US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGot Appointment Letter Yesterday!!!
Thanks so much everyone!!

We've been working on filling in the DS-156 form today, and boy it's a pain! Like, questions 26 and 28 I'm not sure exactly how he's supposed to fill in... and they sent us the paper forms, two of each, I guess to fill in by hand?! But I'm reading here that lots of people say you should fill them in online or something... ???

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGot Appointment Letter Yesterday!!!
Hey everyone! Wish us luck! My fiance's appointment letter came yesterday... we're set for the morning of October 14! My fiance's English is great, I don't think he'll have any troubles. We've got a scrapbook put together of my time here with him (a year and a half) and I'll send him in with my driver's license, passport, engagement ring and receipt, Chinese University transcripts and student card, etc...

Does anyone have any advice/encouragement for us? I'm nervous because I'm an American girl and he's a Chinese guy and you like NEVER see that combo, so I'm afraid they'll think we're fake or something?!

Anything specific we should know about filling in the forms they just sent in packet 4?

If anyone has anything to share, comments are welcome! I love my sweetie so much, and I SO want this to go through... we've waited forever sad.gif !

Thanks peoples! smile.gif

On the "Do you plan to work"........Put no. The Visa is for him to come to USA for marriage. These forms are used for many types of Visas. K1 is for marriage. On the, "How long do you intend to stay in the US",,we put "Always".....since my Fiancee and I will live in the US............Best of Luck....Bob

Thanks, Bob.
My Mom's afraid if we check "no" they will think he has no other good reason to go to the States?
Also, what about our paper issue? Does anyone think using the copies are a problem?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestions from an American Fiancee
Hi Everyone,

These past few days since receiving my Chinese fiance's interview appointment have been kind of stressful for the two of us, trying to figure out exactly what we have to write down on the forms and what all to bring to the interview, etc.

I'm concerned because I fear if we fill in the answer to a question wrongly on DS-157 or 156 he won't pass, and we've been SO anticipating our tentative wedding in the States!

For example, as soon as the wedding is over pretty much, we plan to get his status adjustment, so he can work... but can he check the box that says "Yes" for "Do you plan to work in the the US?" even though the K1 doesn't allow for working? He plans to work later on, after status adjustment.

The other question we're hung up on is, "How long do you intend to stay in the US?" ... we're thinking of putting something like "indefinitely after visa status adjustment" but is that okay?!

Also, he made a couple mistakes on the DS-156, and scratched them out, so we went to make new copies and found out the Consulate's paper size is very specific! Does this matter? Is it okay to make copies and use our own paper for the Guangzhou Consulate??? My fiance is worried that it's all ruined tongue.gif

I'm nervous because he's an Asian male marrying an American girl, and I'm worried they won't pass him for some odd reason. Anyone "foreign"girls out there get a Chinese fiance and passed?! Please help me with the above questions if you can!!

Also, I'm going to the Consulate with him, and I'm wondering if it's really worth it to attend ACH, and if so, how do I get an appointment? What goes on during the ACH?

Thanks so much!!!Attached File  IMG_0031.JPG   49.76KB   3 downloads

Is it true that fiance's petitions from china take longer because of the US wants to slow down the amount of petitions from that country. I read this on some other site and have yet to find it again.

No, I don't think so either. We received our NOA 1 on Feb. 25, and our NOA 2 on July 7. My fiance and I are still waiting for our first information packet. I don't think the slowness is on the US side, but rather over here in China, while our file goes through customs, and then all the paper work and the interview, etc. Guangzhou is infamous for being a tough consulate for K-1 though... my hands get sweaty just thinking about my Sweetie's interview. wacko.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre there any recent GuangZhou petitioner/fiance(e) here?
QUOTE (Yong @ Jul 23 2009, 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am trying to get more info about this new program at NVC where they send files to GuangZhou electronically.

I heard for K-1 visas, it's all being done electronically. Is it true? Are they any recent GuangZhou petitioners or finance(e)s here? I am very curious about this and hope they are indeed doing things electronically to speed the process up!

Thanks!

Um, well, I am currently in the process of a K-1 visa for my fiance, who lives in Guilin, China, and we received our NOA 2 on July 7, and no one has mentioned anything about electronic transfers. Our attorney said that our files are being sent to Guangzhou and may take 2-3 months just going through customs. So, I assume this is snail mail transfer.

QUOTE (Malrothien @ Sep 11 2009, 08:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It makes me sad to read this post, honestly. 1969 is when my grandparents took my aunt/mother and left Cuba forever. They were only allowed to take one or two things each. It's disheartening to hear that it is still that way.

Malrothien, my grandparents were the same way... my grandmother loves America because she said they took her family in even when they had nothing... unfortunately, it's not that easy to get to the States anymore, if you're an honest but poor and ill-treated person. My father and his two older sisters said they left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a few photographs. My grandma cries everytime she tells the story... anyway, I totally understand your feelings.
