US Citizenship General DiscussionInclement weather and oath ceremony
Hi everyone
I have an oath ceremony (naturalization) tomorrow in Memphis in the Museum of Civil Rights. Memphis is covered with snow and ice and the museum was closed today.
I am not sure if they will open tomorrow or not and how it will affect the ceremony. I dont know how inclement weather affects US immigration services.
How can I find out? I called general customer service (toll free number) and woman wasn't helpful.Should I still drive there? Its 3 hour drive for me and I would have to drive and be turned back.
Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo you have residency in your non-USC spouse's country?
QUOTE (kaffy @ Aug 14 2008, 01:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Not sure if this is worded correctly but..

USC: Do you have residency in your spouse's country?
Non-USC: Does your USC spouse have residency in your country?

Was it granted automatically? If not, how was the process compared to your CR1/IR1/K3 process for the US?

I now have residency in my husband's country (Israel). Here, all we had to do was provide our Marriage certificate to Misrad HaPnim (Ministry of Interior) and wait the mandatory 6 months because I am not Jewish. However, provided you are both Jewish, there is no waiting and you recieve automatic citizenship.

The process to get citizenship here is painless.......especially if you are the right religion!! haha! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHolding on to passport after approval
Advanced Processing which says it could take up to 12 weeks or longer according to the website. I was told there was a lot of chaos at the consulate recently but hopefully they are getting things straightened out there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 fiance visa
Helo,
I had my interviwe on march 25, the lady askt meny question, looke on the documents, and eventually gave me 221(g) saying: that "in order to complete the processing of this case" we need to submit "the joint-sponsor's 2008or 2009 tax returns". it went on to state "once these documents are submitted our office will contact you about turning in your passport." We submitted the necessary documents the next day (march 26). Now almost 3 weeks past and we are still waiting :( .. Yesterday the consul send us email said: "Your case is complete and is currently being processed for adjudication. Once the visa is issued, we will send it wia..services". My questions are, how much moor time its will take??? and why if the case it complete no answere???
