i read that for married residents, you only have to wait 3 years of being a resident.. so I can apply 3 years after I got married? after I got my 2 year resident card? or 3 years after I got my 10 year resident card? and.. do i have to apply according to the date? like if the green card says resident since 11/05 do i have to apply after 11 of '08?

Really put up a tough fight to gain full custody of my kids, not only to avoid child support payments, but to make sure they were getting proper care. Its rare for a guy to get full custody, but was worth the battle. State of Wisconsin is really rough on dads for child support, threaten you even if you are making your payments, Happened to a friend of mine and got hit with 50% of his gross wages when his wife petitioned for the divorce so she could screw around with another guy. My wife divorced me because she didn't think I could support her life style after being severely injured in an auto accident. But I came back, cost me $25,000.00 to get my two kids, but I got them.

Later met a woman beyond my wildest dreams, only shortcoming of that was having to deal with the USCIS, but we got through that as well. Actually, everything worked out for the best, but didn't seem so at the time.

my situation wasn't that bad, its just that my ex, sending me the court while i was unemployed, wasnt a very nice gesture, i was unemployed for more than a year, and i tried to send some money whenever i had extra, u know the unemp checks are not a lot of money... so for the court is like i wasnt paying what we agreed, but they never looked that i was because i was unemployed.. now with a job i dont mind they withold from the check..but, i wanna make sure uscis doesn't see as i didnt wanna pay

good morning people.. finally, using vj for an immigration question instead of silly political discussions.. The guide for naturalization documentation is quite clear, now, I have some issue going on paperwork wise with child support. The guide says that if I have a dependent child to show proof of payments, court orders, etc... now, when my ex-wife and I divorced, we had a civil agreement (not court mandated) of my providing a certain amount every month, voluntarily... which I complied, after several months I got laid off from my job, and went on unemployment, obviously the payments were more difficult to make since I was unemployed for more than a year.

This year my ex-wife had the courtesy of sending me the court to intervene because the amount we agreed upon was not being satisfied. The court then decided to take CS payments from my unemp check, etc etc, I got a new job and CS is taking payments from there as well.. now, should I just include the court order documents (which explain a debt of xxx amount and they intervened) and the garnished amounts thereafter, or should i include as well the bank statements showing i transfered money to my ex-wife voluntarily before the court, and explain I couldnt meet the payments because of my work situation?

Happy new year to everyone... wishing for all the vj'ers who are still waiting for their interviews to be approved soon!

I had my interview today, it went fairly easy. Got to the Charlotte USCIS office at 1:35(appt at 1:45). It was a fairly slow day so there were only about 5-6 applicants for the N-400 interview. An officer called me, she went through all the 10 pages of the N-400, verifying every single question. I got a small delay, since I thought I had listed all the travels I've had in the last years, but it didn't print! I told the officer all the dates I've traveled, since the immigration guys in Frankfurt are very well organized, and they stamp the passport by page and the In-Out stamps are next to each other (go German organization!).

After that, the officer asked me to write down a question (from the study guide). Then she asked me to repeat a question from the guide out loud. After that she asked me the random 5 questions from the guide, and that was it. I went to the waiting room, and got my letter for the oath! easy peasy!

so, in the NOA it says that the green card has been extended for 1 year.. how do u get that extension? have to go to the local CS with the NOA and passport? they're gonna send a EAD?

Ok, so we're getting ready to file to lift conditions for Terry's permanent residency. If we have everything else including birth certificates for all three of our children, adoption decrees for the older two, our mortgage, tax returns, joint bank account info, joint utility info, etc...do we really NEED the affidavits or is that more if you're lacking in the other stuff?

Michelle, I'm pretty sure you and I were around at the same time originally when we did K1 and AOS and all that. Been too busy in the meantime to be around here! But when we got to needing to figure out what to do to lift conditions, well...where else do you go? wink.gif Anyway...you're definitely right. At this point, the immigration process doesn't seem nearly so scary and the gathering of stuff was lots easier (to the point that I ALMOST forgot to put the check in!) and I'll have so much going on that I'll probably barely think about it for the next 6 weeks or so as to whether we've gotten an NOA yet or not...but when his conditional card ACTUALLY expires...? If we haven't gotten an NOA by then...? Yeah, I'll be fidgety and nervous and my kids will probably be trying to figure out why mommy is freaking out now. biggrin.gif I'm good at it, but now it happens because one kids wakes another up...not because I haven't heard anything from USCIS.

Personally I think I was getting more frustrated with having to gather everything AGAIN (some or even most of which is the exact same ####### they asked for with AOS and at least for us a lot of it hasn't changed...except adding in adoption decrees and birth certificates) to send AGAIN with another check we can't really afford to write in the middle of the holidays when we're both working full time and have 3 kids to keep up with when we're not working!

BUT, that being said, it does make me nervous sometimes to think that if some stick up his/her butt adjudicator is having a bad day when he/she sees our file, we might end up having to jump through still more hoops or risk having them start proceedings and, let me tell you, if that happens, that adjudicator will wish they were never born. If they even CONSIDER making me a single parent by sending Terry back, THEY will have me and my three children on THEIR doorstep (AT HOME) by whatever means I can find to stalk them and make their lives even more miserable than they already are and we will STAY THERE until they change their minds. Anyway, that is my one nagging fear...that it's in their hands to screw with our entire lives...and it's not just me and my husband anymore. There are three little ones who depend on him besides me to help keep us all going.

We sent it several days before Christmas. Says they received it 12/26 and the date on the NOA1 is 1/8/08.

Ok, was all prepared to get the NOA1 and have it say, like everyone had been saying, that our app to TSC had been forwarded to CSC but when we got it today it said that it was being processed in Vermont. Has CSC stopped taking the transfers and now they're going to EAC across the board or what? Is Vermont a good thing? I mean, I know it's inevitably better than it staying at TSC (as always, this I even remember back from our K1!), but is EAC better than CSC at this point?
