ChinaDidn't get Mail from GUZ

I'm not sure exactly, she just said they asked for something that was in packet 3 and she was glad she brought those papers with her.

I don't know if they took the form or if they just had to look at it.

She's without internet until the weekend. But I'll try to find out more information when she's back online, its kind of difficult to discuss specifics over the phone.

My guess is the cover letter, which says the consulate can begin to process your fiancee visa case now.

Just a guess but thanks to your mentioning I'll also bring everything that's left from P3 to my medical exam tomorrow. Big big thanks

ChinaDidn't get Mail from GUZ

We received today. It was sent out on may 21st and just received on June 3rd. Who knows why
It took this long

My appointment scheduling page on CGI stanley always says "there are currently no available appointments", did this happen to you right after visa payment? Thanks!

Yes so we are scheduled for June 25 for the interview. Everything's paid and ready to go. We paid with a Chinese debit card by the way, not even hers, she had a friend log onto the website and pay no problem with that.

Since she has the appointment document she's going to do the medical check next week.

So all we need is to receive P3, return it, and get the email we need to take with us.

It's somewhat out of order, but I think as long as we get P3 soon, we'll be okay.

Oh  just found where that option is :)

You can pay the visa fee online?

ChinaWhat now? Need some guidance...

Whats the cover letter...it isnt the instruction sheet is it? Because we sent that back.....

Isn't the instruction sheet. The cover letter is the one that says the consulate is ready to process your visa application now and with your name and case number on it.

The staff at the hospital asked to look at it when I had my medical exam.

ChinaWhat now? Need some guidance...

My advice is to wait for the P3, then sent back what they need. Because there is a form in it that you need to return (something can't be downloaded online), and a cover letter that you need to be allowed to take the medical exam.

The CGI Stanley site is really just for scheduling an interview and everhthing that happens after it. Technically you can schedule an interview with no problems now, but you also want your medical exam done at least two weeks before the interview, so the tricky thing is to get an intetview  day not too early and also not too late. About paying the visa fee, your fiancee should be able to do it now, tell her to click choose a payment method at the paying fee page and she will know what to do. After paying you can see the available interview dates and schedule.

Emailing the consulate could find out if they have sent the P3 out. Even if you they tell you they already did, be prepared to wait for two weeks or so before getting it--I received the packet two weeks after being told it was sent... the same with two other people on VJ. But anyway, it's a shorter wait compared with what we went through. Good luck!

ChinaQuestions about K1 forms

What did they ask you, Makiyo? I'm not sure what she could say about what happened. She applied for a tourist visa to come here to meet my mom, see where I grew up, etc. They said she couldn't have one. End of story, really.

My officer asked simple things like how many times I applied and what purposes of the trips were. I think they need no explanations of the rejection from us, but just maybe let you fiancee think back about applications roughly and have something in mind to tell when asked. And don't get nervous over it :)

ChinaQuestions about K1 forms

Previous non immigrant visa denial is not a big problem, but she needs to be prepared to answer questions regarding what happend.

I was refused twice too, and got asked about it at my interview.   my visa is approved anyway :)

ChinaDS-156; Chinese nationals must fill out in both English and Chinese
what I did was to fill in everything in English online, generate the form, then handwrote the Chinese characters.
I went through the interview and no problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPacket 4 arrived.

I was on CGi one day last week and there were appointments open only July 8 and 9 open (to soon she needs end of July) but ever since that day no appointments available every time I go to the site.  K1 by the way.  Anyone else see dates open for K1?

My guess is the end of July slots have never been open. Sorry I can't look for you at the moment cause my appointment is set.

When I first tried to make an appointment, there was no slot available at all, for about 3 days. So I called the service line (the number is on the 'contact us' page) and reported the situation, and they opened the slots of the first two weeks of July that afternoon.

You should just keep coming back to the system and check for availability, I'm sure there will be new slots open. Calling them might help if you want to.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPacket 4 arrived.

I'm not on CGI Stanley yet.  I'm not allowed on CGI Stanley until she gets packet 4 and the code.    I knew it was coming in the mail.   Attorney told me it was coming  in the mail. He said wait a month though.  It's 7 days.  I'm sure he Fed ex it over night too. Fed Ex goes to ghangzhou.

i told him about the shortcut.  He said he does it every day.  More or less mind my own business.

My fiancée said they are still doing mail and emails.  Both ways.   I read it somewhere too.  I think it was CGI site. That said it. The Consulate  is still mailing  for  packet 4 K1s. At their discretion.  Because they are still in charge of K1s. Not CGI Stanley.   But not for the other types.     It had something to do with K1 visas. And I cant access CGI until packet 4 got to her.  With the access code .

Fast turn around. I'm not sure.    I can only guess  that I have impeccable paperwork.  And a  good  background.  My work history is good. And I'm sure they could trace my history back for 35 years. With the documents i sent them.   I've got pages of documents that they asked for.   And documented  contact with her daily.      I was approved without photos for my initial.  I think  my paperwork is so good that my case is ironclad .  Even with some error, they say its good to go.

Saying that.  I know how to fill out papers the government way.  I used to have to turn papers into the government daily.

Other then that or luck.  It's the attorney.  He's connected. Or just that good.     But he won't say.   All the women in  In Nanning and Shanghai know this guy. She told me about him.   She said  he was mandatory.  We weren't waiting 2 or 3 years.  We get him or else  we ain't getting married.    wow.gif   I know he's got cases in every state in America.  Europe, All over.   He's 97% success.   And his failures are because somebody lied. Or hiding something.  Or was a criminal and didn't think it mattered.

He called my fiancée to tell her packet 3 was at her apartment before she got home.  How does he know when the mail  is coming. He emailed me when my mail arrived here in America.  He told me before. He knows what's going on before we do.   Fine.

He wasn't expensive either. He gave my fiancée a substantial discount off his internet price too.

And I had to interview with him to get him.  He can tell if the couple will work out. Or is scammers.  And he said he knew right away we are serious and are good together.

I'm damn  happy, lucky or both.

You didn't need to wait for P4 to be able to make an appointment on CGI. But anyway I think there's plenty of July slots available now so you can pick any day you want.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmust P3 instructions checklist be presented to get police notarial certificate?

Thanks all for your input! Just to be on the safe side, I convinced my fiance to delay sending the package back to Guangzhou for just a few days, just until she has her police certificate in hand. Being this close to getting her visa, I didn't want to risk it. A few days jump on the process is just not worth the risk. Besides, though this may sound paranoid, if the date stamp on the police certificate was later than the postage delivery date on the package sent back to Guangzhou, a really jerky interviewer may perceive that as a "deceit", since the checkbox on the instruction checklist would indicate that she has already received the police certificate before sending the package. This is another unnecessary, seemingly minor potential risk I want to avoid.

Relax :) things will be fine as long as we follow the instructions. The police certificate and unmarried certificate are valid for one year, as said in the online P4. I think it's whether the documents are within the valid time that the consulate cares about not obtained before or after certain event. The third notarized document we need is the birth certificate, and don't forget that

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsmust P3 instructions checklist be presented to get police notarial certificate?

Hello all VJers!

My fiancee received her P3 instructions packet from Guangzhou yesterday and she plans to check off everything and mail it back to Guanzhou (with the DS-230 part 1) before going to her hukou registry city (Harbin) to obtain her police clearance notarial certificate. She wants to do this to save time. I told her this could be a problem because she may not receive her police clearance notarial certificate before her interview date. But now I read that it's possible that she might not even be able to request the police clearance without the actual checklist from the Consulate as "proof" that she needs it! Is this true? Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Clint

Never heard of such thing, I got mine even before NOA2 without presenting any official documents.

ChinaQuestions about a K3 visa living in Beijing with a pregnant wife
Thank you everyone for the replies. So I misunderstood what the Beijing embassy said as meaning that you could only file a DCF through Guangzhou. If you're right, pushbrk, I'll start the process as soon as I can (though I'm going to have to get a new visa soon, so I'm going to wait for that to come through). I'm assuming the resident status spoken of here means a "Z" (resident) visa?

So do I file for the DCF, K3 or I130? Also, with the K3 and i130 do I have to be in the states? I live in China.

ChinaQuestions about a K3 visa living in Beijing with a pregnant wife
Okay, I'm just in the beginning of this process and I've begun looking at the information here and other places but still have some questions.

I'm very soon to be married to a woman who's a resident of Tianjin (her "hukou" is in Tianjin) but who is living with me in Beijing. She's pregnant and our child will be born sometime near August of 2008 (yes, right around the Olympics). We were originally planning to wait a bit and do a K1, but with the unexpected appearance of the pregnancy we've decided to get married.

My first question is, is there any way for me to file a K3 while still living in Beijing or do I have to return to the states. It doesn't look like Direct Consular Filing is an option in Beijing.

My second question is, with the child coming, but not having yet arrived, is it okay to begin the application process now or would it be easier to wait until after the child has been born.

We're hoping of a date about a year from now for leaving China. Is this realistic if we start the ball rolling?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you're just getting started, I recommend the Guides here. They show a comparison of the visas but in short, the CR1 costs less and has fewer steps from petition to green card, working, a SSN etc.

Okay, I'll take a look again. I read through yesterday and it seemed like K3 was the way to go in my first read. I'm glad you pointed this out, I'm gonna look over it in more detail. From what you've said above CR1 definitely sounds like a better way to go.

Was I write in my assumption of what you meant by sponsorship? I'm assuming it's mostly an economic thing, yes? If my own economic situation was one in which I had lots of money (it's not, but I just want to understand this) would I still need a sponsor?

For China, any interview would be in Guangzhou but DCF petitions can be filed in Beijing or any Consulate in China. I suspect you don't qualify but as has been said, you may petition for CR1 and K3 or just CR1 as long as you have a US mailing address. Since you'll be together most or all the time anyway, I'd stick with the CR1 even though it takes a little longer.

Eventually, you'll need to deal with the sponsorship issues. Have you thought that through yet?

Why would you recommend the CR1 over the K3 exactly?

As for the sponsorship, I'm assuming this means someone in the US of financial means to sponsor? (is this what you mean?) I was thinking I would have my father help me with this--he would be more than happy to and his savings and assets will be more than enough.

Sorry for some of the questions, but I'm just kind of getting the ball rolling on this and am not totally familiarized with the whole process yet. All of your responses are greatly appreciated.

Please look for DCF (direct consular filling). Since you have been living in China for 4 years, I assume you either have work permit or residential Visa for China. With DCF, you file for immigration visa that is I-130 directly in China at the American embassy/consulate.

This sounds great. However, I'm currently on an "L" Tourist Visa that's given for "visiting" relatives, and not on the "Z" work visa and don't have a resident permit, though I am registered at the local Public Security Bureau as living where I am. I'm not sure if that works or not. If so, great. If not, do I have any other options?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLiving abroad and applying for K3 Visa
Hello all. I'm an American living in China, married to a Chinese woman with a newborn baby boy (cute as can be). I'm wondering if it's possible to go through the process of filing for a K3 visa while living in Beijing. I see three possibilities:

1) it's fine to do this outside America and I just mail everything from here.
2) it's not really okay, but I can send all the information to my mother in America and she can send it on for me.
3) the above two will not work and I need a plan B.

Can anyone with experience in such matters help with some insight?

Vitals: I'm 28, my wife 24. I'm a Montana resident (I guess), but I'm an ex-pat who's been living in China for over 4 years. I live in Beijing, but my wife and I were married in Tianjin (also in China, of course).

Thanks for any help that might be forthcoming.
