may kasama ako pala, Im always irritated when the waiter do that, instead of us enjoying the dinner first well in my case my hubby and son doesn't care but I always don't forget our own kaugalihan

Just tell them to go away and we will call you when needed. They will be offended but oh well, they are not there for our enjoyment. They are there for their tips.

PhilippinesThings you find na kakaiba sa US of A

kakaiba, I find it disrespectful sa restaurants na kunin agad ang plate mo even before some plate aren't still finish or even di pa kayo nagbabayad which people here find it disrespectful kung di agad kinuha ng waiter ang plate empty, I always get pissed and that's one thing which annoys me

Don't worry.. You are not alone on that. Here in he states. It is not about quality, but quanity. They will give you your check even before you take the first bite of your main entree. I just tell them to go away and leave me alone or they don't get tip, but even worse I won't pay for the food for the interruptions.

It is one thing coming by to fill up the drinks. It is another thing trying to kick us out the door and expect a good tip from it.

Interesting, because she attended the seminar yesterday in Manila. She did not have the same experience you did. They were very helpful and prepared her for her interview Monday.

Nice we all share our stories to prepare other couples as they got through the process..

So, if my fiancee lived in Baclaran which is a hop, skip, and a jump to the us embassy on Roxas Blvd then she can look forward in getting her visa within two-three days.

PhilippinesYour First Movie Together?

I was just in the Philippines and I wanted to take my sweetheart to a movie... Star Wars I - Phantom Menace is released in 3D. I just about fell out of the Jeepney when she told me she had never seen Star Wars <<PERIOD!>>.

I never had to explain Star Wars backwards before (Episiode I to correlate with Episode IV) It was quite interesting when she didn't know what "The Force" is. I invite you all to try that.

What was your first Motion Picture together and what was her reaction?

I suggest you let her watch Episode 4, 5, and 6 and never let her watch the first there because they are an abomination.

If I know filipinas, she will find jar jar binks hilarious, but Americans find him annoying.

After watching Wow Wow Weeee... *shakes head*

PhilippinesYour First Movie Together?
O.M.G.!

It was actually the other way around.

I went with my fiancee to see "Treasure Island" that came out in the Philippines at the beginning of July 2011.

When I first saw that they cooked the gay guy and was eating him then crying while they were eating. I was about to die laughing out of my chair.

A lot of Filipinos walked out on that part either they found it insulting or disgusting.

Meanwhile,

She went with me to see the american movie "Paul" and she loved the movie. It was funny and interesting. Also it had no limits and she was surprised.

PhilippinesAge difference of fiance to fiancee?
I found a lot of filipinas having issues when the guy is younger than the girl in the Philippines.

You have to remember we have different culture so the Americans grow up a little different. While the filipinas are staying with parents and getting help from them, the Americans are already kicked out by 18 and doing their own thing. Going into the military... I am not saying all americans are like that... but we just grow up faster because we are pushed into society.

When I was in the Philippines. I told people I was 27 and they told me I was wayyy too young.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2011 Filers

I felt the samw way in the last few weeks it seemed to take forever to do the first step because first it took days to get all paperwork and proof needed, copied, and a few backups, pics copied etc... Then to get cash I needed took a few weeks to offset minor bills etc, then finally to postoffice and wait for the service I hired to double check (honestly not sure I needed after sites like thus and others gave me all the info I needed to do myself) and waited for noa1. Now I am here for the long wait and waiting at least with you guys.

Your not kidding with the bills you pay while you are here in the states, but then when you find out how everything costs for a K-1. Irritating....

My fiancee was doubting me about my fiancee telling me I should get a job. I get VA Disability, it is fine with me. I was trying to tell her that sometimes we need help at the beginning until we can get you the nurse certificate to work here in the states. Trying to convince her that we need help a little from others based on our circumstances is okay.

I am going through school so this month hurt. I had to put down 400 for school, then 350 for the Visa App (Crazy High!) then found out that the Medical is going to be 220 and then she has to go to a seminar which runs almost 20 dollars. Then after that you have to pay almost 900 for a one way ticket to the states. Yeah I make money but when everything hits at once... gezzz... hard to make people understand that. Especially the ones who are not paying the bills LOL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI screwed up my I-129F. Please HELP!

I'm in somewhat of a predicament...

On both the G-325a's that I submitted in my packet, I realized that the copies I sent were only halfway filled out. They were signed of course (original signatures) and they had the work history and location history but we left off our names at the top, and birthdates (basically the top 2 rows of the form).

I'm hitting my head against a wall that I did this. I'm going to contact my girlfriend in Moldova today and try to Western Union some money to her and have her fill out a new form and DHL it back to me. Should take about a week to get here, but it's probably going to cost me $200.

I only sent in my form on Monday and have yet to get my NOA1 (I'm guessing that will come on Monday/Tuesday of next week).

Anyone have any advice or experience with this? What will happen?

I am pretty sure that they are going to send it back. The whole packet. Names and Birthdays are pretty important to the United States USCIS. I have heard people get their stuff returned just for the wrong amount on the check with everything correct so I am pretty sure its a big enough deal that they will send all your paperwork back to you. I wouldn't worry about sending your girlfriend DHL since you are going to get the originals back and you can just finish filling them out.
acuratlsdMalePhilippines2012-02-02 05:30:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to prove the financial difficulties or that I have met?

okay here's the deal. You will not get the meeting requirement waived. It's is next to impossible and all the reasons you've stated simply aren't good enough. Financial doesn't work because you need to prove you're able to financially support her. To prove you've met in person you should keep your plane ticket stubs, take a photo or two together, and also photocopy the immigration stamp in the passport.

The k1 is a multi-stage process that you obviously haven't looked into. First is your petition. Then once that's approved it goes to her home country for the visa application process. There is more money at this stage, several forms, medical exams, and police checks as well as an interview to prove you're in love. For the visa portion one of the forms is the I-134 which is the Affidavit of Support. You need to prove you can support her and your household size (so your kids etc). For 2 people you need to earn at least $18,387 a year. If you don't you will need a co-sponsor who proves that they can support THEIR household size plus the immigrant.

If her K1 visa is approved (anywhere from 6-12+ months depending on several factors) she has 6 months to use her visa. Once she arrives she then has 90 days to marry you. Then you file MORE paperwork (current price $1070 called the Adjustment of Status "AOS" which gets her her greencard "GC" and takes around 3-6 months) as well as ANOTHER Affidavit of Support with the same income requirement however it's a different form and it's legally binding for several years. Again if you don't earn enough you can use a joint sponsor. She may or may not have an interview and again prove your undying love for each other.

Once she's had her GC for 2 years (minus 90 days) you file MORE paperwork called "Removal of Conditions". Current price for that is around $600 and takes around 3-6 months. It will probably go up between now and then. No income info is required for this part because the previous income info carries over from the AOS. There may or may not be ANOTHER interview here again proving your love for one another.

You will be required to add her to your bills, bank accounts and things like that to prove you are a legit couple and "co-mingling" assets for the AOS portion. It's not an easy process and if you're not in love I'm sure you'll find it rather irritating actually. Most of us have the knowledge we'll be with the person we love at the end of the long wait and that makes it more bearable.

Ouch, but Very True argument.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinal K-1 Prep
I actually put mines in a loosed binder. I used plastic sheets for everything and well organized. I never had to highlight anything. I made it very clear to what it was through cover sheets per plastic sheet i used. It went through right away with out an RFI. I did that because people kept telling me to use a lawyer and when I found out it was 1700 dollars on the lawyers part, I kindly said bye and hung up. Thought to myself, if lawyers can do it, a simple man in a simple town can do it.

I am also doing the same thing for my fiancee for when she goes for the interview. I know that they will be asking for a lot of paperwork and I am sending a 1.5 inch binder highly organized. She is from the Philippines, they don't know what organize means over there.

I showed her the big difference when we walked into the U.S. Embassy compared to the Philippine immigration. Animals over there pushing and shoving! The only thing missing from the picture was the "throwing of the feces."

Do you mean to use a highlight pen and mark important info?

I have made notes on the top or bottom of the page to describe records that are not obvious. Other records like boarding passes and itinerary's are rather self explanatory, so I did not make a note on that paperwork.

When I was in the Philippines, my fiancee and I flew from Manila to Cebu together, I have boarding passes for both of us on the same flight, so I hope that by itself makes the point. I have also included many other documents. I am now choosing which pictures to send and I will write on the back names, dates, and place. I met her family and I will include that picture as well.

I hope to send in my initial package tomorrow morning. I am thinking Fed-Ex express mail.

I sent mines through certified mail with a return receipt. Is it just me or did FedEx triple in prices?

I put it in caps because that is how I have it printed in Word. That is how my TOC is going to look in the binder.

Even when I fill out VA Forms, Government Forms, School Forms, I always use CAPS, easier to read for most people and looks a little more professional.

If I was shouting then the whole thing would have been directed at someone. Stop being so sensitive over CAPS. Sad Really!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 approved next step

About a week go our NOA2 was approved and is now on its way to the NVC I have found that the next step will be to fill out the forms that are included in the packet 3 which should include the DS 156, DS156k, and the DS230. I found a link where you can fill these forms out on line, is that the best and fastest way to fill these forms out. and if so then would i just print the forms off and my fiance would send these forms back to the embassy. There is also a barcode that is shown within the example forms (right above where it says to place a picture) that I am not able to see on the forms online will the barcode show up when I complete the forms and push continue or is this barcode not necessary.

Also at this stage I will need to provide the I 134 affidavit and it says that the I134 form should be filed by me the U.S petitioner. how would i file those papers I have copies of tax transcripts for both me and my cosponsor, would i just send a copy of those papers to my fiance who will in turn take the two I 134 forms to the interview with her or do i need to send them by mail to the embassy. And is tax transcripts enough for the I 134 affidavit or will i need more financial information and if so what.

I have read a lot of forums on here that the consulate will not accept the transcripts unless your taxes are already filed.

It is best if you have the original IRS-1040 per year copied and sent to your fiancee.

If you use a tax program like H&R Block you can print to Adobe PDF and just send the PDF file to your fiancee and she can print there. The more that she can print over there the better to save on shipping costs.

The PDF contains the original 1040 which is something you need. If you don't have the file anymore, then you will have to order copies from the IRS and 1040 forms cost around 60 I think and request 60 days to have it sent to you through mail.

Wow!!! A lot of bad info here at the begining of the thread. Anybody can be a co-sponsor and they would need to fill up the I-134 , not the other since its a K-1 visa.

She asked also if the fact that her fiance owes money. Probably not.

She asked if he needs to file his taxes for the past few years. Probably not, if he has a co-sponsor who qualifies to be a co-sponsor. BUT they might ask all these questions at the interview and its not going to look good if he didn't file his taxes the past few years. It's illegal not to file if you owe money. A lot of people dont know that. But the IRS can actually file criminal charges on you and you can do jail time for not filing your income tax if you owe money. Ask actor Wesley Snipes or Willy Nelson if you dont believe me. LOL

Yeah, at first it was a little wrong but I got it from the I-864A instructions page which this is what it claims....

Who May Be Considered a "HouseholdMember" for Purposes of This Form?
A relative who has the same principal residence as thesponsor and is related to the sponsor as a spouse, adultchild, parent, or sibling;
A relative or other person whom the sponsor has lawfullyclaimed as a dependent on the sponsor's most recent Federalincome tax return even if that person does not live at thesame residence as the sponsor;
The intending immigrant, in certain circumstances. (See"How Can the Intending Immigrant Be Considered aHousehold Member"?)

Doesn't have to be on someone else's taxes as a dependent to be considered eligible to submit a I-864A?

This might be important to read:

acuratlsdMalePhilippines2012-02-06 01:08:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support. Please, help!
For instance,
I am 28 years old and going to school. I usually do my taxes as single and then my joint sponsor (mother) will do hers as single too.

If she wanted me and I would have to allow her, that she can file me as a dependent but when I do my taxes, i have to put in my taxes that someone claimed me on their taxes and I would have to give the information whom.

The difference between the two is that my taxes will be lowered since I was filed as a dependent on someone else's taxes and the Head of Household will get more money claiming me as a dependent.

Regardless, two tax forms have to be submitted. The only time you don't have to submit one is when you are under 18 and not working, if you are 15 or more working then you can file single as well or have your parents claim you, but your parents will get more money from you.. especially if your working. Sometimes they benefits and sometimes they pay, depends on the laws.

Also, you don't have to submit a tax return if you make less than a certain amount based on federal rules.

I honestly didn't have to file taxes this year because I made less than 5800 this year, but because my VA disability is non taxable then I didn't have to file either Federal or State, but because I went to school and I wanted to apply for the American Tax Credit, then i filed for my money that i benefited from the 1098-T.

so, any other tax-independent person (I mean like his friend from another city, who has never included my fiance's name when filing taxes) couldn't be a sponsor, am I right?

That is correct... The I-864A is a Contract between Household member and sponsor.

Just read the I-864A instructions I provided in the previous link and it will help answer questions.

You rarely find a best friend living in another city to claim his best friend on his taxes living in another city.

1. Dependents are usually for people who live with you that you support partial or full financial support. (Parents usually)
2. Usually your children if 18 and below, if your still living with your parents and going to school then 24, I think.
3. That you live with someone in the house and that person supports you and they will be consider "Head of Household" on the taxes with you as the dependent.

No No, I mean they actually have to have residence with you or has claimed you on their taxes as a dependent.

1. You need to find out how many dependents the joint supporter has.

To Find out how much your joint sponsor needs to make you can look at form I-864P
http://www.uscis.gov...form/I-864p.pdf

For instance, it has to be someone that lives with the petitioner. I will use me for example:

I live with my mother so it will be My mother, Me, plus the amount of people being petitioned.

I am only having my fiancee coming so it will be 3 dependents total.

So my joint sponsor would have to make 20, 750 or more gross per year.

2. Forms to be filled out:

I-864 for sponsor and joint sponsor.

I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member

For both the Sponsor and Joint Sponsor:
1. Bank Statements for current month. Showing deposits.

You said that only the I-134 Affidavit of Support is used for K-1 which will include the Sponsor and Joint Sponsor if necessary. Even though, the I-134 is used for the first part, you still have to go by the I-834P Guidelines, but if you had a joint sponsor, would that require you to use form I-834A (Contract between Household Member) for your Joint Sponsor.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Questions (Colombia)

The Bogota consulate website says this: "Fiancée visa petitioners are encouraged to submit an I-134."

You would fill out an I-134 and one of your parents would fill out their own I-134. There is no combining of incomes for the I-134. Pick the parent with the most income. They will need to have enough to hit the 125% poverty level or higher for themselves, their spouse, any dependent children under 21, any other dependents, plus your fiancee.(http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-864p.pdf) It doesn't matter if they file jointly. The tax transcripts and W-2s, employment letter and pay stubs show their individual income.

Couldn't you use the I-864A to combine all of the incomes together to help out?

I just opened up a Blank Form DS 230. When I tried to Save As PDF, It told me that "Data Typed into this form will not be saved. Adobe Reader can only save a blank copy of this form"

So, my sugesstion is that you use Adobe Acrobat, that gives you the option of saving a fillable PDF.

So basically saying that the typical free adobe reader will not allow you to save filled forms.

I can fix your problem but this is a computer problem.

I was able to save all of my forums by using the program Adobe Acrobat. That is a fantastic program if you are doing a lot of PDF files.

Before I can help, I need to know what was the error message it gave you. The reason why it erased your data is because either you didn't save or it was a PDF file that didn't allow saves
you are only allowed to enter the data and then print it as many times as you want. I have ran into those PDFs before.
