yes, we got a touch today and we only got our NOA1 on 2/5...i'm thinking it's pretty meaningless...but still exciting to see some action on our petition so early... dancin5hr.gif

United KingdomSunday Roast
what about corned beef and cabbage? or a heavier soup like cream of potato? you could add bacon bits, etc. or vegetable beef soup? chili? i have a feeling i'm going to be in the same boat as you amber...k is quite picky as well...he likes beef and lamb (which i don't care for) and fried chicken, he will eat pork tho and has told me he doesn't care for ham either. neither of us is big on fish or like seafood. and when i tried making the yorkshire puddings i failed miserably! i made them from scratch and they ended up like hockey pucks! tried a mix while he was here over xmas and i still couldn't get them right. he's not so big on pasta or veg other than carrots and potatoes...and i love to cook! i think i'm in for a challenge...good luck!

United KingdomAssembly Question
Ok for all of you who've already sent out your petition...I've been reading the guides and I'm still a little confused, so I thought I'd go straight to the success stories for my answer. How did you contain your initial petition. I'm getting stuff around to send out for the I-129F and wondered, did you use a binder or how did you keep everything all together and organized? Since they are saying the waiting time may increase, I want to be sure my package of 'stuff' is as easy as possible to view for the person handling my case. Thanks for any and all hints, tips and info! helpsmilie.gif

ok...that sounds awful to me...but then again...i know a ton of people who eat scrambled eggs with ketchup too! i guess the way i make my french toast would be really gross with ketchup but if you make it the normal way, less gross... laughing.gif no offense

I love fluffy American pancakes with nothing on them.

I like them toasted and with a little butter on them. Hubby thinks I'm weird. Oh and I love French Toast without anything on it too.

kevin doesn't usually put anything on his pancakes or french toast either...and here i am with mine slathered in butter and maple syrup... blush.gif

United KingdomAny Jan/Feb K1 filers?
february filer here! it's exciting and draining to be in the system...we were together over xmas from dec 18-jan 10...and i don't think we'll see each other again until he's here for good...we basically just use aim...we don't even get to talk to each other much...we both have isights on our macs but for some reason they don't tend to connect all the time so that is hit and miss...we used to skype but till i get home he's getting ready for bed and can't make alot of noise...we email each other daily...i send him one before bed...and he replies when he gets up and i reply to that when i get up..and i can't be without my cell, i can txt him thru aim on there...so we can basically always be in contact...it's truly hard to be apart..but next time he comes we'll never have to say goodbye again! smile.gif

we've had quite a few touches lately..i know it's too early i just wish i knew why...

United KingdomConverting the $$$$$
i never took that much when i went over but i just did my exchange at the airport thru travelex...and as long as i kept my receipt, when i came back there was no extra charge to change back....the first time i went over, i was also able to get small amounts exchanged thru AAA but i don't remember if there was any charge for that...and i don't think they'll change it back for you either....thus my still having £50 in my possession...

United KingdomNEWSFLASH FOR THE BRITS...
laughing.gif you all love your cadbury's creme eggs! i've always hated them! i do like the mini eggs...my store sells them but i'm guessing they are probably not the imported kind...altho maybe they are since kevin said he can't notice a difference....we had the cadbury christmas candy too...like red white and green m&m's...anyhow...cvs and rite aid are owned by the same company i believe, thus the reason being able to find them in both places...maybe they only import them at the holidays and do the hershey's stuff the rest of the year?

yeah, i wish we'd go to dollar coins...you can spend the gold dollar coins, but most people here for some reason still prefer the paper ones, so i don't see them going away anytime soon...have you seen the $2 paper notes? laughing.gif they are pretty rare...most people don't use them anymore unless they're in a bind...

I send them to Kevin everytime a new one comes out. I got him a folder once with a slot for each one so he can save them.

We also just started the gold dollar coins (about a year ago) with the president's faces on them. I think there are 3 or 4 so far.

United KingdomCan I have a vent....
i'm not trying to be cruel here...so don't take it wrong, but it seems sometimes you have to pay the price for where you live...it's just when you don't live in a city/suburban area the pricetag on things tends to be a bit more reasonable....people can live on lower salaries and be just as comfortable as those making larger salaries in the big cities...my ex in-laws were shocked to see the kind of house they could afford here as opposed to the affluent neighborhood they lived in close (45 min) to a major us city...as for the insurance issue...sometimes when you go to school at a college or university, you can get healthcare administered on campus, if necessary. Of course, this doesn't help the issue if you should get a major illness, but again if you can find a job at the university, especially a state-run university, the benefits are usually the best you can get, not to mention all the other things available to you i.e. rec. center, library, free internet usage, things you could cut back on from home quite possibly until you can get that cushion of comfort. my old uni even showed semi-current films at the weekends and only charged a guest $1, while i got in free with my ID. allowing you a night away from reality which it sounds like you may be able to use once in awhile! not to mention other cultural/athletic/etc. events....thankfully i already have a full-time job which provides me benefits for a nominal weekly fee and my spouse (providing he cannot obtain medical etc. benefits from his own job) can be added on for a few extra dollars....good luck, you've received a lot of 'food for thought' on this thread!
