K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of third party?
Hi guys,

Hubby found out we needed an affidavit from a third party stating our marriage is real and whatnot. Do we need to get this too? I mean won't pictures, and plane tickets and wedding receipts and whatnot do? Lol. Sorry to sound like a schmuck. I'm still reeling from the fact I have to send over to him another piece of paper again. Ayayay. I did read that it's one of the examples stated at the CR1/IR1 Guide. So it might not be the be all or end all of things.

Please help me out here. Thanks a whole lot.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWomen, does your spouse help you with finances for the visa process or are you doing it alone?
lMy USC hubby paid for his trips here, hotel fees, wedding, honeymoon, etc. I paid for whatever little things that really didn't amount to much, i.e fare, snacks, getting the BC and CENOMAR and all that. He's back home now getting ready to do the paperwork for us, which he says he'll be paying for. He also sends me money to help out with whatever needs to be done in terms of paperwork and expenses at my end, and yes even urges me to watch movies so I don't get bored. My hubby is wonderful, but I try not to make him spend for every little thing.

Maybe you just don't feel like he understands the money situation from your point of view. Maybe he doesn't have much, but him having better understanding and sympathy would go a long way to smooth any ruffled feathers. Try telling him how things stand with you financially..

US Citizenship General DiscussionDocuments for Application

I would wait till you get the tax returns in the mail because its listed specifically on the document list that they want it.
You shouldn't need the utility's to be sent with it, bring those later at the interview.
USCIS has a great document check list you should check out. http://www.uscis.gov...attachments.pdf
You also don't have passport photos listed and you will need those.

Thanks for the advice. I do have the passport photos and they just didn't get added to the list. :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionDocuments for Application
Hi VJ members,

I have just become eligible to apply for US Citizenship and I am trying to gather documentation to submit for my application. What would you guys suggest to submit? I know there was a list on a sticky regarding the process but just wanted to know what everybody submitted. Also on the tax returns, has anyone submitted non-certified tax returns and were approved? I have all of the paperwork already except for the tax returns. Just wanted to also know if I need to wait to get IRS certified tax transcripts for the past three years or just submit what I have now.

My list so far are:

Bank statements
Hubby's divorce decree
Son's birth certificate
My birth certificate
Hubby's birth certificate
Our marriage certificate
Front & back of old permanent resident card
Front & back of new permanent resident card (after removal of conditions)
Utility bills

To all the people who respond, thank you for the assistance!

US Citizenship General DiscussionSuspentig Citizenship fraud

Making child support payments is a question on the N-400, known of some that had to provide proof with receipts.

You were given the opportunity to answer this question truthfully and honestly, but for whatever your reasons, you elected not to do so. So why are you making an issue out of it now? This is showing lack of integrity on your part.

just would like to know who the statement is being addressed to, the member or the member's daughter's father? looks like it's the daughter's father that was negligent with the child support payments and based on member's post, probably got citizenship with a lie.

Thanks a whole lot, Dave!

Go here to find out about Portland Field Office

Naturalization Information:
The Portland Field Office conducts Judicial Ceremonies once per month and also offers same-day administrative naturalization ceremonies for those candidates who have met all requirements at the morning naturalization interview. The
Portland Field Office also hosts a number of special ceremonies every year.

You can go here to see if there is a closer ASC closer to where you live for the bio appointment.

Good luck,

It is NOT true. Everyone must go for an interview for citizenship.

Was kinda hoping that wouldn't be the case. Oh well. Where can I find out whether or not Portland can do interviews and oath ceremony together in one appointment?

US Citizenship General DiscussionBiometric Appointment Coming Up
Hi,

I just filed for the N400 and have already received an appointment letter from USCIS. It is only however for the biometrics and nothing else. We have to make a 3 hour drive though to Portland OR just to do this. I am wondering why I am doing this again when they received my fingerprints etc when I removed the conditional status of my residency.

Also I am leery of receiving another letter stating a different date for an interview cause that would mean another drive out to Portland. I read on the USCIS page that not everyone is asked to do an interview. Is that true? I am applying citizenship due to marriage and submitted all the correct paperwork. No arrests, no traffic violations or issues that would compromise my application. Just wanted to know if there is a way to make the least amount of trip.

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out! Posted Image

US Citizenship General DiscussionWhat is a typical / normal naturalization interview like?

My main interview consisted of only 6 questions. Prior to that, I was asked to read a line. And to also write an answer to a question.  Waiting for the interview itself was longer than the actual interview. Then I was told to come back for the oath taking ceremony in the afternoon.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFile Jointly?
When referring to the the I-751 form I keep reading things about filing jointly. Example from the VJ step-by-step guide "If you are filing jointly, the I-751 form must be filed within the 90 days..." I'm confused to what this means. I'm married to a man who was born in the USA so do I file jointly or are they talking about couples that immigrated together?

PhilippinesCFO Seminar Now or Later?
QUOTE (tedjen @ Sep 17 2008, 03:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You can do it earlier since there's no expiration of the CFO's certificate but you can't get the sticker yet, you will go back when you already have the visa...

When I changed my passport to my married name, I attended the CFO seminar though we still on the process of gathering our docs and etc for the petition...

ah so it's acceptable to go there and just get the certificate? i was kinda worried about the whole registration process that came afterward. where did you do your CFO seminar? do i need to be scheduled for an appointment for the seminar or can i just go there directly?

thanks!

PhilippinesCFO Seminar Now or Later?
Hi guys.

I have a dilemma, which I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out with since you've been there and done it. luv.gif

I would like to have my passport renewed. My old one has my maiden name on it and hubby made mention of having it renewed with my married name on my passport. Well I found out I have to take the CFO seminar (which I'll probably be taking in Cebu) if I want it renewed. Or if I don't want to go through all the hoopla now, I could just use my old one , have it stamped as married, and then just use that.

Will it be better to go through with all this now or to just have it all done later? My hubby and I are still in the works of filing his petition for me. And we're confused as to how to proceed.

Many thanks to the people who will reply. good.gif

PhilippinesInterview Jitters
Hi Peeps.

Just wanted to know if anyone can provide a complete list or an account of what happens during the interview. I am very excited but I sometimes feel like hurling whenever I think about just how important it is that I pass. It's been a year since I last saw hubby and 4 years since we met online. We really don't wanna mess anything up.

So any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I've been searching on this forum but I can't seem to find any reference to whether or not there are any additional fees during the interview itself. I know how much the medical exam is supposed to cost but nothing on the interview?

A big thank you to everyone who answer.

hello again, i will have my interview next month, i'll have my med exam one week before the interview so there is still ample time for rest and last minute preparation for the big day.. and also we're not sure if the med exam will just take two days, there are cases that they will need for additional tests before you can proceed for the interview..

Hi Ginalisa.

When is your interview? I'm still debating when to have my medical exam. Hubby urging to do it all in one week, but I don't want a tight schedule. I'm debating whether to do it all in one go or do it separately.

Hi Ree, my name is Kaye. smile.gif

We just got our NVC Case number and were informed that our file has already been forwarded to the US Embassy Manila last September 4th.

Which visa are you applying for? We are applying for K3 and K4, waiting for instructions on what to do next after we become documentarily qualified (meaning our file as been received and entered into their system).

We're hoping for an early interview...wanna be out of here before Halloween! lol

Hi Kaye. We did the CR1. We're good to go except for the medical exam and of course the dreaded interview. Lol. Been having mixed thoughts on the whole thing though. Have the two done in one shot (one trip) or tackle each separately? What do you two plan on doing?

Wow Well I hope you guys get it done before Halloween then. You lucky girl you. Even with a pinkslip after October, I'm still spending Christmas here (home turf I mean). Waiting on an aunt and uncle to come down from Sweden for the holidays. So definitely next year.

I hear ya Bob and sorry your stuck worrying too sad.gif My wife's in Tacloban and the map this morning looks like it's raining and blowing pretty hard there this evening. I'm thankful that she's where she is instead of facing the ocean there. Samar and the harbor give some protection from the brunt of storms but the rain is the biggest worry I think. I'm sure most of the power is out by now but hopefully she got a full charge on the cell phone before it went. I'll say a little prayer for yours along with mine smile.gif

Well no need to worry anymore. It did rain here in Tacloban and there were several gusts of wind here, but that was about it. No news of us being in signal no.1 either. So I think your wifey and her family is pretty much safe and sound.

PhilippinesSt Luke's Status (Round 2 Pepeng)
Hi Guys,

I'm slated to go to Manila on Sunday so I can do my medical exam at St Luke's this week. I'm planning to go there on Monday for the exam. I am just wondering if this would be prudent in light of Pepeng just around the corner. I am not that good with geography. I honestly would'nt be able to find my way out of a giant plastic bag. So I am at a loss if it has been affected by Ondoy. Or in imminent danger from Pepeng. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I had planned to stay there for 5 days. So I was thinking if not Monday, then maybe the day after or the next. Do you guys think though I should just move it to the week after? So far there have been flights from Tacloban to Manila and to Cebu.

Thanks in advance people.

Someone posted they will take away her passport at the medical examination appointment? Doesn't she need that for the interview?

Thanks in advance.

Mine got taken away too. I now only have the medica; exam receipt, a cd labeled chest radiograph results, and the immunization sheet. The guy at the releasing counter said they would be forwarding it to the US Embassy. He told me to just head on out for my appointment and to just bring along the stuff he gave me. I am still unsure whether or not I passed the medical exam. I only did the blood and urine tests, the chest xray, and the full disrobing part.

PhilippinesMy bittersweet experience @ SLMEC
I just got back from taking the medical exam too. Mine was on Oct 5-6. I only did the blood and urine and chest xray, and the full disrobing. Then I had 4 shots done, two on the left and two on the right. Then they gave me an immunization sheet, a cd labeled chest radiograph results, and the receipt for the medical exam fee. I didn't do any sputum test or skin test or anything else. Does that mean I passed?

Oh I had to wait a long time in between doing one process to the other. But the actual thing itself took only a few minutes. On the first day, I spent only the whole morning there but was out by lunchtime. Then the next day, I was there at 9:30, and got out by 1pm. Pretty much uneventful.

Next week, interview time!!!

PhilippinesBound for Oregon

tbat was my POE last year but we're here na sa NC. Oregon is such a beautiful place. The trees specifically...ahhh parang God-made landscape along the road. The place is really nice with few Pinays there, I met one in Medford who owns a home based Pinoy store kaya lang sobrang lang it was a long drive...roadside pa lang fantastic na...
All I can say is good times in Oregon, the best State na napuntahan ko so far (aside from Las Vegas he he) pero it's nice there talaga, tahimik hindi masyadong crowded. Puro mga White America kalimitan...
Try to go to theatre plays, yun ang interest ng mga tao dun (at least upon my observation). I attended several plays. I also went to some theatre to watch films...

Thanks for the great raves about the place. Makes it all the more exciting to be heading there, even though it will be the dead of winter when I arrive. Hehehe.

Hi Ria,

welcome to the US!

I'm in Oregon, in the Lake Oswego Area :) sorry though but I can't tell how far it is from Bend (have to ask hubby later). Anyway, been here for more than a year now, and I can relate to you wanting to have Pinay friends over here. I've seen a lot of snow during my first year, and some snow this year, hehe . . . I have some Pinay friends who are new to Oregon too, most of them from the Portland area, and we meet every once in a while to go malling, shopping or to just hang out. If you want to keep in touch, just pm me when you get here.

Enjoy the new chapter of your life with your hubby.

Hi there! Oh yeah, it would be nice to meet up with a few Pinays every once in awhile. I won't know anyone from where I'm heading in a few days. According to hubby, when we get back, it'll be really cold since January and February are about the coldest months of winter in Central Oregon. Just my luck. Lol.

But I sure would love to meet up with you and your friends. We're leaving for Oregon already next week. :crying:  Yup mixed emoticons for mixed feelings.

Philippinesdental work

True to some extent. I see plenty of bad teeth every day. Mostly it depends on how well that person takes care of them. In many third world countries there is less emphasis on prevention.

If you don't brush and floss properly, if you don't use a good fluoride containing toothpaste, if you smoke, if you don't get them checked regularly you WILL have problems.

Then there's also if you do drugs. I hear the damage is a doozy and requires thousands of dollars.Posted Image
