Unfortunately there is more money to pay. A lot more actually if you count the medical your spouse will have to have and if there is some cost for the police cert, translations of documents if necessary, and if your spouse doesn't have all of the required vaccines they will need those too. I'm not trying to depress you, but I sure know that I would rather know about the costs ahead of time then find out at the last moment. But we will look at our options and our time line at that point and decide then. I am hoping that it will only be a month and a half to two months at NVC and then on to the consulate/embassy. It sounds like the Japanese embassy is fairly quick about the interview but there are other things like the police report and medical exam that have to be scheduled in as well. I just called the NVC and our petition was received on April 15th! :D I was actually trying to get a hold of an customer service person to ask a question but when I kept getting the "All reps are busy, call back later" message I figured I would just check to see if they received it yet and they did! :) Bye the way, the question I wanted to ask them was if my wife is allowed to visit while our petition is at the NVC. She came a few months ago while we were at USCIS and didn't have any problems but I had heard that after your at NVC its not allowed. Anyone happen to know or have tried this? But who knows with USCIS. :( I find it curious that they are, evidently, not required to follow the rules about processing a payment within three working days. This was noted in that report from the DHS that came up in another thread not too long ago. I wonder if you could have any recourse there because they are not following that rule? Not that I think it would necessarily help. :( Also I just noticed this: Chicago Lockbox (as of 2/6/08) Form Number Date Received I-130 1/11/2008 All Other Forms Current At least they update the website, even if its not necessarily accurate.
