Good evening Everyone,

I am in need of assistance from my fellow female VJ'ers from Brazil.

Not to be graphic in by any means, but I am needing help in understanding the specific exams which you were required to undertake for your medical. I found out today from my fiance that she will need to endure a number of exams with a physican which she does not know and feels completely uncomfortable about. Further, she advised me that there will be a test about the condition of her back that could possibly disqualify her...which I certainly do not understand (she has a lower back problem).

Any input or feedback you could provide I would appreciate very much.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

She don´t have to worry about the medical exam.
They will request a sifilis and HIV test and a X-ray of the lung.
The doctor will also ask her a few questions about her health (nothing to worry about).
Is very quick...and when she received the envelope with the results, pls don´t open the sealed one. That one she needs to bring sealed to the interview, also inside the medical exam packet, there´s hers results, so she can see if there´s something wrong or not.
Normally when there´s something wrong, the doctor will talk to the person before deliver the tests.

Good luck!

What about gynological exam items (specific female "tests")? Did you have to endure these? Were you able to use your own female doctor to confirm these tests for the consulate physican?

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaBrazil Secretaria da Seguranca Publica Police Certificate
Hello all,

I am in need of some rather quick assistance.

Fiance has interview one week from today. We have all documents together except for one remaining police certificate. This was requested as per the consulate instructions two weeks ago. My fiance picked up the document this morning, however she is very concerned it is not the correct certificate.

I was wondering if anyone might have an example they could supply or share (obviously with their personal information blacked out) to compare against what she received today.

If there is somewhere on VJ where this example also exists, I would be happy to check that directly. Have been unable however to locate one. I can send you my personal email address through private message if needed...just shoot me a VJ message.

ANY assistance someone could provide would be a HUGE help. We have been enduring this lllooonnnnggg process for so long with one week to go until the interview and a possbililty this one last document is not correct....that would be a huge blow.

MANY MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!!

If you live anywhere near the US East coast, fly over on a Thursday evening, call in sick, hold a civil ceremony on Friday, get the certified certificate, back on Monday morning for work.

Is that a possibility with your current financial situation?

Just a thought.

Hello,

I am still waiting for my NOA2 and we are hoping for aproval in September. We will be 140+ days then. I am going to see my fiancee next week and I want to bring her as much of the paperwork she will need for the interview as possible. I got the tax returns, W2's, 1099's, etc. I don't have any problem with the income requirements but I guess all this supporting info is going to be helpful.

I was thinking of getting the letter from my employer, but I was wondering if it would be better to wait and send it to her via FEDEX after NOA2. How long would a letter be valid for the interview? Would it still be good for 3 months from now?

Also, my empoyer cannot specify the annual income because it is not fixed, it totally depends on how much I work. I will have supporting evidence showing my base salary with the hourly pay but each month's paycheck is different. Would it be a problem if there is no mention of my salary on that letter?

Can I fill in the Affidavit of Support and give it to her now, or is it too early?

Would they accept faxed (or scanned and e-mailed) bank account info?

I know there are a lot of questions. I thank you for your help!

Was never able to find anything specific to the employment letter validity time period. I had my employer issue their standard letter about 4 weeks before the interview date, indicating when I was hired and what my current position is with no indication of salary. That is where your 2008 tax return and supporting documents, i.e. W2, etc come in.

I scanned the original and emailed to my fiance. She breezed through the interview on June 30th.

I originally thought I would just hide this news in a few posts (as I get a bit shy), but I'm posting it because reading other CSC Jan/Feb. '09 approvals helped me track how fast the CSC was going through newly filed petitions (in the meantime trying not to get my hopes up, LOL - John and I thought it could just be pure luck), and I'm thinking others might be doing the same.

So add another NOA-2 to the list for CSC! We got our NOA-2 one month to the day we got the NOA-1, and received the hard copy in the mail tonight - and btw, no email notification or change in status online.

Just as you noted, the VSC seems to have slowed down a bit over the past couple of weeks. However, it looks to have high and low patterns...maybe they focus on K-1's for a few weeks, then over to K-3's; who knows.

Ive come to the point of not focusing on all this data and updates every single day; is driving me bonkers. wacko.gif LOL.

We are at 4 1/2 months waiting while others are clearing in much less time at VSC, let along CSC. Just gotta wait it out and hope the approval comes through before the six month posted processing time which is when you can start calling VSC to get a status. whistling.gif

Hello fellow VJers!

I am outraged at the fact that VSC is operating at such a slow pace. In the last few months they have slowed in aproving petitions drasticaly. Our lives are tied in this, our finances, our jobs, future, even our health. I myself I am putting off buying a home and loosing a lot of money in finance charges and the $8000 goverment stimulus because they are moving so slow. CSC is working on petitions from May while VSC is still November and December. This is not acceptable and unless we bring this to their attention nothing will happen.

I know that we are at their mercy but we can stir the waters and write some letters to USCIS ombudsman, to senators, congressmen, even to the white house. I believe that if they get enough letters maybe someone might take a look at this problem and try to do something about it. One: it is our right as US citizens to pursue hapiness and two: it is a service we paid for. If we do nothing about it nothing will happen but if we draw some attention to this problem, maybe something might happen and have them hire more, train more, or at least try to do something to rectify the situation. If we don't write, call, complain they will not act on anything.

Mr. President spoke about "change" lets ask for change in this department!

I'm confused, why is your petition approval delaying and/or impeding your home purchase???

Im wondering the same thing.

First, I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on this topic, my fellow November filers for your progress in the various stages we are all in.

Ellie, wonderful news. Doesnt the NVC AP seem like so long ago now? Grin.

Kevin, I have been following your progress as you and Leilei were the first to start this specific topic. Im very happy to see you are just about there.

And to everyone else either subscribed to November 2008 VSC filers, keep the faith and move forward.

As for myself and Michelle, we are less than two weeks from her arrival to Houston after all this time. I have spent countless, countless hours thinking about this time, the day she arrives. When you are going through the AP, the NOA waiting, it almost seems surreal. But now, here we are....it is REALLY happening. You wanted it, you got it. GRIN. And it is ALLLL good.

But something for us USC's that I believe we always must keep in mind. Our respective fiances are uprooting themselves from their homes, the life which they have grown up in, to be with us. I hear in Michelle's voice her growing nervousness, some agitation, short level of patience as she works so hard to unravel her life in Brazil to fulfill our dream together. We must realize it isnt easy for them. But this is where our dedication to the love we have all committed to for our future spouses...our best friends, the soulmate we believe in with every ounce of our hearts, MUST be apparent more now then ever. This is REAL life.

Just needed to say those things to ensure we all remember why we are even here on VJ, the extraordinary circumstances we are each dealing with, and most importantly....our love and dedication to each other must always, always be at the top of the list. Without that, nothing else really matters. We are the exception in finding someone outside of our various home countries.

Stay true to your heart, for one another.

My two cents on the proverbial soap box.

Thanks everyone for reading, for your continued support in this forum.

Hi Everyone...!!

Had my interview today and everything was done and completed in less than an hour from going through all security checks, finger prints, waits, and interview! Oh, except one "minor" hiccup - my birth certificate has my mother's maiden name as my middle name. However, my passport and all other legal documents doesnt include this name (I was born overseas). So, prior to issuing the visa I need to either amend the passport to read as my birth certificate or obtain a name change certificate and send it back so they can issue the visa. Either way, there is a waiting period from 2 weeks to 4 weeks and my k1 approval expires in 2 weeks. I have emailed the US consulate explaining the waiting period so hopefully, they can extend this 4 month period for at least another month!

But other then that - they said all was in order and gave me a pre-departure information sheet to read over.

Congratulations! Sorry about the hiccup but providing an extension should definitely not be a problem as these kinds of situations occur all the time. Let us know what they say!

Also did I mention......CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! kicking.gif

I'm so nervous about my interview on friday....EEEEEEEEk!!!!

Ellie, all the best with your interview in TWO days....you must be so excited.

Miche and I have made progress on our side. While I was in Brazil last week, we received confirmation of her interview date for June 30. We also found out that there is no Packet 3 sent for K-1's from the Rio consulate which was a relief since we hadnt received anything. We have been waiting for Packet 4 since May 28 (when they said it was mailed), but nothing yet. However, we have email confirms from the consulate she is all set for June 30.

So, at this point, all the required forms have been completed, all photos, plane ticket receipts, ticket stubs, copies of passport stamps and visa, Affidavit of Support and supporting documents completed, all other certified copies of other legal docs received (i.e. divorce), medical exams and shots completed (all clear...woo hoo). So, now it is a waiting game again until June 30. Unfortunately, I cannot be with her during the interview because of travel I have to make to Europe for two weeks (Scotland, Norway and Netherlands). So, she will also have a letter with her that I wrote to the Consulate, along with my confirmed travel itinerary explaining my absence.

As noted in our signature timeline, we are anticipating her arrival to the US on August 9 (one day after I return from two weeks in Singapore....lol), I / we will close on our new home on August 10 (which happens to be my B-Day), then off to Vegas on Aug 14 to get the legal marriage completed (we will have a religous ceremony and party in Brazil next Spring). The next eight weeks are going to be a whirlwind !!!!

So, its all coming together. I am glad to see my fellow November filers are moving along well. Keep us posted on your continued progress !!!!

Update on our process.

May 18 our file was released by NVC after 31 days in AP and "sent" to the Rio consulate. As of May 22, not received. Called back May 26 to be told by the US State Department our file was received May 21, Packet 3 was sent on May 21, and Packet 3 was returned completed May 21....but we never actually received Packet 3 !!! The SD said to contact the Consulate directly. So, we contacted the Consulate to be told they havent received the file yet. OMG, here we go again. wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

I called the SD today to be told that Packet 3 was received completed, Packet 4 was mailed May 28, and an interview date was set for June 30.

With all that said....we never received Packet 3, Packet 4 not received as of today, and we have an interview date. LOL.

She is going for her medical exams on June 3 even without the packet 3 documents.

I am in Rio until tomorrow night and have sworn we will get this mess straightened out before Im on that plane back to Houston.

Gotta love our government intelligence.

We didnt use bank statements either. As long as you or your co-sponsor meets the income requirements then an employment letter and a few paystubs should suffice.

As for Australia, after receiving the NOA2 packet 3 is sent detailing the list of items that you need to send off to the embassy. If all information/documents required are in order, then they send a packet IV which includes an interview date, procedures on paying for the visa, bring passport, passport pics and a prepaid express post packet which they use to send back your passport including visa as well as the paperwork you need to bring and hand over at the POE.

@ mike & Miche - sorry to hear you're still in AP. Ellie was stuck there for a while as well but eventually got out and now has an interview date set. Hang in there and in the meantime, prepare for packet 3 so as soon as you get out of there you can submit packet 3 (like what Ellie has done laughing.gif ).

Thanks for the morale booster. We pretty much have all of the Packet 3 done already. Will probably need to update some of the I-130 financials, but that isnt a big deal. Police certs are the only item from her side, but again, those are fairly easy to obtain since she knows exactly what to get and where.

As someone in here said, this can be a maddening progress. wacko.gif So for now, we try to remain busy...I am currently having a new home built for us which should be completed by the time she arrives (we are anticipating 1st week of August; model home pic which we are having built attached). Lots of business travel coming up (Panama, Singapore, Scotland, etc), golf.

Most importantly, we remind ourselves why we are going through this process to begin with...that you truly love each other with such intensity, dedication, commitment to one another. Focus on the good things, and the more difficult stuff, such as the visa process, are only temporary and will be over soon.

I love this site and those who participate. Thanks to everyone for their input and good wishes. I only hope the same for those still tolerating the pre-interview activities.

Remaining villigant and patient....

Hello Mike & Miche. Thank you for the good words. Our attorney contacted me and said that he fixed the problem back in December. Apparently my name was wrong on NOA1 too (i didn't know that). I guess that's why we had touch in December. Anyway he said he will send me the document showing them acknowledging the correct spelling. I have no idea why they misspelled it wrong again on NOA2. I hope this won't cause any problems with the interview. Wish me luck

In order to find out the dates NVC received and sent your file to the consulate you have to call them at this number 603 334-0700. We waited a week after the e-mail from CRIS before we called. Actually I called them trough my computer (voip). It took like 5 minutes. You need your case number, and the birthdates of you and your fiance(e). They told me when it was sent and I asked them when it was recieved by them. I was so happy they've sent it so fast that I forgot to ask about our new case number and tracking number for DHL. I was able to find an old thread here in VJ that explain how to track the package from NVC to the consulate. (the trick with EXP MM/DD/YYYYA ). That was all. 2 days later I received packet 3.
Good luck to all of you smile.gif

Hello to all my fellow November filers. Well, I contacted the NVC shortly ago to get a status on the approved petition for processing to the local consulate....the words "Additional Processing" were mentioned. ACK.

From everything I have read here on VJ, this can cause a substantial delay. But, I dont want to get her and I in a bad state of mind, so was wondering if any of you might have input on whether my understanding of the Additional Processing status is something to not be too concerned about. The NVC notification hard copy was dated April 20th (one week ago), so it hasnt been too long since they received from the VSC. But again, considering many of the other VJ'ers timelines of quick turnarounds from the NVC, I am a bit concerned.

Thoughts / comments would be greatly appreciated. We are in this for the long haul, but the VSC wait of 4 months & 3 weeks was brutal, and I am hoping we dont have to deal with that type of wait again.

Probably being a bit over-sensitive at this point, so apologies if my inquiry is sounding a bit impatient.

Hello everyone. It has been quiet here. I just wanted to share a bit of bad news with you. Today we found out that my name was misspelled on the NOA2. its a little error (just added extra O to my last name) but I know how bad it is to have a wrong name on the approval. We are really upset right now and don't really know what to do. My fiancee didn't noticed it, neither our attorney. Apparently it was misspelled on NOA1 too and my fiancee told the attorney about it and he said he will fix it. Well he didn't. My interview is in 9 days and I have no idea how to deal with this problem. It's Saturday so we can't do much till Monday. I know we tehnically don't need the NOA2 till the AOS process but there is a chance my name might be misspelled in some of the documents they sent to the consulate. No way of knowing for sure. I can only hope this can be solved quickly but don't want to raise my hopes too high. If any of you have an idea or suggestion please feel free to share it.
It was too good to be true with no problems so far. When we thought everything was going smoothly this came up. Well we can only hope for a solution soon.
Keeping fingers crossed.

That is a bummer just_friend. I completely empathize with you in having to wait so long for the NOA2 then this comes up. I am very sorry to hear this but you must believe it will be a quick and "simple" correction.

I do have a non-related question for you. How did you find the NVC received and sent dates on your case? Did that come from receiving the NVC notification in the mail and then tracking by the web or their phone system?

FINALLY !!!!!! CRIS NOA2 EMAIL RECEIVED TODAY !!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Quick story. Last month I signed a contract for a new construction home here in Houston. So, I flew her in from Rio last Friday to sit down with our builder to make all of the exterior structural and interior selections for the home...floors, tile, appliances, fixtures, etc etc etc. Six hour process today. Guess what....as we were finishing up final selections, guess what arrived....the CRIS EMAIL !!! OMG. Couldnt have come at a more perfect moment. She cried, we hugged, kissed...and the design consultant was like, what the heck is going on. HAHA. Anyway, thought you might like the story.

With that said, I am now praying for all of those who are having to continue the wait for their approvals. This is a great site and I appreciate everyone here who contributes. Is like a big family. Thank you everyone for that.

So, onward from here to the next steps !!!!

Hey everyone. Although this is my first post here, I've been reading for a few months now. I just wanted to report that I got my NOA2 on 4/4/09. I was so happy when I got the news biggrin.gif The long wait is finally over, but I kno I'm not out of the water yet. Itjust puts us that much closer to finally being with each other biggrin.gif Hang in there to those who haven't got their NOA2 yet. It's on its way....

Hey where is our approval? Wish VSC would learn to file in order
they are received. Government, go figure. Oh well, congrats to
all those approved.

Let's pray the rest of us get approved soon. I am getting
frustrated waiting for an email/letter. Not even able to check
online or call. Me and my love are always praying for an approval,
we really need His blessings. I leave all up to Him. I pray He'll
allow us to get that much closer to being together with an
approval soon.

I need to be able to hold my love again.

Good Luck Everyone!!
Another week another step closer to getting approval whistling.gif

I hear ya Vol.....it is a bit agonizing, albeit self-imposed. The CSC vs. VSC processing times are a bit frustrating as well. But, I will never take away from those who waited just as long (and in many cases longer) for their NOA2's and subsequent events to take place.

The way we look at it....one day more of waiting is one day closer to it happening.

Keep the faith everyone who is in limbo. In it together.

Good Friday isn't a federal holiday, so VSC should be open. However, a lot of folks might take vacation time so it could be slow.

Thanks for the update AmyStan. As you can see, we are still clinging to hopes of an approval any day.

Love this site...provides us support during a time when you want to just pull your hair out.

Thanks everyone....for those of us still awaiting our approvals, keep the faith. One more day of waiting is one day closer to being together forever.

My NOA1 date is 12/18 and I just got approved!! I was beginning to think Vermont had closed shop. I hope the rest of you December filers all get your approvals soon!!!

Congrats to all approved with December filings !!! kicking.gif

Now, how 'bout some of us poor November peeps getting the green light? Wut up VSC? Talk about an agonizing wait. whistling.gif

This process definitely tests patience and fortitude.

I feel sooo bad for people like you. It's s not fair. You were a month before me. I don't understand how this works and why it's sooo unfair. I really hope you get yours soon!

Your words are soothing and encourging that so many of us in this process truly feel the same struggle at times, very late at night, just thinking about that damn file sitting on a desk, in a cabinet, our lives almost hanging in the balance. I wonder if that processing agent looks at that file as someone's life or just a security threat. A bit dramatic, I know.

The way I look at it...41 years to find the true soulmate to my dying day is so worth waiting for. heart.gif Life is a journey; grab it, hold it, experience it, and never, ever let go.

To all of you, us, who wait in the wings for our NOA2 and approvals...our day is coming. One more day of patience towards a lifetime of bliss and experiences with the one you were TRULY meant to be with.

Ok, the soapbox just crumbled beneath me....lol. tongue.gif

This is a great forum and I appreciate those who put their time and effort into sharing and believing in a true purpose.

yep they need to.. but it's good to see though that those who have been waiting since december are finally getting NOA2s, i cant imagine how that feels to have waited for so long

Hang in there everyone. The NOA2 email / document will arrive before you know it. Patience is the key ingredient through this process. My fiance just received the visa in her passport one week ago and we filed mid-late November and had to endure an additional 31 days at the NVC for "Additional Processing". Talk about frustrating.

We definitely feel for everyone dealing with the anxiety and feeling as though this visa process completely controls your ability to plan ANYTHING.

If there is anything we can do to assist anyone here, please do not hesitate to send a PM. VJ is where you can find the support everyone. Take advantage of it. We are all in this together in one way or another.
