VietnamUSC Marrying fiancee in Vietnam
I just got one completed over there, it was a crazy mess, let me know if you have any questions...

Thanks much to everyone who responded!
My fiancee is currently waiting for a k-1 interview but I just want to do some research as a contingency.

Thanks a bunch.

BTW - So states do issue a certificate of being single? What's the actual nomenclature for it? I live in California!

I had to go to the county office where issue a paper saying that they did a search from the last x amount of years and can declare that your single...

VietnamWhat is the safest way to send a package to Vietnam?

Thanks all for your advice, it got there safely in about 3 business days, would've been quicker had she been in HCM, package had to go to HCM to DN to NT.

so how did you end up sending?? thanks, Long.

We have different surnames. There are two red flags. One of them is my fiance failed a Student Visa interview more than 2 years ago. She didn't know me back then. During the interview the CO asked whether my fiancee "said" she had relative in the US during her Student Visa interview. My fiance said "yes". In reality, the Student Visa CO asked whom will my fiancee live when she arrive in the US on student Visa. This is simply understood that if she is going to live with her relatives, then of course she has relative in the US. The CO did not ask whether she has relative during her Student Visa interview. The second flag is she has so many relatives in the US which can make the CO think my fiance will live with her relatives in the US and not with me. This is just BS b/c we are legit and I don't have time to do a fake marriage with more than 2 years worth of relationship. I have a good job and with good salary.

I was never married. She was never married. She is only slightly younger than I am.

It has been a burden on my fiancee and I. She cries every single time I talk to her over the phone. All she wanted is to be with me. Worst case, I will have to live in Vietnam.

I just wish the consulate charge higher fee for immigrant VISA and use that fee to search for fraud after the couples live in America. Harsh punishment for fraud if caught after living in the US.

Sorry for your problems...let us know how it goes. I feel the same way and I haven't got as far as you yet...it's ridiculous how much trobule we have to go through even if we are legit or not...

VietnamSept Interview Date

Count me in as being confused too.

My wife tried to submit the DS 2001 and DS 230 today at the HCMC Consulate and the front desk person said (I'll withhold detailing her rudeness, typical of Vietnamese employees) to submit on the day of interview. Huh?

So is the email notice from NVC with appointment date THE appointment letter? It had a "P4" to the right of the barcode as well.

Hope someone can help clarify this for us.

any clarification on this?? thanks!!

VietnamReview some question.

Here's my experience getting married in Vietnam:

My understanding is that getting your mental exam done in US won't matter with So Tu Phap. They will require you to get it (re)done at the HCM mental health hospital (located right off the East West Highway). I also forgo getting my certificate/affidavit of single status in the US and instead got the affidavit directly from US Consulate. Paid $50. Simple and quick. With those two docs in hand, we followed the instructions on the marriage paperwork and submitted it to So Tu Phap. From start to finish, it was about 5 weeks. Thus, if you're going to get married in VN, give yourself 4-6 weeks to complete your marriage certificate.

Hope this helps.

I got my mental exam done in the US and had no problems and didn't have to re do another one in Vietnam...also, it was my family doctor, so a lot cheaper than going through a specialist

VietnamReview some question.
then you have to fill out the forms and get them notarized and sent to the viet embassy in d.c. and then finally turn it in at Vietnam

VietnamUrgent Help Needed!

so wait the minute isn't the affidavit of single status the same as the no marriage records? If so then why can't I just called the Vital Record and get an affidavit of single status paper and have the secretary of stated to notarized the paper and bring it back there? Wouldn't that work? Also can I take the mental test here in the US or do I have to take it over there?

I believe that's the same thing...I got my single status paper from the County Cllerk and had it notarized by the SOS as well. As for the mental test, I just went to my family doctor for a routine checkup and had him sign it...

VietnamAnyone who got PINK use Van Phong Dich Vu in HCMC?

<!--quoteo(post=2978220:date=Jun 1 2009, 09:14 AM:name=Dai_VN)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dai_VN @ Jun 1 2009, 09:14 AM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=2978220"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->There are plenty of people who didn't use it and still got pink. I chose to use one because I had everything come up so quick because of my request for expedite went though and they only gave me 3 weeks from the time they gave me the interview letter to the time of the interview and I didn't feel comfortable doing everything myself like the medical exam within the 3 weeks so I went ahead and hired a place. Everything came up so fast whenever we got the interview letter that I am sort of glad we used them. But I know for a fact a bunch of people on here got pink with just doing everything themselves without assistants from Van Phong Dich Vu. I can name a handful of these people. Everycase is different though even though I got my pink already I am glad used one because it's kinda better to have piece of mind to do it. The place only charged me like $30 USD so it was cheap and I didn't mind.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

THANK YOU. CAN YOU GIVE US THE ADDRESS OF THE PLACE OR TELEPHONE NUBERSTO CONSIDER PLEASE?

VietnamDich Vu

VJ guides and posts with uscis information is enough to do this. You do not need to hire someone.

I was thinking this moreso to help my wife over there with what she has to gather...she doesn't go to Ho Chi Minh often and I thought it would be a good idea to have someone help with the process on her end...

Dich Vu or "travel agent" that we used was worth it for us. The organization and paperwork organization was top notch. Good interview prep in Vietnamese for my SO too.

Where did you go?? How much was it?? Thanks, Long.

Hey you guys…something I’ve been curious about…Have many of you guys hired a Dich Vu for your wife or fiancé and is it worth it?? And when hiring a Dich Vu, would you hire one in the city you wife or fiancé lives in or in Ho Chi Minh City?? Thanks, Long.
