K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresforseen address for my fiance

Use Mama's address.

thanks...

I'd use your mom's address initially.

Every piece of evidence after you rent an apartment should reflect the new address. Be sure he has it as soon as you get it though and that both of you are on the same page.

I had the same issue (kind of) with mine. I filed the k1 from a friends house where I was living, moved to a new house two weeks before she got here. Everything from that point that she and I used had the new address.

Filed AOS from the same address and there were no problems.

Thanks so much for your help.

Ok...so, question...
I-129F it asks the address where my fiance will live when he gets to the US. My plan is to rent an apartment before he gets here, which will be ours after we are married. (I currently live with my mom~I'm only 21...but I am in the process of saving and setting up an apartment...but don't yet have it.) He will stay in the apartment and I will stay with my mom until we get married. (We don't plan on waiting too long to get married but maybe like 2 weeks or something)...So, my question is...is it a bad idea to answer that question with the truth...how i am going to rent an apartment for us (for him until we get married)...I planned on writing that i didn't have the exact address yet but we will rent an apartment in my town....blah blah blah...i basically was going to explain what i just explained to you guys. or is it better to give an exact address (my parent's address) albeit no exactly the whole truth...i'd love to hear your opinions on this one. thanks!

Well, if you don't have the apartments address as of yet and you are getting ready to send off the petition, I would say you would need to use your parents address, because technically the apartment does not exist yet. right? I think USCIS is looking for an exact address on the petition. Others may have different opinions on this, this is just my opinion.

~Stacey

You are probably 100% right...I will use my mom's address...thanks...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresbackground checks...in Latin America....
My fiance is from Managua, Nicaragua...BUT...we met in El Salvador. He was staying there for a year and i went on a six week mission trip and that is how we met. BUT somewhere i heard that he has to get a police record (or a paper stating that he is clean and doesn't have a record) from every place that he has lived. He lived in El Salvador for a year...but it is kind of complicated. He would leave out of El Salvador and re-enter ever 3 months or so to renew the visa...so, he didn't technically "live" there...but he really did. And my question is...is it true that he will have to get a police record from El Salvador, too?! This can be slightly complicated because he is living back in Nicaragua and if anyone has dealt with Latin American government agencies then you know everything is complicated down there. So, can somebody tell me something about all of this?!
Other question...
We met in 2005 in El Salvador. In the Summer of 2006, I went and stayed a month in Nicaragua with him. I have our first and only picture together from 2005. But i have a lot of pictures from my 2006 visit. Do you think with me explaining our story of how me met in 2005 (and the picture) and how i went back to visit (and the zillion pictures of us together)...that they will believe that me actually have met in person?! I have passport visas and an itinerary from the 2006 trip and the pictures...but that is about it. Do you think that it will be good enough?
P.S-on the 2006 pictures the date is wrong...it was taken on a digital and the date says June 15, 2007...but one of the pictures i have taken on a disposable camera and the date on the back of that picture says 2006...do you think that if i circle the date on the back of the picture taken by the disposable camera that they will believe me that it was actually 2006??it is the same picture...one says 2007 and is printed from the computer...and the other was a hard copy printed at WalMart with 2006 on the back... the pictures from the digital are just printed off of the computer...but i have some hard copies of other pictures taken with the disposable. Did i thoroughly confuse you all?! if so, i am sorry...but what do you guys think?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo, He only put the address of his employers not their names...WHAT DO I DO???

Relax! You dont need their names, just the name of the company and the address.

No but the problem is is that he didn't put the name of the company!!! that is a problem, right?!

The form asks for name and address. If he hasn't written the employer's names - companies or individuals, according to his employment history - then do fill the missing info in.

Thanks so much. i will surely fix it. i just needed some reassurance that that was ok to do. thanks.

So, Fran mailed me the papers today. I now see that he only put the addresses of his employers and not their names. Can i write that in for him? or should i put in on a second paper (4 copies) explaining that he speaks Spanish and didn't understand that he needed to write their names also? Will they freak out if they see my hand writing added to his???? PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME...I'M GOING CRAZY...i dont have another month to mail him the G-325A and wait for it to get back to me. thanks...alicia

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI just got the papers from my fiance...QUESTION...

I believe the only 2 Service Centers processing K-1's are California and Vermont. I think, hopefully someone can back me up. Anyone?

They're processing I-129fs, to be more accurate. Those petitions filed with TSC or NSC are transferred to CSC. But you have to file according to the instructions on I-129f nonetheless.

oh makes sense...has Texas dropped out of the immigration business or something?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI just got the papers from my fiance...QUESTION...

He didn't fill in City and Country of birth...should i fill it in for him... (i could never duplicate his handwriting)...i read on the instructions that it is not necessary to repeat this information cuz it is already in the I-129F main application. What should i do? leave it blank...write it in my handwriting?? I dont know what to do...AND...the address and names of the companies are in Spanish...do i need a translation for this? i think it is pretty straightforward...i mean...it is going to Texas...shouldn't someone in that office understand names of companies or addresses or job posisitions written in Spanish?!!! and if i do need a translator...has anyone had to get translations?! and how do you certify that they are certified? i mean i could translate the documents but i am not so sure they would accept me as "certified"....
thanks ahead of time for your help...i will mail off our application Monday! yay! alicia

Your case will be transferred to California service center.

PS. I used good old USPS with a confirmation signature. I was talked out of express since it was a Friday and the lady said it would be there by Monday. She smiled and said, "USCIS doesn't sign for mail on Saturdays" She then told me that many others have handed her their Special Package to bring their loved ones home :) :) :)

Hi guys! Well, I finally got everything ready, double-checked, and mailed off(I-129 original submission). So, I went to UPS and i asked him if he could overnight my application and get me a return-receipt thing...Well, he said we dont mail to PO Boxes...he said that I would have to go through the Post Office but that he could do it from the UPS store...So, I asked him if he had express + return receipt...he said yes but the Post Office is not guaranteeing any express items...SOO...that means I paid $31 for my package to arrive there on Friday (today is Tuesday)...how did you guys mail yours to arrive the next day???? cuz it didn't work for me.
Sidenote: thanks to everyone who has posted questions/answers on VisaJourney...you don't know it but you have been a huge support system for me. I read and take your advice. Even if you are giving it to someone else...it has helped me. thanks! i am officially starting my visajourney!! pray for us!!! alicia and fran

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat's up with the California Service Center?

"Do you feel lucky? Well do ya?"

What's up with CSC?? They're morons!!

Don't worry you'll probably get approved before me and the other "forgotten bastards of March" lol

Jeez We had been waiting 5 months already when you submitted yours!! omg this is nuts!!

I feel like I'm in "One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest" dealing with USCIS!!! I was sane but they're driving me nuts!

No, at this point, I don't feel lucky - I am not expecting anything this soon, I'm just wondering. The only thing that could throw me is that I was born in Guatemala to US parents, so I hope I did that element right. I have heard about the forgotten March applicants... I wish I could say something encouraging, but not tonight, not in this mood. Best I can say is that I (and many others) are praying daily for all the people at the CSC to go through these visas as quickly as possible. Best wishes to you!

I'm praying to that end!! b/c my case will be transferred to CSC...I am praying for the right people to look at my case and for it to pass through smoothly...My whole family is praying, too...So, while I'm praying for our case...I'll pray for you guys' cases...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow's this for a mess??

By the way...I'm sorry. I hope I didnt offend anyone by saying... "most people here who are applying for a fiance visa (K1) do so with only a short visit or two to the fiancee's country. In fact, I'll bet most havent spent more than a few weeks actual time with their fiancee."

It didnt occur to me until I reread it that it might offend. I didnt mean to undermind anyone who has only actually met their fiancee a few times. I for one know how quickly you can fall in love when the ingredients are perfect. I was simply trying to backup my case that she isn't that type of person. Alibaba and those like him erk me when they doubt someone who is close to my heart. I dont know about you guys but its sometimes hard hearing people say "Oooohh" when you explain your relationship. Anyway, cheers all!

Gotta find out what that form is that should be filed to say I had a previous case at one time. Off to investigate.

Yeah, that really gets me...or you feel like you are trying to fill in the blank spots for them cuz they are just kinda staring at you as you explain your "love story"...and it gets to me when someone doubts a love that we know is so real...and the whole "he's just trying to get to the United States" thing really gets me, too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSPS seems to work for overnight delivery of RFE

From USPS:

Your item was delivered at 9:40 am on October 07, 2006 in LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA 92607. Waiver of signature was exercised at time of delivery.

Still no confirmation of receipt by USCIS though

Bill

PS I had RFE marked all over the thing, so hopefully that will help :)

Oh my gosh...So, I guess I'm the idiot who didn't know to do the waiver of signature...b/c they attempted to deliver mine Friday...my original submission....and nobody was there to sign for it...so they will attempt again...and now with Monday being a holiday...I don't think it will get there till Tuesday. Do you think that someone will go and sign for it or will they send it back to me in 5 days? has anyone else made this mistake before?

Since overnight mail arrives after the time CSC picks up mail, it will be signed for the next day. Very common. Now whether they pick up mail on Saturdays or federal holidays I don't know. BUT they will have it by Tuesday morning when they go in to pick up mail at the latest.

Thanks...you are putting my little heart at ease...Wow...I appreciate you guys who have "been there and done that" with this whole process. Thanks again!!
And Tuscon Bill...I'm happy that your RFE got there speedily...I'm sorry for jumping in your thread with all of my anxieties!!  Please forgive!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A place of residence if deceased and Russia address format

Ok, I have three questions.

  • We're filling out G-325A. My fiance's mother has passed away a number of years ago; what should she put for her mother's "City and Country of Residence"?
  • The postal address scheme in Russia is somewhat different from that in US. If anyone is familiar with it, what should we put for her home & work addresses so that the application doesn't get rejected and also when someone needs to send my fiance mail, it actually gets to her?
  • The G-325A application has 4 identical pages. What gives? What do we do with them?
Thanks!

To answer your 2nd question...my mother died when i was 6 months old. I filled out all of the information about her...and under city and country of residence...i put DECEASED. i dont know, but i think that is the correct response...BUT...i just mailed mine...so, that is what i did.
