Idk if you are asking me, but I did not receive a txt/email regarding the interview letter (I did for the initial application submission), it just came in the mail.

US Citizenship General DiscussionChicago local office - oath ceremony question
Hi Astromar79, what is your current status? Have you passed the interview and received the oath letter? How long did it take? I just had my interview this morning in Chicago and received "recommendation for approval", which is making me uneasy until I receive the Oath letter. Please let me know if you can. Thanks!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI601 waiver insufficient any one else??? in this boat???
Hi, i am the USC, and i am paying for most everything... but i am also the breadwinner in the relationship, and will be after marriage as well, as he has selected a noble but low-paying career, and i am in corporate America. He does contribute: he paid for the translations, his plane ticket for his visit coming in a few weeks, and is looking forward to contributing to the household when we are approved and married in the USA.

I echo the sentiment that if you are feeling this way now with your fiance, you must sort this out, otherwise this behavior will continue to upset you long after you are married....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew Person, Stupid Question about the K1 Interview
QUOTE (tucson_chick @ Sep 10 2008, 08:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
well - you are talkling about 2 different visa here. for DCF you guys could have gotten hitched and filed directly at the embassy and received the CR1 within weeks.

For the K1 he has to wait in Germany until the petition is approved and then fly over and get married.

well - as far as I know (and I might be wrong) is only the german fiance allowed to go to the embassy.
other than that: the interview is so short and really only a formality that it might be a waist of money for you to fly over just for the interview.
If money isn't an issue it might be nice to fly to Germany to kinda "bring him home" and fly back to the US with him.

best of luck!

We are doing K1 not DCF... and it's never a waste of money to see my honey! So it's true he'll be facing the music solo. I want to go with him and be by his side to support and celebrate when they say yes!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew Person, Stupid Question about the K1 Interview
Hi, everyone. Happy to read everyones questions and experiences through this nutty process.... Am engaged to a wonderful German man who I met while I was on a long term assignment in Germany. Am now back in the USA for the last month or so. Luckily, we were able to have our ducks in a row to file the I29F right after I arrived home (got engaged the week before I left the EU!).

I have been trying to plan the visa process and the wedding and my return to American life, and my brain is swirling with info overload.

I was under the impression that both Torsten and I would be required to be at the consulate for the interview. Further reading has lead me to believe otherwise: Torsten has to manage the interview alone.

Now, I still plan on flying over for the interview whether they speak with me or not: he's not going this alone! But my questions is: am I going to be interviewed as well?

appreciate the help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does "touched" really mean?
QUOTE (PrettyFlower @ Sep 20 2008, 09:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
uscis california said they sent our RFE last AUGUST 12, 2008. but my fiance received none.
on the website our case was "touched" AUGUST 13, 2008. my fiance keeps calling and all they tell him is to wait for it.
this morning we checked the website again and it said "touched" SEPTEMBER 19, 2008. but still no RFE in the mail.

Well, I guess I don't feel so bad... We filed on Aug 25, and the last update was on Aug 27th. Almost a month ago. But checking the others' timelines, that doesn't seem so abnormal....

I have had a bad week, so was hoping for some good news. Oh well.

Hang in there, we are just a few weeks behind you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMore VWP POE Questions for Fiance Visit
One more question about ETSA, the new electronic advanced approval system for VWP countries? The system was turned on on August 1, 2008. So it's possible to use this to "test" whether our not he will be denied at the port. Thoughts on this, too?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMore VWP POE Questions for Fiance Visit
Hi, I know that this has been discussed on many threads, and people seem to be a bit down on having your fiance visit the USA while the k1 is in process. We are going to take the chance next week, and I wanted to make a checklist.

So far it seems that the following would prove ties to the homeland:

1) letter from his work that states, assuming in English?

2) his rental contract, does this have to be in english as well? What about a letter from his landlord indicating an ongoing contract?

3) I have plane tickets to Germany in December, should he have a copy of those as well as his own return ticket?

4) What else is proof that he will be going back to Germany?

How many of you have had success or failures with getting into the country on VWP while the K1 is in process?

Thanks for the help, if you can see anything else I have missed, please let me know!
