Will the taxi at the airport in El Paso take you into Juarez? Any idea on the cost?

No only one person (You could try the gruads might not stop you from waiting in line), The line is outside the consulate. I think even you could insted of your fiance. No not on saturdays and sudays, Last friday of the month and Mexican and american Holidays. Sorry

Is there ever a time that is too late to go for the medical. My fiance and I will be there on Monday, but my flight doesn't get in until 1140 AM.

Go to this link and click the link to Medical Exam Instructions. It says that visa applicants are accepted from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. I hate to give you bad news, but it looks like you will be too late on Monday.

moving from K-1 to consulate forum

So, does this mean I will not have to take the police record to the interview? Is there something else i could take in it's place?

Thanks

CDJ knows it does not exist.... they will not be expecting anything

My fiance is in Cancun and was able to request the police certificate, they charged him $20 and he can pick it up tomorrow...

I'm planning to go on the 25th. So who ever goes next week please post your experience and everything.
thanks everyone and good luck

Keep in mind that if you are going on May 25th, it's a US holiday so the consulate will be closed. They also close on 1 random day per week, usually Wednesdays and then they also don't process visas the last Friday of the month...so if you're talking May, you might want to wait a week. I know, easier said than done, but you don't want to get stuck there for longer than you have to...

We picked up Davys' visa the very next day...it took less than 5 minutes. Also we crossed the border in El Paso which was frustrating. If you're planning on crossing there, be prepared with 20 pesos to cross as well as $6 USD (it has to be USD or they will totally hassle you) at immigration. Also, they are NOT nice...so just try to keep your cool and assure them that the packet that you pick up from DHL is all you need to cross, plus the mexican passport that has the visa inside. Also, DO NOT open the DHL packet, just check to make sure that the visa inside the passport has all the correct information.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Sorry it's taken me so long to post. Davys' visa was approved at the Juarez consulate yesterday. He was there for about 7 hours. I've listed the questions they asked him below:

His name and when he was born?
Where did we meet?
Why does he want to marry me?
Do I have any kids and if so how old?
If he had met my family?
If I had met his family?
Where we would be living?
What he would be doing when he was in the US?
When we planned to get married?

He said that overall the interview part only took about 15 minutes, the rest of the time was just waiting. The CO also kept referring to me as his wife but he corrected her and she then said future wife. He said that the CO was very nice to him, joking around and laughing.

At this point, we are just waiting on the mess that is DHL. The phone number states that the visa isn't ready yet but the internet shows that it is, but it won't tell you what location to pick it up at. So we're trying one and then the other.

Also, when your fiances go to the consulate, be very careful about the people standing outside, numerous people approached Davys about things he was "missing" in his packet or how many copies he needed of what and that his pictures wouldn't work. They are just wanting your money, so ignore them. Also, DHL closes at 6PM, not 7PM like the taxi drivers tell you.

Hope that helps with any of your questions. Today we're leaving Juarez and crossing into El Paso, and then home to Denver.

Good Luck to all of you!!

I know we probably went a little overboard but we're arriving in Juarez sunday night, *hopefully* getting the letter printed and doing the medical on Monday, then interviewing on Tuesday. I was worried about the consulate closing at random which is why we planned extra time, plus we know it's closed at least on Friday because it's the last Friday of the month (then of course Saturday and Sunday). We've planned for 9 COMPLETE days in Juarez, including the weekend and the Friday that it's closed. So that's 6 days just in case of hiccups. We haven't booked the entire stay at the hotel, though, just through Wednesday. With AVIACSA it's 600 pesos to change the flights (per flight, per person), which is still cheaper than booking the whole 9 days in the hotel. I'd rather plan for longer and change the flights because it took less time than vice versa.

Viva: I don't think it'll hurt anything to ask if you can do it the same day, but just be prepared for them to say no. wacko.gif

Best of luck to you, too!

If you're staying at the Holiday Inn Express, rebook your room online versus extending it at the front desk. We had to extend our stay because of the random Wednesday closing issue and the front desk quoted us $80 USD per night. Expedia gave me a rate of $52 per night. While it's not a huge difference, 9 days is a long time...

Davys is at the Consulate now...he's been there for 6 and a half hours...waiting and not knowing what's happening is driving me crazy!

Anyone know why the consulate is closed today? Not processing applications? Or maybe someone has the 800 number for the consulate, the one that charges you $7 a minute to call?

That is so annoying. Now we have to wait until Monday. Closed for holy Thursday and Good Friday. Any idea if we go over to the consulate, will they tell us if they are open on Monday? I am so frustrated.
That is such a load of #######. How can they just decide to close one day? It is the busiest consulate in the WORLD and they just decide to close. Unbelievable!!! Luckily my fiance was able to get there yesterday or that would have made a disaster of our plans. I love my country and countrymen(most) but my government go get f#cked as far as I'm concerned. This immigration stuff is a bunch of bullsh#t!!! It's no wonder that so many try to do it illegally. It's so difficult, takes so much time and is SO expensive to try to do things the right way.

Congratulations! And I totally agree, I can't even explain my level of frustration. Now we are staying until at least Tuesday...
