hi,
does anyhow have suggestions for good, affordable hostel near or within 20 min or so near to the american embassy?
does not have to be 4 or 5 star, something cheap but clean for the week or so hes there doing papers.

so...tentative plan to make process as easy and fast as possible is to get married in lima, (so as to cut down processing time) then receive cert. in lima..(is this possible?), after cert. received have all papers ready to present for the I-130 and go to the embassy to give them our petition.... :wow: this seems like alot...haha but im sure this ultimately would be the best and quickest way to do it right?

ah yeh, just to clarfy...."after" we receive Marriage Cert. in Mail we must bring it to the Reniec correct? Then wait a couple days? what is it that they do at the reneic?

I believe I will be getting my Birth cert. apostillized/notarized in the states......though its wonderful to know there is the option of doing this in peru!

so all in all how much time would you say it takes from start to finish (married legally with certificate)?

i have a question concerning the ceritfication of documents when marrying a peruvian. I am American citizen, and am wondering about how to go about getting my Birth Cert. and Proof of being Single paper certified, notarized, etc.

hello all,
In short, I have what they call a "Delayed" birth Cert. which means.....my mother did not file me a birth certificate until 6 years AFTER i was born. The birth certificate that i have simply states :
  • my full name
  • date of birth
  • sex
  • county of birth
  • mothers name

and nothing else.....not my fathers name, not WHICH COUNTRY she was born in......arrrggg

But the thing is.....i have done all my papers in the states with this birth cert. INCLUDING getting a passport.
Vital records tells me that its completely Legit, and it a good birth cert. its simply doesnt have alot of the information, (as my mom for some reason decided not to fill this all out)!


TO GET TO THE POINT.....wondering if this will be acceptable when getting married in peru?

any advice greatly appreciated!

hello so i am confused about needing to provide the I-134 or the I-1864 at my fiances Visa interview in Lima peru.

i am in the states, and trying to cut corners and wanting to send the affidavit of support asap....just to be prepared and make the process as short as possible.

the least amount of things we have to send in the mail the better!

i am wondering what others who have had interviews at the lima embassy recently had to present?

i have been trying to reach the embassy in lima, but it is very difficult! :wacko:

my family has a very large church/organization and would like to file the I-134 for my fiance.

Did the CO make any comments or ask many questions about the "public charge" issue? I am just trying to get a handle on what the opinion is here at the embassy. My fiancee and I are both young, determined, and capable of making our way very well in life, but I simply don't have any income which would enable me to be a sole sponsor.


if it makes you feel any better, me and my partner are in the same situation as you, in pretty much every sense. we are independent free people, who live a happy healthy life....but when it comes to taxes, etc... geez.

to clear things up for all of you, I have not filed taxes for the past 2 years because I have not reached the income level that i need to attain before i need to file federal income taxes. My income was not sufficient to require that I file a return.

For the Past 2 years I have been living off of savings and have had help financially from my parents and family. the "under the table" that was mentioned was...yes....little bits here and there. definitely not enought to file for taxes.

ok, so we are using a co-sponsor.....and i understand that i need to fill out my own I-134.
but....i have no proof (taxes, etc.) of bringing in income for the past 3 years or so.... as i have been working under the table,and being supported by my parents, and not making that much at all.
i am wondering if i have to show any kind of proof of income/not having any?

or simply filling out the form, and stating that i have been supported by my parents.....?

so, i have recently been employed and will have a good amount of income and saving by the time my fiance will be turning in the I-134 at his interview.
we will be getting a co-sponsor, but i am wondering if beings i have a job now...(have been living off of saving for the past 2 years/have not made enough $ to file for taxes)......
should i still provide all of my bank info, letter from my employer etc.
also, i will not have filed taxes for this year yet. as they are in april or so....and he will probably be going to his interview in dec. or jan if all goes well.

i understand that the co-sponsor will be the one providing all the evidence and support the my fiance will not become a public charge......
but i thought it would be better to show that i am actually working, and have income......as apposed to not....?

any suggestions?

k1 visa, I-134 question:

my co-sponsor, has filed taxes for the past 10 years, and is presently and for the filing period of 2009 125% above the poverty level.
must the cosponsor be above 125 poverty level for the 2 years of tax returns that will be presented? we will be presenting tax returns for the years of 2008/2009....we do not believe he is above the poverty level for 2008....or atleast enough so for 2 people.
i only ask this because i believe the interview will be before 2010 filing of taxes.

i am wondering if the Police, and military records have to be gotten in the city of Lima? or if they can be gotten in iquitos, where my fiance has lived his whole life....?
i understand that lima is the center, and so all archives might be kept there.

hello, all. 1st and formost me (us) and my fiance (Peru) thank you for any and all your help through this what i believe will be bit of a process to say the least! :)

i have a number of questions concerning the K1 Visa process/I-129F petition. it seems near to IMPOSSIBLE to get through to the so called customer service at the visa centers or Department of homeland security.
i will number them so it is easier to understand.

1.)
is it possible to change address on our I-129f with white out? (my fiance had to move due to a weird situation "after" we filled out all the paperwork.) or do we have to fill out all new papers?

2.)
Name Change Question: (i will explain situation 1st)
so when my fiance was born he was given "2" different birth certificates (his mother filed for one, and then his father filed for a separate one after they were separated)
so…when we tried to go to the immigration office to get his passport…they said NO you cant, your ID is false….it is not the right information, you don't have the correct ID/Name, you have to get a new ID with the Other birth certificate that has a "DIFFERENT" name and birth date on it.
*(weird thing, he can use his old id for practically everything, even going to college/opening bank account etc.)*

so, needless to say, we have gone through the process got the new ID. the 1st said only had"Elvis" as 1st name…the 2nd now has "Jimmy-Elvis" (2 1st names…?)
the problem is, all of his military records, EVERYTHING but his new ID and new Passport has his old name on it…"Elvis", not "Jimmy-Elvis".

simply i am wondering if this will be a problem with presenting the military records/any other papers we might need to present to the Visa office in the Embassy in Lima? is it just to bring papers and explain our situation in lima?

3.)
if he (fiance) has a young child (8 months) that will NOT accompany him the 1st trip to america, but has plans to bring over eventually, what is the time line allotted to file for a K2 for the child? the mother of the child (no they were never married) does not want the child to leave Peru until his is a bit older.
is it possible for a child to enter on a K2 anytime (say 2 years etc.) after the Parent/Fiance has been in the states?

4.)
if the child will be coming over "eventually" but not yet…..should he file for a separate I-134 in this initial I-129F ?
and proceed with all the papers as if the child was coming with him now? or should he just wait to file a I-184/other papers in the states?

5.)
what is needed for the child (papers) for the child to travel from peru to USA?

6.)
he (fiance) will have to apply for a "advance parol" to go back and get his child (to bring to the USA)…..is having a child/Property in peru sufficient proof of needing to leave the USA and go back to Peru?

7.)
if he will only be over there visiting (Peru) for 1 or 2 months, is it necessary to get "advanced parole"…..or is "advance parol" mandatory when leaving the USA before getting green card?

8.)
if we are getting a "joint sponsor" for our I-134, do i (USA) and fiance need to file out a I-134 also?
if so…we are not working at the moment….so then how do we fill out these forms? what information should we put?

There are regional forums to ask specific questions about the policies at a specific consulate. You can also read the Embassy reviews for Lima (again, link at top of page) to get an idea what a typical interview might be like.

i have a question concerning work/travel while the I-129f is being processed.

once i file the I-129f send it in...etc. is it possible for me to go work somewhere else (another town)while this is all being processed and hopefully approved.?
or do i have to be at the address put on the forms to receive papers etc.?

my situation is....i have to go work in another city (other than address stated on forms).....after the initial filing, do they continue to send things in the mail to me, that i need to recieve and send back to them? or is everything just forwarded between the California service center and the National VIsa Center?

are all approvals done electronically or by mail?

i know i need to send my fiance the I-134 etc.

is there any specific way the they want them or format?

so, i am wanting to know which address i should put on the I-129f for my fiance?
my fiance has an address that he currently lives at in peru (our house).....but.....this address has problems recieving mail....meaning things dont ever get there!
but, his aunt has an address that he would like to recieve the packets 3 and 4 at (which is not our house)
should i just put our house address on it (where he currently lives).....and worry about telling the consulate in peru later, when the time comes for them to send the packets?

so i have sent off my petition and it was recieved on the 15th of july!
i know its still very early on, and it will most likely be a while until i recieve the 1st approval.
i wasnt able to send a personal check, so i cant check it that way. i had to send a money order.
but i have heard stories of people not even recieving anything in the mail (a 1st approval)......only recieving there 2nd approval like 3-4 months down the road....
any advice?
also, how many days after they have recieved it can i contact the Cal. Serv. center?

beings it will be my fiance and his son applying for the visa, will they both be charged the amount of $350?
what medical information needs to be collected for his son? will he need a medical exam, the same as his father?
if, my father (the co-sponsor) is self employed and does not file taxes, but can show more than sufficient proof of income through his bank account and his assets, will this be fine?

Yes, he/she must be above the 125% poverty level. However, you also have to take into consideration if he/she has dependants.

Your not having your own home and living in your mothers house will not affect your Affidavit (I-134) at all. I to lived in my mothers home at the time of filing for our I-129F and K1 and this did not affect anything.

Here is a link to the 2013 Fed. Poverty Guidlines. 2013 Fed. Pov. Guidelines this will help you figure out if you make enough to be the SOLE sponsor.

If you do need to use your mother as a Co-Sponsor, She herself must also fill out a I-134 form, completely with all of her proof.
you also will completely fill out a separate I-134., complete with financial proof. ( instructions for the I-134 will give you list of documents needed)
