this mess for obvious reasons. Here are what i think are positives to overcome these CO's mentality:

1. We had wedding ceremony and children also attended along with her family. We had DVD and Album made of ceremony and I had attached 4 PICs with my I-130 & I-129F petition ( 1 showing us with my Children, 1 Showing us with her family, 2 PICs of DVD front & back cover).
2. We talk on average 2-3 hours every day since we became serious. She IP phone with a US number so we talk very frequently. I intend to print call logs along with summary stats of daily, weekly and monthly average talk time.
3. We do Video MSN chat on average 1.5 hours every day. I intend 2 print our logs but it will be over 1000s pages.
4. I visited her 3 times within 9 months of our association and I intend to go at the time of her interview.
5. She chats with my kids on MSN all the time.
6. Despite her young age, she is very mature than her age. She knows what she wants in life and her partner and is very independent. AS a matter of fact, she is a poet and writes veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy romantic poems on an arabic web site. We are madly in love with each other. This is my true 1st love as previous marriage was an arranged mariage and was more mechanical than anything else. I love her so much and i can't imagine life without her and same is true for her. But how we show this to CO.

We will appreciate every opinion.. I am more confident that we will get through 1st time but just want 2 cover all bases.

Middle East and North AfricaHas Anyone From Casa with recent approval received an interview date??

Try doing a timeline search for people who filed around the same time and from the same center as you did. You could also try doing the search but focus on people who had their case sent to casa around the same time as you. Look at their timelines or PM them specifically in case they don't come to this area of vj and they miss your posts.

We did not have a date scheduled during casa's closure, but tour case was sent something like 2 months before yours (right before they closed), our interview date probably doesn't say anything about when your date would be. I am a little surprised your packet was sent out before mine was, since you filed after we did, but that's casa for you. Did you email casa? They took a week to reply to my question. The beneficiary could try going to the post office and asking about if they have any mail that is addressed to him. It's worth a try.

I'm probably not much help, I'm just responding to the distress and wishing you the best.

BT

I reached home and got e-mail from CASA that our date is July 9th.......... Very sweet..... Now that we have one date in hand, we are trying 2 see if NVC can complete review of our DS-230 soon then we can ask casa to process our CR1 case instead of K3 on the same date if they can.

Thanks for your reply.... it is great help to hear someone with compassion.... and wish you best of luck.

Middle East and North AfricaHow long it takes after NVC sends case to Consulate?
A good news and thanks to CASA Immigrant Secion. My wife had July 24th interview for K3 scheduled and NVC completed its processing of her CR1 case also on June 26th. I e-mailedCASA Consulate asking them to process her CR1 case. They sent me e-mail that they are willing to do that and have also informed NVC about their willingness.

NVC sent her CR1 case to CASA on July 6th. I am nervous if it will reach there in time. NVC told me that they sent electronically and by DHL as well. I checked DHL tracking by Reference and nothing showed up for CASA (there was one for China and other one for Argentina). Anyone knows how long it takes when NVC indicates that they have forwarded the case to and when Consulate recieves it.

Thanks.

2. Do they allow spouse to be present? I am going for her interview.
3. If I am not allowwed inside, is there a cooler place around where i could wait?

I am curious, what was ur husabnd's reply to age difference question? Ours is bigger differnce (30). She is very mature and smart and know what her answer is.

Congrats again.

I wasn't able to go with my hubby (very pregnant the first time and then only 1 week notice the last time), but I think I've read on here that spouses aren't allowed to go. I do believe they have everyone show up at like 8:00 or 10:00 and then they just process you in and get to you one at a time.

There is a nice outdoor cafe across the street and headed back up to the main street. Don't remember the name of it though. Don't know if the benches are still there in the middle...since the bombing happened.

Thanks for your reply. it is useful. Do know how long normally one has to wait from 8am time (like 1 or two hours)?
Thanks.

Middle East and North AfricaCasablanca's Method of Giving Interview Dates Changing?

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone with experience of dealing with Casablanca consulate could shed some light on an issue that has us somewhat perplexed. I called the DOS number and was told that "Packet 3" was mailed to my fiance on June 18, 2007. From what other Casa folks have said, the interview date and time is included with Packet 3. DOS said we don't have an interview date yet, despite the package being already mailed. So, I emailed Casablanca yesterday, and this is an excerpt from the response I received today:

"We recently received your fiancé’s file at this office. We are in the process of scheduling his appointment. As soon as we have done so, we will mail him a packet of information including his appointment date."

I am kind of at a loss to explain that, as DOS is showing the package as already mailed! Perhaps it was a generic response or DOS has a mistaken mailing date in their system? I am wondering if the procedure has changed, and if they now schedule the interview date after mailing the packet 3. I would especially like to hear from those who have interviews scheduled for July. Did you guys receive your date/time with Packet 3?

Thanks,
iysha

Iysha,
You are right, exact same thing happened with us. After the similar e-mail (which you got casa), I got an e-mail with appointment date for my wife and also telling which forms to bring and link to downlaod the forms. It also had word doc for medical. My wife has not yet received the packet 3 which according to DOS was mailed on May 28th.

Middle East and North AfricaHow long interview appointment is taking for Casablanca (Morocco)

Hello,

My wife called today and was told that September interviews are closed. That means my mother-in-law, whose case got completed on July 26, will have to wait over two months for interview appointment. That does not seem right to me. Is there any suggestions as to what question I should ask to find out what exactly is going on? Appreciate any response.

Thank you for your reply. I see your case got completed on Aug 5th. Best of luck for you. I have cases for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law in AOS checklist review.... hopefully those will get completed next week, I hope we all get our cases end to a joyous completion soon. Wait is a terrible toll on families.

Middle East and North AfricaI-864 specific question to Morocco - Does Morocco has Provinces

Thanks for the post.

  1. Title of the column is Prefectures on Provinces... if you look up in dictionary, prefecture is translated as ' The district administered or governed by a prefect'....
  2. See below the Prefectures and Provinces of Morocco... Prefectures and provinces are nothing but 2nd level administrative division of region.
    • If you see carefully, you will some of the 2nd level divisions are called prefectures and some are called provinces.... all of these in fact are districts and may be bigger districts are called provinces instead of prefectures.
    • If there were real provinces then you would have seen:
      • Regions
        • Provinces
          • Districts or Prefectures
            • Cercles (zones)

Prefectures and provinces of Morocco

In Morocco, the second-level administrative subdivisions are prefectures and provinces. They are subdivisions of the Regions of Morocco. Each prefecture and province are subdivided into districts (cercles, sing. cercle), municipalities (communes, sing. commune) or urban municipalities (communes urbaines, sing. commune urbaine), and arrondissements in some metropolitan areas. The districts are subdivided into rural municipalities (communes rurales, sing. commune rural).

Note: The municipalities and arrondissements should probably be thought of as fourth-level subdivisions, on the same level as the rural municipalities.

Middle East and North AfricaI-864 specific question to Morocco - Does Morocco has Provinces

I checked and did found out:

  1. There is no Moroccan government official document stating existence of provinces.
  2. There are regions... for economic development.... may be licensing / permits.
  3. There are no court, administrative office or governor (or any head of position) for the regions.
  4. Obviously there no legislative body either.

I sent the above facts to NVCENQUIRY and pleaded that there is provincial system in Morocco and that I rightly left Part 4, Item 8 blank. In the e-mail subject line, I asked for supervisory review.

When I called today, I was told that there cases are complete and AOS is complete also.  Good to know that NVC reviews the e-mail.

Middle East and North AfricaI-864 specific question to Morocco - Does Morocco has Provinces

I filed I-864 for my brother & sister-in-law for my father-in-law (petitioner) and received Checklist for Part 4, Item 8..... which asks for province of birth of petitioner....

1. If filled Item# (city of birth) as SAFI.

2. But I left Item #8(Province) as Blank as there are no provinces (as much I know).

2.a Are there any provinces in Morocco? If yes, what is province for SAFI?

Also, can someone guide me as to how can I ask for supervisory review? last time I asked for some other issue by calling 603 phone #, it never happened.

Thanks for all the help.
