Yes definitely i need to be there, i am used to see big bellies in the street and had never touched one. Now i have my own i want to feel the baby moving under my hand when i am touching the belly. These days i look at pregnant women in the streets more often trying to imagine how my wife walk, sit, lay down, drive, how she is when clothes on and bunch of ideas crossing my mind. This is the first time in my life i am gonna have a child, first time i got a woman pregnant for me, i missed most of the months as she is 6 months now i do not want to miss the 8th one

That was BEAUTIFUL, Rujby!

I should be studying for an exam, but I did some research.

It's taken me a few days, but, here is the reason why DoS can see things USCIS and NVC can not:

Thanks for all that hard work, and thanks for sharing your research!

That's where we Canadians are spoiled. We're so used to just going across the border with no issues, that the immigration is a shock!

That's why I'm SOOOO thankful for VisaJourney. All this information and support from strangers around the world... It makes this process a LOT easier to go through. If I didn't learn all the things I have from this website, we'd probably be still waiting on the DS-3032 packet to arrive in the mail from NVC...Posted Image And being in a community like this reminds me that hubby and I are NOT alone... there are SO many other people who can identify with our journey!

I like your fancy signature by the way ;)

Why thank you ma'am! (said in a Southern drawl while bowing)

And that brings up a question Mr. Sheeshka and I discussed not too long ago.

If we knew in the beginning how hard this was going to be, would we have continued the relationship?

We both knew how hard this would be - we're Jamaicans, and the US embassy here is pretty strict. But we've been through very tough times before, and the Lord has ALWAYS brought us through. So we've been approaching this as we do every other undertaking - ONE step at a time (including my occasional bouts of panicked freaking out LOL). But yes, this relationship is TOTALLY worth this immigration journey!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2012

It IS true... i had no clue until after i got married and even then, i thought the USCIS step was the only step... silly me for not reading more into it at the time... and most people don't know that there is a process to coming here legally... the ones that have an idea, don't think it takes as long as it does... my mom was telling me that back when she filed a petition for my dad ~26 years ago, that it was just one petition she filed, submitted a bank statement, he had his interview, and he was here after only 2 months!!! talk about simple and quick!!! lol... i was telling her of all the stages there are now, the number of forms to fill, all the other documents and paperwork to submit, and then all the fees and she couldn't believe it... times have changed ALOT!!! my dad thought i was doing something wrong with the filing because it was taking longer than a couple of months...LOL

Those were the good ol' days... before 9-11 and immigration fraud. Good thing is, we've got bragging rights: we're survivors of a much TOUGHER system! Posted Image

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - April 2012

Isn't that true?! When I started dating Trav, he had friends who would just say "oh, just come down here, get married and don't go back - that's all you need to do." Yeah, that's all you need to do if you figure you look good in prison gear awaiting deportation!

... hence the sometimes intolerant comments I see sometimes in response news articles discussing immigration, legal or illegal. Many people never think that one day THEY may be a stranger in someone else's country!

LOL, so true. My mom knows someone who had a daughter-in-law from Brazil who was pregnant. They decided that the visa process was going to take too long and they wanted her to give birth in the US so they snuck her through the border with Mexico. I would never take that risk because I wouldn't want to have the threat of my wife and step-daughter being deported at any moment, not to mention it can be dangerous to make an illegal crossing into the US from Mexico.

I agree - there are some risks not worth taking, because the consequences of failure are SO dire and FINAL. It's really best to try to prepare, present the best case you can, and settle down for the long haul knowing that the process won't last forever.

WOW...that's a huge risk to take with a pregnant person! The dangers are real, and I'm sure they're far worse than what we read about in the news too. I'd say there's something to be said for doing this process, surviving it, and being fully able to live as a free permanent resident/citizen - with no fear of deportation unless you get stupid! It may take a long time, it may be painful, but being able to live a fully normal life with our spouses at the end is a huge plus!

Grats on all the progress recently! Posted Image

I used to get this error all the time back at NVC. It might look like it's under 40 lines, but you have to consider ALL the HTML that composes your signature. When you get the error about it being over 40 lines, look at the little box that appears and you'll see all the HTML. Try doing your signature over again without color or bolding or italics as that takes up HTML.

Morning to April NVC-ers! Again, so happy for all of you with CCs who are finally getting your interview dates!

So here's what's been happening with our case. I'll be attempting to update my signature pretty soon.

- Paid the IV bill last Tuesday, and that puppy was showing as 'In Process' for DAYS!!!
- Finally, on Friday evening, an operator told us that he could SEE in the system that we had paid, even though the payment portal was still not updated to 'PAID'
...So hubby took a calculated risk and mailed out the DS-230 packet on Saturday. It was delivered on Monday... and my heart was in my mouth, because the portal was still showing... you guessed it... "IN PROCESS"

Well we all know now that NVC has been in a FLURRY of action since yesterday. So yesterday morning the status finally showed up as 'PAID'... but they had not yet received my packet.

This morning, when I called and asked about whether they had received it, Operator Nicky said "It's still under review ma'am (sternly) you have to give us 20 business days!"
Me: "So you mean that my DS-230 packet was received and is now under review?"
Operator Nicky: "Yes ma'am and you have to give us 20 business days."

... Calling them tonight. Operator Nicky should be home then Posted Image

So I'm off now to go FIGHT with the timeline in my signature... ===>

Happy Saturday to all!

So here's what's been happening: we paid the IV fee online on TUESDAY. $$$ taken from account on WEDNESDAY. IV checklist emailed to hubby and I on FRIDAY. IV Fee payment status still showing as 'IN PROCESS'. Hubby called NVC last night, 15 minutes to midnight. A very nice agent (oops, forgotten his name) told hubby:
(a) ignore the checklist
(b) IV payment has been received, the system is just still 'chewing' on it (???)
© AOS reviewed and accepted
(d) We're on our way and "it's all good".

Just surprised that it's taking so long for the system to show the IV fee as PAID, even though an agent can SEE that it's been paid. At the same time, very happy and excited that the end of the NVC journey is looming larger and larger in view!

Yes, I am SO grateful for that site I found. Saved so much money for the pictures for the IV package, medical, and interview. Just wish I had heard of it for my I-130 petition before spending $30 Posted Image

And the bigger benefit than saving money, in my opinion, is that you can keep taking pictures until you're satisfied. I took probably at least 10 for my interview ones as I knew that was going on my green card, and I wanted it to look good Posted Image And then I discover, on my green card, the picture is in black & white, not color. I don't see my pretty pink hair on it :(

Yeah, but just consider this a preparation period. Have everything filled out and signed, scanned, and uploaded into a PDF format (if doing EP). Go over the DS-260 screenshots and make sure you have all information needed.

Like others and myself say, once you get the case number, it typically goes very fast up until everything is submitted.

What photo site is this please? (trying to mine through all these fast-growing pages of posts in this thread lol!)

Hello Good folks at VJ! *shshhhh :secret:

Let me do My Dance First !

Now time for the Good News:star: Got my CC today!

Yup from Case# 3/8/12 to CC 4/3/12, that's 27 days, and thats 27 days with 2 Checklists. It's just like what Saylin always says, You Gotta Be On Top of it with NVC, like a Fly on a...... ummmm well that part i added but you get my point.
Just want to say Thank you to Saylin and to everybody else for their time spent answering my endless questions.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! YAYYYY!!!!!!! (Sorry I had to delete all the emoticons... system said there were too many!!!)

Saylin, please update the spreadsheet that I mailed my IV packet yesterday 4/2/2012. I also got a check list email in the afternoon, but that was just asking for the IV packet.

Just dodged a few tornadoes here in North Texas, and more are on the way. We had to go to the stairwell for safety 3 times over the last 1 and 1/2 hours. I am afraid to go see how my car looks like after all the hail that passed through.

So glad you're safe. The footage I saw on CNN was... amazing, to say the least...

Got...and paid...MY AOS INVOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Saylin...turns out it was my name causing the issues, my file now reflects the last name Lowman :P )

I finally got my case number, IIN and BIN. Going to send of the choice of agent email now. Finally something is happening now.

CONGRATS! Doesn't it feel GREAT to be able to update your timeline & signature?Posted Image

So I finally got through and was told the second week of the month bla bla bla

So I told the person who answered that I knew that wasn't so cause I knew people who got their interview date last week. She then admittided that it wasn't exactly how the interviews are set but she did say that during the second week of the month they updated the embassies available time slots for the upcoming month and start to book them. So in april they will book interviews for may. Some embassies might have more open time slots one month because they might have fewer fiancee visa interviews and they will then release more slots to the nvc during the month and not just the second week...

At least I got some kind of explanation, if it's true or not I don't know.. Has anyone else been givven this explanation?

Well at least that's a clarification so we can better understand what's going on...

Well sent of the choice of agent email and also logged in for the 1st time.  When hubby comes back from training I can tell him the good news. I'm a military wifey not canadian like you guys.

So i guess, unfinished cases from March now we should post here or in March thread?

Welcome to April!

Don't worry you'll get it soon. Just be grateful you're not going through Ghana. The wait can be up to a year to get a date assigned from CC Posted Image

Wow... One YEAR???!!! That's crazy...Posted Image

Don't worry it doesn't apply to typical case. NVC gave Checklist for not having PCC from passport office. My situation is that it does not apply to my beneficiary since the beneficiary is a non-indian, residing in India, so the beneficiary does not have Indian Passport, only "Identity card" so therefore only PCC given is by Local district Police Station to the beneficiary. So we emailed NVC with explanation and they are still reviewing it.
Read here: http://travel.state....L-0001-1112.pdf
"Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence."
The annoying part of all this is that this Checklist should not have come up because if the reviewer actually paid attention, they would have realized this, We even put a special note on the local PCC. Now looks like this unnecessary checklist will cost us extra 2 weeks of delay. :crying:

That's annoying... But I hope you'll be over that hurdle real soon!
