United KingdomTravelling back to England for the first time
Hey guys its been a long time since I posted here.
I've been in New York with my husband for 6 months now and have a job and a life here. It's amazing!
I'm travelling back to England on boxing day with my husband but I have a few questions about the process-

Which line do I go through in England?
What forms will I fill out?
My husband and I have the same surname but not on our passports- mine is still in my maiden name- does this affect anything?

Anything else you think I should know would be greatly appreciated!

United KingdomPeople between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~
We just got our notice saying that my case had been completed on Friday. Today I am going to start calling the NVC to check if they have assigned me an interview date. How long has it usually been taking people? When should I call up to get a medical with one of the doctors? Do I have to wait to be assigned a doctor also or do I just call?

When I got to the embassy, we hadn't signed the bottom of the financial support papers so I was given a blue form too. My husband signed the forms and fedexed them to me, I got the papers and my passport picked up and returned back to me, complete with my visa in 6 days.

United KingdomPASSPORT RENEWAL
What happens when I send my passport for a name change but my Visa and immgration stuff was in my maiden name? My visa inside my passport obviously matches the name my passport was issued to, which was my maiden name. Will this cause any problems?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)AOS and ds-3032
I was just reading in another forum that once I get my NVC case number they will then generate these forms for the petitioner. Do I have to wait for them to get mailed to my husband or do we just download them and send them in. Also- how will we know that they have been generated? Do we just have to keep on calling up

I just called up and the AVR had been updated to say our ds 3032 form had been mailed out yesterday.

Ok I emailed my ds 3032 and I sent a hard copy of it to my husband in the states. I also sent all my forms filled in so that when they call for the, he can just send them out.
Now to get on the phone and find my IIN number.......

No, their is a template posted that you should use for email on the wiki, here.

The barcode should be about 1/2 inch tall IIRC, again, check the wiki page for details.

Ok So I made my barcord but it's really small! Is that right? It looks just like a line of dots to me!
Where do I email it to? Do i add them as attatchments or just copy it into the email?

QUOTE (paul. @ Jan 21 2009, 01:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I sent it from within the US, it really is up to you. I'd probably just Airsure it. Remember to e-mail them, they generally email you within 24hrs of that and you're on your way!

I already have my NVC number. I got that yesterday when I called up. So now, I should email and post out my ds 3032 form?
Should I send it from here you think or should I sent it on to Anthony first and then let him mail it from the US?

QUOTE (paul. @ Jan 21 2009, 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ahh, OK. Well I know the answer in that case, you're about 3 weeks behind us so far.

You are now basically waiting on a letter from the NVC stating your NVC number and IIN. The NVC number allows you to use it in conjuncture with contacting them. The IIN is a number required to pay the bills online (much quicker than postal service!).

What I did was bypass the system a little and basically phoned the NVC every day after I knew we were approved on the I-130, as I wanted to get as much done as possible before coming back to England. After a couple of attempts over a couple of days (You have to give the name and DOB of both petitioner and beneficiary to be allowed to talk to them), I found out my NVC number. I then immediately emailed them and mailed them the downloaded copy of the DS-3032, choice of agent form. You will need to produce your own barcode, which is why you need the NVC number. It's on the LingChe wiki shortcut page, how to do that.

Then I started calling about my IIN, they couldn't help me, but luckily it was on the original DS-3032 choice of agent form when it arrived about a week later, so I then used it to pay the AOS bill, $70, it took 2 days to show as paid. Then a few days later, the IV Bill became available to be paid, so I did and then it showed it as "paid" for 3-4 days, then became "not paid" again. Worried, we phoned the NVC and they said I'd pre-empted payment, so just to wait until they wanted payment. They've kept the money though, so I guess as soon as they want it, they'll adjust the status to "paid".

All I know is Anthony got home yesterday from being here in England with me and we had received our NOA2. It didn't say anything other than we had been approved, it was not a guarantee, yadda yadda, but nothing about what steps to take next

Yea I really should have applied for my police certificate earlier but I didn't think we'd get approved so quickly.
How do you know when the best time to pay the fee bills is?

You are perfect! You're doing exactly the same as us!
I am going to send the stuff out today. I'm still waiting on my police certificate but I'll send that on when it comes.
Did the NVC send you the next bunch of forms or did you just download them and send them in?

Do you know the best way to send them so they get there quick and have a minimal chance of getting lost? I was looking on royal mail's website last night and I think I'll send it either international airsure signed for.

I was reading through the guide to going through NVC quickly today as my husband just left me to go back to New York so I'm very lonely. I had a question about the documents that I, as the beneficiary, am supposed to mail into the NVC. Should I mail them from here or should I send them to my husband to mail- eg my birth certificate, passport pictures, copy of passport biographical info etc....
And if I should send them to my husband for him to forward on, what would be the best way to send them? FedEx? or should I rely on the great british postal service!
I also called NVC today and got my NVC reference number. Does this mean that now I can start calling up for my IIN?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)AVR Update
Our AVR message updated to this:

NVC is awaiting return of biographic forms from the petitioner. Once this packet is recieved, allow 6-8 weeks for the reviewing of all documentation. You will be notified of the outcome of the review.

Does anyone know what this means? So far we have only sent in our affidavit of support package

throughout our whole case the AVR has actually been right on schedule. We had heard people having so many problems with it and when I did get through to an operator, they were so nice! It has been a delight to go through NVC- if not a little slow at times!
Off I go to start ringing obsessively again!

How will we know when our case is complete? All our information has been sent in now (and is hopefully all correct!)- will it be updated on the AVR or will I have to call to speak to an operator?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDocumentation needed for Interview @ London
When I go for my interview at the Embassy in London, will I need to take any documentation? All the originals I have of everything eg; birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certificate- are with the NVC so I just presume that they forward them onto the Embassy. Am I correct in thinking this?

So I presume that it would be ok for me to start applying for one now as I don't think it's going to take a year from now until I'll need it

I have been reading bout people's medical tests and how when they get there, sometimes they need extra vaccinations in order to be up to date. Is there a way I can find out what vaccinations I need before I go so I can go to my own doctor and get them done for free?

I still haven't changed my passport to my married name and my husband has our marrige certificate.
If my name isn't changed in my passport but I have used my married name on everything else during my visa process, will this cause problems? When I get to the US, will I be able to use my married name to get my social security number etc or will it be under my maiden name?

Can we mail it in now or do we have to wait until we receive the package from the NVC?

We are still waiting for my police certificate to get to the USA and so are therefore stuck in limbo until that happens.
I had been told that I couldn't go to visit the US while my visa is processing but I have seen other people have visited during the process.
I have never had a visitor visa and have always gone to the USA on the visa waiver program. My husband is busy working and I do have time to go and visit him if it would be at all possible.
Any ideas/ suggestions?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAlmost Done!
Today my husband is mailing in my Immigrant Visa package. We are officially (nearly) done!
So what happens now? Is it going to be a long wait until they tell me I can make my appointment for my medical or will it go pretty fast because with the NVC as soon as we've been sending in forms, they've been being looked at and assessed which has been really nice. We were surprised at how quickly they went over everything.
Maybe I will be there by our wedding anniversary after all! (April 4th!!)
