Trust me, after she's done it once, she will ALWAYS. ALWAYS do it again.
I hate to tell you this, but I would personally just stop talking to her and end the relationship. It's not worth it.

Yeah I figured! Thank you.
Will they say anything about it at the check-in at the ariport or at customs? What should I say?

Just tell them the truth, that the round trip ticket was much cheaper than the one-way flight, it's most likely not the first time that they've heard that.
congrats and good luck to you! Posted Image

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUS Citizen trying to bring Canadian gf to US to work

She works in Fashion and Marketing industries (degree is fashion business). You're right, the jobs she is interested in have been hard to get... she would love to get sponsored for a H1B visa but has been trying for months. Are you sure she may visit the US while undergoing those processes? We were told at USCIS that while waiting for K1 visa she will not be able to enter the US even for visitation and and this process might take up to 4-5 months!

realistically......8-10 months.......(montreal consulate is SLOW)...... and she can visit as long as she proves really strong ties to canada when trying to enter US....lots of documentation showing she is going to return to canada...but she still may be denied entry.....it's up to the Border Patrol Officer... sadly...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support

:help: I am almost sure I do not need a co-sponsor for my fiance for the K-1 Visa. But I would please like information on what the threshold is for sponsorship. I make almost $45K/year and I have a daughter who is fully dependent on me. I do not own a house  and I have less than $3K in savings. Do I still need a co-sponsor?? Please advise on any information. Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEarning Above the Poverty Line

Hi all,

It's come to my attention that, when bringing your fiance over to the states, one must be earning a certain amount above the poverty line. I've been on the market lately, looking for new jobs and I'm curious to know if minimum wage (let's say, $7.55 an hour or so, full time) would be convincing enough? Or should I set my sights a bit higher and aim for a larger income, which is always a good idea, but if worst comes to worst and I'm stuck working at Target again it'd be nice to have the reassurance knowing that working minimum wage would get us by.

Your thoughts? Thanks.

http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf (i-134 needs 100% for K1 visa, but when AOS you will need the i-184 and 125% amount or plan on getting a co sponsor)

Phew... I live within 5 hours of downtown vancouver so that will save a lot of money.

Thanks again for your time :)

There is a regional forum for Canada right here: http://www.visajourn...orum/93-canada/ where you can find answers to almost any question you'll have through this process.
It seems the majority of the members there are processing through Montreal, but there are a few going through Vancouver (which seems to move much quicker).

Welcome to VJ and good luck to you!! Posted Image

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEnter on K-1 Visa - Question about work (EAD/AP)

I have been approved for my K-1 Visa and plan to enter the United States from Canada this weekend as we are getting married next week! I am moving from Ontario to Michigan and will only be about 10 minutes from the border. I am currently working in Canada and want to make sure I have everything right:

1. Once I enter with my K-1 Visa I will not be allowed to travel back to Canada until I have been approved for Advance Parole (which I file with the AOS and EAD immediately after getting married). Correct

2. After filing my AOS/EAD/AP I cannot work in the US until the EAD arrives, which could be three months or more (I had read somewhere that proof of a pending EAD is sufficient to allow me to work or collect Canadian Employment Insurance). YES, but you will have to wait until you have the actual EAD card in hand to collect EI

3. A pending AOS/AP does not permit me to travel to Canada until the AP is approved and arrives, which could be three months or more (again, is proof of a pending AOS/EAD/AP sufficient enough to allow me to travel across the border?). Correct, and again, you must have the card in hand.

4. I am expected to have absolutely no income for three months or more while I wait for everything to be approved? sucks but true, that's why you need to plan and save ahead of time.

I am hoping that the information I read (I wish I could recall the source) that mentioned proof of pending AOS/EAD/AP's would allow me to at least collect Employment Insurance or commute to Canada to work. Otherwise I will have no income for three months or more and will be missing Christmas/New Year's with the family.

Rules are rules and they have to be followed, but I am hoping that living in a border city would help my cause and allow the pending notifications to allow me to work or cross the border to work. Don't think it matters one bit where you live, like you said, rules are rules.

If we had known this two years ago it would have been more worthwhile to get married first and live apart while filing for a CR-1 instead! We have been together for two years, engaged for one, and I am not about to abandon the K-1 and wait another year to live with her while waiting for a CR-1!

Any information or experiences with this is greatly appreciated!

FYI: This is at the Sarnia, ON/Port Huron, MI border.

Our circumstances meant having to go the K-1 route, and we had to wait a year to be able to prepare and save and save for when my honey came over and wouldn't be able to work, really wish we could have gone the CR-1 route!! Good luck to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of legal name change for the I-129F
seems like something they may send an RFE for.... personally... I'd get the proof to send along with the petition, and have some control over the amount of time delay.... an RFE or possible confusion that missing document could cause may end up being a lot longer than the two weeks it would take you to obtain it...... just my opinion... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConflicting info regarding wait times

Hey everyone! We are new to VJ, so I'll start with a little bit of background info. I'm from Arkansas, and I met my Canadian fiancee online in November of 2010. We fell in love almost instantly and knew we wanted to be together forever! We hired RapidVisa to help us with the K1 process. Our packet was received at Vermont Service Center on June 10, and we are still waiting for NOA2. The people at RapidVisa told us from the beginning that this entire process takes 4-6 months. That is from the time the servicing center receives the packet until the interview time. Montreal will be his interview location. We have been reading some accounts on VJ that really vary from that timeline we were given. We would love to hear from all the Canadians who have gone, or are still going through the K1 process. Thanks for all of your help:)

We had a lawyer that told us 3-5 months total..... NOT TRUE! The lawyer was a complete waste of time and money, wish I have found this place first!! We applied in August of 2010, nothing about our case was unusual, no RFE's and my then fiancee (now husband Posted Image) didn't have his visa in hand until June 30, 2011.... so yeah 10 months total..... sorry for the bad news... and good luck to you!

PhilippinesWhere's your hometown?

QUOTE (pangga @ Mar 1 2009, 10:24 AM) My fiancée was born and raised in the "city of smiles", Bacolod City. Bacolod City is located in the province of Negros Occidental, on the island of Negros, in the Visayas.

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, in the great pacific northwest. I live in a pedestrian-friendly inner-city neighborhood...not too far from the University of Washington and the University Medical Center. Within six blocks of our home you will find a major grocery store, many shops of all types, two movie theaters, countless ethnic restaurants, numerous coffee shops, a post office, and more. Two things that we don't have in our neighborhood are a Filipino grocery store and a Filipino restaurant. If we want to eat at a Filipino restaurant or shop for Filipino food, we will need to go across town.

I have spent a little time living in the Iloilo/Bacolod area in the early 70s. And I remember those days when I have to take the Negros Navigation ferry between the two cities. Very idyllic, the ferry ride was! I wonder if your fiancee knows the Javellana family, who were my friends in Iloilo and Negros and were prominent sugar cane planters during that era. I also fell in love with a girl belonging to the Ledesma/Montinola clan. Sad to say, it did not last as my employer had to transfer me to Davao City. My heart was down, my head was turnin' around, I had to leave my girl in Jaro town! (With apologies to Harry Belafonte.)

Ah, Seattle, Wash., lovely place indeed! I like it, except that it probably rains too much and my arthritis worsens when the rain goes on and on. My job requires me to visit Seattle every now and then. I always stay at a hotel in Kirkland by Yarrow Point and as I drive on the floating bridge over Lake Washington, my heart quivers at the beauty and the greenery of the landscape. Water, water everywhere! You mentioned the University of Washington, the football stadium is quite a site from the bridge and the 520. I wonder if you live close to 45th Street, by the Safeco Tower.

Born and raised in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, also known as the City of Smiles. Hubby's born and raised in Bedford, Indiana.
I miss the sugar plantations, piaya, and chicken inasal! Hubby loves the adobo I make .he has not tried the chicken insal yet...maybe this weekend. :)

I do know the Javellanas in Bacolod and SanCarlos/ Escalante through a childhood friend.

PhilippinesParents consent form?????

Ok thanks for your reply.. Yes I am trying to visit the nearest city hall in my area.. 2 phone number? he doesn't have any contact number aside from his cp number.. otherwise i will give his work number? will it be ok? how much kaya yong notarized letter na un? wla nb other need aside from that? like official letter from my parents? divorced si fiance so dlhin ko na lng yong divorce decree nya.. kukunin ba nila yong pics? para makapag pa develop ulit ako.. How many pics are necessary?

Thanks sis!!!

Kathy

200php lang ang siningil sa akin sa affidavit. If he doesn't have any other phone numbers, his parents or sibling's phone numbers will do. I heard St. Mary's sometimes asks for hand written letters from parents pero sa Prism di ako hiningan. I also brought a copy of my cenomar, just in case hingin pero hindi naman. You need to bring 2 photocopies of your passport, 1 photocopy of your visa kung meron na, and a photocopy of your birth certificate.

PhilippinesParents consent form?????

PhilippinesParents consent form?????
I got my Affidavit of Parental Advice (coz I'm 24) from a lawyer coz our city hall does not have a form for Parental advice and Parental Consent. I only paid 200php. I had my GCP seminar at PRISM on July 10 and they asked for my parental advice. I heard at St. Mary's, aside from the notarized form, they also ask for written consent from parents
nealxetteNot TellingPhilippines2012-07-25 20:19:00
PhilippinesParents consent form?????
I think all lawyers have their own format for Parental Consent and yes, it has to be notarized. When you go to a lawyer with your parent/s they will print out an affidavit for your parent/s to sign. Just give them your name, birthdate, birth place, and fiance's name.

Hi, I have heard rumors about getting a medical examination 10 days prior to the interview; however, I was wondering if I can get it maybe 20 days before hand. Can anyone please answer this for me? Thank you!

PhilippinesUS Embassy is still reviewing my files?

Our interview was Wed 15th. I called today and was told its still at the embassy, visa processing. They are just taking their sweet time finishing up the visa. Remember, the government doesnt care about us.

Kindly inform me when you get your visa. Hope nasa processing lang din yung sa akin at nagkamali lang yung agent. Naiiyak na ako sa sobrang inis sa USEm tapos may nagcomment pa dito na sa halip na mag-advise dinidikdik pa yung pagkakamali namin. haay...

PhilippinesUS Embassy is still reviewing my files?
I called the US Embassy today to find out the status of my visa. The agent told me that they still have my passport and that they are still reviewing my case. I was kind of confused because the consul told me that I was approved and they did not ask for any additional documents. After my interview, I was just told to wait for a text message to pick up my visa... What to do? My fiance already booked our flight.

PhilippinesUS Embassy is still reviewing my files?
When I called I just asked if my visa was already forwarded to 2go Mall of Asia (that's the courier service). She said they still have my passport and still reviewing my case and added that after they're done reviewing it I will receive a text message from them. I asked her how long should I wait, she said it's a case-to-case basis.

Our flight is a month after my interview. I'm just worried because of the term "review". Does that mean I'm under administrative review/processing? I know that could take long that's why I'm worrying.

wow, i saw your timeline. they schedule the interview that far? almost 2 months from your NOA2? now, i'm worried. I thought once your get the NOA2, it will be easier. But i guess, there will be another long wait. Anyway, is the beneficiary allowed to call or it should just be the petitioner?

There was a sudden back logged at NVC kaya medyo natagalan bago namin nakuha ang case number namin. But I heard ok na ulit ngayon. When I scheduled for interview, August 13 was the earliest date available.

Congrats on your approval and goodluck :)

PhilippinesInterview; small issue, hopefully wont be a big problem
I think NBI will just rely on the identification card that your fiance will present to them. If her name is misspelled on her identification cards, I don't know if they will change it. Your fiance should go to a lawyer have get a notarized affidavit that her name was misspelled and bring it to NSO office to have her birth certificate corrected. This is just my opinion; wait for other responses. :)

PhilippinesWhere can a K1 Visa recipient go after arriving in the US

I'm not sure if the Philippines has a visiting program with Canada. She needs to be a US citizen first or you have to file for a Canadian tourist visa after she got her green card.
