So i wanted to know what does everyone else do all day long when they are in the USA and their other half has to work?????

Thanks

I think even you want to work, you do not have EAD Card, right? Do you have license here in driving? You can study or review the manual and take a written test so when you have the EAD Card you can work.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Expedite NVC Process

Recenly, my I-130 Application for my mom was approved last Nov 21st. It was expedited and the senator's office will help me follow up and will expedite at NVC.

Question:

1. It will be same process to NVC and address need to send required documents if the expedite will be approved? I read that after they approval of expedite they transferred it to consulate?
2. I already have some of the civil documents of my mom and still waiting for some documents in the Phil. If NVC approve the expedite and directly transfer to consulate, where I will send the documents needed?
3. If NVC approve the expedite request? What will be the different process between expedited to the regular process?

HELLO VJ'S,

I AM NEWBIE HERE... I AM SO CONFUSED ABOUT MY COMING INTERVIEW DEC. 18, 2009, CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME TIPS OR TELL ME WHAT DOES THE CONSULATES QUESTION TO THE APPLICANTS? PLS HELP, THANKS! tongue_ss.gif

Hello, goodluck.

Here are my tips.

1. Be sure that you will bring all the required documents... try to organize it too.
2. You need to be at the embassy earlier to the set interview time
3. Do not bring any electronics
4. QUESTIONS: In my case, just simple question...
They asked me the questions that were written in the documents we submitted
a. Where did we meet?
b. How many times we meet?
c. What is the work of my fiance? Where he works? How long he has been working to his company?
d. Are you going to work in US?

Just simple questions...

Above all, I believe in the power of prayers.

Good luck.

I received my NOA2 dated on Nov 12 but neither my fiancé or I have received a letter or anything since. Is this a bad thing? How do I find out the status of our petition once the NVC gets it? How do I tell if the embassy received it? I don't really know what's going on so far.

Hi, contact NVC and talk to the live operator... my husabnd kept on calling them, but they kept on saying that they do not received it until we found out that it was already sent to Manila US Embassy. whistling.gif .

3 days after the embassy received our packet my husband was able to set an interview appointment, He call 3 times tongue_ss.gif because the embassy operator didn't allow him (2 times same operator) she said we have to wait for the letter, but he tried to call again in a different time and he finally set it, print the confirmation and shown it to St. Lukes for medical.

I also have a friend, she thought that her paper was stuck at NVC, her fiance kept on calling them and they didn't tell any progress to their paper until they received the letter from the embassy.

In my experience and knowing the experience of my friend... sometimes even when we call NVC they do not give the accurate or update information. smile.gif

In my case, we just received an email notifications for the interview appointment with the link for the required documents you will bring in the interview and about the medical.

You can print out the email for your medical at St. Luke's and bring the required documents. You must know your MNL#. Thanks

Thanks for the information,

Good that I was able to talk to the embassy call agent rep before they resume on Jan 2nd... Hopefully her info are correct. It's almost the same as the responds above.

She said that my mom will bring the affidavit of support documents during her interview and wait to consule's instruction about the fee, she probably not pay the AoS fee but to be sure just to bring money according to her.

She will also bring all the required civil documents during the interview.

She will pay $230 visa fee during her interview.

She also said to DISREGARD the intructions to bring the MRV fee receipt and DS-160

Do I need to pay the MVR now?
Are the same documents that I suppose to submit at NVC will be submitted by my mom during her interview?
When and where I will pay the AOS?

The instruction only stated this.

Bring appointment letter
Your original MVR fee receipt
Valid passport
Ds160 confirmnation page

I found out about the USCIS workload, I filled my mom's petition on May 21st and it's been 5 months now.

I was planning to expedite the petition due of my daughter's autism diagnosis. I left my job to stay home for my daughter's in-home ABA therapy. We are having tight budget but not extreme finacial lost so I decided to wait.

I checked the status online but still not even touch, do you think that it's advisable to seek for our congressman or senator's help while it's not yet touch or transfer? Or it's better to wait until they transfer my case?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for information, I appreciate it. The senator staff told me last Nov 13th that she will contact me as soon as she hears back. As of now, I didnt hear from her.

Yes, She probably put financial hardship. Because I clearly stated in my email to her that loss of job but more medical expenses. My husband has 3 jobs so he is earning good money but loosing my job and more medical expenses (for my daughter, husband who has medical procedure for 3 months and my dad who is recently diagnose that has tuberculosis so I have to help financially) make a difference since our expenses are already set. So I do not know if it's qualified for extreme financial hardship.

So as others we waited for our turn, but then decided to submit expedite request because it was over 5 months and not even touched.

In 6.a my husband current income (approximate income in a year?)

Then I will just add it and write the total in Part 6 number 10 is this right? My reference here is the employment verification and paystubs?

Second I am petitioning my mom, I will fill out I-184 and my husband will fill out the I-184a

Question in Part 2 number 13 ( sponsor promise) in I-864A my name will be written and I will sign in number 14? Or it is my husband's name and signature?

Then in Part 3, Household member will be my husband's name and he will sign it, right?

Or I will fill up I-864 and check 1.a and my husband will also fill up I-864 and check 1.d and put our income in both forms? Will only answer 10 and will leave 11 and 12 blank? Is this the joint sponsor? Sorry if I am so dull about this Affidavit of Support.

Hi there,

I brought two albums of pictures for my interview last November 19. I also had 2 clearbooks for the documents:

1 album for wedding pics
1 album for our vacations together ( contains pics of my parents, my in-laws, friends and relatives- with a caption for most important pics

1 clearbook- containing important documents-in order :

marriage cert
birth cert
nbi clearance
police clearances
Hubby's passport biographic page
my previous ID's bearing my maiden name
Hubby's itineraries/ boarding passes
receipts of his gifts to me
receipts of hotels
other receipts pertaining to the visa processing
money remittances
my in laws' notes and emails to me

1 clearbook- containing our emails and chat logs

By the way, let me just share my experience on my interview:

The pre- screener only asked for 5 pics! OH My! I brought 2 albums- heavy!!
asked for recent emails and chat logs
asked for money remittances

Had I known that the embassy will only ask those from me, I would not have brought 2 heavy albums with me. hahaha
I only even gave our wedding pics!

I was never asked for the affidavit of support since I am a CR1 visa applicant ( Hubby submitted already). The K1 applicants were all asked for the AOS.

The pre-screener asked more questions than the consul did.

It went good by God's grace.

Goodluck on your interview date.

I and my fiance also brought too much stuff...

200+ snail mails
300 pages of emails, chat and e-cards
an album of pictures

It was too heavy....

Then the pre-screener told me just few pictures and recent emails. The pre-screener interviewed my fiance and was not me biggrin.gif , even my fiance answered all the questions for me. It happened that the pre-screener lived in MN for few months and he was asking a lot of stuff about our state. The consul just asked me few questions and I don't think he was listening eventually he congratulated me...

It depends upon the State, in California that's the ruling. I think she is from California... I am from Minnesota they didn't allow me to have the ssn# a day after I arrived, I tried it, they said I have to wait until 2 weeks, because they said it's not yet in the system I know there are different rulings from different state.
e
In Modesto California or maybe in all city in CA, 60 days before the I-94 expire they allow an individual to have the state ID, my friend in Modesto, CA need to have her EAD card before she have the permanent in driving (She was not allow to have the state ID because it was over 60 days before her I-94 expires, I applied for my State ID 2 times (Single and then with married name) just to fulfill the 60 days requirements and I have my permanent now) and not eventually the driver's license and need to wait until 90 days after I took my permanent ,I do not have a license in the PH even I know how to drive now. In DMV California Handbook the list of require documents are stated there.

Thanks

FYI, we're living in Austin, TX. happy.gif

Sorry, I misunderstood it. I apologize.

In my case, a day after I arrived I applied for SSN# waited for almost 1 hr but asked me to go back after 2 weeks.

I also applied for state ID for identification purpose (it took 2 weeks after my application) , opening a joint account after marriage, beneficiary enrollment, credit card transaction. I also used it for AOS filling.

I read in this forum that in TX you are not allow to have a state ID or to have written test for driving if you do not have the EAD Card or GC? I am not sure of it because I am not from TX. I advise you to call your local DMV Office or licensing center if you want to have the state ID, it's your choice or it's optional if your allow to have it.

In my case, I also used my state ID in my written test for driving because in our place we need to know how to drive. I also shown my passport and unexpired I-94, DMV officer also asked for the AOS receipt but on that time I just filled it and I do not yet receive my NOA1 but I was able to take my permanent.

You need the marriage license... after your wedding you can apply for AOS for $1,010+ I-693 expenses. Be sure about the documents you will send because I and my husband checked the documents required many times but still we have the RFE.

I hope it helps. Thanks

You can file for you SSN the day you arrive, No need to wait a certain time.

Not advisable according to VJ's Step-by-Step Guide to Getting SSN
http://www.visajourn...h...om&page=ssn

As a K-1 Visa Holder you are eligible to receive a SSN upon producing a valid I-94 (unexpired). Do not wait until you only have a few weeks left until your I-94 expires to file for a SSN. Many SSA offices will not allow you to file for a SSN if your I-94 is about to expire (generally 14 days prior to the expiration on your I-94).

On the other hand, you should also not file for a SSN too soon either. You should wait 2 weeks after you arrived in the US before applying for a SSN. If you go too soon your record of arrival will not be in the SAVE-ASVI system yet, and it will require manual verification from the USCIS. As this will add weeks to the period it takes to process the SSN, it is advisable to attempt to wait the two weeks to be safe. If you have waited the 2 weeks and they tell you they can not verify you arrival record via the SAVE database, you may allow them to to process it (but remember the potential delay for manual verifications). You can ask if they will check the computer again for you in a few days or return personally to have them look again -- thus eliminating the manual verification. The manual verification will require the SSA office to file a G-845 with the USCIS.

Yes, this was the answered of the lady at the SSA Office because after I arrived I applied for SSN# but asked me to come back after 2 weeks because my records is not yet on database on that time. good.gif

Welcome to US. Well as soon as possible you will start some documents filling. But enjoy being together first.

SSN# -2 weeks after you arrived you can able to apply for ssn#

State ID- It's optional to apply for State ID but it serves as your Identification. NOTE: In California 60 days before I-94 expires you can apply for State ID

You can file for you SSN the day you arrive, No need to wait a certain time.

State ID - Not gonna happen in Texas until you recieve your EAD or GC, No Driver Licences either until you get either EAD or GC.

Thanks

Well I thought she is from California. I misunderstood she just flew in California...sorry, but I hope my response will help others esp those who are in California, Minnesota and other state with the same rulings.

PhilippinesWhat happens after your packet leaves NVC?
QUOTE (rogue320 @ Dec 9 2009, 01:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone. Our packet left NVC on 12-2 and we were assigned a NVC case #. I have not yet recieved a letter from the NVC. Is there any way to check and see if the Embassy in Manila has recieved it? At what point will they allow us to set a interview date?

Thanks in advance for any information anyone can provide.

Hi, I will share my case and the case of my friend.

Two weeks after we received the email notification my husband tried to call the NVC, I think it's better to talk to the live operator because sometimes if you will check it by the case # it is not updated. My husband kept on calling but the costumer representative told him that they do not yet receive our papers only to find out that it was sent to the US Embassy.

So they gave us the date when they sent it, then 3 days after the embassy received it we set an interview date, we didn't wait for the US Embassy letter. But my husband tried to call 3 times because the operator didn't allow him to set an appointment until my husband tried to call again in different time and he was able to set the date.

In the case of my friend, her fiance kept on calling the NVC but they also said that they do not yet process their papers until she received a letter from the US Embassy.

I just shown my email notifications for the interview at St. Lukes to have my medical.

I hope it helps.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar Poll
According to my friend having the CFO sticker is the hardest part for her... even she cried, her tears were useless. No one can ever think that they need a letter from her fiance stating that he will marry her.

She cried to them saying her fiance worked hard for her ticket, and rescheduling the flight will cost more than $200... their answered was, "Don't worry about it, he will be the one who will pay for it."

The seminar can be a help..., but I hope they should be fair about the required documents. And second, maybe there are petitioner who are bad... but I think it's not good to have a seminar feeding us only negative information about living in a foreign land, it's unfair to some Americans or other nationality that are really true in loving the Filipina.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar Poll
My friend was able to reschedule her flight because of the seminar.

She was petitioned by an American before but they didn't get married and then she fell in love to another American and petitioned her. A day before her flight to US she flew to Manila from the province to have seminar. They didn't give her the certificate because they were asking for a formal letter coming from the petitioner that he will marry her. At the end, her flight was rescheduled... because no certificate, no CFO sticker.

But I know someone, without CFO sticker she was able to have her flight in US.... no certificate and no CFO sticker in her passport.

I hope they will be consistent about their rulings, be sure about the requirements....
