Ok guys, I just read the letter that I just recently wrote a post about and I am panicking! I thought this AOS stuff comes AFtER he comes to the US on the K3 visa. My visa classification says CR-1 on this letter that was just sent for the AOS Fee and choice of agent!! If anyone can clarify why my visa classification is changed when my case has already been forwarded to the embassy, please let me know! thank you!

Hi Heather, you are nervous today. Relax and take a breath. The NVC will continue to process things for your I-130 while also processing the I129f. The papers you received are for the I-130 which goes with the CR-1. Fill them out and return them. They won't interfere with you K3 129f.

Yes I know, lol, I am just trying to figure out the best route. Does CR-1 take a lot longer than the k3 or not that much difference in length? Yeah, I'm just nervous because I'm a silly person that likes to plan stuff out, but can't do that for the government!! LOL

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 INTERVIEW QUESTION
I wrote an email to our embassy and they asked only for the I-134 for our k3 visa application. I have been hearing the I-184 is only after our spouses get to the US.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 cover letter??
Hey everyone, how does this sound for a cover letter? Any feedback as to how I can make this sound better would be greatly appreciated! Or should I even include it? I also made a table of contents. See below:

To Whom It May Concern:

This I-134 package contains both the I-134 and supporting evidence of Heather Marie Farrell, spouse of Romani Wadea Agaypi, and also the I-134 and all supporting documents of Daniel J. Farrell III, father of Heather Marie Farrell, and cosigner of beneficiary Romani Wadea Agaypi. Heather will be the primary supporter for Romani. Daniel is the secondary. Heather and Daniel have agreed to provide all financial assistance necessary for Romani. Please consider all of the following documents in your review and if any further financial documentation is needed, please notify Heather or Daniel immediately so that the situation can be addressed. Thank you.

Sincerely,

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp! I-134 and D-156 Question 22...how do you fill out the recent version?
Hey everyone! My husband was trying to fill out his D-156 today, but question number 22 on the most recent version, "When do you intend to arrive in the US?", only allows space for an expected date. Of course we don't know when he will arrive as he doesn't even know his interview appointment info. It does not allow space to type letters, just a date. We thought to attach a sheet of paper for the answer, "when the visa is issued". Do you think that is the right way to go about filling it out?

Also, on my I-134, I'm thinking to make a cover letter and a letter of intent explaining my father as a backup co-signer. He checked "do not intend to make specific financial contributions", thinking that he does not have knowledge right now as to specifics, just that he can provide general financial support in case I can't. What is your opinion as to whether this is correct or not? thanks so much!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about interview!!!
Hello everyone! Do you think the fact that we are married but have not had a marriage in the church (ceremonial), but only by government marriage only...that this will effect our outcome in the interview? We plan on going back to egypt for a ceremonial marriage later when i can get my family to go over there and plan it out well. Let me know what you think, this question has me a little concerned.

Hey everyone! Getting excited here, and I know you guys are too! I just wanna say good luck to everyone, and special congratulations to everyone who's husbands and wives are coming soon!

I wanted to ask you guys if there seems to be smaller wait time between when you send packet 3 and when you receive the interview letter in packet 4. that's what I've been noticing from recent timelines. We just sent our packet 3 out and we are waiting for the interview letter. My husband said it was weird cause in his packet they had duplicates of papers, like one paper said it would take 10 days and another said 6 wks! We were thinking the one with six weeks was the old wait time. Let me know what you guys think! thank you so much for your help!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview waiting list =-(!
Hey guys! I wrote to the Egyptian embassy about when we can expect an interview time, they said my husband is on a waiting list for an interview slot and they will contact me when they schedule him. It's been about a week and a couple days since we sent the packet. I just saw that some other people with Egypt timelines had theirs in a week and I got so excited lol. Does anyone have any idea about how long it might take to get off the list? Has anyone ever received a response like that before? thanks guys, this is probably a stupid question because everyone's case is different. Just wanted to bring it up as anxiety starts to kick in.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long to wait for an interview?
Hey everyone...what should be my cutoff before I start pushing the embassy a little for the interview date? I have been emailing them, and we are now coming up on our 3rd week since we sent packet 3. The latest news I heard was that he is on a waiting list pending an interview slot. Does that mean he is most certainly going to get an interview then? How much longer should we wait before I start pushing? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks a lot!

I am getting married next month and had hoped my husband wouldn't be too far behind me coming back to the US. After reading through some posts I am now so discouraged and sad. I didn't realize it is going to take so long. I won't even be able to visit him as it's so expensive.

I totally understand where you're coming from, I felt that way too in the beginning, but trust me, it is so worth it in the end. I tried actually to live in Egypt, but I only lasted about 9 months, couldn't find a decent job. Have you thought about trying that? You could potentially live there during the process. Hang in there hun! Everything will work out for the best!

Hey everyone, it's been about 6 weeks and counting since my husband's interview at the Cairo embassy, and all we have been hearing is "pending the officer's final review". Someone informed me that it might be part of a security check process. Does anyone know how I find out if he is going through these security checks? Who should I contact? the embassy isn't helping too much, and I read somewhere that the state department in the US does them. Please let me know if you have any information. thank you so much everyone!

Hey everyone, I know I have been writing this different ways, but I will approach it now from another angle. Let me know if anyone knows...

Ok, so it has been one month and a half since my husband's interview and I keep getting responses to my emails from the Cairo embassy telling me, "pending the officer's final review" even though the officer told him he would receive his visa in a month. So, after reading everyone's response to my emails, I called the DOS thinking that they were perhaps running security checks on him. However, when the woman on the phone looked up his case, it was not in their office for the security checks and they told me that they only had a few notes from the embassy when they first received our case. So I am wondering if maybe he isn't going through security checks if his case isn't at the DOS (because it was to my understanding that they run some of the high profile checks there)??? Or, might the embassy be running them??

I called the Cairo embassy also and after speaking to two people, could not give me any more detailed information no matter how many times I asked to speak to an American, get the name of any officer, or even any specifics on the case. total waste. Any other suggestions or any responses as to finding out the specifics of my husband's case would be helpful, and perhaps helpful for others experiencing delays.

I also want to give special thanks to all those who shared their experiences because it was all of you who helped me figure out some potential ways to uncover the problem! thank you so much, I love you all!

did you call your senator or your congressman they might help you and call the USA embassy to figure out whats going on
Good luck and my best wishes for you

Yes I did write them some emails, my congressman and senator...we will see what happens, but thanks so much!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBeing reviewed for visa issuance
Well, after receiving "pending officer's final review" since Romani's approved interview one month ago, I got a "being issued for final review. Once this process is completed, he will receive his visa in 10 days". the question is, has anyone received that response before? And if so, how long did it take to get through this final processing stage? I still want to figure out if he is undergoing security checks. Called DOS, called the embassy, wrote to congressman and senator. Nothing yet unfortunately. thanks guys.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOfficer's Final Review??? What is that???
So please if anyone knows the answer, just let me know...it has been a month since my husband's interview, and he was told he would receive his visa in a month. In two days it will have been a month, and the last two times I have emailed the cairo embassy, they reply "It is pending the officer's final review. We can then process to conclusion." I have no idea how long that takes. A few weeks, a few months??? ohhh man...i'm trying not to be paniky...also, how does that work? Does the officer do a detailed review of the case one last time before the visa goes out? I don't get it. thanks guys!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion!! Visa issuance!!
Ok, so after receiving the message "pending the officer's final review" a million times from the emails I sent to the Cairo embassy after his interview on Sept. 11, I just received a response saying, "The visa has been issued. It will be reviewed and assembled and mailed to your husband later by the DHL." Does that mean that they are still reviewing it? No more security checks? the email before this one they said, "after the review the visa will take about 10 days to reach your husband". Does anyone know if I am in that 10 day period? I really hope so...if anyone has any ideas as to what this means, let me know! thank you!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa issuance question...
QUOTE (YuAndDan @ Nov 3 2008, 09:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Firstly, LETS APPLY SOME LOGIC HERE: WHY would they send the passport to the USA??? It is needed by the foreign citizen to ENTER the USA, so it WILL be sent to the foreign citizen.

The visa is printed and applied to passport by the US consulate or Embassy where the visa is interviewed for.

TIMELINES: http://www.visajourn...t...pt&dfile=No (Approx 2 weeks after interview on average)

What I am trying to ask, because I had read some things online, that sometimes the passport is sent to the DOS, who will put the visa in, and then send it back to the US embassy in Egypt, or mail it to the Egyptian citizen directly. I am not sure if the embassy in Cairo has the authority to put the physical visa in the passport. What I am trying to understand is not the general timeline from visajourney, but what happens at the time of visa issuance, and the process it undergoes up to the point of being mailed. then I need to know an approximate timeline from the time of issuance to the time it reaches the beneficiary. the timelines on this site are not that specific in this particular stage I am in, which is why I would like any specific case examples anyone might have as to their personal situation. I appreciate the response though. I have been waiting almost two months since after his interview, but it is what happens after the officer's final review up to the point of being mailed that I am trying to research.

When the visa has been issued...how long does it usually take to send in mail? Also, is the passport sent to the US and back to the country of the beneficiary? or is the visa issued in the embassy? Middle East and North AfricaObstacle for K1??

I asked my husband, and he said that if he travels before he graduates from institute, he should be ok, but if he graduates, he's in God's hand, and it's up to the army whether they want him or not. He also says that if he's going to be a dr. or engineer, the army will most likely take him.

Whether the army wants him or not is a gamble. I really don't understand the rhyme or reason to it, but from what I understand from my husband, it changes from year to year depending on the needs of the army. My husband wasn't needed, but his brother and all of his friends have served.

So, in short, no filing a K-1 won't negate the army requirement.

I haven't yet filed for a K-1, but I will be looking into doing so soon...however, my fiance is Egyptian, and he has a military requirement after he graduates from his institute. If I do file the K-1, will he not have to fulfill that requirement? Does anyone know about this? Thank you!

If he emigrates before his requirement obligation begins then I imagine not. Kind of hard to do it if you are not in the country. How that will affect him in the future should he want to return for any reason I do not know.

Escaping your army duties if you're asked to serve is a one way ticket to jail (and torture) if he should ever return to Egypt. Don't mess with the Egyptian beauracracy. You won't come out ahead.

Thanks Rahma, do you know the process for him to get through this requirement? Is there a form he must fill out for this? Is there any way to know?

Middle East and North AfricaObstacle for K1??

Fwaguy -- it's not exactly that simple in Egypt. There is a process that he needs to follow.

I am sure one of our members with specific experience will be along soon to explain.

Thank you very much. I noticed you went through the Texas center...how was their pace with your documents? Were they about average in processing, or did they take a bit longer? I think I have to go through them as well if I am to file. Do you know anything more about this process to bypass the military requirement or heard anything about it? Thanks so much once again.

Middle East and North AfricaIs religion of importance?
How does religion factor in with the visa, and does it have an impact on time or anything? My fiance is Christian from that area...I am not sure if it is easier or still as difficult as if he were Muslim.

Middle East and North AfricaHas anyone get the visa in 2008?
Hey E&M! Thanks for your posts, I needed to see those, I am happy to see someone in a slightly similar situation as me. However, you're further along in the process, I haven't filed my I-130 yet. In fact, I go to the oh-so-wonderful consulate tomorrow to see what they have to say about it and my options. I've been here about 6 months as well, and was married after the "law" or "game" took effect. Would you say DCF is the way to go? I am not sure, just researching posts. Also, I went through the marriage game...and I figured out how to get around it...there is no way they can make it against the law, but they give the excuse it's the Egyptian government's problem, which actually has no problem. No game between them, just the American consulate playing the conspiracy-against-immigration game without actually stating it! If you know anyone that needs help getting a marriage petition let me know, the consulate makes it difficult to know who to go to, so you don't question the "inconvenience". I really want to nail these guys like i did with my affidavit! You're right, it's a very stupid little game...Take care and best of luck!

Middle East and North AfricaEgypt military status with K3???
QUOTE (Nagishkaw @ Jul 7 2008, 06:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
When he gets his packet 3, it will say that he needs to obtain a military certificate. He will know where to go get that. Don't worry about it until Packet 3 arrives.
Your petition should only stay at NVC for about a week before it heads on over to Cairo. However, NVC can selectively and randomly pull any petition for security checks before it moves on to the Embassy. This can take a few weeks to a few months or more. NVC has no power to deny a petition.

Oups, just noticed you are a K-3. Sorry, I thought you were a k-1. It may be different for a K-3.

thanks so much for that! I think it might be the same situation with the k3 because I checked out the timeline averages and that seems to be standard, unless it goes through Administrative Processing, which is what I think you were referring to with the random security checks. that definitely gives me knowledge though, so thank you!!
