United KingdomI have an opinion only question!?
Well I for one was told I was crazy as he11 by everyone on VJ last year when I pre-booked and done my wedding invitations etc etc way b4 we even got our NOA2! But I done my research on timeline after timeline and accounted for any hang ups along the way and our wedding turned our beatiful and I wouldn't have done it any other way! I mean you have 9 months to play with after ya get the visa (6 to leave the country and 3 after ya enter the states)!! Paul got his K-1 Visa December 6, 2005 and he moved Feb 10, 2006 and we got married March 18th! :) Everything turned out perfectly!

Good luck girlie!

I am happy to know our government is actually working on some AOS cases...cuz god knows they haven't touched ours these days! We got Paul's EAD a while back but they have never so much as touched the AOS YET!!

Oh well everything else is going great. We have been living in our new house for a little over 2 months now and settled in nicely and planning a trip to England the last week of March. We just got back from vacation 2 weeks ago in which his dad and his dad's fiancee flew over to go with us to San Antonio, TX.

So now our main goal is getting Paul a JOB! LOL

I hope all is well with everyone and from reading everyone's post it sounds like everyone is doing great!

Just pray our AOS gets to moving along sometime soon! lol

Wellllll, we have taken our first baby steps today! LOL

We went to get our marriage license today and I had a major break down! The lady said he must have his social security card for us to get our marriage license..Arkansas county refused to let us buy our marriage license! ARGH!!

Paul hasn't even been in the states a full week yet, so we know what that means...he is not in "the system" yet.

Ne ways, I took off work this afternoon and made the long drive to the social security off and of course ...he isn't in the system yet and she said it could take 4 to 6 weeks before we see his card in the mail!!

Well I done some calling around cuz I was umm P I S S E D about our wedding only 32 days away and us not being able to buy our marriage license.... I done my homework and looked up requirements for our state to purchase the marriage license and it said only PASSPORT required!!.....Ne ways I called a friend I know in a different county that does the marriage license's and she called the head ppl in control of saying what is required etc...and they told her we COULD get our marriage license as long as he has his passport (which obviously we had) so we made a mad dash from the Social Security office to the court house in Prairie county!! We now have our marriage license in hand!!! So 4 hours of driving like a mad woman was all worth it in the end! PHEW

I swear I am not bridezilla like yet! LOL

Yeah I know exactly what ya mean...I mailed out our invitations last week!

I am picking Paul up at the Memphis airport in 10 days!!! I am speechless! :luv:

After 3 years and 3 months of doin' the online thing with a few visits in between...it is beyond my realm that we are really getting married that he really got his visa and that he will never have to leave me again!!

Ne ways...Congrats to ya Marie and Adam...also Congrats Huffy!! :D the time is near FINALLY!

OH and yes ppl look at me crazy when I say I am marrying a Brit! lmao ...oh well

Stacy :luv:

Awww Marie I just realized you and Adam are getting married 1 week after Paul and I!! (F)

Ain't love grand? (L)

Stacy :luv:

AND I think Huffy is getting married right in between our dates! I just finished stuffing all my wedding invites and will mail them all tomorrow. It all seems so adult and so dreamlike :luv:

In 12 days I will be picking up Adam at Newark and we will be together forever with no lengthy seperations. It just seems, like WOW.

Okay because I am going to have to send poor Adam to social security on his own about 2 weeks after he gets here (us Americans get no holiday time) he just brings the form from online, and his passport with all the visa and customs stuff stapled inside and then if they don't find him in the system THEY go about manual verification? Is there anything you have to do to help them with that, or is it just a different process for them?

I'm going to start moving house next week so I don't want to deal with any more paperwork after that

Okay and this is totally random but do people think you are absolutely nutso crazy when you tell them you are marrying a Brit you met online? I have realized I am telling my pharmacist, my hair dresser and everyone under the sun that I'm getting married soon (I make myself want to barf) and the first thing they all say is "are you sure he just doesn't want a greencard?". I would think NYers would be more open-minded but I guess not!! After all this K1 and AOS hell I would think there are much easier ways for a brit to move to America!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you plan?
Well I for one did pretty much what Rosie did! We filed April 2005 and we had set our wedding date once we filed...wedding date is March 18th 2006! Giving us a nice window to work with. I have had a wonderful time planning our wedding with loads of help from my VJ girlfriends! lol

You have plenty of time to make your wedding what you want it to be... don't hold back because of the visa just set a reasonable wedding date.

Planning our wedding definately helped take my mind off us being apart so damn long! We planned everything together from the food we would have at our reception to the flowers we would have. It has been a great experience for us and it has definately paid off. Paul moves here in just a few days and we will be getting married less than 6 weeks time. And everything was paid for months ago on the wedding...we paid a little here and there and got it all done that way...

All I am saying is it possible to have a lavish wedding in the beginning instead of having 2 seperate ceremonies.

Good luck with whatever all of you decide!

Stacy

Well yes...only cuz I noticed you had:
"Nov 5 '04- 12 month border block put on me"

That may or may not cause you some problems.

My fiance and I had a straight foward case and it took 8 months from start to finish...we planned a 8-10 month window when we set our wedding date....

That is the key in this whole process...if you are wanting a proper wedding....make yourself a nice window of time to work with!

Goodluck,

Stacy

Well on the packet 3 paperwork it ask for your planned travel date and wedding date....that is what they go by to schedule your appointment and then ya got 6 months to use the visa to enter the country and then you got 90 days to get married....i don't see the problem.

ne ways good luck on whatever ya decide to do!

Stacy

Stacy, is that for all consulates...I mean, packet 3 paperwork that comes from the consulate? Do they all ask you what your planned travel date and wedding date is? Joel and I haven't sat down to even think about a possible wedding date. Just curious...

Karen I am not sure if ALL packet 3's include a DS-156...But on the form it ask for your travel date. (22. When Do You Intend To Arrive In The U.S.?)

And when I had emailed them to find out when I could expect a interview date...they told me becuase Paul's intended travel date was Feb 1st that they would schedule a interview closer to his intended travel time. (Paul's interview was Dec 5th.)

I hope this helps.
