We were at Gene's work picnic yesterday. It was good. Lots of good salads. I made a tabouli salad...one guy said...is that tabouli yours? I said yes...he said, "ah! the tabouli queen is here!" I later said to Gene, that even if his co-workers liked it, maybe I should bring something else to a potluck? laughing.gif So, we weren't that hungry at suppertime. Just cleaned my fridge out, and heated up some leftovers.

Tonight I think some rainbow trout.

Oh Carla,..I have not had a good tabouli since I left Australia...do you have a recipe you could share for it?

CanadaMilitary ID ...confused.
I got my MIL Id card before I got my SSN. YOu need to be registered in DEERS though before the card can be issued. Also now,..dependants cards, are now stating SSN ON FILE, the physical number no longer appears.

Well let me expand on that. My children had their cards re-issued in January, because they got their ITIN replaced with a SSN. Their old cards just had their alien number on them. The new ones now have "SSN on FILe" on them. MyMIL ID still has my SSn on it, til the next time I replace it, then mine will say the same as the kids. Its a new process tahts being implemented slowly, and they have started with dependants.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOk, the time has come for me to start my I-751
Ok,..Brief review of my story

Moved to California thanks to K1 in Dec 03
Married February 04
Moved to Germany thanks to US military orders March 04.
Returned to the US for 3 months in July 04 to do AOS,..all my mail was going to my In-laws.!
Came back to Germany, made a few trips home to Australia, but always returned here.
Its now time to start lifting conditions, and I start to panic, what the hell do I do??

After looking over paperwork it states that if your overseas due to US Government orders, you can simply apply to lift conditions upon return on orders to the US, as long as its within 90 days of return. Ok, so that was a relief, be it for all of 30 seconds. My CPR will still expire, and so will my Green card, which technically means I have abandoned my residency. What happens if I want to return to the States for a holiday to visit my hubbys family before we officially go home??

So, I ring the USCIS office in Frankfurt. Got a lovely man named Tom, who helped me incredibly. He advised me to still lodge the I-751, along with a copy of the mil orders, and all other relevant "proofs" , that go with it. He said that once they see the mil orders they will either process it and approve it straight away, or simply file it away till we return stateside. If the later is the case, they will send an acknowledgement saying the paperwork is on file, and to simply notify them once we return to the States.

If I do want to return to the States in the interim, I can simply, once again, take my Military Id card, a copy of the orders, and a printout of 8 CFR 211-1 A6. he said if the guys at POE try to give me a hard time, throw the copy of the CFR at them, and they have to allow me in country.

Got off the phone feeling a whole lot better, knowing my life wont be on hold again,....
Hope this helps some of the Military folk out there, who may face the same situation,...

Desert Fox,...

I'm not in the country anyways, and can file within 90 days of returning Stateside if I really want to do it that way.

It's called being on U.S Government orders. So really your point was mute. I was looking for some encouragement, not a wi$eA$$ comment,...

Ok,..as you may have read in my other post in this forum, Im due to start my I-751 stuff. well technically, I coulda started it a while ago, as my 90 day window for lodgement started on April 26.

Here, I sit today, shuffling papers and not really motivated to start. My situation is a lil different. You see, my hubby is military and we have been overseas since a month after marrying. I got through the AOS ok, I guess because alot of the paperwork stuff was till fresh in my mind, and I was newly married, and totally motivated. I even travelled back to the States for my interview for it. Technically, I dont have to lodge the I-751 till within 90 days of returning stateside on military orders, But on good advice from the Consulate where I am located, they suggested I file anyways. It will either be approved without interview because we are Military, or it will be filed away in my file til I return. I have nothing to loose really. So, why am I so unmotivated to do this. I mean, I have actually completed the fillable form, and have plenty of evidence of support, thats not the problem. It's the whole putting it together and sorting through stuff thats getting to me. I should be feeling so excited that after this I wont have to worry about this sorta stuff for me again, (still have daughters I-130's to do).

Any advice,...?? :help:

Just me again with another little update,....

After all those dates were thrown around at the start of this thread, I finally have something to report,...

I received my "Receipt Notice " I-797c today in the mail here in Germany. was posted from laguna Niguel on 17 July.

The notice date on my paper says 06/29/06....so, there ya go...WOOOO HOOOOOO....

It says" Your alien card is extended one year employment and travel authorised.
Processing your form will require a minimum of 330 days. If you have not heard
from us within 11 months, then you may contact this office."

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,.....330days #######??...CSC says its processing receipt notices with a date of 16 January 2006, as at 19 July. Thats only like 184 days or close to it...so I hope they dont start slowing down now,....

Anyways,..Im just glad I have the one year extension letter in my hot lil hands,....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionA lil update
ok,..

I sent my application to CSC on June 22 2006 from a US military base in Germany.
According to my return receipt mailing notification, USCIS received it 28 June 2006.
According to Certified trackable mail, on the USPS site, they said they never delivered it til 29 June,.2006.
I just rang the National Customer Service Number, and after explaining, The IO looked me up on the system, and said Ma'am, you were receipted into our System on July 15, which was last Saturday.
Now, Im not complaining because now I know they definately received it, But I didnt think they could gimme that sort of info, according to all other reports the I-751 is untrackable, and no information about it available.

Guess, it just goes to show, it really does depend on the IO, and how much they wanna help you.

Make me feel better just knowing ya know,......lol

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOk, Ive bitten the bullet
GOOD luck with it Mecca,...

And BobKatz,....

Mine is sent, received, and I have the I-797c saying I've been extended another year etc etc, already. I had a lot more to prove than others,. 1. We moved Overseas a month after marrying. 2. I have no residency stateside except for that one month, and 3. We dont have lease agreements, or a mortgage, or a host if utilities bills to fall back on like many others stateside, so I compensated in other ways. That and the fact, that my hubby deployed a month after we got overseas, made it harder to prove co- habitation, and other things. He was gone for 12 months outta of the 21 months we had to prove a life together......

If you read up the list, my list of items was not that extreme. But, in the end, I was comfortable with what I sent...

Cheers,....Jodee

OK guys, as you all know from a post I made a few weeks ago, I was procrastinating about sending in my I-751. After much ado, and some 200 odd pages of photocopies, I have it ready to go...(dont panic, I did a duplicate copy, what Im sending is only about 110 pages,...lol). Always pays to have an exact copy of whats sent, so if any questions are asked, or it gets lost in the mail, you already have a head start,...

I have to thank Meauxna for some words of encouragement, and logical answers to probably some stupid questions, but non the less, Thanks MEAUXNA!!!

I have one last question, and my brain is fried,.....whats the best way to send this thing in, so I know it gets there. It was a just over two years ago I sent in my AOS and other stuff, but I honestly cant remember how I did it. Being overseas on a military base, we do have USPS facilities, though somewhat reduced in services offered. Can anyone refresh my memory as to how I send this thing,...so as I get a response that its been delivered to the PO Box at Laguna Niguel CA.

and one more question,...Can it be tracked at USCIS online, or no???

Thank you guys,....
