K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A questions
Thank you for your replies.

The first reply makes sense. I have read a lot and it appears that photocopies are fine initially, but will need certified copies or original divorce certificate when going for my interview etc.

With regards to name change, I kept my married name after divorce so I haven't changed my name back to my maiden name except for when I got married. I have not read anything that indicates I need to provide proof of a name change. I will have my former spouse listed so I think the proof is right there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A questions
Greetings!

My (soon to be) fiance and I haven't filed our paperwork yet. (we plan to this July). Getting all the forms ready and filling out the G325A, I realised I had some questions. I tried phoning USCIS however the rep told me to ask an immigration lawyer or a professional form writer. I also tried e-mailing the US consulate in Vancouver but did not hear back. So, here are my questions, if anyone here has any advice:

1. With regards to my father: my mother did not put him on my birth certificate and all I know about him is his name. Do I just put "unknown" in the spaces with regards to father's name, birthplace etc?

2. I believe my fiance will need a copy of my divorce decree to file the 129F, is a photocopy ok for now, or do I need to get certified copies? I realise I will probably need a certified copy later on down the road when it comes to interview time at the US consulate.

3. I have worked for the same company for over five years, but in two locations. Do I need to state the different locations, or just the location of the head office of the company I have worked for?

Thank you so much for any help you can provide. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp, emergency!
A co-worker of mine recently had the same thing happen to her. After going through surgery to put a steel rod in her leg, she is doing great, no cast at all, just crutches. It is a serious injury of course, but be assured that he will be just fine :) It's a scary thing to have a loved one call you with news like that, especially when they're all drugged up, but it sounds like he is in good hands and your visa process is moving along great also.

Good luck to you, and best wishes for his recovery!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVaccination Records Missing

Hello VJers,

I've a question regarding vaccination records. While we haven't yet received our NoA2, we're trying to prepare. My fiance (England) is trying to get his history of vaccination records as a child, but keeps running into a dead end. They keep telling him they simply can't find them. Is this going to be a problem when it comes to his medical exam at Knightsbridge? Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Erinn

I found a link that might be of assistance http://travel.state....L-0001-0808.pdf

I believe if you don't have a record of your vaccinations - you can get a blood test that will determine which ones you have had.

Depends on the Embassy. Yes, this is very serious. There is no guarantee she'll ever be issued a visa and you guys need to discuss this.

They were told to come back in a year. No point in being contrary to what he was told by an official.

IF YOUR FIANCE KNOWS THAT SHE IS HAVING MEDICAL EXAM AND SHE HAVE INTERVIEW FOR VISA , THE QUESTION IS WHAY SHE DID USE DROGS, IS SHE DAM OR WHAT , BECAUSE THATS HOW SOUNDS TO ME !!

What's done is done. Also, the OP stated that her system would be clean, it was by admission to using drugs over 3 months ago that she was denied. Your post isn't helpful to the situation by being judgmental.

Well, I would think that decision is up to both of you. I mean, if you have a co-sponsor that should be good enough to meet the requirements. Just remember that you have a lot of filing processes that cost money. You need to pay to file the I-129F, you need to pay for your medical exam and the K1 visa as well as any other documents you may need. There will also be a wedding to pay for when you enter the country.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMontreal packet 3 and 4

We have been waiting for months and still no packet #3. It's been almost 3 weeks and no packet #4 yet. Be sure to use email to Montreal within 1 to 2 weeks of notice by calling NVC and DOS for updates. We lost 6 weeks on packet #3 and 2 weeks on packet #4 by not calling within 1 to 2 weeks. Use your phone calls and emails to your advantage. If we had not called, emailed and used the information in VisaJourney we would still be waiting for packet 3 to show up with months lost. Once they email your packet #4 info get your interview date ASAP, every day can mean weeks later, Don't delay if you can help it. We signed up for our interview last night and I went in this morning and it's now three weeks later for the next interview date. Hope this helps!

Steven

There's a really great sticky in the Canada forums regarding the Montreal embassy. Montreal is notoriously slow it seems. Good luck on your interview! Congrats!

Thanks for your response. It's just unclear to me if the birth certificate needs to be notarized as the USCIS website doesn't say so.

It doesn't. You will need an official copy for your K1 interview though, I believe.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Visits From USA to Canada

Hello everyone ,

My Fiance has travelled several times to Canada ( Driving from where he lives in USA ) How to Prove his entries with a physical document
Since his passport is just a card ( it doesnt have any stamp or dates of his entries on it )
Does anybody knows how to get that information , I called to the Canada Border AGency ..is that the only way? They asked to fill out a form
but there are so many that most of them just relates when the person has flown and used an airline..

PLease if any of you has gone through this ,,,Give me a hand !!

THanks a lot !

If you HAVE to prove his entry with a physical document then it seems that Customs would be the only way to go. Does he have any receipts for hotel reservations, or car rentals, or anything else when he was in Canada visiting you?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE due to insufficient evidence of divorce...

Our case was approved!!! Now on to the interview and entry stages - wish us luck. I sent in the an original document with the raised seal and a cover letter explaining, that is all the county/court I was divorced through only offers that letter has the final decree. So 14 business days after they received our reply(10/29), they approved it..

Congratulations!

Hi

All VJs members,

Has anybody got approved of NOA2 K1-CSC filler of mid of August-2012?

Response will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between December 31, 2012 and January 8, 2013*.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it better to send the I-129F via express mail?

Hi, I am finally finishing the I-129F paperwork it has taken forever I'm so worried to do anything wrong. Now I am trying to figure out this:

On the official government website it says to either mail via USPS to Dallas Lockbox a PO Box address OR
if its Express mail to mail it to another address in Lewisville, TX

Which address is better to send it to?

Obviously its more expensive to send it express but if it speeds things up then I would prefer to do it that way.

On a side note I am currently abroad and am sending the package from Brazil so I would prefer to send it express also just to be safe.

Thanks again everyone!!!

I prefer to send important papers express so there's a tracking number etc.

I think i am confuse right now about affidavit of support. The problem is my fiancee makes $800 a month and with the co-sponser kinda of thing is big thing to ask someone to do if that person is not your family member. Now we can't find a co-sponser and is there a possibility of we getting approved on our interview?I am depressed right now.

It doesn't seem like a possibility without a co-sponsor unless you have a lot of savings etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPre- NOA2 Preparation

Thank you for your responses.

A&B:
In my original post I gave a link to a thread that asked a question about documents needed Post NOA1. The first response given gave a long list of documents. Of these the remittance receipts and engagement receipts were listed as necessary documents. I didn't know what those were so I was hoping someone could explain.

It looks like the post you are referring to was a list of someone's documents that they were sending with their application. They were just supporting documents, not required. It is not required to buy your fiancee a ring or show the receipt, but if you had, you could provide a copy of the receipt. It would just be further evidence of a bona fide relationship, but again not required.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPre- NOA2 Preparation

Hey everyone, So I've been referring to this recent post, HERE to prepare for the next step of the K1 visa process. NOA1 was received in early November, we now wait for NOA2. I'm going to visit my fiancee in January and I wanted to bring all the paperwork she would need so I don't have to mail it to her. Few questions though,

1. Employment Letter: What should this say ? What are the reviewing agents seeking to learn upon reading this letter ?

2. 2011 Taxes: I have my 2011 tax documents, but what about 2012 taxes ? Obviously filing time for 2012 isn't here quite yet, but our visa process will continue into 2013 and through tax season and after I've filed...at what point during the year 2013 will they start considering 2012 "last years" taxes ? For example, if my fiancee's interview is in June 2013, will they expect her to have my tax information for 2012 ?

3. Remittance Receipts: What are these ?

4. Engagement Receipt: What is this ?

5. I'm right on the border of the poverty line so I'm going to have a co-sponsor just in case. Do I need to have all these documents for both of us then (sponsor and co sponsor) ?

Thank you in advance.

An employment letter could be a letter from your employer saying "John Smith" is currently employed at "Widgets 'R Us" as a full time general labourer." I think it should be dated closer to your fiancee's interview time. Same with any pay stubs etc. If you do your taxes early, you should get your tax statement back in time for the interview.

Engagement receipt would be a copy of your engagement ring receipt if you have purchased one, but it is not a requirement. And yes, you would need the financial info for both sponsor and co sponsor.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresService request

Based on advice from other VJers, I just tried to get a service request for my I-129F and was turned down twice. The first woman I spoke to was not very friendly, but the second man was very nice and understanding on the phone. However, they both said that because VSC is currently processing cases from May 28, 2012, my case is "within normal processing times" and they cannot issue a service request. The second guy said that he even tried to give me one but wasn't allowed to. Neither would let me speak to a tier 2 officer.

I've seen other cases on here with NOA1 dates close to mine that have already gotten service requests, and it's been just over 5 months for my case.

Any advice or suggestions? What do you have to say to speak to a tier 2 officer? Am I being too pushy and should I just wait until they start processing cases closer to my NOA1 date?

Thanks for your help.

My NOA2 is right about the same time as yours. Even according to VJ, they are still processing June. My estimated approval date on this website is between Jan. 7 and 12 approximately, so I would wait til the end of January before submitting another service request.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A Questions (K-1 BENEFICIARY)

Oh hi there,

This thread is mostly for peace of mind. As I'm finding it hard to send this form off to my Fiance until it's reached perfection. Yes I've read the example sheets, and yes I've searched the forums for answers. As I said, this is more-so for peace of mind that I'm doing things correctly. If I could get responses from more than 1 person as well, that would be great :).

So, for the below situations-- keep in mind that I am the beneficiary, and this is the G-325A form that's filed alongside the I-129F for our K1 Fiance package.

Begin.

1. Applicant's residence for past 5 years.

Would I include a college dorm address that I stayed at for 4 semesters (I came back home for the summer both times) even though it wasn't my "permanent address". All of my mail still went to my parent's house. And if I do have to put my college dorm down, do I also state that I was home for the summer?

2. Applicant's last address outside of the U.S for more than 5 years.

I, the beneficiary, have always resided outside the U.S . Do I just repeat my the same address in the question above? (If I was there longer than a year)

3. Applicant's employment for last 5 years.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that I have to state employment dates, as well as unemployment dates? 5 years ago I was fresh out of high-school, didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, and had a new job every 3 months. I know for a fact I'll need an external sheet of some sort. Would it be fine to say "See attached page" in the first blank for that question? And if I were to include an external page, what's the best way to label it correctly?

4. Last occupation abroad if not shown above.

Would I also say "See attached page", or would I just write down my most recent employment even though it's on an external page?

5. This form is submitted in connection for an application for : ?

I've seen some posts say to check "Other" and write "Form I-129F" in the space beside it. And I've seen other posts that say "check status as permanent resident". Which is correct?

6. Signature, as well as the box under the word "Applicant" at the VERY bottom of the page.

From my understanding, I fill out both on my form-- and my fiance fills out both on her own G325A form. Is this correct?

7. Where to put None, and where to put N/A.

Area's where I put "None": File Number, U.S Social Security Number, Current Husband/Wife, Former Husbands/Wife, Alien Registration Number.

Area's where I put "N/A" : If your native alphabet is in other Roman letters.

Correct?

Thanks for the read! :)

Question 1 & 2 - I would just put your parent's address - that was your permanent residence - dorms are just temporary. For the second part - yes your parent's address then.

For the employment part - I would just attach a page referencing the question number on the application - make sure to put your name on there, the application number and question number

Yes, check off other and write I-129F

the NONE and N/A seem fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about RFE - HELP!

We received a RFE letter today, the things we need to give more evidence on are,

Dated pictures - Does this mean time stamped, because we dont have ANY. (Who does that anymore, seriously?) Would Facebook picture screenshots work, as they say the date they were uploaded? Or do we simply write on the date they were taken on the back or something?

They need more travel info. - I don't have all the boarding passes. (Why would these also be kept when we didn't know we would eventually be marrying and needing them to prove our relationship?)
Will itineraries do?

The passport stamps apparently don't prove anything. So does that mean I need to scan every single page front to back? How does that prove it anyway?

Help please!!
:help:

Just write the date on the back of the pictures with your names. Itineraries and as many boarding passes as you have.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical

Hello all,

Another favor to ask regarding Medical and vaccines. I came to the Netherlands as a refugee from former Yugoslavia. I do not have any vaccination records in the Netherlands. I am 43 years of age and I know that in former Yugoslavia all vaccines were administered properly, but for someone of my age there are no more records to be found there. If I cannot produce any records, would that mean that I would have to take all the vaccines in the list? Anyone can help me with this, please!!!!

You can either get your vaccines done again, or get your titres done, which is a blood test that looks for the anti-bodies in your blood against those diseases. Just take a look at the vaccine requirements for the Netherlands embassy. More than likely you'll have to get your TDap shot anyway.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy G-135A questions

The G-135A is pretty straight forward, but I have a few questions:

#1. File number A:

What goes here? I'm guessing "None" but I don't want to guess.

#2. The bottom box:
Applicant: Print your name and Alien Registration in the box outlined by heavy border below.

Do I print my/her name by hand or can I use the computer typing?

A (Alien Registration Number), I'm guessing "None" again, but don't want to guess.

Thanks for the :help:

Vic

none or N/A is fine as your fiancee doesn't have their alien registration number yet. You can print (legibly) or type; it doesn't matter.

Hello. I just need to know if I will meet the requirements. My finances interview will be in march 2013 for k1 visa. I started my job September 2012 and my yearly income is about $24000. I do not have tax returns as I just started. I also have a part time job that I earn about $400/month. If I provide all recent pay stubs and letters from employer that I am full time and permanent will I be ok? I also have about $22000 in my savings account. I live with my parents so I have no dependents. Let me know what you think. Thanks for any advice.

thought i would give an update on how my trip went ,maybe it will be useful for anyone else worried about visiting their fiance,i was called to the desk, asked the purpose of my visit,i said just a vacation to have xmas and new year with my fiance ( i was nervous like it was a dental appointment ),there was a bit of tapping and staring at her PC,then she asked if my fiance was travelling with me,i said no,then i was asked if we were living togethor in the UK,i said no,she asked if my fiance was an american citizen and i said yes, then it was what do i do for work ?,and do i have a return ticket, then she opened my passport and looked for a while at my previous stamps and glanced at her monitor, then she just said ok welcome to the USA and have a nice vacation, and that was it,all that worry and stress evaporated and no need for all the paperwork i took with me, i wished her a happy new year with a big grin, but no smile from her,no eye contact, maybe they dont do smiles ? i once made a joke (never again)and was told ''we dont do jokes here sir''but the holiday went great, chopping wood, romantic walks with the dog,a log burner and movies in the evenings, earning brownie points by stripping and restaining/varnishing the kitchen units and they looked like new and saved her $$$$$$$ on a new kitchen,i was a hero, the dog thought so too with all the walks by the lake! why dont they do oxo's ? or gravy granules ? but thats another topic !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding Plans (Cancel?)

I think it is absolutely inexcusable that USCIS cannot keep to a reasonably timed schedule to allow international couples to be comfortable making wedding plans according to their chosen schedule.

The long waits are frustrating, but there is no guarantee that the application will be approved, also things might get held up by RFEs. I think it's reasonable to NOT plan a full blown wedding until you are approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBuy your ticket before the interview..

I can even take this statistics further and assume chances for uncertainty for future short-notice ticket price. Let's say there is 10% chance that ticket will remain $800, 20% chance that it becomes $1,000, 20% chance that it will cost $1,400, 20% chance that it will cost $1,700, and 10% chance for $2,000 (being company executive and frequent traveler I can assure you these are real chances). Expected Value for buying in advance = 0.5*800 + 0.05*800 + 0.1*1000 + 0.1*1,400 + 0.1*1,700 + 0.05*2,000 + $150 (fee)*0.5 = $1,025. Expected value for buying 1 week before once visa in hand = 0.1*800+0.2*1,000 + 0.2*1,400+0.2*1,700 + 0.1*2,000 = $1,100. Still, Expected cost is lower, including fees (worst fees) for buying in advance. And I provided worst spread of chances - 50/50!

You remind me of my fiance. Math and logic!

I know you can research vaccine requirements for Ecuador. If they have records stored that's great, if not she could get her titres (blood test to show immunity), or she could also get her vaccines re-done.

For myself, I had to get my MMR re-done because the records were too old and I believe after a certain age it may not show up in the titres anyway. I do have to get my titre done for my chicken pox though as I did have it as a child and was never vaccinated.

This is what im thinking! Im going to apply for my CRB police cert thingy in the next couple of weeks and get all my vaccinations and certs done in advance! I think its best to have these all ready by the time your NOA2 comes as if its within 12 months im pretty sure all ur details are still good and valid.

Absolutely, while you're waiting, get all you can get done in advance. Sometimes it takes a few weeks or longer to make appointments, wait for police certificates etc. If you can find childhood records of vaccinations that helps too.

I have heard that the US consulates accept co-sponsors (I hope so, as I will be using one). As for your passport, you should be ok. You need 6 months left on your passport at the time of your POE (when you're moving to the USA). So if you put in your paperwork in the next little bit, you should be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForm G325A

I do have a quick question about Form G-325A:

On the fifth row of the form, first block it reads 'Former Husbands or Wives (If none, so state) Family Name (For wife, give maiden name)

I am divorced. I need to enter her maiden name in that block correct? I'm asking because on the form it does not ask if this is a former wife or husband. I entered her maiden name and in parenthesis I entered (Former wife).

The 4th and 5th blocks ask for the Date and Place of Marriage and the next block asks for Termination of Marriage. The online form does not allow you to type in all the information so I had to write in by hand the location in both of these blocks. Is this acceptable?

I have not sent the forms yet.

Yes, hand written is acceptable as long as it is legible.

Hi guys

I am pretty new to visa journey, but my fiancee and I are in the process of applying for a K1 visa to bring me down to the USA (from Calgary, Alberta, Canada).

We have sent in the paperwork, etc, and received an NOA1. We have set the wedding for August 31st, 2013.

The big question is will we have enough time for this wedding date to work? I just filled out the timeline today, and it is predicting our 129F may be adjudicated between June 22, 2013 and July 30, 2013*.

Is this a pretty good estimate? Or are these playing on the safe side of things?

If you have been in this situation before, please let me know how things turned out!

Thanks,

Mark

IF everything works out perfectly, you could probably swing it. That would mean no RFEs, and that Vermont, or California processing centre was working within a good time frame. To give you some perspective, my fiance and I had an NOA1 date of July 12th of last year. (We sent our application in on July 9). We got our approval on Dec. 31, 2012. My interview is on February 14 of this year and I'm planning to cross the border on March. 31. That's about 8 months and so far no hiccups (yet). We're planning a small courthouse wedding for April 5. Nothing is guaranteed though. So if I were you, I wouldn't plan anything that I couldn't cancel and make alternate arrangements.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion 18 of i-129f

On the I-129f question 18: how much details should I put, i know its one of the most important questions to answer but wondering how much details should i put down. also 2013 is not our first meeting it was back in 2008. from 2008 i revisited on 2009, 2011 and 2013. do i write out also the past years that we met?

thanks -Alfred

You could say that you first met in 2008 and have since visited each other in 2009, 20011, and 2013. They require that you have met in the last 2 years and you have. Just a couple of sentences is all that is needed.
