I'm deployed to the Middle East as well. No expedite, didn't apply and wouldn't qualify.

why you didnt try??

People don't for numerous reasons. Say you are deploying next month for a year, the visa process would be done fore you got back. Then how would you get married? I was discussing this with my fiance last night.

My fiance is USAF but we did not qualify for an expedite. If he has orders for Iraq you may be eligable. Get him to ring the free USCIS military helpline on 1-877-247-4645.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical exam question.
QUOTE (fredpson @ Nov 25 2008, 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi there. I was just wondering since im gathering information right now so i'll know what has to be done when the time comes for the interview and medicalexam etc.

My question to you VJ folks is: There is a list of doctors that does the visa medical and no one else can do it, like my pvt doctor? And if its so, where can i find this list of doctors that can do this in sweden? is there even a list? Thank you for reading!

You maybe given a list with your packet 3. I know in the UK there is only one surgey authorised to do visa medicals.

I found this on one of the Swedish Embassy websites

Do I have to get a medical exam?

Persons immigrating to the United States must be examined by the Embassy's physician to establish that they are not afflicted with any form of mental illness or dangerous contagious disease, such as tuberculosis or AIDS. An appointment for this purpose will be arranged when the final stage of the visa application is reached.

Is this for entering the US on a K-1 visa or just a regular visit? If it's for your k-1 it won't be a problem.

I did ours by myself and I'm the beneficiary. If your case isn't complicated and read through the step by step guides here on VJ and ask any questions if you are not sure, then you should be able to complete it by yourself.

I would prepare a statement but as spookyturtle says wait until they request it. There is every chance if you send in a piece of paper it will get buried in with all other paperwork. At least when they send an RFE they have your file out waiting for your response.

I think you can ring NVC, when you check to see if they have sent the case to the embassy, to get the case number.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do your parents/family take it?
My parents are very happy for me as they know that I will have a better life in the US than the UK. I'm 24, have a decent paying job but I can't even afford to rent my own place at the moment. I can barely afford to run my car sometimes.

I think my parent's kind of knew that I would end up moving to the US when Tom and I got serious with our relationship. They love him to pieces and know that he will take care of me. My Dad actually told me he can't wait for my wedding as he says he get to wear his best uniform and be the proud father of the bride.

It's not like they'll never see me again as it's so easy to hope on a plane nowadays what with flights getting cheaper. They are looking forward to coming to visit us every year!

I have two questions concerning the I-129F form...

1. What is the "A#" that is listed under question 8b. and 9.

2. Question 18- How detailed do I get? Do I go back to when we first met/communicated or are they just wanting to know about the first time we met in person?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

1. If you previously have been given an alien number such as for another type of visa that can go there otherwise just put NONE.

2. A paragraph outlining how, where and when you met is sufficient.

I know it sounds dumb but with something like this you tend to over think and worry about the simplest things. I do anyhow.

Thanks again

Don't worry I did the same with one of the questions on the G325A. Best thing to do sometimes is ask a fresh pair of eyes to look at it or go back to the question a couple of hours later.

Ok guys. I am going to be mailing my forms to my fiance TODAY!!!

I'm still unsure on one part of the G325A. I did ask it on someone else's topic but got no response.

On the G325A, as the benefactor, where is says, Last address outside the US for more than a year. Do I put none, my current address (only lived there 2 months, or my old address which I lived at for over a year?

Please help because as soon as my question is answered I can print and send.

Thank you so much and sorry for another G325A thread.

Luke

Exactly as the questions says, the last address you have lived at outside of the US for more than a year. So it would be your previous address.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust Visited My K-1 Fiancee in the US! All Went Well!
Sometimes I think where you are staying makes them ask more questions. I was asked why I was entering (this was my first trip to the US in a couple of years) and I said holiday. He then noted from my I-94W where I was flying onto and staying which was a very very small town in the middle of nowhere in PA. It caught his attention as why would I be holidaying there and not in some well known city. That's when I was forced to elaborate and say I was seeing my boyfriend and staying with his parents, luckily he was ok with it and we had a bit of banter before he let me through.

Umm,..just to note,..being military, you only need to meet 100% of poverty level, not 125%

We thought that was specific for the I-864 but that's not a problem to us.

Thanks for the responses guys.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary Allowances on I-134
My fiance was just going through the I-134 and had a couple of questions.

1. Being in the military, the bulk of his pay is made up of allowances. Does he put his basic pay + allowances in the income part or just his basic pay and then list the allowances on a supplement sheet? His basic pay will still be over the poverty line if he just lists that.

2. He has other personal property, various classic cars and motorcycles, which together are worth a substantial amount of money however he's never had them appraised. Is it worth putting this amount down? Is the embassy likely to ask for proof if he does?

Thanks in advance.

If you have your case number, then you can register for an account on USCIS.gov and you will able to see your 'last updated' date. You can get your case number from your NOA2 or the back of the cashed cheque.

If any additional info is needed they will send a Request for Evidence (RFE) to the petitioner. Depending on how long it takes for you to gather the information requested and to send back to USCIS may impact on approval date. They will put your case on hold until they receive the information.

For your father, complete the details as normal but put deceased in the resident part. We also put the year he died in brackets. For your mother, if she lives in a different city to the one she was born in then put that. I can't see the form at work but I recall there is a space for birth and a space for residence.

Don't worry about it I'm sure you will have enough. As long as you have evidence to show you were in a relationship between filing the I-129F up to the embassy you should be good. I'll probably get flamed for this but the London Embassy is renouned for not requesting to see ongoing evidence. Just let him take what you have, even those little emails as it shows communication.

Thanks for responding pushbrk! I was worried I might have to present pay stubs/tax information. So, I shouldn’t have to worry about this?

If you are petitioning for a fiance(e) visa these will need to be provided alongside the I-134, Affidavit of Support, at the interview. However you can send these to her. If you read the guides on the visa process and also visit the Embassy website it will have all the information you both need. Also, please fill in your timeline so people can tailor their responses to your questions. Not all family visas are the same.

According to the USCIS they are still within processing times. Anything before 7 Mar 2008 (for VSC) is outside of processing times. It's silly I know but when the dates are updated soon, hopefully changed to a closer date, then they should be able to call.

Thank you all for the advice. This really help me a lot in perparing for the I-129f package.
FYI: Yes there is an engagement cerificate in her country.

1) Just to recap on passport photo: total of passport photo is 2 right?
2) on I-129f part B "Describe the circumstances under which you met." Does it has to be long or it can be two or three sentences?

thanks for pointing out the expense receipts.

1. It's one US sized passport photo for the petitioner and one US sized passport photo for the beneficiary.

2. Don't make it too long, they don't need a story, just the facts, where, how , when you met etc. A good idea is to relate these facts to the evidence you have provided.

We were very similar to this, but before the interview kinda came up with an answer to the question, "When did you propose to her?" of "When did you get engaged?" so he wouldn't go blank. And the answer was, "We decided we wanted to be married sometime in January when I went to visit her. There wasn't a big formal proposal or engagement."

That's similar to what I'm going to say if asked.
