Asia: East and PacificJapan K-1 interview
My fiance will recieve "package 3" in a couple of weeks. Is there anyone who's gone through the K-1 process in Japan that would know how long the wait is for an interview after she gets the paperwork?

We're trying to get a K1 fiance visa. The NVC send out the packet to Tokyo on Aug 11th and my fiance still hasn't gotten anything. About how long does it take?

She actually called the embassy and paid 1,500 yen and they told her they'd call her back tomorrow. What's up with that?

My spouse is waiting in Japan for her interview. The problem is she's a Korean citizen. The embassy's website said it would take a lil longer if the beneficiary is a non-japanese national. Anybody have an idea how much longer it takes?

Hmm. Korean citizen from Japan whom you first met in person in the Philippines. I think that means your visa goes through China.

LOL!!! You're probably right. I better start calling China.

Asia: East and PacificPreliminary Interform Form....
My fiance is getting her visa from the Embassy in Japan but she is not a Japanese national. She's a Korean and Filipino citizen. She just recieved her "Preliminary Interview From." Anybody know how much longer we have? I emailed the the embassy and asked what other steps we had left and asked for an approximate time frame but their answer didn't give us any details. Some info would be great. Thanks a lot!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)It has been 1 week and approved fiancee petition hasnt even been received at NVC yet
Yeah same here... the automated system said they didn't recieve my petition. Its pretty hard to get a hold of a real person there. They have this system that will hang up on you instead of putting you on hold if they're too busy. Best bet is to call around 11pm est. Thats the only time I got through... and I was so excited that when she asked me for my fiance's bday I gave her the wrong year. I can't believe the customer service person actually laughed at me... lol!! oh well.

It shouldn't take long so hang in there

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA question for those with a visa
Thanks guys! I read the review for Japan... it doesn't seem bad at all. Hahaha... my fiance is on VJ all day long reading everything you guys post and she's getting more and more exicted. I'm glad that we can all come together here to keep each other informed so it doesn't feel like we're doing this all on our own.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA question for those with a visa
Me and my fiance are excited about our NOA2!! We were wondering what kind of questions they ask during the interview. Should I make some flash cards for her?? LOL. Just curious. If anyone could remember any questions they were asked then that would be great...

I know a lady who married her long time bf when his visa was about to expire and during the interview after being married for two years they asked them questions like: "What colors is her toothbrush?" "What side of the bed do you sleep on?" I thought that was great!! lol... but what happens if you really don't pay attention? OMG... what if you're color blind?!?!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI need some help
Ok guys.. its crunch time. A lot of us got approved around the same time so I'm sure somebody out there can help and this can help a lot of other people.

What will my fiance need me to send her when she gets her packet from the embassy? I've already got my "I-134, Affidavit of Support" and the "Fiance Letter of Intent." Anything else?

I figured that a lot of the time between Packet 3 and the appointment is spent scrambbling around for all the paperwork. If you had it all together when you got the packet then you could just turn around and send it back completed and get your interview appointment.

Thanks everyone! B)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWoo Hoo!!!! Packet 4!!!
My fiance finally got her interview letter. It took longer than usual because she's in Japan but not a Japanese citizen. On Oct. 17th she recieved a letter asking for more information and the paper said it could take several more months!! We were so happy when she got her interview letter yesterday!! She should be here for Christmas. Its gonna be a very merry Christmas.... if you know what I mean... LOL!!!

Middle East and North AfricaSo what do ya'all do with your SO online???

I must not have had enough coffee yet, cuz when I saw the title of this thread I was thinking about something else  Let's just say it brought back so many memories of our webcam days.

Jackie

Hahahah!! Pervert

We also played Yahoo games but I'd always beat her at pool so she didn't like that and she'd beat me at the word games so now we just talk.

I suggest Skype. Its free!! Woo hoo... that's the best part. You can talk to each other just like a phone call for nothing. The new version of Yahoo Messenger does it also but Skype is the original and I like the quality of the call better... plus the webcam works better on Skype. Almost every night I fall asleep talking to her.

Go through YouTube or simular sites and exchange links... then start them at the same time while talking on Skype and laugh together.

Webcams are always benificial... 'nuff said

Search for plane tickets for her flight here... gives you something to look forward to

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarch NOA1 date, but no RFE yet.
I originally sent my petition to the CSC. I just sent back my RFE. All they wanted is some from to know if we met through an internatioal marriage broker or if I'm a criminal. Seems like a waste to me. Why don't they include that form in the petition package so they can have it from the beginning? Anybody have any idea how long I have left???

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLease Help

Quick question. When they send you an RFE does that mean they just started looking at or they're almost done with it?

Everyone who filed after 3/6/06 and before the new I-129F form came out (sometime ealier this month) got or will get an RFE for IMBRA. Just means they need this info before they can process your application. You can use the following link to the USCIS site to register so you can get case status updates online, email notifications and estimated processing times. https://egov.immigra.../jsps/index.jsp

That sucks... I've been checking that website and its been giving me the same message since May

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa???

Hahaha... I'm going to visit her again in Tokyo on the 29th of this month. I should just go and marry her. Aww... but then I'd need to start all over again with another process. Thats it!! I'm moving to Japan!

Actually in your case, that would be a better way. The US Consulate in Tokyo allows USC's that are not resident in Japan to file an I-130 for their alien spouses who are resident in Japan. After the I-130 is approved, your spouse would have an interview at the US Consulate in Tokyo for a CR-1 visa. A much better visa as it result in Permanent Resident Status on entry. SHould take about 3 months from start to finish.

Go to the DCF forum to find out more... but this is the quickest and best route for you IMHO...

DCF Tokyo would be a solution. Filing could be accomplished w/in a one week visit, if you can get married tout suite.
Read the Guide to get a clue and see what you think: http://www.visajourn...h...om&page=dcf

Yeah, but I already started the process with the K-1 Fiance Visa. Is it a good idea to start doing it another wa now. I don't want to confuse these people. But it is tempting... what excally would I have to do??

I don't know anything about Direct Consular Filing, but if you go there to marry, might that be an option?

Just a thought?

Best wishes, Jen

Yeah, but then I'd have to start all over again with a K-3 visa. Wouldn't it be great if she got her packet while I was in Japan with her? I wish it'd be done by then.

Yes!! How long will you be there?

Just for a week :( I met her mother and her brothers in the philippines and now her dad wants to meet me. So, he offered to fly me out to Tokyo.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa???

What you are suggesting MIGHT HAVE BEEN possible had you not filed for the K1.... Now the USCIS knows there is an intent to marry.

She will need to return and wait for her interview.

Thanks for the replys. I know its not a good idea for her to come here on a tourist visa and then get married. I just didn't see the difference between her having an interview here or there. But... I don't make the rules. Hahaha... I'm going to visit her again in Tokyo on the 29th of this month. I should just go and marry her. Aww... but then I'd need to start all over again with another process. Thats it!! I'm moving to Japan!

Hi! Best wishes to you and Good luck with that too! But ,remember if you marry her in Japan ,you will not be able to bring her over to the U.S with the tourist visa and on the K-1 visa petition as well as the K-1 gonna be denied. So ,basically after you get married her in Japan you will have to file for a totally new process again and its gonna be an obtaining a Spouse visa process and the visa type is gonna be called as a K-2 or K-3 then i dont remember excactly..So ,thats gonna be a beginning of the total new process.
Though,i dont know when excactly you have filed for the K-1 visa ,but it will take about 6 month maximum for her to obtain it. So if you dont marry her while in Japan you will be able to bring her over to the U.S much faster on the K-1 visa and marry her in the U.S. Also, the dissadvantage iof by marrying in the Foreign country is that the Marriage Certificate which is gonna be issued in the foreign country thus Japan is gonna be written on the language of the country where the people were married and you will have to translate it intoEnglish later with the notary verification when filing for the Adjust of Status in the U.S.
Ok,its just an advise.
But do what your heart tells you to do!
Best Wishes.
Sincerely.

I want to thank everyone for the advice. Too bad its not what I wanted to here... LOL! I'm just trying to find the quickest way to be with my fiance. I'm sure everyone is feeling the same way. Thank God for Skype!! We talk and see eachother just about everyday but its not the same as being there with the person you love. I want to wish everyone luck and much happiness. Wait... I have an other idea. Mabye the CSC will let us go and help process applications on our spare time to help speed up the process. Good idea, huh?? I think we should start calling and emailing them about it. Or... just wait *sigh*

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa???
Okay here's my idea. My fiance lives in Japan. She as been to the states a few other times and she can get a tourist visa fairly quick. Now here's my question. If she came here on the tourist visa to visit me is there anyway for her to have her interview here instead of doing it in Tokyo? So instead of going back and forth they'd just send the packet to me and we could get it done here in the States before her tourist visa expired. If anyone has any info on that please let me know.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen to enter the US?

Thanks everyone!

We downloaded the I-129f from the USCIS website. It's got at the top that it expires 12/31/06. At the bottom of every pay it says Form I-129f (Rev. 05/23/06) N.

Is this the new I-129f form?

How is this form different from the previous I-129f?

Why would i get an RFE?

Thanks guy n gals,

Phil

P.S. I'm home now Lina thanks for asking. Never easy saying goodbye, but this will be the last time. Had a great time! Can't wait to move there.

Basically a new law was passed and they didn't update the I-129F in time so they had to delay the process further buy mailing everyone a one page form. So download the newest one with all the required info so you don't get the RFE with that one page. It'll save you a lil time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat form do I need if I am changing my address?

First off, sorry if this is not the place to post this, but I did some searches and couldn't find anything. Hopefully someone can help me out.

I am moving in a couple weeks and need to notify USCIS of my address change. I currently have a pending application for a K1 visa (I am one of the recalled cases, because of IMBRA). I found form "AR-11", however the directions say that it is for the non-US citizen to report a change of address. My question is, is this the form I would use to change the address for my application, or is their another form?

Thanks,

I have heard of others who have changed their address by a simple phone call to customer service (1-800-375-5283).

In fact if you read the NOA1 you recieved it states:

"...If you move while this case is pending, call customer service when you move."

Yeah... if you're the American Citizen you just need to call the 800 number. I remember hearing that option on the never ending automated phone system that they have

You think our government would have better websites than that. Its kinda scary if you think about it. It takes them so long to get paperwork processed... can't make websites that work.
