United KingdomVisa4UK site is down, I guess??

Hi,

I've posted on here before about my problems with Visa4UK, but I'm just wondering if there is anyone else out there right now who is trying to use Visa4UK to apply for a UK visa? I've been attempting to apply for a visa on the website since Jan 30th, 2014 but I get an error message when I click the black box to book an appointment for my biometrics. I can't get any farther than signing my declaration. Fortunately I haven't gotten stuck on a pay page.

Anyway, let me know if you're having issues--or not. That's important too!

Thanks guys.

UKBA has no contact phone number of which I am aware. All they provide you with is a useless e-mail which nobody answers. I can attempt to call the British Embassy in the US, but they don't provide visa services to US Citizens. I think the most I can do with them is lodge a complaint that Visa4UK is a horrible service.

Well that's basically what we're trying to do. He can't travel alone, so I took the trek back over to the US to apply for a visa to get married in the UK. At least then we could be together (albeit after another filing of documents, and yet another fee) without interruption and could get together some resemblance of a normal life.

As an update, the Book Appointment site seems to still be down as I'm still getting the same error message today. Sigh. I have made an appointment at a USCIS center via INFOPASS on my own, so if it isn't resolved by then maybe that would be some help. I don't know.

I think I read somewhere that it can be tricky to do the i-130/adjustment of status/whatever it is if someone comes over on the VWP and gets married. Like, you have to prove it wasn't your intention to get married in the first place because you should've had a K-1 then.

I hadn't heard about the greencard being voided if he returns to the UK. I guess the main issue for us is that he's disabled, and I'm his primary carer so being together is actually a big deal. In the scope of things, we want to live in the US so we were planning on getting married in the UK then in 6 months DCF in London. I was just looking at the wait times for US visas and determined that we would likely be in the UK for awhile before we got to that point. But of course, the longer I'm in the UK, the harder it is for me to claim US Residency.

Thanks for the ideas!

We want to have the option to live permanently either place, but the quickest route to doing this is for me to get a visa to get married in the UK because at least then we don't have to be apart while his I-130 is processing for the US when we decide to do that.

Does that make it clearer?

By the way, I don't have an issue logging in to the homepage. It's when I click on "Book Appointment" that I get an error message (see attachment).

Right, yeah, I'm a US Citizen applying for a UK visa to get married in the UK. It's supposedly a much quicker process than waiting for the K-1 to get processed here in the US for him. I've read it only takes about 15 days to get your visa using the expedited process for the UK, and I was completely banking on that to happen but now I'm worried I'll have to change my flight because the site is down. OF ALL THINGS!! It's so frustrating because we've done so much work to this point that I thought this would be the easy bit! Go online, fill in the application, go get my fingerprints done, send it all off--bam.

Ugh. It's been down or whatever since Jan 30th when I first tried applying so this is now the 3rd day of trying to book an appointment. It seems hopeless that it will ever actually work.

I've tried using different browsers--the ones they recommend but it still doesn't work. It clearly must be an issue with the server on their end, but it'd be nice if they put up a little note saying "Hey, we're aware of this issue, it'll be fixed soon" instead of this void of confusing non-information.

Please, someone tell me that this has happened to them and that it will eventually work for me.

United KingdomVisa4UK site is down, I guess??

I posted this over in UK Yankee but I've gotten no bites, so I'm posting it here too.

I started my online application (January 30, 2014) from the US for my Settlement--marriage visa for the UK using the https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ website. My fiance is a UK Citizen, and I am the US Citizen. I was able to complete my application (I had to log back in a few times throughout) and sign the declaration, but when I go to book my biometrics appointment I get an error message (see attachment):

Error
An error occurred while processing your request

This could have been caused by your session timing out. If you have been logged out, please login again.

I'm starting to worry quite a bit because it seems that the site is down, which I'm aware is a common occurrence, but what irritates me is the error message I'm getting. It isn't helpful at all, and I don't know what to even make of it. I don't know what to do other than I guess wait for it to magically work? I've submitted a technical problem report with the UKBA site (http://www.ukba.home...ical-enquiries/) and made a report with Worldbridge. I highly doubt that I'll hear back from either of them, and I don't really know what else to do.

Is anyone else out there having issues? What has been the experience the rest of you all have had with the new Visa4UK system? Should I be very worried? I just need something to keep my hope up. Sigh...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding previous denial of visa

That's great to hear! And here I am thinking of all the money we'll need to get immigration help just to get my husband to-be into the US. It's such a nightmare when you think you've got all your i's dotted and t's crossed just to run into another "we should've known that" issue. You guys are really great because the only way anyone seems to be sure of anything is to try and try again. Broke my heart yesterday to hear Tom breakdown in tears when we found out his ESTA would likely not be approved. It really tests your faith in humanity sometimes. Taking a deep breath and resetting--again.

Could someone verify what the difference is between the I-130 and the CR-1?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion regarding previous denial of visa

Hi there!

I'm in a really similar boat, except with a different country--the UK. I'm just starting out in the process, but our intentions are to get married in the UK and file the I-130 for Tom to join me back in America. Tom was denied a tourist visa (per 214, no significant ties to UK) to the US and I'm wondering if that would bear any significant weight on the I-130 decision. Everything I come across says otherwise, but after being through the wringer once you're suspicious about everything that has to do with US immigration.

Best of luck and keep us updated. I'll be following. :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdenied fiance visa

It sounds like your best option is going to be applying for a fiancee visa to get married in the UK since that information is based off of you. You'll need to file the VAF4a form (instructions found here: http://www.ukba.home...-cp/apply-visa/ ). But you'll still have to wait the year (til next Sept) before you can file for the CR-1 to bring him to the US. http://talk.uk-yanke....php?board=17.0 is also a good website if you're looking for suggestions regarding the UK process.
