Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Filling K1 Visa
Hi Sam-K

With the K-1 petition, you have to send it to the texas lockbox as stated above. From there, they will route it to the service center you belong to e.g. Vermont or California.

Yes, you can use whatever mail option you want. We just took the fastest and most reliable, which was also a bit more expensive of course. But I am a control freak and wanted to be able to track the petition ;)

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS embassy in stockholm
Hi, by looking at timelines, it doesnt seem as if Stockholm has slowed down since Norway and Denmark moved their immigrant visa handling to the embassy. I mean, it's not like we are that many Danish and Norwegians going through the process ;) On most timelines, it looks as if you will have an interview date approx. 2-2,5 months after your NOA2 (if you make sure to have the paperwork ready to send back with packet 3). We just got our NOA2, and are waiting for the petition to get to Stockholm so Ill know soon how fast it goes.

Sorry we are doing a K1 visa, so I am not sure about how it is for you guys. But I am pretty convinced that it will not slow down you guys that they have changed the procedure. At least it hasn't for K1 visas!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFiance Moved.
Same happened to me (beneficiary). We called the USCIS back in August and was told that only when the petitioner changes address, they have to be notified. All you need to do is that once your case gets to the NVC, make sure to call them and get the case number. Once you have the case number, write the embassy in the beneficiary's country and inform about the address change. Remember to inform them about your case number. I did it a few weeks ago and I did recieve packet 3 on the right address :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny July filers who haven't approve yet? ( NOA2)
If you look at Igor's list there are many July filers waiting for approval. There are still some June filers! Hang in there.. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAt what point is it safe if any to set wedding date??
Well.. altough I agree with most others, we actually planned our wedding even before applying for the Visa. Our wedding date is june 9,2012 and we booked the venue, photographer, catering etc back in July last year (because I was in the States all summer). I will admit I have been a bit worried, however, I believe everything will work out in time! I didnt tell the guests to book flights and hotels yet though ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny August filers?
Aaron suggested to sign 3 different ones and send me; 1 "blank", 1 with his signature and 1 with "fiance". lol! I mean, since it states "nature of relationship" the answer must be "fiance". However, I agree with you guys that ot makes no sense!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny August filers?
I was thinking the same thing about the extra blank on the form. I am still debating on whether Aaron has to sign it there or leave it blank? What have other petitioners done? Dont want a blank space to delay our case lol!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSA at Christmas time

Hi all,
My fiancee and I are already in the K-1 process (80 days today) and waiting for the NOA2. (hoping it will come any day :))
I was thinking to go to the USA over Christmas and New Year to see my fiancee again for like 2 - 3 weeks!
I was in the states this year in May (2 weeks) and September (almost 4 weeks), and I know it is always up to the PoE Officer if you will get in or not.
Both of the times I had to go to 2. inspection, but it was always fine and they were really nice :)

So, all I would like to know is, what you all think about this?
Is it too soon to go to the states again? Could I have more trouble?

I appreciate all your answers :)
Thanks a lot!

Wow.. our cases are so similar ;) I am from Denmark and also waiting for my NOA2 (got NOA1 on august 18). I went back to visit my fiance 2 weeks in jan, 2 weeks in april, 2 months july/august. I never had any problems at all, but at that time we were not applying for the visa.
I was supposed to go back for christmas but now my fiance is coming here instead. However, the Danish embassy informed me that there should be no problem in entering, as long as you have proof that you will be returning to your own country (return ticket, proof of work or school, only stay for a short time etc.)

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfastest USCIS
You do not decide where your case goes. You have to send it to Texas as stated above, and they will send on your petition from there. You cannot request a specific service center. It does seem as if CSC is the fastest one though..-however, you will quickly learn that in "this business" there are no guarantees, sadly!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAm i still able to enter the US while I29F is pending?

Title basically, I29F has been pending for about a month, want to go over for a 2 week break, but unsure if this is allowed.

Replies greatly appreciated, intend on booking today providing i can.

Yes, there should be no problem in you going to the states, as long as you have sufficient proof that the intent is not to "cheat" the K1 process. A return ticket should be enough. Also, long stays are probably not the best idea since you do not want to give the immigration officer any reason to suspect that you are planning a wedding etc. Additionally, you can bring any document that confirms that you are to return to your own country shortly e.g. documentation of work, school etc.
Be honest when asked at the port of entry. Tell them that you are going through the K1 process and that you are only there to visit for a few weeks.
(I had all this confirmed by the embassy in Copenhagen when I planned on going to the states for Christmas, however, due to exams, my fiance is going to visit me in Denmark instead)

Best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHoneymoon Travel

I am considering taking a cruise for our honeymoon. I have had people tell me both sides that we can, and can not travel outside the US once married. I know that we can apply for travel parole but who knows how long that process takes. I have also had a few people tell me she is free to leave/return to the US with me (such as honeymoon) as long as we have not changed her AOS until after out honeymoon. Can anyone shed some light on this?

We actually looked into this because we wanted to go on a cruise as well. But No, as far as we have been informed, she cannot leave the country while the case is pending. An AP will take some months. We gonna go to Hawaii instead. That way we will not risk anything!
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeneficiary's change of address

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeneficiary's change of address
Hi VJs
I just have a simple question.
2 weeks after we sent our petition in August, I (beneficiary) moved and changed my address. I thought we would have to report that to the USCIS, however, my fiance called them, and was informed that only if the petitioner changes his or her address, a form needs to be sent to them. I still live in the same country as my previous address stated (Denmark). In Denmark, once we inform the postoffice of an address change, they usually just transfer any mail recieved to your previous address to your new one, so I don't know whether it's necessary to take any action?
Anyone of you with any similar experience?
Thanks,
Christine

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview for my Fiance Tomorrow in Sweden!! Any tips or things we should know?
Take a look under the Portals here. There is a Sweden site and people have evaluated their experiences at the embassy :) Looks like you guys will be fine!
I am glad to see that the process from getting NOA2 til the interview went fast! I am Danish, and as of october 2011, we have to use the swedish embassy for K-1 instead of copenhagen. I was worried that it would delay our case, but it looks like they are working pretty fast :)
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalled the USCIS Hotline: What do they say about waiting?
Ive waited 3 months too. We have never called. The more people call, the less time they will have to process cases..
(that's how I see it!)
Once the 5th month passes, you can call, but anything before that, is a waste of your..-and our time :(

I know the wait is long.. trust me, not a day goes by without me feeling completely helpless and tired of the process, however, we are all in the same boat!
Good luck everybody!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFront & BACK??? copy of birth certificate??
Just got our NOA2 and did not copy the back of the birth certificate.. I guess I got my answer :)
aaron-christineFemaleDenmark2012-01-13 23:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFront & BACK??? copy of birth certificate??
PS. how will they know whether I copied the back? I mean, the back of the birth certificate paper that I included is blank as well! maybe I copied the blank back side on the back of the copy of the birthcertificate. I really do not see this being an issue, but if any body had problems with this before, please share!
aaron-christineFemaleDenmark2012-01-13 12:05:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFront & BACK??? copy of birth certificate??
We didnt send the back either, because the seal was at the front. And in regards to reading the instructions, please do not make judgemental comments about others in this forum. The thing is, as an internatonal traveller, I realize that countries, states and birth certificates are different. Therefore, we felt confident that since there was nothing at the back, this did not apply to us. In some countries they differ between short and long versions, too.
We also included a copy of his passport and a copy of his social security card. Now, I do not know whether we will recieve an RFE for this, however, I completely understand why people, including myself, haven't included this. I mean, it doesn't state "for people with only one page, please copy the blank back side, too". Nothing else to do than just wait and see.. and pray! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresi-134 form...is this right?
Where did you print it out from? I printed mine out from the USCIS webpage under forms and there are no 'X' in any of the boxes. Maybe you should try again. As much as I do love VJ, I do not download forms from here. I dont trust that they are updated and reat in accordance with the USCIS forms. Hope this will be your week! Much love

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI129f sent on 1st of september any chance ill be in the usa in the next 2 months?
I know everybody always say not to make plans, and I cant give you any guarantees either, but Aaron and I planned our wedding even before applying for the K1. We booked everything when I was there last summer and sent in the petition after. We are getting maaried on June 9th. We agreed that if we didnt get the NOA2 before the end of february, we would postphone the wedding, but we got it friday :) I guess it also depends on the speed of the embassy that your case goes to. I know Stockholm, where ours is going, is pretty fast so I still believe it's possible. I honestly dont think you will be in the US within the next 2 months, however, a wedding in June could still be realistic!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156 NOT Working? Is it just me???
I used the form on the government page today. I had no problems filling it out. Try again :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp with forms156, 157, ...
Stating "no" if you did it is fraud. I do not think anyone at this page should encourage that! With that said, be prepared that your fiance might be asked about the forms and the content so she needs to be able to understand, explain etc everything on them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow/When to Change Address of Beneficiary?
Hi,
I (beneficiary) was in the same situation. THe NVC told us not to do anything before the case had been approved at CSC and been sent to the NVC. As soon as I had my NVC case number I wrote an email to the embassy informing them of my number and the address change. Everything worked out smoothly. They sent the package to my new address :)
aaron-christineFemaleDenmark2012-03-06 00:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanging Beneficiary Address after i-129 Sent?? Possible or Not??
Hi, The same thing happened to us. I (beneficiary) changed my address 2 weeks after we sent in our petition. We called the USCIS and was informed that it makes no difference while the case is processed. However, once we recieve our NVC case number, we have to contact our consulate/embassy and let them know (using the case number) that I have changed my address to make sure that they send our packages to the right address.
In short, while waiting for NOA2, you do not need to do anything.
-Christine

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTwo weeks since interview, still waiting..
I know how paranoid this process makes you, but you are lucky enough to be going through one of the fastest embasies out there. I don't think you need to worry at all. It's not like they have been sitting there waiting for your file to come in ;) They have many visas etc to deal with. I think you did the right thing by emailing them and all you can do now is just to wait. If they recieved it by now, you will have your visa within a week or so. They process it very fast in Stockholm! (it might be on it's way right now!). They would definately have let you know if something was wrong or missing - they do that pretty fast, too! Good Luck!
