IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations.
I just e-mailed with my embassy and they told me the same thing, the translations must be in english...
So now I gotta find a new translator...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTranslations.
Since the policerecords isn´t filed with the I-130 it doesnt really matter what the USCIS-requirements regarding translations are right?
And the papers sent at the NVC-stage should be able to be in the official language of where the embassy is right?

I´m having a hard time finding a certified german-english translator in Sweden...that´s why I would really like it if it was enough to translate it into swedish.

Thanks for all input so far!

I´m from Sweden but I lived in Germany for 2 years (after the age of 16) and as I can understand it I have to get the poliserecords from there to.
My question is, do I have to translate the documents in to english or is it ok if I translate them into Swedish since that´s where the embassy where I have to go to the interview is?
Thankful for answers!!

* All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.

* The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the: Translation is accurate, and Translator is competent to translate.

That´s what I read, that it´s ok if the documents are translated into swedish. I also read that " Also, many sources say it's not necessary to translate, if the documents are in the language of the embassy where the interview will take place".
Are these reliable sources or will I have to translate them into english?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures~~Big News~~
Congrats!!!!!

I think, someone else please correct me if I´m wrong, to be able to AOS, the non citizen has to be able to prove that he came to the US without the intent to get married.
If that can´t be proven you guys will have to do either the K3 or CR-1 and he´ll have to go home to Australia during the process.

All the best to you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresName change
I can´t really tell you if this is the right way to go but this is what I´m planning on doing.

I am also getting married in the US and taking my future husbands name. I´ll be filing everything in my new name, going back to Sweden and changing it legally. When you send the I-130 in there are no documents where you need to prove your name,it all comes later, at the NVC-stage and the name-change should be done by then.
There is a part on the I-130 where you fill out your maiden name aswell.

As I said, this is the way I´m doing it based on what I´v been reading.

Hope you´ll have a fast journey!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother G-325a Question.
QUOTE (Otto und Karin @ Aug 10 2009, 08:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You want to create an employment history for the previous 5 years. If you were never employed and were a student that entire time - simply put the "from" and "too" dates and write "Student." There is no real wrong answer here - just be sure to show a history for the past 5 years and do not leave any unexplained gaps. (If that helps.)

As for the supplement sheet(s) - we used the same sheet to supplement several questions (we used the available space provided, the made the annotation "See Supplement Sheet for more") - just be clear which questions are being responded to.

Thank you! You are really helping me out with all my questions and I hope you know how much I appreciate it!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother G-325a Question.
I have more questions about filling out the G-325a,hope someone would be so kind to help me out.

I am currently not employed since I´m studying, how do I fill out the employment history in regards to that? Do I write NONE on the first line and then student on the second where they want the specified occupation? Or do I just accept being "just" unemployed?

For the attachment sheets I will have to send with since I can´t fit either employment or residence history on the original page, do I put them both on the same attachement sheet or on separate sheets?
Should I write what I can fit on the original page on it or just write it all on the attachement sheet?

Lots of questions and I hope someone can shed some light on them for me.

Thanks for all your help so far!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCouple of questions in regards to I-130
I can answer the last one atleast, for the I130 package the birth- and marriage certificate should be copies, the USCIS doesn´t return any documents to you.

For the number of copies there has been some confusion about how many to send in since they have released a new one paged version. Not sure if you should send in just the one or four. Previous versions of the G-325a form is valid to so if you are uncertain, like I am, find the four paged version and send all pages in. I think the version here on VJ is the version with 4 pages.

For the affidavits I don´t think they have to be notarized, someone who sent them in you be able to answer this better for you.

Good luck on your journey!

How many copies of G-325 did you guys include in your I-130 document pack? I thought it said in the USCIS I-130 instructions that we should submit one copy each of the wife and husband's G-325. I was looking for instructions about how many copies but couldn't finy any. Did I miss something?

Or should I use a and o instead of the swedish å, ä and ö?

I think, you have to write it down only for your name, there's a space provided if your name was written other than the english alphabet.

Yeah, but how should I spell for example my dads name in the application? With the swedish Ö or not? This is what´s confusing me...
It´s feels like I should use the spelling that´s on my birthcert, right? With the Ö.

Q 17 List husband/wife and all children of your relative.
Does my husband write himself there or not since he already marked husband/wife i Q1?
Yes - the USC spouse would also be listed here.

Q21. If filing for your husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together.
I´m visiting him for two months in the US,should we give that adress or the one where we lived together in Germany (end of 2008)?
Since you're just visiting now - you should probably list your address in Germany.

Q 22 Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status.
Does he write anything here since I am not applying for that since I´ll be in Sweden for the process? I mean the left part where you fill out at which consular post abroad I will be applying at.
You'll probably leave the left portion blank and complete the right portion.

G325a:

Where I list my residence do I fill out places I have lived at twice, but with another residence in between, two times?
Yes

Hello ,

Brief History:
I was born in Chicago, Ill and met my wife on a visit to Colombia on March of 2007. On June 2008 I proposed In Cartagena, Colombia. We married April 27, 2009.

Sent the I-130 received the NOA1 about a week later. I checked my case number and its on the website. I am confused because I only sent that form in and a copy of my passport. Will I be receiving a package requesting further information. I was reading in the forums about the I129f and the g-325a. Should I send these forms in also? Please advise.

I suggest that you ask this question in the right forum, like the K3 or IR1/CR1 forum, depending on which route you are taking. There is a number of forms to send in with the I130 package, read the guides and you´ll find out. Not sure what will happen now that you just sent in a part of what you should have. You will probably get a RFE for the rest of the forms/information. But as I said, this should be moved to the correct forum.

On this site, under the "How Do I Bring My Spouse To Live In The United States"- wikipage there is an example form for the I-130 coversheet. On there it states that you should write the USCIS adress on the top. I was just wondering if I should write the adress where I send the application, the Chicago Lockbox or if there is a different adress, the actual USCIS adress, I should write there.

3. When do I pay the AOS Bill?
4.When do I pay the IV Bill?

I just had my medical exam in Malmö and had all my vaccinations in order from schooltime. I have added havrix, the new influenza and another polio shot myself for other traveling but had to get a new tetanus. Think i would have had to get a new polio too if i hadn't taken it recently. Doctor said that women under 26 have to get the gardasil vaccin too. What I wanted to say about all this is that the doctor charged 200 SEK for that one tetanus shot and I know it's cheaper at an ordinary health care place, so if you're not up to date with your vaccines, check the prices with your local doctor.

Good luck!

Thanks for replying!
I think I have all the needed vaccinations,or I'm gonna go get the last polio next week.
In regards to the gardasil vaccin - it got taken off the list, effective dec 14 last year. So I'm hoping the doctor will know about that,I'm not to keen on getting it.
You wouldn't happen to know where the approved doctors are would you? I'v heard they are only in Malmö and Stockholm,is that correct?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMistaken about the CR1, but still confused

His trip is a work trip and was not booked with the intention of marrying. The lawyer said plenty of people arrive here on a VWP and have a girlfriend or boyfriend here as well, and don't want to leave so decide to get married. It is all about intention, not about gaming the system.

But your are planning on getting married when he comes here right?
And then adjusting his status from within the US?
I would say that qualifies as intention.
Just my opinion though, someone with more experience with this route can probably give you more help but I would be careful, just because people do it all the time doesn't make it legal..
