United KingdomHot Plane Deals

We just booked our flight from Nashville, TN to London Gatwick. ( not a direct flight, stopover in Detroit ) We used Northwest (www.nwa.com) The cost was $642.00 per ticket. It was actually the cheapest we found and searched several different sites.

Wow - thanks for that - I usually travel to Nashville from Gatwick via Charlotte in North Carolina - last time was $680 with US Airways. Julie has flown via Chicago with American Airways to Heathrow.

United KingdomPacket 4!

So Chas and I just mailed back packet 3 on Monday (4/16). Today, we got packet 4 in the mail with an interview date of June 8th at 9 am!!!!!!!!!!

The letter was dated on Thursday. I cannot believe the fast turnaround on this - have no idea why or how we got that so quickly. But I'm not complaining!!! :D :dancing: AND today is Chas' birthday. :) (L)

Finally we can start making more firm plans instead of talking about everything in more general terms.

WHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hey Tracey - fantastic news on Packet 4. Glad you had a great trip to Blighty and here's hoping a speedy month to June 8th!

United Kingdomdepression and suicide attempt
I had my medical today and like eveyone else, about 6 years ago, I suffered depression and made two suicide attempts. Since then, I've been fine, not seen a psychiatrist for 6 years and am not on medication. I looked at the posts on VJ and got a letter from my GP confirming all this and saying there had been no problems since.

Now, they want another letter, stating the possibility of causing harm to myself, others or of needing psychiatric help in the future. Sorry, but I don't have a crystal ball and neither does my GP, who's refused to amend the letter in case he gets sued in the future! Luckily, I can obtain a report through my occupational health department as I work in the NHS - but anyone not lucky enough for this may struggle - unless you get a report from a clairvoyant!

They will tell you what to bring (via packet 3). Obviously you'll need the originals of the documents in your petition, and your (physical) NOA2 as well.

That link has some more info as well. Isn't VJ informative?

Thanks for that Tracey - yep, VJ is soooo informative - wish we'd found it in January!

By the way, I have a current enhanced police check through my employer - do you know if that is acceptable in place of a police certificate?

Could anyone advise me what documents I will need to take to the interview in London? We've not yet received an NOA2 but I want to prepare as much as possible in advance so some guidance would be appreciated.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Question 11

Before I thought I should put down that I will be sure to give my fiancee at least X dollars a month, and whatever else she needs beyond that for as long as she wants or needs anything from me (or something from that nature). It just sounds weird though. I really don't understand what they're asking for in question 11. I mean, we're getting married, we're not setting up payment plans. We both promise to take care of each other however we can.

Also, my parents are co-sponsors since I'm a student. Should they put something down for question 11? They don't plan to make a specific contribution, but they will offer room and board if needed (for that matter, I'm ALSO offering room and board, so its double covered).

What is this question really asking? Have other people in a similar situation filled this out with anything useful? It seems like a really strange question. Thanks!!!!

-Tim

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 question

how should i answer question 11 on the I-134 Affidavit of Support?

11. That I [] intend or [] do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3.
(If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnishroom and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and state whether it is to be given in a lumpsum, weekly or monthly, or for how long.

of course i will support him with everything he needs until he gets comfortable here and a work permit. should i just stay that?
thanks!
