Has anybody heard of using a POA to speed up process? Is this pie in the sky thinking?
thx Rob

Uh,using it in what way? To do what? How would it speed anything up?

The POA (limited) simply to sign her name-as per her instructions and intentions. If possible, a POA is one document which gives the authority to sign as intended without the need to go back and forth with any other forms.

A Power of Attorney only allows someone to represent you in a special status. The timing is not influenced by the POA. Are you applying for K-1, K-3, or something else?

K-1 but a limited POA would permit me to sign each necessary form on her behalf. If it is permitted it is fairly straightforward and efficient. thx again, Rob

MANY THANKS TO ALL AND ALL THE GOOD WISHES!

A favor if you please--- what sort of items should two Russian ladies plan to bring with them for this magnificent journey?
Any ideas & or pointers. How about weight limits to bring into USA?

Any experience with JFK POE for time and or issues to beware of?

And yet another, how about Dasha's personal artwork--- how best to authenticate and verify the portfolio to be hers?

Any thoughts or comments and guidance are greatly appreciated. Thx again to all the kindness- Rob soon to be family of three from
Fabulous Frederick!

Iva and daughter-Dasha (17 y.o.) traveled to Moscow on 19 August. Medical appointment for 20 August. First visit for Dasha to Moscow - visited Moscow Zoo, art gallery & Red Area (Square). Interview appointment early 22 August. This went very well with the gentleman consulate, less stern than female by impression from ladies. Typical questions without major issues. Our reunion is soon, not soon enough but I will collect my lovely lady with daughter at JFK, fingers crossed, 25 September for casual return to Maryland by way of Philadelphia overnight and several days at the shore. (O.C., Md.)

Good luck to all, thanks for the moral support and the good life begins anew! Success be your partner, Rob

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Help re: signatures

You MUST get original signatures from your Russian fiance on her G-325a forms. Email her the link to the form, if you want and she can fill in the information and add her signature to ALL 4 pages of the form (they all look the same). Then get her to send it back to you. You can also send her via email a standard letter for the intent to marry and then she can sign that as well and then it also in the post to you. If you have time to fill in everything for her on the G-325a forms then you can do this and send them to her snail mail and she signs and sends them back. But they mUST be signed by her. Sorry.

thanks for help --I understand-- play by the rules!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUse of POA- Power of Attorney

abettorbob,

To start the K-1, you need the Beneficiary's G-325A and a couple passport photos. At Interview time months later, she needs your I-134, Letter from Employer, Bank statement, Birth Certificate, Divorce decree, and evidence of an ongoing relationship. She needs more from you than you need from her. I believe Power of Attorney is a waste of energy.

The K-1 Visa process requires that you and the beneficiary must PROVE that your relationship is true and has all the intentions of marriage once in the US to the Consul Officer. The CO is the judge and jury. He alone can make or destroy your case. I suggest you get some letters in the mail and start compiling some proof that 1) you have met and 2) that there is a solid ongoing relationship happening. Otherwise, you and the beneficiary could become a training session for other CO's as to how to interrogate a candidate with suspect evidence.

I understand and thank you for input. We have met twice, once Moscow for a week and over New Years for a week in her apartment in Saratov. I see your point about POA as a removed type relationship. Are you telling me our 800 plus e-mails are not evidence? Plus photos together Plus travel itineraries and receipts? Limited phone calls due to language but her daughter has been very helpful, notes back & forth on computer and my small translating computer got us through Moscow quite well.--- one word at a time. thx again, Rob

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUse of POA- Power of Attorney

POA = RFE.

The answer is No.

You have never mailed anything to her before?

no I have not mailed anything yet. 2 in person visits email and a couple phone calls. Mail to Russia seems tricky at the very least. thanks for input, Rob

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUse of POA- Power of Attorney

Would it be possible to have a POA for my fiance and be permitted to sign documents as such? any thoughts?
To save time with mail. by the way- how long does mail generally take from Washington DC to Saratov Russia or Russia in general? thx

many thx, Rob

I believe a Power of Attorney is a bit extreme. At least check with your post office and see how many days are required to send a package International express mail to her city in Russia. And ask her how she will send packages the fastest from her city to you. After all, you are not sending different forms every week!

She doesn't have that many documents to sign. With initial I-129F submission, she'd sign all 4 copies of G-325A and Letter of intent. Months later and after approval by USCIS, when she receives packet #3 from Consulate, she'd have to sign DS-230 pt 1, DS-2001 and return them to the Consulate in Russia. She does not sign anything other forms (DS-156K, DS-156, FS-257a) until she is at the interview in front of a Consulate Officer.

Thanks for your comments-- I see your point, but a limited POA is fairly easy if it is permitted. thx again Rob

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-2 and necessary forms (G-325A)

You need to explain the situation more fully. Is the child going to accompany your fiancee? Is the child going to follow within a year and need to apply for their own green card subsequent to your marriage? The questions can change the answers.

The daughter will accompany my fiance at the same time, so all events are to be simultaneous. thx, Rob

If you are speaking of the initial petition submission (I-129F)? Then the answer is NO.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-2 and G-325

you do not need to include a G-325a for the daughter with the I-129f. at this stage, just list the name in the petition.

Super, thanks so much. I did not see any mention of needing but I am hopeful of minimizing ROE or any other delays.

Have you seen any applications with zero (0) snafus? Do you have any idea what a best case timeline scenario could be?
(and of course for me- the consulate in Moscow)

thx again, Rob

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED!!

Yohana and I had our consulate interview in Caracas Venezuela on Feb. 28 2007. I took a week of vacation from work so I could be with her for this process and I think it really helped us. The consulate had me leave the interview so she could ask Yohana questions about our relationship. After about 15 minutes she then had Yohana sit down and asked me questions for about 5 minutes alone. She then called us both together and said I think everything is in order here and I wish you both the best of luck in the United States, you are approved!!!!!.. Yohana was in shock for quite awhile afterwards.. it has been a long process.. 2 days later on March 02, Yohana received her visa from the embassy. I want to thank everyone for all the posts that we read and received information from, it was a tremendous help.. We will keep posting as we go through the AOS process next. Thanks all!

good for you!! may good luck follow you together forever.
