K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAugust I-129f Filers
I can relate to everyone here.... our I129F application was received August 13th and the receipt notice was sent to us on September 24. Lately, there's been so much bad news (NY Times, CNN) about the spike in applications and backlog - I thought we were doomed until late this year.

So I contacted my congressman's office a week and a half ago. I remembered a friend telling me they helped when her daughter's green card was delayed. An immigration attorney also told me a letter to my Rep might help. Turns out they have an immigration specialist at the congressman's office. She was very helpful, writing and calling her contact at USCIS to discuss my case.

She told me she would be following up with them yesterday. And this morning, low & behold, we got the good news - an email saying it was approved and on its way to NVC! Maybe it was a coincidence that my congressman's office had just contacted them, maybe not. But I'm glad I called them. It's worth a try.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSome Advice on Fiancee's Daughter
We have a similar situation. My fiancee and her daughter are planning to come to the US together in July (assuming the interview goes OK). She already submitted the packet 3 documents and we've received packet 4 with our interview info. According to my fiancee, there wasn't anything extra needed for her daughter when she submitted the packet 3 forms. We just needed to have passport photos taken of both of them prior to the pre-interview medical exams at the hospital, which are now completed, sealed, and ready to go.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's the best way to contact congressperson?
My congressman's office has an immigration specialist and she was very helpful. I forwarded her the details of our application via email and she got in touch with someone at the service center to discuss it. Shortly afterwards, we had the NOA2 approval. I don't know if it's just a coincidence...

It's worth a try. Good luck with everything!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOne Way Ticket Problem???? Help!
Wow, she must have been stressed when they caused all that confusion and said she needed an extra $2000! Hope it turned out OK. Good luck with everything!

And congratulations on getting the visa. Our interview is July 15... luckily I'll be able to take some vacation time and be there with her. I'm concerned about a snafu like the runaround they gave your fiancee.

FYI for people reading this who intend to also buy 1-way tickets from BKK... I bought 1-way tickets for my fiancee and her daughter from BKK to O'Hare, via Tokyo on United. Had to pay a premium for the 1-way, but there don't seem to be potential issues like the one about going through Dubai.

Again, good luck and enjoy your reunion & wedding!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSetting a Wedding Date
I've optimistically scheduled our courthouse wedding for a week after my fiancee and her daughter arrive in the US. Assuming the visa interview is going to be OK next month. My goal is to get them on my health insurance plan ASAP.

I called our county's circuit clerk office and asked the judges' secretary write a letter on official stationary saying we have a wedding scheduled - with our names, judge's name, date, time, and location. She thought it was a strange request but wrote it up for me anyway.

Of course, couples frequently don't show up for their wedding appointment & there's nothing legal about the letter. But it's further evidence of our relationship and plans. Others on this site said the embassy interviewer asked "when do you plan to get married?"

Just another item to bring to the interview, along with photos, phone logs, travel receipts, etc.

Good luck with everything,

Brian
