Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Married To A German :)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I married the most tender, the most kind and the most loving man... we found each other through the internet. I am a vocalist and he's a film composer. We totally met out of the blue... He loved my voice and I loved his music... We started to collaborate and 3-4 months later decided to meet in real. We have been inseparable ever since - 3+ years later we got married.... He's just so incredible and i looooooooooove the fact that he's german. I think he is the sexiest man I have ever laid my eyes on with the MOST GORGEOUS BLUE eyes!... When I am in his arms, I feel so alive. I am in love with his whole person...

I tried to learn German, alas, I am terrible at it. He just laughs at me and say that I am sexy when I speak french. ( lol ) So I abandonned that idea for the moment... But trust me, i know the "naughty" words... wink.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMissed Interview Date at Embassy ( need help)
QUOTE (Scott & LC @ Apr 29 2009, 10:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello you have to call the US Embassy in the beneficiary's country and explain to them what happened. I'm sure they would understand, as I believe cases like that would happen quite often. I rescheduled my own interview and I had no problems with mine. It was just fairly easy smile.gif

Good luck! smile.gif

If they need proof - can you show the date stamp onto the enveloppe? Maybe that would help...

I think people shouldn't have opinions about people not wanting to have children -
It's none of their business. It's all a question of choices, which is the beauty of this country.

Can you imagine if you got him here, then after he gets his greencard, lets you down? That would have been devastating !!!
He did use you and its sad that he knew you were a student struggling to make ends meet and he took advantage of your kindness anyway.
It makes me sick thinking of that, it really sux sad.gif

But yes! There is light at the end of the tunnel! As people said, its a learning experience. Try to sharpen your "scam" alert alarms and move on.
Trust me, I was in a 6 years relationship in which the guy didnt work, gave me lies, excuses to not go find a job, and after playing warcraft for
hours, I got sick of it and kicked his a$$ out the door. Buhbye! Enough is enough!

You'll be fine huney - it will take time, but you'll be!! Smile, its a beautiful day!

Do you?

Germany is not a high fraud country and has no cultural taboos against this arrangement, except maybe mild eyebrow raising. Your fiancee could get on any plane and enter the USA under the VWP, he is not doing it to get into the USA.

At first, his family thought we were the same age. I do not look like I am in my late 30's. They even thought I was younger than him. When I mentionned my age in a conversation, they were surprised. not that the fact I was 38, but at how well "preserved" I am. his mom wanted to know my trick lol.

i think also at first, my husband was a little bothered by it. But he quickly got over that. the more and more that he got to know me and appreciate me for who I am, that went out of the window. The music we make together is timeless, so is age!

It will help to prove a bonafide marriage if you are present for her interview.

I thought that it stated in the regulations that I could not be in the country( her country) during the inteview
process, that I had to be in the US? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nothing of the kind is stated in any regulations. As a US Citizens, the US Government doesn't tell you you can't travel to another country.

I suggest that when you read the guides here or form instructions that you do so slowly and carefully and that you interpret literally. It's going to be critical to your success.

As for age difference, generally it doesn't matter. A significantly older man is a common situation in the PI but an 18 year old with a 50 year old is going to raise some serious questions anywhere. In cultures where men seldom marry older women, a significant age difference can raise serious questions when the woman is older.

I agree with this post. Well said.

If the officer really needs the passport she will tell you at the interview to bring it in oce you have got it.

I agree. We had our interview on Thuesday, and while sitting in the waiting room we heard one guy talking to the immigration officer. I guess they had the intreview sheduled but his wife was out of the country, they called the 1800...number to reshedule but the local office never got it, so they got the denial letter. They were lucky enought to get another inerview. Go no matter what! good luck.

Hi,

I still have my passport in my maiden name as well. Filled all the papers with my married name. I don't think it should be a problem for as long as you have your marriage certificate. When i went for my biometrics app. the only ID i had was my passport the paperwork was in my married name,so all i had to do just to show my marriage certificate.

Hi,
If she is a USC she can marry him even if he overstayed. It will be forgiven as long as the marriege is bona fide. The best way is to file I-130 concurrently with I-485, in that case he would be able to stay in the USA while USCIS will adjust his status.

Hi,

As i mentioned i had F-1 as well. While we got everything ready for our wedding i overstayed a little. You should't worry about that. USCIS will forgive that. If you can live with out him for 6 or more months ,than you can go back and wait in your country. You only would't be allowed to work for 2-3 months till you get your EAD. It's all up to you that you want to do now. I decided to stay with my love. kicking.gif

As much as I want to stay, the finances won't allow it. I also don't want to risk an overstay. Call me paranoid but I deal with F1 students every day at my school and way too many of them have run afoul of immigration. We've gone without seeing each other for 5-6 months at a time before, but like I said it still will be hard.

How long did your change of status take, just out of interest? Did USCIS give you any hassle for being an F1?

Hi,

We filled I-130 and AOS ,EAD in December . No problems, no RFE, biometrics done , just waiting for our interview now.
And sk28 is right if you file the AOS and get the NOA1 then your status is pending and you dont't have to maintain your F-1. The only problem is if you overstay a little ,could be AP, even if you got it it would be dangerous to travel. But if you fille your papers before your visa expires you are good. Good luck with everything!! You can't go wrong with both ways

P.S USCIS is not going to give you or me any hassle for having F-1 .

You also have the option of simply marrying and adjusting status to Legal Permanent Resident.

We did consider this, but while we are adjusting status, I would still have to maintain my legal status of an F1, and I can't afford to pay yet another semester of $4000 in school fees. If I go home, I am able to work full time and be with my family, although it won't be fun being apart for 6 months or so.

Hello everyone!

A bit of background on myself first - I'm an Australian currently living in the U.S. on an F1 visa, I have lived here for two years with my soon-to-be finance. We have been dating for 3 1/2 years. I graduate in May and then I will go back home to Australia while we do the K1 process.

My question to you all, has anyone else been in a situation like mine? Did it effect your K1 process? I know it will affect the type of evidence of having met/ongoing relationship (we have our apartment lease together, photos, plane tickets of flying together and to see each other etc). We don't really have anything like birthday cards or letters, there are some postcards I have sent him while I visited home but thats it. We also don't have things like MSN or AIM chats because neither of us have the computers we used before I moved out here. Do they check things like Facebook if we provided the link or screencaps?

Thank you for any help!

I visited my fiancee 9 times in 2008, never any questions, never any hassle. It's usually the US that questions people coming into the country with suspicion. The only limitation on entry for a US citizen is the maximum number of days per visit, which I believe is 30. We got married in 2008, which cut down my travel costs quite a bit.... :star:
