Russia, Ukraine and BelarusWhere to withdraw money in Kiev?
Only problem I had was after first use of my card, mastercard decided to cancell for fear of fraud. I had even called and emailed my bank before I went. Someone droped the ball at my bank. I would advise that you inform your finiancial institution of you trip as to avoid this. Even when it happened it really was no biggie, a simple phone call and it was working fine. Another thing I did was moneygram my fiance some cash a few days before I went and she picked it up. I was also concerned about having alot of cash on my person. But knowing what I know now, In the future I will carry as much as needed I had no problems while there. And now I can not wait to get back there and bring her home.

Have a great trip

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusI129F: Divorced. Could that be a problem?
there was a 6 month clause in my divorce. you should check your divorce decree maybe. K1 requires you both to be free to marry.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPicking up Visa at "FedEx" in Kiev
i have read here somewhere, i think. That it takes about 48 hours once you are approved for visa, to actually pick it in Kiev. WE are also hoping to pick ours up an forego the waiting fedex to cross half of Ukraine for delivery something around 10 days. I am sure someone else with experience will chime in shortly. I would like to know for sure also.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusUkraine I'll Be Coming Soon!!!
And by slowing things down you mean less than 6 months for NOA2????????? I do not believe it could be any slower to tell you the truth. And if it does, then we will know someone has looked at our petition in the last 95 days. S**T!!!!!! give us an RFE, I really do not care at this point if we got one I would know we were about 20 days from approval. If I put evidence of our second meeting in the mail tomorrow it would be there by Tue. and in our file by Wed. It would prompt an update, at the very least make someone work on it. We should have NOA2 any day now and if we get that between now and when other evidence arrived then no harm done.

Do you know anyone who ever tried doing this, or is it speculation that prompts your response? Just curious :)

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusUkraine I'll Be Coming Soon!!!
Congrats Eddie and Liana,

But I am FN going crazy here to see this, another approval after Mar 11th. I know where you and Liana met because my fiancee and I met through the exact same agency several months before.

I wish you and Liana good fortune and happiness in life.

I'm about to go NUCKIN FUTS with this VSC thing. I think I will go pro-active and send in a suppliment of primary evedence of my second trip just to make sure our petition is still there. I spoke to USCIS on phone yesterday and he said if I had not heard anything by NOVEMBER  then they could put in a service request.
YOU GOTTA BE FN KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my village girl and my village girl loves me  I can not wait to continue the rest of our life together. This is exactly why I stayed far far away from Kiev and Odessa to look for my SO. I grew up near places this large but my heart was in the country with the cows and chicken's  I kept seeing episode's of Green Acres in my dreams. I was not about to take a girl out of the city because you can't take the city out of the girl.

TY Brad.
I see 13 of 15 on Igors were March filers, it's a good sign, I think. The trip was great and we enjoyed getting to spend that time together. It was not quite as saddening to leave this time, only a few tears shed. We know we are getting close to approval and we have front loaded all we can for pkt 3. Once embassy gets hold of things from NVC time will fly. I still have alot of prep to do here at the house. I really would like her to be happy with the condition of it and then make it our own together.

I want more       come on VSC!!!!!!!!! let this holiday weekend be a celebration of our new life together.

I personally would like to say, Thank you, to all that have served this great nation and paid the ultimate price in our armed forces for protecting our interest and preserving our freedom's at home and abroad.

There is no place like home. May God continue to bless America. RED,WHITE and BLUE forever!!!!!!!!!

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day holiday everyone.

Finally back on US soil, almost missed my connection from Chi to Hou last night. Just FYI you can not bring black caviar into US :bonk: , when asked what color I was declaring my answer was red  but customs wanted to varify it anyway  . YES the jet lag sux but to tell the truth it is a small sacrifice to pay to spend even 1 day in her arms for me. Even with the delays the time spent was quality time, that we would not have otherwise had in our life together. No NOA 2 yet but I know we are getting close

I have been reading some other trheads and it looks like the visa fee increase has gone into effect and currently stands at 350$. Is this true? It was 131$ at interview is it now 350$ ? If we have NOA 2 at 75 days or so, maybe we can squeek by ;) ?

well the weather the last two days was just beautiful taking the bus back to Odessa tomorrow. I am a little sad to leave again, no NOA 2 while here, bummer :( but the good side is we are getting closer every day and this trip was a bonus. Now back to US and work to wait out USCIS. It looks like some March filers are starting to get NOA 2's  so maybe I will be coming back in 6 or 8 weeks  TY to all for local info. I look forward to visiting our family here at least once a year to explore a bit more each time.

I think the arrival flight was delayed from the volcano thing but it seems ICE was looking for someone on our flight to Warsaw. The quickly found the person but getting their luggage was a different story. When I said to flight attendent lets go and we can send their luggage back to then, She looks very seriously at me and says, No we do not want to ride with this luggage!!!!!!! I turned around sat down and shut up after that :)

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusGoing to Odessa to see my SO WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!
Well after 24 hr delay in Warsaw I made it to Odessa to my SO's loving arms. I will not use LOT airlines again  , 3 hour delay at gate in Chicago caused about 50 passengers to miss connect to Kiev and 6-8 to miss connect to Odessa in Warsaw. They did however give us room and board for the night but I was a little sad to say the least that after flying across the Atlantic it would be one more night apart bummer :(. Enough :crying: I made it and the weather in very pleasent and the city is great. Maybe NOA2 while here, that would be awsome  4 hour ride to Kherson by bus was, well lets just say you aint gettin any sleep. That road completly SUX ! We are going to Grandmothers tomorrow for BBQ got the pork chops in tha marinade and I will make home made BBQ sauce for them. Man I love these open markets you got everything (almost) All is so fresh and bright with color no wax coated pesticide laden veggies here. just very happy to be here with ma girl (L)

TY fellow VJ'rs. Alesya and I did not get the chance to go there last time I was in UA. She had mentioned that she wanted to do some shopping there. She also said that the prices of things may be a bit less expensive because it is a port city. We are thinking of staying 2 days or so. Camera charged and ready  Anybody have any suggestions for places to stay. Would prefer apartment but hotel is an option also. Colonade huh? Should be all lit up at night. sounds romantic I am taking ring this time. I Will have to keep an eye out for that Gary, Thank you.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusTranslation question
VV ,
Recently there has been a change in policy, in Ukraine at least, that any origional docs ie. birth cert, police report, in Russian or Ukrainian language no longer need to be translated to english for visa. It may be different in your case (Russia) but for our K1 (Ukraine) they no longer require translations of these docs..

Cool I figured you had the inside scoop on it  Yes I understand about the translations for AOS but that is down the road a few months for us still. Just thought I would share , for those who are about to get interview ;)
cranehandMaleUkraine2010-07-05 14:16:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusNAO2 what is next?
TRANSLATIONS: Documents in English, Ukrainian or Russian do not need to be translated. When you arrive for the interview, you MUST present all the original documents accompanied by an English translation, which is produced by a certified translator, only if the document is not in English, Ukrainian or Russian. After the interview, all originals except the medical examination report will be returned to you. The consular officer has the right to request translation of any submitted document.

This is from updated Kyiv Embassy instructions 05-2010

Thank you for your quick response  I thought I had it right

As far as the train goes, she mentioned there was a small number of tickets out of Kyiv because of the amount of summer travelers going to the coast. Kherson to Kyiv no problem but Kyiv back to Kherson could be a problem IDK for sure. Like I said it is her territory so I am kinda out of that loop :bonk:
cranehandMaleUkraine2010-07-01 21:32:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPlease correct me if I am wrong!!!!
We now have KEV number from NVC/DOS, we are awaiting embassy receive and enter into their system our petition. Kev number is needed to schedule medical, yes? Not interview date. Can medical be done NOW? even before our petition is entered into Kyiv sys? Another ? We do not need await recieve package 3 to schedule interview. From what I understand My fiancee does not need return anything to embassy to say we are ready for interview. That is what the call center is for, yes? All docs for interview can be brought to interview, It used to be fiancee would fax or mail letter stating they were ready for interview. This is not how it is now is it?

Also,it seems we have a bit of a problem getting from Kyiv to Kherson this time of year(summer season) by train and neither of us wants to ride that bus. So does anyone here have any suggestions as to how we can get back to Kherson from Kyiv if not by train or bus.

Car maybe? please give me your thoughts on this. I am sure she will find a way, it is her territory and she has proved to be extremely resourceful on so many other things. We would like to have medical done while we are waiting for interview, just another thing to check off the list while we wait some more

Thanks all,

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSeeking couples for friendship
Good advice Brad,

I surley want her to make her own group of friends, but I intend to emmerse her into full USA mode upon arrival. She has her Ukrainian friends and she will maintain contact im sure, some of those so called friends have shown their true colors since we have now moved forward in the visa process and they are none to thrilled to say the least. Much negetivity and resentment from some of them  it makes her sad because she has know them for many years. Even the parents of these people have shut her out. I really do not see a good reason to seek out a Ukrainian group of friends for her here. I am sure that community is small here where we will be living and maybe she will meet a few through ESL classes but chances are slim.

Oh, and the "deer in the headlights" phrase has been replaced with the Russian equivilent. "Boiled fish. Eyes open but nothing there" I witnessed it the first time Alla went to the deli counter and ordered "500 grams of roast beef Pazhalsta"

Thats good stuff right there
