K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCertificate of Naturalization photocopy
I've recently became a US Citizen through Naturalization (04/18/07). From the guide it says to photocopy both front and back of the certificate to show proof of US Citizenship. However, the back of my original certificate did not have any information to be photocopied. If I look real close, I can see the seals that have been embedded on the paper. But it did not seem to show up when I made the copy on the back. What should I do? Thanks.

I wouldnt volunteer the money support receipts

Hmm. Would this be a problem? I haven't send my package yet and if this could cause problems then I'll just take them out. Has anyone have had any experience with this? Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdditional Evidence
Originally that's what I was thinking. By providing these photos (my mom, her entire family, engagement ceremony, banquet) hopefully it will show them that we're very much committed to each other and want to get marry. I just wasn't sure if this may delay the process or it may cause any misunderstanding. I think I will clearly write on the back of each photo to explain that this was an engagement ceremony and not a wedding. Thanks again! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdditional Evidence
Thank you everyone for your input. I will provide enough evidences as requested and leave out the rest. Like all of you have said, save it for later for the time of the interview if they ask for it. I'm waiting for the g-325a and Fiance letter of intent from my fiancee. It should be here in a week and I can start the submission. Thanks again for your advices.

Should I mention about the engagement ceremony in the "Declaration of how you met in person..."? Thanks again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdditional Evidence
Thank you. I feel that I have strong evidences that she and I spent time together (5 weeks total on two seperate visits). I have all the boarding passes, both hers and mine on trips that we took together, hotel receipts with both of our names on them, many pictures of us together at various locations, as well as paperwork of my name being registerred to stay at her house through the city (This is the government's requirement when you enter the country). Other evidences I have would be phone bills and receipts of monthly support where I would send her some $. The only reason I asked the question because I ran into a thread here at this forum that someone mention one incident where some photos looked like they were from a wedding and thus caused the process to be denied. I just don't want to take that chance and wanted to double check first before I begin to send in my package. Thanks again for your help. This is a great site!!

Your mother's trip really adds no substantive proof of you having met you fiancee in person. As for the engagement ceremony... my advice would be if in doubt .... leave it out..... (your caution is a valid)

If your primary evidence is strong then a few pictures is all that would be needed.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdditional Evidence
Hello,

I've been reading alot on this forum this past couple weeks and have found this site very informative and helpful. With that, I'm about to file for I-129F and have a question regarding additional evidence that I'm not sure if it's ok to include or not. My fiancee and I did an ENGAGEMENT ceremony and hosted a dinner banquet at a restaurant back in her country (Vietnam). I have pictures of the ceremony and also at the restaurant where we invited all of her family, relatives, and friends. Also, my mother went with me on this second trip to represent for my side of the family as it is customary in our cultural for this in order to make the ceremony more respectible. My question is: Is it ok for me to submit these photos (of the ceremony and banquet) as well as my mother's boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. as additional proofs or would that be irrelevant? I just want to provide to them a complete picture as possible and not leave anything out. But at the same time, I don't want them to think this was a wedding type because in Vietnam the Engagement and Wedding ceremony is almost identical with the only difference would be the wedding gown/tuxedo at the banquet and wedding cakes. This is the part where I am reluctant to send the photos in. Please advise. Thank you everyone.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBank Statement
Hi,

While back in Vietnam, I withdrew some money from an ATM machine. However the machine never gave me a receipt. I have those transactions recorded from my bank statement. I didn't see a bank statement listed in the guide and was wondering if this can be use as well. Another thing, for security purpose would it be ok for me to blank out my account number or leave as is? Thanks for any input in this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Stamps/Boarding Pass
Yes. Originally I photocopied the front cover, the first page with my picture and information, and then the page with the Visa date/time stamp. Then I got paranoid and afraid that they may want to see ALL the pages of the Passport.

Just make sure that at least you include the page were your picture is if not how are they going to know the stamps belong to your passport? .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Stamps/Boarding Pass
I'm just paranoid that they may question where are the rest of the pages since the Visa/Stamps were placed on pages 10, 11, and 13. You're right about wading through the first 5 empty pages. Maybe I'm overthinking the process.

If you're not using it to prove citizenship, I'd only do the relevant pages. Why give them irelevant information to wade thru?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Stamps/Boarding Pass
Thanks everyone for the quick reply. I've photocopied ALL the pages just to be on the safe side. I've added a note on the first page of the Passport to instruct the Adjudicator to look at the page # for the date/time stamp. Hopefully it'll be ok.

It's better to include all the pages of the passports. We copied all of the passports pages and printed all the flight itineraries and boarding passes, just like you said, some copies of the boarding passes didn't turn out very clear, so we included the itineraries also.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Stamps/Boarding Pass
I'm not using the Passport to prove my citizenship because I have the Certificate Of Naturalization. I'm trying to provide them with the Date/Time stamp of my visit to Vietnam and was wondering if ALL pages are neccesary to photocopy. In any case, I think I might as well do it just to be sure. Thanks for the input.

11. Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship

Ah - kitkat makes a point - I was assuming you were using the passport and stamps as proof of having met in the past 2 years. But what kitkat listed is correct if you are using the passport to establish your US citzenship. Your question wasn't clear, but I apologize for my assumption.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Stamps/Boarding Pass
Hello,

I'm very close to sending out my package, most likely tomorrow. I have 2 questions.

1. For the Passport, do I photocopy ALL the pages? The date/time stamp only appeared on page 10 of my passport for both trips that I took and the rest of the pages are empty. As of now, I photocopied the front cover of my passport, the first page with my picture and info, and page 10 to show the date/time stamp for the 2 visits.

2. My boarding pass from the first trip can not be seen clearly when photocopied since the ink faded a little. I can read the date/time from the original, but when it's photocopied it doesn't show up well. To try and support this, I have the itinerary, airline receipt, and the passport date/timestamp for that trip. I know it said not to send original, but in this case I feel like I want to since I don't want to get an RFE and cause any delays.

Any suggestion would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, you can create a new account but you will need to use a different e-mail address. I have 2 accounts on USCIS, one for the time when I filed for my US Citizenship. The second account is for my I-129F.

That's just rediculous. I signed with black ink because it's stated on the form and got approved. I don't see how they can think a signature is not original unless the way you signed it looks as if it is in a printed format, which I highly doubted. This is unfortunate because they will process your case as if they just received it from new. mad.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChances of getting an RFE
The best thing to do is to follow the Guide on this forum and also check out the "RFE Master Thread" at the top to see how others have gotten the RFE. That's what I did for my case and it was approved without any RFE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F got approved...Now what happens next?
This would be your next step:

1. Visit this URL:

http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide

Scroll down to: "What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):"

2. There's a waiting period anywhere from 3-5 weeks where your NOA2 will be sent to the NVC office. Once NVC receives your case they will normally send it out within a week to the Consulate of your finacee. Of course if you call NVC, they will tell you that it can take 4-6 weeks to mail the petition to the Consulate.

3. You may want to check the Regional section of the forum for Canada here to find out the timeframe it takes from NOA2 to get the Visa:
http://www.visajourn...hp?showforum=93

Congratulations on your approval! good.gif good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExpecting a RFE
QUOTE (aappllee @ Nov 8 2007, 07:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys!

unfortunately, USCIS mailed out a RFE yesterday, which i expect to receive by next week.

I plan to fill up new I-129F and G325A forms (even if they won't require it) and send it back with the RFE package. My intention is to update my gf's address and employment info. We initially submitted the petition on june and but she changed her address on sept.

My question:

Do you think it's a good idea to make changes on those forms? Im just nervous that some info (address and employment), which is no longer true, will back fire in the future. However, if i do this, it might lead to confusion and another RFE.

Or should I just leave it alone and wait until the case is forwarded to USEmbassy and call them to give the correct address so appointment letter can be mailed to her. How about our employment info? Should we just let it be or should we do the update?

thanks guys

You're right, if you send them a new form it will cause some confusions. With the address change, that won't be a problem as you can call them up and they will do that over the phone. As far as the employment info that's another story. Maybe someone here can have more insight as what to do with that part.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE FOR CRIMES NEVER COMMITTED!!!!
Mirla, I'm sorry this has turned out to be a mess and that you are trying to handle this on your own since your fiance is very busy at work. I wish I am knowledgeable in this area to give you soundly advice, but from everything that I've read there are many many great advices given by our fellow VJ members. I agree with everyone that you need to find a lawyer, not just any lawyer, but someone who is an expert in Immigration Law and/or Criminal Law. If you can find one that has very good track records in both of those fields then it will help you out a lot. I know it's hard to do, but you must not rush into this. Take the time to carefully provide them with exactly what they need. A very good lawyer will be able to dissect the RFE letter and narrow down to what exactly is needed. Please do not try to do this on your own. We're all here for you to support you in this time of need. Just remember to try and take care of your health as well. Stay positive!

When you registered at the USCIS website, you can add your case to your Portfolio to follow the status. A "touched" just simply means that a new date have been updated on the website for your case. This could resulted when you called USCIS to inquire about your case, or it could be that someone is working on your case. Hope that helps.
