US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon consulate question...

haha I just told her to do that in the other thread she posted in the k-1 section. I guess she didn't like my answer :)

I didn't see your answer until now. I thought I'd get a better response if I posted in the appropriate section.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon consulate question...
For anyone who's been through the American Embassy in London, how long did it take you from the time you sent the form off to get an interview date? Please share your experiences, if you can.

We sent our form away last Wednesday and already bought plane tickets for June 1st. Is it possible everything will be ready by then? (I'm starting to feel doubtful.)

Congratulations!!! Your experiences have given both of us hope! We were expecting so much more hassle than that, even though we have nothing to hide. You must be overjoyed.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow do you email the Embassy? (London)
On this forum and others, people have mentioned that they've emailed the Embassy if things happened to be taking longer than expected.

However, I've looked on the official website and I can't see any email addresses whatsoever! (We're on the K-1 visa track.)

So... how do you email the embassy if you have a question, at least to avoid making the extortionate phone calls?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow do you know if Packet 3 even got there?
Being my naturally paranoid self, would I know by now if my fiance's Packet 3 never got to the London Embassy? (We sent off everything on the 15th of March).

We sent the Packet 3 to:

Immigrant Visa Branch
United States Embassy
5 Upper Grosvenor Street
London W1A 2JB

and put a return address on it too.

Is that the right address?

Englishsammy, that's cool we have the same wedding date! I'll keep emailing them regularly.

MrsDarby, thanks so much! Your timeframe was almost exactly 2 months before ours, and you did just fine. :) What a relief!

You have plenty of time our wedding was the 2nd July and at this time last year i was in the same position as you and I had my interview on the 6th May so please do not panic i feel better knowing that your wedding is not until the end of JULY!!!!! It will be a breaze trust me I had 2 weeks notice about my interview and I was in a panic this time last year waiting to hear about it.
Crazy Brit

That's sooo good to hear. :) Thanks for the reassuring words, Crazy Brit. We're both feeling much better after hearing that.

I also got those emails until march 10th. Then I got one telling me my Interview was March 20th!. When I sent my paperwork off I requested an interview during the week starting the 20th. My sneaking suspicion is they do look at what they get and take notice of any requests for early dates. Especially if you got everything needed from the Packet 3 checklist!

Thanks Keigwyn, that's definitely reassuring! By the way, congratulations!

I got the same thing last year but with me it really did take that long but that was due to them right at the time i sent my papers back they changed the medical procedure and it was a total mess as the nuffield centres were not set up and ready and you could not get medicals sorted i had to go to Edinburgh for my medical i lived near Coventry
dont despair when is your wedding date booked for?
Crazy Brit

Crazy Brit, what a nightmare! I'm glad everything worked out in the end though! :star:

My wedding is booked for 29th of July. Still a while off yet, but you never know.

I didnt find your timeline - so sorry if you mentioned it somewhere :(

I'll post my timeline as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks for all your responses. I'm finally relaxing slightly. I emailed them back thanking them for their prompt reply. Hope they keep in contact with me if I keep in regular contact with them. Fingers crossed.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVery bad news for us
I emailed the London Embassy (LondonConsular@state.gov) regarding a general timeframe to when I should get my interview date. We were both praying it was before June 1st, or at least July 29th, which is when our actual wedding is. We got a very disheartening response. :( Here's what it said:

We have no record of having received the forms to which you refer. However
there is a delay of 6 - 8 weeks between the date the forms are received by
the Embassy and the date in which they are processed and entered on to our
system. As soon as the Immigrant Visa Unit has received the forms and
completed any additional processing on your application you can anticipate
receiving an appointment date for an interview within 8 weeks.

We sent all the forms off on the 15th of March. I've read other people's experiences and it seems as though it took them about 2 and a half months to complete the whole process from sending off the 3rd packet and the interview date, which gave me hope -- but this news has devastated us.

Please someone tell me, surely it's not that long a wait. Please. :crying: Our wedding is already arranged. His family has bought plane tickets to be there. Is there anything we can do?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHotels near the Medical Centre
Hi everyone, my fiance's medical is scheduled for 21st April and we need to arrange tickets and accomodation. Only thing is, we have no clue where to stay.

Any suggestions???

Thanks again beaner! We'll look into getting them done for free definitely.

One more thing...

My fiance wants to know the email address of the Medical Centre. Anyone happen to know it?

Thank-you again from both of us.

My fiance shall call the london doctor tommorrow and ask for either a confirmation email or a letter as proff of making the appointment.

This puts our mind more at ease, even although we are very tense and worried about the whole process.

Thanks :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWorried...! Some questions.
Thanks CheekyWolf.

I don't want to sound stupid, but I'm trying to get my facts straight here -- what exactly is AOS (what does it stand for?) Is it just another name for the Medical?

Are you certain they were free at the Medical Centre in London? Because my fiance was told that any jags he was lacking in would cost in the region of £25-£35 each.

Also, we never actually got an email confirmation or letter -- we just did it over the phone. They didn't ask for an email address. Are we still okay? We don't want to get down to London and they tell us they don't know why we're here!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWorried...! Some questions.
My fiance's medical is on April 21st. He's worried that he doesn't have all the injections that are required and isn't even sure that the paper taken from his doctor's is what they want to see as it doesn't look very official.

According to the document, he's had a BCG for tuburculosis, polio vaccine, and a tetanus shot.

Will they just do the immunizations there (for a price) on the day of his Medical if he doesn't have everything? Essentially, could this potentially hold us up in any way?

Thanks!

(Also.... when you make your medical appt date, do you normally get anything back from them? My fiance has not even received any written confirmation yet!)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Slowing Down?
I hope not. My fiance sent Packet 3 off March 15th and nothing yet. I know I'm not in any position to worry yet, but we have plane tix for June 1st so it's pretty tight for us. If anybody knows anything regarding a possible slow-down in London, please share.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLondon Embassy Interview!

ooops if you look at the London timelines the waiting time from when packet 3 is received to interview date is 8-12 weeks. It's difficult to schedule the medical and the interview on the same day as the medical results take a few days to come through and go to the embassy.

good Luck

Adele

OK, we'll probably have to reschedule the medical then. My main worry is being able to leave by June 1st and no later.

This whole thing is so stressful. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLondon Embassy Interview!
My Scottish fiance sent off his form last Wednesday to get an interview date from the American Consulate in London. We have to fly all the way down to London from Scotland for the interview. We've already scheduled his medical appointment in London for April 21st, so we attached a cover letter to our form requesting that the interview be on the same day as the medical exam to save us from having to take 2 trips. Does anyone know if that will increase our chances of having the two things on the same day? Or are they just really bogged down so you're lucky to get an interview at all?

Also, we've already bought one-way tickets to fly back to the US permanently for June 1st, because the form asked when we'd be entering the US. Would they at least take note of that and get us an interview date for well before then so we don't lose money on plane tickets?

Thanks!!! I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences because I sometimes feel like we're the only ones doing this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStupid Question
After reading other people's posts about proving that they've been together 2 years with photographs, etc., I was wondering if maybe I missed something out. We're already waiting for my fiance's London interview and it seemed at no point did they ask for proof of our relationship. At what point does this usually come into play?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre we missing anything?
My fiance lay in bed worrying about his form last night, wondering if he made any mistakes. He has 3 questions he wanted me to ask on here:

1. For the police report, do they send it to your house, or straight to the Embassy? He sent away for one several weeks ago and there's no sign of it.

2. My fiance got a medical report from his doctor and it was basically just handwritten on letterheaded paper on what injections he had had. Does that sound official enough?

3. My parents are sponsoring my fiance, and filled out an affadavit of support on his behalf and had it notarized -- so my fiance didn't know if he had to include his bank statements as well. Did he???

Hopefully anyone can help. Any answers would greatly put our minds at ease!
