Asia: East and PacificIf Delbros cannot contact my fiance via text or phone call, will they still deliver?
Based on some experiences posted here, it takes around 19 days and more before the visa will be delivered if the beneficiary is living in provinces especially if the place is really far from the city...Just please extend your patience...Months ago my friend got her visa after almost a month of waiting even if she lives at cebu city...If you want to make sure, just give the embassy a ring and tell them about the changes in her contact number... US Embassy and Consulate Discussionmanila embassy interview dates?

hi! does anybody know when will the new list of visa interview appointments be released? i have been waitng and waiting for so many years and i hope that this time my case number will be included in this list. thanks and God Bless!

I called the Manila Embassy this morning (Manila time) & was told that they don't have the new schedule posted yet and most likely will have them ready before end of this month. She said that people in line for interview will most likely get a November interview as October has been booked up. Try to call this number, (632) 528-6300 x 5184, the lady (I believe Lorraine) is very very nice & accommodating.

Karina

Thanks Karel!!! That was a relief hearing a news from them!!! hahahah!! yeah right I was also checking online and nothing!!! Neeway Hopefully and prayerfully they will post the interview dates soooonnnnn....not by the end of this month!!!!! I was expecting this week!!!:-(

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIs there any requirement on what to include in the letter of Intent to Marry?
We are going to submit our I-129F this Saturday ( Texas,USA time). As of now, my fiance said our packet is 100% complete. We didn't hire a lawyer. We did the compiling of the documents on our own. As I read some posts in the forum now, I was a little worried when I came across with some ideas presented regarding the content of the Letter of Intent to marry. From one of the replies to a post, a VJers said his lawyer told him that in their letter of intent to marry he should write who they are as a person, how was it when they met finally and provide the reason on why u decided to tie a knot and it should be at least 2-3 pages. As in our case we are more or less following the format provided in VJ which is only a single page. Will the length of the letter will matter? For some, this question might be irrelevant or illogical but for us it matters a lot. As much as possible we want our petition to be smooth sailing as possible. So, what can u advise guys??? Your brilliant idea will highly be appreciated!!! Please help us out.. Thank you in advance…

Godspeed!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMelindas Visa released by the Embassy!

Vj Family,

Well the best news I have heard in a long time came this morning here in Manila, Philippines. Melindas Visa was finally released by the US Embassy on Friday. We are hoping that it is delivered to day (Saturday).

Looks like we are coming home early next week...

Thanks to all of you who prayed for us and encouraged us in this process. We are still praying and hold up all of you who have this same dream. Hang in there, the day really does come when the waiting is finally over and you can start your lives together.

Thanks again, see you soon back here

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionreceived visa-- told not to open it ???

the confusion arises from 2 cultures trying to blend and understand the nuiances of language--- ruby has now --thru verbal extraction on my part-- that it is indee the plastic envelope, containing both items .
the passport and the brown envelop. when told not to open she follows directions. i forget how literal people of her culture are. they follow directions without question . very un-american haha. thanks for all the help

i attended the guidance and counseling seminar given by ST. Mary's Euphrasia in cebu city since I am from Cebu. I have to do it as it is one of the requirements for fiancees/spouses who will get a passport for the first time. It was clearly instructed there that the yellow envelope shouldnt be opened, otherwise you need to send it back to US Embassy in Manila to be resealed.

Some of the fiancees/spousals who were attending the pre-departure seminar has showed us the package they received from the embassy. They received only 1 big plastic envelope that contains the brown/yellow envelope which is labeled "do not open" and the passport which is outside the brown envelope (but of the same plastic envelope). We were also cautioned to check if the brown/yellow envelope has a signature and a US embassy seal at the lower portion in one of its side. If there is none it should be mailed back to the US Embassy in Manila. It has to be checked because it happened before that there was no signature and US embassy seal and the fiancee/spouse was denied of the entry at POE.

The visa is inside the passport. Just flip the pages...If she attended already the guidance and counseling seminar prior to having the visa, all she has to do is to go to the CFO office, bring the CFO certificate and the receipt given to her after attending the seminar and have the CFO stamp be affixed. However, if she wasnt able to attend the seminar, she can go to either Manila or Cebu St. Mary's Euphrasia office since there are only two designated offices to conduct the seminar in the Philippines.

Just a little comment...Im sorry but I beg to disagree when you say " i forget how literal people of her culture are. they follow directions without question . very un-american haha". Im a Filipina who grew up in the province,Cebu, but I never absorbed things as what is told..I always ask clarifications either by calling the designated office or agency or search for further info..... Just a comment by the way....an insight.... :D :D

(F) Marie (F)

Your fiancee is just being very cautious which is NICE and COMMENDABLE since she is not sure of on what to do. Otherwise, if she will open the wrong envelope then it might only delay the time of you being together..... :)

Congratz for having the visa!!! Best wishes!!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 question
Hello All,

I have two kids from previous marriages and they live full-time with their mom's and I have them weekends, holidays, summer, etc.In my view that makes me "Partially Dependent" for their support.
On question #8 it asks the following question:

8.That the following persons are dependent upon me for support: (Place an "x" in the appropriate column to indicate whether the person named is wholly or partially dependent upon you for support.)
Name of Person Wholly Dependent Partially Dependent Age Relationship to Me

The online form only lets you choose the "Wholly Dependent" options. Can someone give me your view and how you answered this question?

Thanks fellow VJ'ers,

Bryan

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS Forms

About my DS-156, had this printed for thrice. When my visa counselor checked it she said need to change it into TO BE WITH MY FIANCE AND MARRY HIM. She let me print another DS forms without barcode...coz i had barcode in my previous DS 156. I asked her why??? for K1 is without a barcode. So i have learned that DS FORMS in K1 application need not to have barcode.

It is advisable that DS 156 should be filled out online so that it will have a BARCODE... DS 156K & DS 157 can be filled out manually but it has to be done neatly & legibly...In my case, I will do it online so I will just print them out...Less hussle & neat...

You can check these links for the interview experience of some Filipinas @ US Manila embassy which they state that DS 156 should have barcode...(the Filipina in the first link had her interview February 1, 2007)

hello everyone,

this is my first time to post in this thread...been visiting here frequently though...There maybe some posts in the past pertaining to this query but this is kinda urgent ...

my friend will have her interview for CR1 this coming March 13 and she would like to know what are the things that she needs to bring with her from both the petitioner and the beneficiary for the interview...We just know her schedule 3 nights ago & she is freakin' worried right now coz she neither receive a pre-interview notice nor the packet, not ready with her documents & dont even know what are the forms that she needs to fill up , if there's any...She is really clueless that she will be included in the March schedule coz when they called the embassy last week they said their papers have not arrived yet. They hired a lawyer but not functioning well ( difficult to contact right now plus lots of alibis)... We will appreciate so much any help from you guys here.... THANKS in advance...

Hi, Sillygirl!

I just wanna ask something from you...I read your interview and medical examination tips and I find them very helpful especially to me and to those who are just to go through to the process..I even have a hard copy of them..Thanks for posting them...

I read from some posts here that there are embassies which don't allow the petitioner to be there together with the beneficiary during the interview...Now, if I got it right your fiance is with you during the interview...So, does it mean that the fiancee/fiances petitioners are allowed to be present with the benificiary fiancee/fiance at USE during interview??? Does it apply to all cases or to some cases only???

Thank you & Godbless you always and your beloved.... (F)

I have found that odd about the hotels in the Philippines... NO IRONS ALLOWED! LOL! Of course when I was there, we just took my fiancee's iron from her place. LOL! We're rebels... Do yourselves a favor... TAKE A TRAVEL IRON if you arer not staying at the Best Western! Besides it's not breaking the law, just a house rule. (SMILE)

Cheers!!!

Sheriff,

Nice idea...sometimes it adds to the thrill, the idea of being caught if incase someone will see the iron brought by you....

NOTE: By the by, MarieandBryan sent their check! Please be sure to have PW add them to the list. LOL!

Bryan & I are happy to find this site, least we know there are a lot of people who are of the same situation with us...Being away from our beloved is very frustrating...the waiting SUCKS but the prize is WORTHY!!!

Sheriff & the rest of you here, do u have any idea on how many days we will receive the NOA1 after the check is being encashed? Just an approximation... When they say they received NOA1 notice by email, does it mean it was sent to the email address of the Petitioner? Maybe, this was asked before and I just dont see it...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionApproved Approved
Hello all,

My beautiful Marie had her interview today and we were approved!!!! She said the interview went very well and everyone was very nice. The Consul didn't look at any of the pitures, emails, letters, etc. The only thing he looked at was the Affidavit of support & my 2006 Tax return, her Birth Certificate, her NBI & Cenomar. They only ask Marie a few questions:

1- How did we met? When was the last time she saw me?
2- Where did she go to college?
3- What is the status of her brothers US work visa? They also checked his status in the computer.
4- How old are you and how old is your fiancee?

After that Marie asked is she approved and Consul looked at her, smiled and said of course you are.
The waiting is over and it has been worth the wait. She will be here on May 10th. I can't wait to start my life you baby.

PhilippinesUSC Bicycle Announcement

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR UNITED STATES CITIZEN'S

If you are engaged and planning on marrying a Filipina, please sell, giveaway, or destroy all bicycles before she arrives, even if she can't ride one. Organizations are working diligently to get this message posted on the Department of State website as well as the Manila Embassy Website. A manhunt has started for several missing Filipinas that are 4'9" - 5'6", 100 - 125lbs, black hair, and brown eyes. All last seen riding bicycles fleeing from the bonds of matrimony, if you have any information on these rideaway brides, please contact your local authorities or ICE immediately.

hubby said he is safe coz i don't know how to ride a bicycle..LOL.. if ill runaway the only thing i can do is the "marathon" or "walkathon"..hahaha..easier to chase...

seriously, it is so sad that it ends up putting an announcement like this... :(

PhilippinesFlights, Expenses, Hotel, in Manila related to interview
i am also from cebu and i would like to share to you my thoughts about your querry..

if you plan to let her travel in the US alone, then it is the best time for her to start being on trip alone..perhaps, if it helps her to have company, one is enough..in this way you will save money for air fare and other expenses in Manila...

san carlos mansion hotel has a rates 850, 950, 1100 & 1350 pesos. 1100 pesos has already a kitchen & living room..it is clean, nice and an affordable place to stay.. tropical hotel, palm plaza hotel can also be a pick..

for her Cebu-Manila flight, book her 2 or 3 weeks in advance to get the lowest possible airfare.. Cebu Pacific has always the lowest fare BUT i will also suggest to check PAL's promo/discount fare coz there are times when they have fare around PHP 1600-1900.. i love centenial II over the domestic airport..hehhehe..

for you being there in the interview is a good moral support but NOT a must....a lot of girls here, including myself, was approved without their fiance's presence...in our case, we initially agreed that my fiance (husband now) will be there during my interview but we later on agreed to save the money for future use..so, i was in my medical and interview alone...just normal to be very nervous and to have a lot of apprehensions or a lot of what if's...but if your documents are complete and well-organized it will turn out easy...hehee

for my ticket in going here, my fiance bought it the day after my interview (consul said we're approved)...got my visa after 4 working days from my interview.. just a good timing coz my flight was 9 working days after my interview...he booked me thru www.travelph.com for $746 (MNL-SFO)...i was with EVA airways....i think the PHP 1620 Filipino travel tax was already included in the payment since they never asked me to pay for it...i only paid the PHp750 terminal fee...

hope this helps...Godbless!
