Keep in mind MOST consulates receive the package within days after NVC sends it to them.

This is NOT the case for Guangzhou, the customs delay, and back-log at GUZ has been 3 months for a very long time.

The package leaves NVC and reaches customs in China where it hangs there for 1.5 to 2 months, and then will be placed in storage by the shipper or consulate until the consulate is ready to "RECEIVE" the case.

why do our applications even get in the hands of Chinese customs it is none of their business about American documents. I under stand the warehouse thing but when the embassy does accept the shipments is no one there smart enough to take the oldest dated ones first. it seems to me everything the us government does has no order or
fairness about it it's like little school kids are running everything and they are not in class half the time.
some people wait for 1 year while others are granted in 2 or 3 months.

ChinaWARNING ATM USE IN CHINA
Here is what happen to me last thursday 3-27-09
I needed money to pay for my new 6 month visa I only had 9 days left on my old visa my atm bank debit card would not work after trying at 4 different machines I went to a bank here and they tryed to scan my card like when you buy something it would not work. this card has worked here in China for the whole 11 months I have been here with no problems ever.
I put my daughter on my account before I came to china. I wrote her an email ask her to go to my bank to see what was wrong here is the email my daughter send me back today.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to Pratville branch so they could help me with the ATM issue on your card. As soon as I told them you were in China and your card did not work, they told me that someone had a fraud scam going on in China that was accessing some of their customers money, so they froze any atm cards that showed transactions made in China!!! The girl at the bank got on the phone and talked to someone who re-activated your card. She said that it should work right now, so go try it and let me know please, Love you
Donna
and it does work now!

good luck guys!! I'll be joining you too.. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

I have a question if they are only doing 7 interviews in 2 weeks does that mean they only work every other day.
Is this the reason they are so slow at getting their job done? while all of our lives are on hold waiting on them.
in 2003 the embassy in moscow was doing 150 interviews a week for USA visas.
And you are saying china can only do 3 a week??????

ChinaGangzhou Embassy very concerned for all of us HA HA
Embassy had recieved our packet 3 5-22-09
I sent the OF-169, I-134 and the DS-230 with the daughters name added as joining us to America.
this is all they ask for in packet 3.
this happened today at 16:48 to us. The embassy phoned my fiancee and said they needed information abouy her 18 year old daughter. my fiancee understanding is they wanted something numbered 365 I know there is nothing numbered 365.
I was home at this time so my fiancee ask the woman if she spoke english SO I COULD TALK TO HER.
HER ANSWER TO MY FIANCEE WAS

"IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS"

So I sent an email to the embassy after that happen and ask them to tell me what information they want now all I can do now is wait 5 to 7 days for an answer from them.

If you returned packet 3 May 22, expect to hear about an interview in August. You should see the packet 4 any day now. They don't care when you have to leave. Your are not required at the interview or even allowed on the same floor of the building. I know it would be nice to come back to the USA together but that is not a concern for the Consulate.

Ok after another week I got a response from wifee's email changing her address. Again very polite and caring email :-)

Dear Ms. X

Thank you for your email and update contact information. According to our records, your case file is still in transit from the National Visa Center (NVC) and may need more time to arrive at this Consulate office. Please be assured that once we receive it, we will process to schedule a visa interview for you, and send an appointment packet with instructions to your update Chinese address. Your patience and understanding is appreciated at this moment.

Sincerely,

After getting pack 3 may 22nd and mailed back next day. the 23rd I email consulate and ask why no pack 4 yet
they answered me same day to tell me to wait 3 months and check back with them.
Now my visa to china expires sept. 26th and that puts me in a worry to see which one comes first now.
Then on top of that Chiunese Government closed down google web site yesterday I lost all over 3600 emails

Plan:
Go to interview. (pass the test)
Wait for visas and book flight to USA, print out boarding passes.
Get visas and go to HK.
Stay in HK for a couple nights.
Get on flight to the USA.

You will be good to go without HK entry permits if they have the K-1 & K-2 visas in their passports.

Transit

14. Chinese passport holders who are in transit through Hong Kong to and from another country or territory may be granted a stay of seven days on each landing without the prior need to obtain an entry permit provided that usual immigration requirements are met, including possession of valid entry facilities for the destination and confirmed onward booking for the overseas journey.

The truth is that I ask about crossing the boarder to Honk Kong !
I did not ask for the real facts of life.
I did not ask what my choice was either or help me make up my mind!

the cheapest air tickets I have found are with SINGAPORE AIRLINES Hong Kong to San Francisco $518.84 and they are the same price all year not going up and down like all other airlines don't fly to Los angles it cost more from sfo to Tulsa $149.20 American Airlines.Total HKG to TUL $668.04 EACH.
this way I will have to book 2 different tickets and it is saving me about $1500.00 going this way for the 3 of us.
After you reach USA you can fly about any where for about $150.00. JUST BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CONNECTION TIMMING IN SFO.

My fiancee told me not to use Ctrip, because they're too expensive! She uses www.qunar.com (Chinese only) to search many different Chinese sites for cheaper tickets. I almost got a flight from Shenyang to Beijing for 230 RMB ($34), but I waited too late to buy. The flight usually costs around 500 - 700 RMB ($74 - $103) on Ctrip, and is over $200 on US sites.

Our NVC out to P3 received on the K3 was also three weeks back in 2006. This was quite out of the ordinary at the time. I had been tracking three possible packages and the timeline was running about six weeks. On a day I calculated we had three more weeks, my wife showed me the P3 on the webcam. Right or wrong, I've concluded that NVC sends some packages that go right through to the Consulate. Maybe they contain expedited cases or other paperwork. Perhaps they fill empty space in those packages with random case files and we got lucky. In three years, I haven't found a more plausible answer to why the rare case sails on to GUZ ahead of the rest but it's one of the reasons I recommend keeping the filing as thin as practical for the circumstances.

to compare . . . my K3 was not expedited by me, so maybe it was random case picked up somehow.

I was a bit suprised how short of notice that we had as far as the interview date goes - On May 5 we learned that our interview was scheduled for June 2. It was a good thing that I was calling DOS everyday, otherwise it would have been another week before we received the interview date with the arriival of our P4. As it was I had to scurry to make vacation plans and purchase airline tickets, so I am glad that I had that extra week to do all of that.

What is the number that you called?

No, other than keeping track of what other people are reporting on CFL there is no real way to determine when GUZ will be scheduling interviews and for which days, just as pushbrk suggests. Speaking from recent personal experience it seems as though GUZ is currently scheduling interviews twice a month - they do 2 batches per month. Back on May 5th there were about 8 of us CFL posters who had our June interview dates scheduled - these dates ranged from June 1-12. No one on CFL had reported having an interview scheduled several weeks prior to May 5th and then about 2 weeks after May 5th another group of CFL posters reported having their interviews scheduled within the later half of June. My advice is to call DOS every day to see if an interview has yet been scheduled - that way you will find out about a week sooner than if you just wait for the P4 to be delivered.

On any given day, GUZ will assign interview dates on every single available day in a given month. So, if tomorrow, they assign 100 interviews for August, those 100 interviews will be spread over the entire month. You have as much chance of the 1st as you do the 30th. The best you can do is keep track of which month they are scheduling for.

250 miles north of HK total cost $596.30 for trip. We stayed 3 nights in Shenzhen for 130 yuan a night 2 nights in HK for 200 HK dollars. Both were nice clean with air condition. I hope I never have to go to HK again in my life.

ChinaNEED HELP FOR NEW VISA
QUOTE (celiothrkn @ Sep 29 2009, 10:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I got a 60-day L (tourist) visa from NY. After staying in China for 2 months, I went to the local Entry-Exit Bureau to get my visa extended (by applying for a new L visa) within China. You can ask a local visa company to do this for you as well. Usually costs 1000-2000 RMB, which is less expensive than having to/from Hong Kong.

EDIT: I should add that the new visa you get within China is 6-months. I ended up staying in China as a tourist for over a year via 2-month -EXTEND- 6-month -EXTEND- 6-month visas.

Yes I know you can do that I did the same with a original 6 month + 6 month + 6month but this is all you can get inside China the local office is only allowed to do this 2 times then you must leave China that is the reason for the trip to Hong Kong opposed to going back to America for a new one but HK would only give me a 30 day visa so now I will only be able to get 2 more 30 visas then another trip to HK or USA. I have been in china for 19 months now and will be here for 2 more months. This time I will try to get another 6 month visa from local office but not sure they will do that for me.

Hey Mike I had a friend in Oklahoma that told me immagration is easy all you got to do is know how to swim a while and the whole government is there to greet you with green card free wellfare and medical care.
So I took his advice and went for a swim. I was not in as good a shape as I thought I was I had to stop and rest for a couple of days in hawaii before I could go on. 3 months later I finnaly made it to china to my surprise there was no one there to greet me and after I am here for only 18 months they tell me I have to leave. china sure has a lot to learn before they can be like America. I think now my big mistake was I sould have went to Mexico much less swimming. But I heard you have to lay low there in Mexico too so you don't get kidinapped or shot in a drug war.
But now I have it all figured out I'm just going to marry my beautiful fiancee and stay in China the rest of my life see I'm getting smarter every day then there is no visas no Obama No taxes no $3800.00 fine for not buying health insurance.

my 6 month single entry visa expires september 26 and I will have to go to Hong Kong to get another one.
do you know if this same visa can be got in Hong Kong and where and for what price. this is the only visa
china has that you can stay longer than 30 day stay at one time.

You can get a visa for China at any of the China Travel Service (CTS) offices in Hong Kong and also from the Visa Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. You can definitely get either a single or double entry Chinese visa in Hong Kong - but the rules for obtaining multiple entry visas in HK seem to be constantly changing, although at the moment CTS is claiming that it can issue multiple entry visas once again.

Incidentally - multiple entry visas can be obtained for stays longer than 30 days at a time - I have one which allows me to stay up to 90 days at a time.

THE VISA I HAD BEFORE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL LET YOU STAY 180 DAYS. IT WAS THE REASON I GOT THAT ONE
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO.

with 2 day to get medical exam

Have your fiancee get her medical done at the Guangzhou United Family Clinic because same day service is standard - we were in and out of there in about 3 hours with exam results in hand. It is also closer to the consulate than the old clinic on Shamian Island and the cost is the same - 800rmb.

5 days hotel at 250 yuan per day $182
2 medical exams 1600 yuan $234.05
interview fee 900 yuan $131.65
total $547.72
does this sound about right for total cost to get visa?

not to my knowledge - i (we) had our interview on 6/10/2009 and upon our approval was told to go to pay 20rmb for post office to receive and on the pink slip it said that it would take 2 business days to get - after 2 days one can pick up at guangzhou post office
i read the pink slip from front to back (2 times even) and did not see anything of that nature saying being able to pick up early or immmediately after getting approval of visa - if it did say that then i would of went that route also - so i guess that doesnt exist in guangzhou china embassy anyway

is there any statistics-how many days does it take to get visa after the interview? I am having intreview in July, going to Guangzhou from Beijing, have to stay in a hotel and would like not to stay there for too long ...if it is 2 days to wait-thats ok, but if its longer... sad.gif

I think there is a scam working in Guangzhou with getting a visa. with 2 day to get medical exam results and
3 days to pick up visa then you pay post office to get your visa. plus consulate sends passport with visa to post office but the will not mail it to you any where in china. So you can not stay in Guangzhou less than 5 days. You get a 10 minute interview for $134.00 plus the $876.00 I have paid for translated & notarized documents the CO don't even look at you stay in hotel for 5 days IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY not service!
