but I don't think that couple people reviews such huge numbers of cases.. getting thousands cases a day..

QUOTE (Wisedom come to @ Feb 4 2009, 02:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Of course it is. Bringin few H1B visas into the country by far is much more "important."

but K visas cost money too.. it's not free.

Hi guys! We are Sep filers too and still noothing sad.gif Reading all this topic, I can say that we are that people who DO care of our process, others people don't know or even don't imagine that there is a such site as a VJ. So, maybe some people who are out of this site get their approvals or maybe VT really is being in cold weather. I saw news too. Let's just hope, soon spring will come and we will get our NOA2 kicking.gif

I also found one statistic of Visa site that USCIS approved over 30,000 cases in 2008.. and over 1,100 cases stay without approvals. I am sure VT doesn't use to get such big amount of cases and work double. I mean they get cases and from Texas Service Center. TSC doesn't review K1/K3 anymore.. I guess February will be our month kicking.gif

seconds... minutes... hours.... days... weeks... months... and for some even years have gone by. For us... 3 and a half months. It's a long journey that we've traversed to come this far. Many obstacles that we've managed to hurdle over... and yet still many more to come. I'm happy... jubilant... and excited! But at the same time... sad because I couldn't hold her and hug her when she heard the good news. She's happy! I'm happy! I can hear it in the joyful sobs.

Anyways... I'm at work right now... and received notice that our K-1 petition was approved! YESS!!! Woo hoo!! The long wait is done, but the adventure now begins!

Hi everybody,

I wanted to share the great news with everybody, and thank you all for all your support through this process. I finally got the approval and now I am ready to move on with rest of the journey. I think we all need lots and lots of patience, and without VJ I think I would have been completely lost. Thank you VJ members, and for those of you that are waiting I am positive that the wait will not be too long. Just hang in there, as their is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have been encouraging Dora to learn to drive and get her license when she was still in Colombia and she kept saying "I have plenty of time" - now, maybe not so much time. good.gif

If a man from Los Angeles, CA meets a woman in Ukraine, how long is the wait for a K-1 visa?

Is there a U.S. Gov't site where I can find the (current) approximate processing time, or is it better to use some of the examples on this website as a guide?

One example on this site suggests that eight months from the initial filing to the time when both are living together in California is an approximate time line.

Please feel free to share some links or personal experience to answer my question. If more info is needed, please ask.

Thank you!

Where you or your fiancee live makes little if any difference for the petition. Kiev is pretty fast about doing interviews so that makes a difference. For good measure figure 6-8 months from the time you file the petition until she arrives here.

Agreed. If you check out time lines for others over the recent past, I would guess at 6 to 8 months.Good luck.

Yup...Also take in consideration the time for AP (if your case goes to AP), sometimes it takes 2 days, sometimes 2 months.

Actually the number does make sense...

Example: EAC [09] [139] [51267]

EAC - Vermont Service Center

09 - Represents the fiscal year. Fiscal year 2009 is from Oct 1st, 2008 through Sep 30th, 2009.

139 - Represents the Julian Day for the Fiscal year (USCIS fiscal year), remember, OCT 1st is the first day for that fiscal years, therefore 001 in a Julian Day format.

51267 - Represents the particular case number.

One correction: It's not a true Julian Day, it's a working day "Julian date".

just curious.

whistling.gif on time

Your friend does not need to wait for the embassy. The info packet is on there website and it is the same documents they send the fiance. My fiance did the medical, background and other documents before she even recieved a notice from the embassy.

I agree, you do NOT need to wait for the Embassy to notify you. Download the package from the website and have your fiancee' start filling them out. Also you can e-mail the Embassy and ask if your case is already in the system and if so, contact the "call-center" in Poland (number is on the Embassy's website) and schedule your fiancee's interview using your case number (should start with KEV-.....). The Embassy in Kiev updates their system with new applications only on Fridays, so if your petition is not there yet this week, wait until Monday to contact them via e-mail again.

Hope it helps and good luck.

Joe.

P.s.: I just looked at your timeline and you haven't received your NOA-2 yet...so, there's still a long way to go before you get to the steps I mentioned above.

I am by no means expert in the process, however my instincts says you MUST call the USCIS and inform them of the problem. I'd say that in the long run it DOES MATTER.

Hope this helps a little.
