Except for all those times they've crushed the Avalanche and won cups :P

11 stanley cups vs. 2......

Haha The Avalanche have a better winning percentage against the Wings in the playoffs than vice versa :)

Let's not also paint the Wings out to be the best franchise ever, in the 80s they were known as the 'Dead Wings' and drew fewer crowds than the Grand Rapids Griffins :)

Poor Varba! Its actually kinda funny picturing him in a ski mask to be perfectly honest...

To be completely random, Bill and I took his sister to an Avalanche game on Monday for her birthday and it was basically awesome. We had third row seats across from the Avs bench by the penalty box. I have been to a million hockey games but that was the coolest experience by far! I kept having interesting exchanges with Wolski  he kept looking over at us just before face offs, which I found far more amusing than It should have been. Then in the third he shot the puck really hard at the glass in front of me and I screamed and jumped (it was pretty startling!) and then he looked at me and started laughing. Then Stasny started laughing too. Totally hilarious and fun! Bring that close to the action was awesome.

Just thought I'd share :P

Lol Yep I'm jealous of your experiences being able to go to their games :) I've got stupid Detroit as my only option and I can't stand going to the city let alone the dump they play in hahaha.

Lol My neighbor gave me the stink eye as I was clearing my car off this morning to go to work while he was snow-blowing his snow. It was still snowing this morning around here so I wasn't about to wake up before work to shovel only to have to do it again after I get home from work :) He's made comments before that "I have to do my part" so maybe I'll write my name in his snow while I'm working on it tonight Lol.

I've always wondered why people outside of the westcoast say that. We get a major earthquake once or twice per century, meanwhile, hurricanes and blizzards slam the east coast every single year, sometimes multiple times. The midwest gets tornados and floods seems like each year. I'll take my bi-centenial earthquake anytime :P

Haha The part of California that scares me is how it somehow finds a way to burst into flames for a few months out of every year because some idiot kid thought it'd be cool to light a firework or something in the middle of a field lol :)

so I have my heart set on this car I found online.. it is a 1997 Nissan 200sx... from what i have been reading it is a good little dependable car... they want 2000 bucks for it and it has just over 100,000 miles on it... I am hoping they still have it...

the only problem is, that it is a 2 door and I really wanted a 4 door because it is easier for loading groceries and laundry...

Good luck getting it!!!

This reminds me a lot of when my wife and I bought our house at the end of 2008, it was a foreclosure too. Shopping for everything was actually not too bad, only time in my life I didn't dread shopping. Something about picking out all new appliances, furniture, paint, carpet, tile, etc..., it's just kinda envigorating. Good luck to you all and enjoy it :)

Good morning all - thanks for the lovely coffee Carla!

Minnew - I have never heard an oil rig worker called a 'rigger' - so that's interesting, maybe it's one of those regional Canadian things?? I have heard 'roughnecks' - rig workers etc etc - but never riggers!

You lost people need to get a grip. That is all :hehe:

She's not the most popular on the show though.

I mean when her last album came out everyone made fun of it. Remember the video?? It was so funny, and then her on Miss Universe... all pathetic attempts to stay on top.

I think people love to watch her though because she's a bit of a train wreck. Her and Spencer Pratt are both super annoying... people love to hate them and that's what keeps them in the tabloids.

Now with her saying she loves plastic surgery, I mean look at us, we're talking about it. That's all she needs to keep the fire burning.

Oh and I love the hills. I agree it's totally stupid but I love it... no I don't think it's real, but I do find it funny.

Haha Exactly, seems they'll do anything to stay relatively famous. With that Hills show getting spanked by the Jersey Shore kids hopefully this will be the last thing that anyone cares about. Pretty soon she'll be on TMZ taking pictures of movie stars or something for money lol

As for the hills, can't say I've ever seen an episode but I'm guessing a 28 year old dude isn't their demo haha

Lol Worst part about her getting all that surgery is it just so happens to coincide with the release of her album. She actually said her album is timeless and can compare favorably to Thriller so I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the last few ways she could try to stay relatively famous. She's not even recognizable to what she used to look like so if that album bombs she's completely screwed lol.

about the soda thing I heard somewhere that if you are going to drink soda you should just drink regular pop not the diet stuff... of course you drink it in moderation...

my hubby has basically given up soda , he will have it when we go out to eat on the weekends but that is it... I don't buy it for the house anymore.. at home he usally drinks milk with ovaltine and for work I bought these little packets of crystal light.. he is not big on drinking plain water...

now if I could just get him to give up energy drinks :P he has one a day still but I can't take everything away at once

Haha I had a huge pop addiction growing up, would have at least 3-4 glasses at a restaurant and would work on a two-liter if it was available in the fridge at home. When I first stopped I had headaches all day, didn't feel right, was just horrible withdrawals.

Since I do everything in steps I was then drinking Gatorade for a while but then I noticed that still has quite a bit of empty calories in it so I moved on to Propel water. I did that for a while, then moved onto the packets, and now I'm strictly on water. It took a huge amount of time for me (years) but I'm sure if I could do it your hubby certainly could haha

Now granted the only Red Bull or energy drinks I would ever have would be mixed with Jagermeister though lol

I think this is great advice, and this is how I am trying to approach my weight loss. I have a scale but I am not going to step on it more than once a month. One thing I am really having a lot of success with this time around is not looking at the calories I burn when I exercise ... I'm instead just pushing myself as hard as I can everytime I exercise and then I walk away. I keep a mental note of how long I went for at what resistance and everything and make a goal to do better the next time around. I found that when I was telling myself, "I need to burn this many calories", I would burn exactly that many calories and never do better than that. This time I am just going and I'm honestly making progress everyday! It's actually really exciting, and instead of dreading exercising I'm actually looking forward to it. I officially sound like a wanker, but I don't care, haha. I've learned from several failed attempts that micro-managing my weight loss is not the way for me :)

That's actually great advice too! I noticed before I did a complete overhaul of my training that I'd end up doing the bare minimum to make myself feel good for that workout and that was it. Now I record all my numbers (weight, reps, sets, etc) and then the next week when I do them again I try to do no worse than a few more reps per exercise. I don't look back other than to the last week to push myself harder and it's really cool to see the strength/endurance that's gained over a month of doing that.

Seriously awesome advice :)

I mostly do running on the spot and aerobic step.
Running on the spot for 30 minutes is a bit more of a workout that I'd think.

I'll look into that program you're doing and see if I can afford anything to start it.

I think some of the videos can be viewed on youtube, just look up the cardio x or plyo x and see what you think :) No weights involved in either (other workouts during the week do require weights/bands) but you will surely burn some major calories :)

It's hard not to look at a scale when the Wii Fit weighs me everyday, haha.
The scale in this house is really fickle so I don't use it.

I exercise for like 50 minutes a day and burn around 340 calories.
I'm not sure if that's hardly enough or what, though the Spark website says it seems right for my weightloss goals.

It was more an emotions thing that didn't let me exercise yesterday, I need to learn to exercise when I feel crappy.

If you can afford some resistance bands and a yoga mat I'd highly recommend you look into the p90X program too :) If you're able to crank out 50 minutes a day that's right around how long most of the workouts take for it (except Yoga) and I GUARANTEE you'll see results with it :)

If not, what kinds of workouts does the Wii have you doing? While 340 calories isn't bad maybe you need something a little more challenging to peak your interest and keep you coming back for more without getting discouraged?

Egh, I fell off the wagon the last two days.
I hope I didn't really gain a whole lot. I didn't snack like crazy or eat like crazy, but something that happened just made me want to sit on my butt all day :dead:

I need to get my butt into gear again.

I really don't mean to come off like I know everything or anything like that, I've just noticed what's worked for me and am trying to help :) If I get annoying in my lil suggestions just let me know and I'll stop haha :)

I noticed that when I started making much smaller goals for myself than usual that I was able to push on much easier. For example, I'd promise myself I'd go an entire 30 days at first working out and eating right and absolutely would not look at a scale. I took pictures on day 1, did NOT look at them, then went the whole 30 days living "right" and took pictures at the end. Seriously I couldn't believe the amount of progress that showed up, was seriously amazing :)

If you get yourself focusing too much on the overall picture or keep checking for progress every day it's going to be really hard to keep up with it. Good luck to everyone!

Aww Autumnchik thats tough! Its really hard to make time for yourself when you are the primary person to care for things while your SO is pursuing school, etc. And when you do find time, you prefer to do something relaxing and for yourself! :( Maybe you can set just one day for you to ensure you do some work out and for now that would have to be enough! Good luck! I too am struggling to get my butt in the gym! :(

Just a suggestion, if you can afford it maybe you should look into getting some dumbbells/resistance bands for your house. When I had a gym membership I always went directly after work and tried to bust it out there but I've noticed after getting all the weights and stuff at home I have MUCH better workouts. There's something about being able to relax in your own environment and push yourself without having to worry about people looking at you or needing to talk about proper form that helped me a ton Lol. Good luck to everyone!

What I dont' get about food that is good for you is why can't they make it taste better. They have invented alcoholic drinks that give you the desired effect, but dont' taste like a cup full of petrol. Why can't they apply that same ingenuity towards culinary exploits? Come on, brussel sprouts are a form of torture.

Lol My wife cooks for me and it's soooo good, one of the biggest things I'm thankful for haha. Now the thing I don't understand is why healthy food costs so much more than the crappy food, really gets to me. Obviously the reasons are processing is cheaper and everything but there should be a tax on garbage food just like there is on smoking and stuff, or at the very least give credits to companies that produce "clean" foods. I hate spending $100 - $150 a week on groceries for just my wife and I a friggin week lol

Thanks for this, I was just looking at my percentages on Spark wondering what would be a good ratio.

:) I use fitday.com, probably the same thing, even shows a pie chart underneath all the food you entered that's breaks down everything you're having in a pie chart :)

I've always been on the skinnier side but I wanted to get ripped up a bit and then gain mass afterwards slowly without losing the definition and I've found this way of eating is really helping out with that. I feel full all day by eating 5 to 6 times and just really concentrate on keeping the protein that high (really takes some planning) and not taking in too many carbs. I can't believe with only two days of cardio every week for an hour at a time how much the fat just burns off when I workout hard the other days. Good luck :)

If you really want to lose weight and keep it off, I'd recommend not trying any quick fix diets. The only thing you really need to focus on is the total caloric intake for the day and then the ratios/percentages of protein to carbs to fat that you're taking in. Now granted saturated fat is the best thing to stay away from, but if you focus on getting the proper levels of the other three you will really turn your body into a fat-burning machine (of course when mixed with exercise).

The percentages that most experts agree on is 40% protein, 40% carbs, then 20% fat. If it's possible you will get awesome results by taking in 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat. I've noticed while updating my diet to these since June that I've lost body fat very quickly, lean muscle mass has increased greatly, and I've gotten a ton more energy throughout the day. I didn't have much weight to lose at all, I was more looking to tone up before then increasing my calories to bulk up a bit, but I still noticed results very quickly.

Following those percentages is also very easy to live on and feel satisfied when you're eating. It promotes more of a lifestyle change that can be sustained for along time rather then trying to have soup and very little else where it would be almost impossible to continue that for any legitimate period. Good luck!

I lost .2 lbs from yesterday, I know it's not much, but it's something.

I need to stop eating after dinner!

:) Congrats! I eat about 6-7 times a day and as long as I'm under the caloric total that I need to be under per day I will have a nice protein shake after dinner. You can find drinks with 20-30 grams of protein and only 15-20 grams of carbs which won't hurt ya if you've eaten clean all day :) Just an idea anyway Lol
