Hi. I am not an expert on this matter since I just recently obtained my green card. All I know is that whether there is no income, a spouse needs to file income tax, whether jointly or separately. But let me find some links for you. I will post it here when I find something that will be helpful.

Going in person is a lot better since they will just take a look at the original copies of your birth and marriage certificates. They will only keep the photocopies.

PhilippinesAnyone living near Inland Empire in California?

Very nice city, lived there many years ago (Church/Hermosa).

There's a Philippines grocery store at Foothill/Archibald, owned by a very nice couple.

Yup, nice place indeed. Thank you.

By the way, which store is that? That intersection is just a walk away from our house. I just usually walk there to grab Starbucks coffee. Lol!

Used to live in Murrieta and went to Riverside at least once a week. I don't miss the warmer weather compared to San Diego :)

Haha! It is really hot during summer. It is currently fine still. But last year was like "whoah!!!" Haha!

Hi VJ members!

I am wondering if anyone here lives within my area. I am here in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, within the Inland Empire. It would be awesome to meet new Pinay friends within the area.

Hoping for replies. God bless...

PhilippinesHow did you get married in US?
We had a small, intimate wedding at the poolside of our house. We were all dressed formally, as if it was a grand wedding. Since my folks from the Philippines could not make it, we just did set up the Skype video on from start to finish of the celebration. We just made sure that someone had an eye on it for my family to have a good view on everything that was happening. And it worked just fine.

Just sharing... ??

PhilippinesWithdrawal of PAGIBIG Funds

She says she needs to get about P125,000 for withdrawal. She had a friend in Manila area who had about P70,000 and she paid the difference of 80,000(just a rough estimate~ I can't remember the exact number) to reach the 125,000 limit. Then she was able to draw out her funds.

I do not think that there is such thing as that. I would assume that your wife has already migrated to the US. Here is a link for you to check on the eligibility to withdraw funds for members who already migrated permanently outside the Philippines. And it does not mention anything about certain required amounts,

PhilippinesWithdrawal of PAGIBIG Funds
Hello, guys!

I am not sure if I am on the right forum section so if not, kindly just transfer this to a more appropriate one. ??

I am curious if there are VJ members here who already have processed the withdrawal of their PAGIBIG contribution/funds AFTER GETTING THEIR US GREEN CARD. I tried to search VJ website for any previous discussion about it but I those I found were like 4-5 years ago. And no one has confirmed if they already have done it.

If there are folks here who already have withdrawn their funds from PAGIBIG, I would love to hear from you. Please share your experiences and how you dealt with it.

Thanks so much in advance.

I always use the service of Xoom. It goes directly to the savings account of the recipient in few minutes. Longest time I monitored was less than an hour and a half. You can also choose to either have it picked up or delivered at your doorstep. It is a lot convenient and the fee also is very competitive among others that offer the same service. Here is the link:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of a Bonifide Marriage
Hello! What we did when we submitted affidavit sworn by our friends was that we asked our friends to write a letter stating the following:

- how they know us and for how long
- that they have witnessed our relationship grew (like we always hang out together with them)
- that they attended our wedding ceremony and reception

Then we all went to UPS where we have it notarized. They had to be physically present as they needed to sign before the person who did the notary.

USCIS accepted the letter and no questions resulted from that. As a matter of fact, I just recently got my green card.

Hope this info helps. Best of luck! ??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about POE

To avoid confusion this is not always the case. Your POE is ALWAYS your first point of entry into the US or one of its territories. Your first stop on US soil may very well be a stopover or layover.

Well, maybe it is different then when traveling and stopping over within the same country. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about POE
Hi. Stop over's or lay over's are not considered as point of entry. POE is where you are inspected by an immigration officer who will check your passport, visa and would ask few questions as to why you are entering their country.

I traveled to Europe by entering Germany and my connecting flight was in Doha, Qatar. I did not need visa for Qatar as I was just passing thru and Germany was my POE.

I think you are just getting confused because Guam is part of US. But don't be..

Hope I was able to help. Happy Easter weekend!

(You may also Google the term POINT OF ENTRY to get more clarification on this subject)

Hi. You won't be having issues whether you have the new and old passport. All they just require is that it should be unexpired and has enough blank pages.

The first response is very true. There is indeed no deadline for the AOS application; but the sooner, the better so that it won't hamper you with anything that you may plan on doing along the way. Best of luck!

thanks Tuti & Baher..

i was wondering if u got ur case complete or not yet?

Did you already make a payment? If you did, you would need the bar-coded sheet you got when you made it. (Very Important not to send your documents without it)

you have to send them through ordinary mail and you can also have a cover letter if you like.

Your country isn't EP (Electronic processing) so email is not an option for you . You will mail it in with your bar-coded cover page from the payment portal. You can add a cover letter if you like also.

It would always be best to have your medical ahead of time so that in the event that there will be problems along the way you have enough time to treat it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 November 2012 filers

Yes it takes a long time. Could be ~6 months give or take a few.

The NOA letter (first letter that came for you on Nov 8th) is a 1 year extension on the green card. So you can get drivers license renewed and other things like that extended. Working is also not a problem.

Thank you for your reply! I had no idea it could take so long....I figured 3 months would be long enough but I apparently thought wrong. Again, thank you. I am glad to know it's not uncommon!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 November 2012 filers
Hello......I am new here and was wondering if anyone can provide some insight?

We filed the I-751 paperwork back in October 2012 (I cannot remember when it was sent in, I haven't been keeping tack  - bad me). UCIS received our packet November 2, 2012, we received our I-797C NOA paper on November 8, 2012 and had our biometrics appointment on November 29, 2012. Since then we haven't heard anything or received anymore paperwork. Is this normal? My husbands green card expired November 22, 2012 and we are growing anxious. I called UCIS this morning and just got an automated system....couldn't figure out how to talk to a human!

Thank you for any information you can provide!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRFE questions

He filed married, but seperately. We were about to file jointly but my mom called me saying she accidently filed me as an dependent. So I didn't file with my husband for that reason. Apparently, my mother did NOT file me as an depedent. The IRS sent me a letter and form to explain why I did not file my 2010 taxes because the Board of Nursing sent my records in saying I'm a new R.N. that may have possibly worked. I didn't work at all for that entire year so I replied back with the approriate answers.

Now, should I explain in the letter why I didn't file any 2010 taxes, but my husband did, similar to my above reasonings? and how?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRFE questions

Hello!

I'm putting together a RFE packet to send out soon. So far they've asked more more financial records and our 2010 taxes.

We filed seperately with our 2010 taxes because I wasn't working and it was our first taxes filed together. So we didn't know what we were doing, unfortunately.

They have our 2011 tax transcripts along with bills, car insurance, etc with both of our names.

Now, before sending our 751 we didn't have a joint account. Because we didn't need one with our then financial status and living conditions. It was just easier for me to pay for major things  (rent, bills), and have my husband pay for everything else (gas, groceries, etc.). Plus he has a lot of student loans to pay off.

For my RFE packet, I have all our joint statements since we've opened it plus our 2012 tax transcript. Now, do we need to add a letter to explain about our 2010 taxes? How should I word it?

I feel so frustrated, we had such a smoother intereview for the conditional GC interview, in out in 10 minutes with instant approval. We're college sweet hearts and I've been in the US since I was 3 years old. We don't have any assets and are not well-off people, thus the lack of financial inter-mingling. Help!
