US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProblems with USEM
I'd like to thank everyone that has replied. Yes, I have spoken to both Grace and Lorainne regarding my case status. Every time there was an update to my case status, I was told the turnaround time for case to reach the next stage would be six weeks. My fiancee had her interview over seven weeks ago and we are still waiting. I've seen other who have had their interview last month already receive their visas. The waiting would not be so bad if we had any guarantee that things are being taken care of. It just seems that everything done in regards to the process is completely at random.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionProblems with USEM
If anyone can provide me with some insight on this, it would be greatly appreciated. My fiancee had her interview on May 20th. Everything seems to have gone well so we thought. We paid the document verification fee on 4/30 hoping that this would insure that everything would be taken care of by the time of her interview. To date, we still have not received the visa. What makes matters worse is that through constantly contacting the USEM, I found out that they were waiting for the result of the verification of my fiancee's birth certificate even though they had never contacted the NSO to verify that document. The USEM had only requested that her CENOMAR be verified and that was done on 5/23. To make a long story short, all of my fiancee's papers have been verified and are now with the CO since 6/30. We have yet to be contacted about additional requirements and of course we are still waiting on the visa. Does anyone know how long it takes for the CO to review cases once they have all of the papers? We are being told that the maximum turnaround time is six weeks. Also, is there anyway we can get the name and contact information of the specific CO so we can find out what is the hold up. I know we might be a bit impatient on this but I have watch numerous people get their visas already and their interviews were in June.

PhilippinesInterview Date
I just thought that I would provide an update. I called the USEM last night my time. we were deemed "documentily qualified" and a 5/20 interview date was set. Their confirmation email message did not mention the medical exam though. Do you call St. Luke's ourselves to set up the appointment for the medical exam? Thanks.

PhilippinesInterview Date
Hi All,

Last night I called the US Embassy in Manila to schedule my fiancee's interview. NVC had forwarded my materials to the embassy on 3/31 and they received them at the embassy on 4/4. I was told that my fiancee was not documentarily qualified. She also stated that a consulate officer was currently going over our documents and that we should have be listed as being able to schedule an interview. She stated that she would enter a report stating that we should be made documentarily qualified and would contact my fiancee by phone to schedule the interview. She also stated that I should call back in about two weeks. My question is, has anyone else experienced this? I noticed that there have been a couple of applications that have arrived at the USEM around the same time as mine and they have interview dates this month. Thanks.

PhilippinesDouble check your interview appointment!!
Hi all,

I called the USEM call center yesterday and got an interview appointment of 5/20. They sent a confirmation email to my fiancee. However, the message only mentioned her interview at the embassy and not her medical appointment. Do I need to call the USEM back to schedule her medical appointment as well? Thanks.

PhilippinesImmunization Shots/Records
Thanks everyone for your input. I don't think my fiancee had many of her vaccinations when she was younger. She told me she had some when she was very young but her parents misplaced the records. I'm not sure if she had the chicken pox before but she have the mumps when she younger. Thanks again.

PhilippinesImmunization Shots/Records
Hi All,

My fiancee has her medical appointment at St. Lukes on 5/13. Because she has not had some of her immunization shots, we are considering getting them in Calbayog City, which is very near where she lives. I was wondering if the medical exam that she must take prior to her interview includes vaccinations if the person hadn't received them already? I understand she will not not need the vaccinations for the visa interview but I heard she will need them at some point when we apply for her AOS so we felt that it was a good idea to just take care of things as soon as possible. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Samuel + Retchel,

I went back and typed in my number and it said that it could not find me on the appointment list. I have heard that they are very bad when it comes to updating the system. So are you saying that my fiancee and I can schedule her medical appointment ourselves? I thought that maybe the embassy set it up when they set up the interview date. Thanks.

DW

Ok, I just checked the appointment schedule and it has us listed as having an interview appointment on 5/20 at 7:00am instead of 7:30am which is listed i the confirmation email. I think I will have my fiancee there very early just in case. Also, we have a medical examination date set for 5/13. I guess as long as the medical exam is done prior to the interview it doesn't matter.

PhilippinesVisa Pickup
Hi All,

My fiancee has her medical exam scheduled for 5/13 and her interview scheduled for 5/20. I have heard a number of people on VJ mention arranging to pick up their visa rather than wait for it to be delivered. When I called the USEM regarding my fiancee's appointment, I was told we couldn't arrange to pick up the visa. I get the feeling that the person I was speaking to was not completely sure about this since she had provided some erroneous information earlier in the conversation. I would like my fiancee to be able to pick up the visa so she can take care of things with the CFO as soon as possible. Does anyone know how and if visa pickup can be arranged? Thanks.

Hi all,

My fiancee Kila passed her medical exam yesterday and her interview is scheduled on 5/20. I've recently read a lot of posts regarding documentation and associated horror stories. Kila and I paid the documentation fee on 4/30 and from what I have read, we are most likely not going to get our visa anytime soon because of document verification (Most people choose to pay even earlier prior to their interviews and are still waiting). That being said, I don't know if there is anything that we can do to change whether we will be in AR or not after the interview but could someone please explain to me how this process works and if there is anything I can do here from the US to find out what is going on? In particular what is going on between the USEM, NSO, and Delbros? What is forwarded to the NSO? When is this done? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

DW

1st of all this is a Random Procedure by the Consular Officer...

Please kindly follow this guide of document verification payment..

http://www.visajourn...howtopic=124332

This Guide is good to follow, but doesn't guarantee the outcome.. (Who knows what these consular officers are thinking)

You may or may not go through Docs Verification as its randomly done..

I just don't want people from blaming the creator of the Guide for following the procedure and still put to AR.

Like I said its a GUIDE..

Agreed! There only thing that is for certain is that as long as you have the correct amount of money for the fee, they will take your money. Other than that, there are systemic inconsistencies throughout the visa stage of the immigration process for various reasons. Try to complete all the aspects of the visa stage as required and stay on top of things. That's the best that you can do besides pray.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

Thanks for your responses guys. Now that I am close to the end of the process, I am getting very anxious and frustrated with things. The process for getting the visa seem to change and there is never a clear answer from the parties involved. There seems to be a damn fee associated with everything and just because you pay the fee does not mean that they will do what they are supposed to do in a timely manner or at all. I will keep praying that we make it through this process ok. Thanks again.

Hi All,

Kila had her interview today. She was told to pay the delbros delivery fee and received the pink slip. She was told that once her documents were verified that her visa would be delivered to her. She didn't receive the infamous white slip people have spoke of though. Does this mean that she was approved. There was no mention of additional information which was required. Also, a few women there who were also having interviewed told her some horror stories about the CFO seminar. Has anyone had problems with obtaining the CFO stamp? Thanks.

So far there is one who will be going to the interview at the same time with you, she is from Davao and she plans to take the medical on schedule. In case you'd want to be in contact with her, just click on the name listed here, it will take you to the member's profile page.

Walt&Rafi, I have also included you already. As of now, its only Rafi who will have May 15 interview on our list. Don't worry too much, you seemed to have her fully covered, she will do fine. good.gif

I have been a bit anxious about my fiancee receiving her visa so I thought that I would give the USEM a call to find out what was the hold up. The documentation fee was paid on 4/30 and the interview was done on 5/20. Because we were asked to pay the visa delivery fee and not asked for additional evidence, we figured that we passed. When I called the USEM today I was told that the application was still being processed by the CO and that it could take up to 6 weeks from the interview date to make a final decision! The interesting thing is that during the visa interview, the CO did not ask for ANY of our evidence of relationship. She had copies of the pictures we took together when I visited the Philippines. I thought the visa application was basically approved pending the outcome of the document verification. My fiance said that there was no indication from the CO that there was a problem with our application especially since they said she could go home and the visa would be delivered to her. Is this six week time period just something they tell everyone or should we be worried? Thanks.

Hi DW,

Don't stress yourself too much. She is approved. She paid already the visa delivery. The only problem that they are waiting for is the "document verification result", like some others here. Good luck to all of us.

Hi Dwoodard,

The number to call to know of when Delbros sent the verification request of your fiance to NSO is 632 339 2761 extension number 104, person in-charge is Robbie.

Robbie will ask about your fiance's name and MNL case number (Sometimes Robbie ask about the date and time of payment, and branch where it was being paid.)

I will include you in the list. Thank you. smile.gif

Recently my fiancee and I married. We are filing the AOS paperwork and wanted to to also have her name changed to her married name on her Philippines passport to avoid any possible problems when we travel outside of the country next year. Can anyone tell me exactly how one would go about doing this? Thanks.

Sincerely,

I would advise you wait until your wife changes status to change her name, there is no rush on that, its easier when you get your C green card then you change it here in the usa and also get your SSN and then change her name. its going to be a hasse with paperwork and documents you will submit for AOS, WAIT get your green card, then change your name, remember all the documents you will submit will have her name on it, its just going to be easier.
She can have a new passport with your name on it from Her embassy in a week, just finish with AOS before you incure more bills and investigations.Remember she has no legal USA documentations yet, so you might have a few bumps,no State ID and all that, she might have to present just more than her passport and marriage certificate when she wants to take up your name. It takes a couple of hours to do this in the usa, just go to any district court and they will tell you about the process. goodluck in your journey

Thanks for the information. My wife and I had already applied for her name to be changed on her SS card. Will this cause a problem when we file the AOS forms? We will wait to change the name on the passport until after everything is completed with the AOS.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I don't mind being patient. The problem I have is with the lack of fairness. If everyone was made to wait because it was a long process for everyone, I think it would be much easier for me to accept. However, it only seems to be a long process for some and not for others. Even that could be dealt with if a reason was provided by the USCIS. The only thing an applicant can do is wait since very little information is provided to where exactly an application stands.

Regholdsworth,

When did you get your NOA2? I received mine on 3/25 and the NVC received my materials on 3/27. When I called them yesterday, they said that they had completed the processing and they gave me my NVC case number. They stated that my packet to the embassy in Manila was mailed out using DHL the same day. I went to the following link on VJ: http://www.visajourn...=nvc processing There is a VJ member listing the packets being sent to the various embassies including the tracking numbers. I hope this helps.

I got my letter yesterday, I've not got it with me now to see what date they approved it.

So you haven't actually got a number, your just guessing that one to manila is yours because they said they were mailing that day.

regholdsworth,

I got the NVC number from them. It was 2008858XXXX. They stated that the materials went out yesterday. When I checked the thread, there were only about 9-12 packages and only one to the embassy in Manila. You might want to call the NVC to get your case number. They probably can let you know if they are done processing things and if they have already sent your materials to the embassy.

Here's a very informative article: http://globalnation....ticle_id=125277

We called today (yesterday US time) and we were asked for the:
1. MNL#### case number
2. full name of petitioner and beneficiary (Correct spelling),
3. email address of beneficiary (your fiancee's email coz they will be sending her the confirmation email that she could print out and bring to the medical)
4. full name of K2 visa applicant-- correct spelling (if she have kids)
5. telephone number of the petitioner and beneficiary
6. petitioner & beneficiary's address
7. birthdates

It will be cheaper for the USC to do the calling but it will be best if the two of you will be chatting online while you make the call so you could ask your fiancee directly if there will be any additional question that will be asked.

If ever you get interview schedule on May you can post your sched HERE so we could add you on the list of members having MAY schedule plus you could also check if there are other VJ members going for interview at USEM on the same date as yours.

Good luck to you. and God speed!

dbears,

Thanks for the information. I would like to schedule the interview as soon as possible. Hopefully we will be able to get one in May.

Is that what they told you as I also received my NOA2 notice yesterday? You Vermont lot get priority for everything ;-)

So what exactly was it you did to get the tracking number?

Congrats to both of us of course!

YuAndDan,

Thanks for the information. I was planning to send my fiancee various supporting papers this week. I sounds like that I should wait until we get closer to the interview. I will see if I can check online to see what she needs for her packet.

DW
Yes, wait until fiancee gets the instruction packet and then send the I-134 package to her, that way it will have recent financial evidence.

Ok, I think I should still send her the relationship proof materials I have now though. I've heard from someone that it might be a good idea to send a letter of intent to marry. I included this in my I-129F application. Do you think I need to provide another one for my fiancee's interview? I will be unable to go with her so I want her to be as prepared as possible. Thanks.

Prepare the I-134 a bit closer to interview time.

The embassy in Manila has a good website with lots of useful info.

YuAndDan,

Do you know exactly how long it takes for them to set up an interview time once they receive the materials? Thanks.

DW
Most consulates set interview to about month or 2 after they receive returned materials from your instruction packet or a month after they send out the invitation packet, so you have 30-60 days to get your fiancee the I-134 after the embassy sends out the first packet to your fiancee.

You may want to check out the VJ timelines. Select K-1 advance, filter by country, and then sort by interview date.
