IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecent I-130 approvals for January!
CONGRATS!!! Isn't it exciting? Now things get a little overwhelming, but start preparing all the papers you'll need NOW. Check out this web site that most recommend:

http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

Read it over & over & over....at first reading it sounds completely foreign, but as you read and learn you'll understand it! First things first, you'll have to call NVC to get your NVC number. It took us about 6 days.

Good luck! You've joined the right thread smile.gif

I DO believe the DS-3032 is for the K3 visas as well. Check out the NVC process flowchart (it's helpful!)

http://www.visajourn...wchart_v1-2.pdf

Yes, the USC agrees to pay the fees. Because they're "petitioning" for you to come. My husband and I have shared the fees together, but it needs to come from the USC and a U.S. bank account.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecent I-130 approvals for January!
Zain - you will get your NOA2 in the mail from USCIS. We got our around 5 days later after I got an email saying we were approved! SO EXCITING!

I've filled out & printed the DS-3032 as well as the DS-230 (just to be prepared!) I also photocopied my passport data page, ordered a certified birth certificate, and will get the police check within a few weeks as I'm visiting the U.S. right now. Had my hubby & father in law fill out the I-864 and I-864A.......anything else? I want to be SO prepared so I can fly through this thing!

One couple did it in 13 days...now that's amazing eh?

Keep in touch! smile.gif

Anyone else get their NVC Case number yet?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRecent I-130 approvals for January!
Let's do this NVC process together!
We were approved January 6th, today January 12th received our NVC Case #.

Where is everyone else at? It's always helpful to do a process like this together. I know the Dec/Jan people did and it helped them!

Good luck all!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about border crossing.
Yeah, you can totally cross! I've been back and forth a TON of times and I just tell the truth, bring some proof that I'm still living in Canada and always a return flight helps in my situation. I've never once been re-questioned or brought in for extra questioning. Definitely go visit! At first I was really nervous, but it's nothing anymore.

Good luck!

No news on our interview....the operator told me last night to call back around the third week of March as they ONLY schedule interviews the first two weeks (at least we got that clarified now!) So I'll be calling back & crossing my fingers to get an April interview! If not...at least May isn't THAT far away right? smile.gif

Alrighty...this is great that everyone is getting interviews and everything, but can you be a little more specific as to how you got it?
-Did you call NVC? If not, who did you call?
-How long after your "case completed" did you call?

Hmmm....so my case was complete on Feb 25th. Do you think I should give it a few days and then call and ask if my interview date is scheduled??!? I'm hoping for an April one...but you never know! Each country/embassy is different right?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan someone explain DS-3032?
If you search DS-3032 in the forums you'll find a ton of information!

Definitely put the U.S. citizen down as the main contact. That way information between NVC (in New Hampshire) and the U.S. citizen's state will go much quicker than going between countries!

You can e-mail it and also mail it out. That's the wisest thing to do. We did both, letter was accepted before the e-mail.

Good luck!

If your husband is living in your parents home then....

wedding info is good, letters from people at your wedding, we have kept all emails that we sent (i'm also nostalgic like that!) to each other, pictures from back in the day (if they have dates on the backs), etc. be prepared, but don't let it stress you out too much. it's quite the process! but when it's over, it's worth it smile.gif good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLast name issue, please help.
It shouldn't....in all my papers I go by my married last name, but all my documents have my maiden name. That's why on the all the forms you fill out they ask for any other names you used. I don't think it's a problem! Lots of people wait to change all their info.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Received!
Congrats!!! Check out the links people sent you. With your EAC receipt from USCIS you can check with NVC if it's in the system through the AVR (automated response system). Give it about a week or so to be in the system. Eventually you can speak with an operator and ask them too. Definitely give it a few days though! Takes a bit for USCIS to mail it to NVC. Start getting all your documents together!!!! It'll go quickly if you're ready! smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!! RFE
We had an RFE, then a false RFE. They actually received our DS-230 before our I-864 RFE package, then said we had an RFE because of it. Turns out it was false. For our REAL RFE we sent it to Attn: DR. Check out the guides under LingChe for NVC and it'll guide you! Good lucK smile.gif

R-1 meaning "Religious Visa" correct? That means she already has a job in the U.S. correct? It should be fine! She has proof of her working in the U.S.. I know someone who has been on an R-1 visa for awhile, and he constantly goes across the border. The only way he wasn't allowed to was when he was filing for AOS and at a certain point he wasn't allowed to leave the country. You should be fine, but always triple check! smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTrain to Montreal?!?!?
Hey Everyone!

My friend & I are debating on whether or not to take the train from Toronto to Montreal for the CR1 interview at the embassy.

We're wondering though, does the train actually take you right near the hotel & the embassy? We thought it might save on driving there, and dealing with parking, etc. I've read that people have walked from the hotel to the embassy.

Just getting some opinions!

Thanks everyone. The journey is ALMOST over! kicking.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC AVR Message
They might have found an RFE, but it could be false! They received our DS-230 before our I-864 RFE package and send we had information missing. We waited a few days (I also couldn't get ahold of an operator it was so busy!) and then received a letter stating basically "we received the DS-230 but not the RFE package...." so FINALLY I got ahold of an operator and she said "oh yeah that's because we just looked at your information....oh and looks like your case was complete today too!" Anyways, definitely don't rely on the AVR!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 sent. NOA received, no touches? Now what?
Well the day finally came when we mailed the entire I-130 package away! What a relief! My husband received a NOA in the U.S. where he lives stating they received payment, and obviously we received a number starting with letters "EAC" to track our case online. Is this "NOA" the NOA1 we're looking for? Yikes, what's the difference? It doesn't tell us to do anything, just says "hey thanks we got your package & payment...."

So now what?

We only sent in the I-130 along with the G-325A's. I feel like we're missing something. When do we mail in the I-129f and what is that used for anyways? or DO we mail the I-129f? I'm looking to start working when I move there...if that helps out any....

Still no 'touches' on our application either, and April 29th our NOA was received. Should I be worried?

Sorry for the rambles, just hoping this will all be over by October...

Thanks guys! So glad we did this on our own, I've had friends with major lawyer issues! This VJ family is awesome! good.gif

P.S. what is the process of visiting the U.S. from Canada when the I-130 is pending anyways?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam Review in Toronto
Here's my review for my CR1 medical exam in Toronto with Dr. Seiden. Hopefully it'll give some extra information for people who are about to go for their medical exams!

Woke up at 4:30 am to drive to Toronto, getting there around 6:30 am (yuck). Parked around the corner on Jarvis Street in a parking garage. Paid $5 for two hours. I walked around the corner to Front street and you can't miss the "145 Front Street" big logo over the doorway. Walk in and immediately through the glass doors you'll see closed glass doors for Dr. Seiden's office.

I was third in line and I handed over my appointment letter (emailed from NVC) and was asked to sit in the waiting room. A few minutes later called in to a room where the lady took my passport, passport pictures, medical documents, immunization records, and the $275 cash. I signed a piece of paper and went around the corner to sit down. Before I could even sit down I was called into the x-ray room and the lady took an xray of my back. Got dressed, took the paper gown with me, and put into another room. Nice doctor took my blood pressure and heartbeat and I waited about 20-30 minutes for Dr. Seiden and another doctor (probably a trainee? He was really nice). Dr. Seiden asked a bunch of questions about my health, my past, etc etc etc. and the younger doctor checked my stomach, my back, heartbeat again, looked in my ears, etc. Very kind doctor, and told you always what he was doing as not to surprise you. Dr. Seiden (an old man with a cane) left the room and a young nurse (woman) came in. The other doctor turned around as the nurse did the quickie breast exam. Got dressed, left that room, and went into the waiting room for about 5 minutes (if that!) and then got my blood taken. That was it!!! How easy eh?

My recommendation is to GET THERE EARLY. Although it isn't fun being there at 6:30 am (doors open at 7 or a little earlier), it's well worth it. I was 3rd in line so I wasn't really waiting for too many people. I notice they got really back logged by the time I was finished around 8:30 am. If you want to be there all day...take your time...if not...get there nice & early.

Overall it was super easy, met A & M in line smile.gif -- (she was 2nd) and went out for lunch. It was NOT as stressful as I had expected it to be, I was all jittery in the morning! But a really relaxed setting. Be organized, have your info, and you'll fly through the medical quickly! good.gif

On to Montreal Monday for my interview on Tuesday!!! Can't believe this process is almost done....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved...now for my odd border crossing question!
Hey! Interview may 19th---approved without a hitch! I'll post my review soon, I promise smile.gif

But until then...

On June 4th I'm driving across to Buffalo to pick up my husband, then driving back to Ontario within an hour or two (he's coming for my cousins wedding). June 7th we'll fly back out of Buffalo together! So my question is, I'll probably "activate" my visa before picking up my husband. Will going back across less than an hour later be a problem? Anybe else ever done that?
Just thought I'd throw it out there to see! Good luck to everyone with interviews this month! smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhat is IR-1 and CR-1??
I know, when you're new all these letters & numbers gets confusing! Trinket said it right....

CR1 - Condition Residency. If you are married for 2 years or LESS than you get a CR1 visa with an automatic 2 year green card, 90 days before that visa expires you do some paperwork, and if everything looks good you get a 10 year freen card.

IR1 - if you've been married for 2 or MORE years. 10 year green card!

I really don't know if it's at the time of your visa interview, OR if it's when you activate it at the border. Definitely look into that. There were two ladies at my interview this week in Montreal that would've been having their 2 year anniversary in 2 days from the interview, so questionable what visa they'd get.

If you applied for AOS and you're in the U.S. then I don't believe these are applicable to you, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEvidences that bona fides of your marriage- I-130??
That sounds really good! Also, we had his mother do an affadavit. Just writing down she knew we dated since 2005, she knew we were engaged on this date, she attended our wedding....etc. She signed & dated it. That's the only thing we sent in and it was fine. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen I filed for my husband visa we were shy a few mo. of being married 2 yrs.
All that matters is when you cross the border. I had an interview same day as a lady who would have been married 2 years in 2 days. She was so worried she would only get a 2 year green card. They actually informed her it's when she crosses at the Point of Entry into the U.S. So you'll be fine! smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230- ORIGINAL OR CERTIFIED COPIES
We sent in all CERTIFIED copies, and an original police certificate (RCMP gave me 2, so I kept one). You get all these things back, but they specifically ask for a certified birth certificate, so we did the same for the marriage cert.

Good luck!
