Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Dutch Police Certificate Confusion

Sorry for the late response Roos, I just saw your post.

My fiance' is Dutch and he did have his interview yesterday at the consulate in Amsterdam. He didn't get a vog and he was approved. WOO-HOO!

One thing that did change from his instructions is the stamps that you're told to bring. His letter said to bring a certain amount (I forget the exact amount, but he got exactly what the letter stated to bring) and it ended up that he needed a registered mail stamp so he had to run out after the interview and get that and bring it back to the embassy. He did say that the embassy could sell him the stamp but he left his wallet and cell phone in the car since he didn't want any trouble getting through security.  The embassy needs to change their instructions...but all's well that end's well.

We are now waiting for the visa to be issued, I was checking and noticed that they usually issue the visa within two to three days which is quite fast so I hope ours goes that fast too :)

He's going to add a review to our timeline after he gets the visa so we can say accurately how long the visa took.

Best of luck to you!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Dutch Police Certificate Confusion

I am hoping to find someone who has been through this process recently to help with the following confusion on Police Certificates for the Netherlands.

We finally got our case number from NVC for our K-1 Visa and are currently getting all the paperwork in order while we await word from the consulate in Amsterdam.

We have a bit of conflicting information in that on the Visa Journey site it says that:

Police Certificates are not (!) available to you and will be acquired by the Consulate from the Justice Department

http://www.visajourn...s&cty=Amsterdam

And on the instruction page for the Netherlands it says the following:

POLICE RECORDS: Each applicant aged 16 years of over is required to submit a certificate from the
appropriate judicial or police authorities from the country of the applicant?s nationality or current residence where
the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen, as well as from all other
countries where the applicant has resided for twelve months or more since attaining the age of sixteen. For
countries maintaining national police records, a certificate form the national l police or judicial authorities must be
submitted. For countries not maintaining national police records, a certificate must be obtained from each locality.
A police certificate must also be obtained from the police authorities of any place where the applicant has been
arrested for any reason, regardless of the length of residence. For Dutch police certificates click on: http://travel.state....5.html?cid=9694

We are confused now. Does he get his own certificate or does the consulate handle it? He has never been arrested so there would be nothing on his record. In following this link it talks about getting a certificate of good conduct but this isn't the same as the police certificate?

Any help on how you handled this would be appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproved!!! March NOA1 VSC

I wish I had filed two months later....apparently.....

Shocking to see so many apps approved when I filed in January and haven't heard one word.

My status says 2/4 was the last time my file was touched...guess mine had the bed bugs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI129f transferred June 21 2013 approval?

I got the NOA1 on January 28th 2012 (Vermont Service Center). I was transferred to TSC 6/21/13. I received a notification of RFE on 7/3/13. I received the hard-copy of the RFE on 7/9/13. I got the evidence organized and express mailed it back to TSC on 7/11/13.

I continuously wish I'd found this website when I filed the original petition. I left out the letters of intent. The RFE asked for more evidence of our meeting within the past two years as well. I am almost positive I did submit copies of our passports with the original petition but I didn't copy everything I sent so I can't be sure but I didn't include anything else but pictures of us together with a statement of how we met and an outline of our five visits with each other.

With the RFE I sent boarding passes, I didn't have any of mine but he had almost all of his, I had only a luggage tag from my last trip to him but I sent that. I sent copies of entire passports with stamps, bank statements showing atm withdrawls in each others country and ticket purchases, luggage claim tickets, ticket itineraries.  I also included skype logs where we referenced our trips before and after, whatsapp logs where we referenced our trips before and after. Twenty pictures of us from all the trips combined with handwritten notes on the back noting the date and place of the picture. Two affidavits witnessing our being together and the love they see, one from my brother and one from his father. A really long letter outlining what I was sending and noting the evidence submitted....He made three trips to me and I made two to him since March 2012. I am very confident I sent ample evidence to support each of those visits...I just wish I had found this website before I filed the petition in January because instead of an RFE I would probably have gotten an NOA2...hindsight 20/20.

I am hoping the evidence I sent gets looked at quickly and we receive the NOA2 soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2013 filers

Hi there, I am new to this site. I wish I'd found it sooner.  I am a January filer as well. I received my NOA1 on January 28, 2013. I received an email just a few minutes ago that said my case is still under initial review and was transferred to another office for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. The message said they mailed a notice of the transfer and instructed me to follow any instructions on the notice. It says I will be notified by mail when a decision is made or if the office needs something from me. Prior to this notice the last time my file was touched was February 4th!

Just this morning I contacted my senator, Mark Warner. He sent me a release to sign and instructed me to send him a letter, the signed release and a copy of my noa1. I just got back from the fed-ex drop box.

It is frustrating to see petitions filed up to two months after my own petition are getting approved while mine sits in a stagnate state at the Vermont Service Center. I can only pray that something will start moving in a positive direction soon.

I am just sick over this wait. My fiance and I haven't seen each other since March and this just keeps dragging on and on with no end in sight.

Signed,  a frustrated neptune

Unless you've lived in another country for six months or longer, I don't believe you need any police records. Like the lovely Neptune said, I didn't get a VOG and they didn't ask me for one either. The appointment letter states "police certificate(s)" IF applicable, etc. As for the stamps, the appointment letter doesn't specify that you need to get a registered mail stamp (?7.70)...but you do and they don't sell them at the consulate. My passport pictures weren't the right size, so had to have some new ones made, there is a photo booth at the consulate... Aside from my own errors in judgement (pictures) and the problem with the stamps my interview went very smoothly and my visa was issued today and I expect it to be here in a day or two.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Dutch Police Certificate Confusion

Hi Neptune! In the Netherlands, the consulate takes care of that for you. As long as you fill out the DS-230, the police records will be obtained for you. You don't need to sort them out yourself. If the foreign fiancé (unclear from your post if that's you) has lived in any other countries for more than 6 months since the age of 16, he/she will need to get police certificates from those countries. NL makes everything pretty easy for you. Have you gotten your packet 3 yet? Good luck!

Hi Sek, thanks for your reply. I'm Neptune's foreign fiancé. The confusion started when we looked at http://amsterdam.usc...iv_k1_pkt3.html.

Police clearances are required of every country where you, the fiancé(e) visa applicant have lived for one year or more, after the age of 16. To obtain these clearances you can follow the instructions in the reciprocity tables on the State Department website (www.travel.state.gov). Select the country and scroll down to 'Police Record'.

I was born and raised in the Netherlands and never lived abroad, but I obviously have lived here after the age of 16...hence my confusion. So I won't have to get a VOG? We haven't received packet 3 yet, but our case did leave the NVC, so I'm expecting something in the mail any day now.

Anyway thanks again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsRequest for Evidence received TSC - Jan filer

So unless there is someone else who hasnt spoken up you are the first/one of the first to see any action from June 21st transferrals!!

Yeah seems like it. My fiancée contacted her senator (she's a real go-getter ;) so that might've helped somewhat...or perhaps they're finally starting to process Dec/January applications.

Same here...at least now we're getting somewhere. We didn't include letters of intent in our application, so I'm under the impression that might be it. Luckily I already sent one to my fiancée... I guess we'll know next week,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresoptions for children to follow k-1 visa holder

Thanks, but let me see if I got this,

My fiancée would be approved and a visa granted on that day. So she has initiated her son's visa via this process. So now the boy has up to 6 months to enter the USA. if to go beyond this initiate a follow behind for a year, or just file for family member to arrive later. Funny I didn't see  the part about delaying the k-2 for a total of one year. I will look at the link sent perhaps others have some more info. I do understand if a 130 is filed, it could take years. the idea was to get set up and then the boy follow later, but it could be more than 6 months due to the school year.

yep one year thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresoptions for children to follow k-1 visa holder

Not trying to bounce off another thread, but the info seemed across the board. My question relates to the I129F and the k-1 k-2 visa process. As I understand it, the child of a k-1 visa holder can delay entry up to 6 months. Are there any extensions applicable after the 6 months? Does another entirely different process need to be imitated in order for the child to follow later than the initial 6 month time allotment?

Thanks
