US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBirth Certificate required for Interview?
Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are preparing all of the things we need for his Interview this coming November 4, at the Casablanca, Morocco Consulate. He just recieved his "packet 3/4" yesterday, and to my surprise they included on the list of requirments an original birth certificate from "both persons named in petition", meaning myself and him...meaning I have to SEND my only ORIGINAL birth certificate accross seas to a country where postal service is not exactly Reliable... My question is, has anyone else been asked for an ORIGINAL birth certificate from the petitioner for the fiance's interview, or is this like some extra precaution they are taking..??
All comments are much appreciated,
Thanks

hey
my question is about that form I 134 , i need it for the k 1 interview ,, is it ok if my fiance and her sister are my supports ??? or i have to get only one
Morocco embassy

i think u can have only one if he/she required the 2009 poverty guideline .
i also think that US consulat in Morocco do not ask for any affidavit of support i have friend who just came from there with K1 and they never asked him to bring the affidavit of support they will ask u here in US
GOOD LUCK

Ahlan,
I'm not sure if you recieved your answer already but from my experience I have learned that you are allowed to have more than one financial support. The only difference is that your fiance will be your sponsor and whoever else is helping her to support you is called your "co sponsor" but your fiance and her sister will both have to fill out an I 134 form. So Inshallah your fiance will send you two I-134 forms (one is hers, one is her sister's) along with all the other papers.

hi everyone, i'm kind of freaking out here..............!

so my fiance needs his passport for his doctor's appointment in 3 days (22nd) but after filing for his passport months ago and a lot of hold ups (that's morocco.. a hold up), he finally thought he would get a completed passport today but turns out there was YET another complication, and now he might have to bribe someone god knows how much just to get it in the region he is getting it (as opposed to the region he works in which according to them is the right one to get the passport). does anyone know if it's really ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY to have a passport on hand for the doctor's appointment?? is it to stamp about vaccinations to enter the country???? i'm so worried! time is running!!!!!!!! :-S

SORRY THIS might not be in the right catagory... i wasn't really thinking when i posted it. maybe someone will move me... or i'll move myself/..

Middle East and North Africapossible to delay medical exam?
QUOTE (AlHayatZween @ Oct 20 2009, 11:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
damn, that is tough!
what a stinky situation... you could probably postpone the medical, but the problem is really the passport... will it be ready in time even if you postpone it?

maybe best to a) call the doc and explain the situation and see if she will still do the exam w/o the passport...

and B ) as much as it stinks, have your SO do what he can to get his passport asap. it took months for my husband to get his passport for no good reason. he ended up having to pay a bunch of people off just to get it...

hope your situation will work out better!

good luck!! good.gif

thanks! we're persevering and my fiance is just going to do his best to get it before its too close to the interview... the doctor was understanding when he called to reschedule so... hope it will work out inshallah!

Middle East and North Africapossible to delay medical exam?
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering... has anyone dealt with having to delay the medical examination? My fiance is having some problems getting his passport and his medical exam is in 3 days. He applied for it months ago for those who might comment about the short timing. So, I am waiting anxiously to see if he can maneuver the corrupt moroccan system into getting him his passport within a few days; but if in the case that he does not get it in time, I considered our best option would be to delay the doctor's appointment for another week- which brings me to my next question... when the form from the consulate says that the medical exam should be 2 weeks before the interview, does it mean anytime within 2 weeks or does it mean exactly 2 weeks before interview?
Thanks!!

Mamicha

I thought you didn't request the interview until you have all the pieces (ie. passport) ready.

But we didn't go through Morocco.

Please cancel it soon though - you are taking a spot from someone who is ready.

i would have cancelled it actually had i thought that we had no chance of getting the passport before the time of the interview... but thanks to god we got the passport and we're on our way. things are going more smoothly now. the consulate ironically called us and asked to move the interview date up by just a few days which was a huge relief (a few extra days help) XD

hi everyone...
well, we thought we were almost at the end of this whole process in morocco, and that this part would more smooth.. however, we have hit some bumps in the road and are having a really tough time with getting his passport. without going into much detail, we will have to reschedule the interview which is coming up on Novemer 4, due to the fact that it will be almost impossible to have his passport by that time not to mention having it ready for the medical exam. My question is simply, has anyone dealt with having to reschedule the interview due to circumstantial setbacks as described.. and if so, what was the process (is it as simple as emailing the consulate?) and how far away was your new interview date from the first one??
thanks so much in advance for your comments..!!!

i guess no one has had experience with this.. oh well. gotta figure out how to erase it . haha

Hi everyone,

Our interview in Casablanca, Morocco was rescheduled from the 4 of November, to the 6 of November. We just realized today that the 6 of November is Eid al Massira! I looked, however, on the consulate's website and I found that they post Eid al Massira as being on the 18th of November, not the 6th.

Here is the website for the consulate's holiday postings:

http://casablanca.us.../holidays4.html

and here is a web that agrees with the rest of morocco:

http://www.southtrav...o/holidays.html

I'm so confused! The original appointment is tomorrow, should he go to it or should we take a risk of going on the holiday of Eid??!!!

If I'm reading this right, it looks like the consulate lists Eid al Istiqulal (Independence Day), not Eid al Massira (anniversary of the Green March), as being on the 18th, which is correct. I haven't heard of them closing for Eid al Massira in the past. They don't close for every Moroccan holiday. If it were us, we'd go on the 6th, leaving early to allow for holiday traffic. Did you initiate the rescheduling or did they, and did they send you something in writing with the 6th on it?

I just talked to my dad who is moroccan and worked with the government in morocco for 30 years.... and well it seems the US consulate of Morocco does not celebrate eid al massira, and when i was reading the list of their holidays.. yes - you caught it.. it listed independence day and not massira. well thats good, alhamdullah. so we'll go the 6th.

I guess this post is some-what useless sand can be erased..!

This sounds like an obvious question..

we are hoping to be married in new york city inshallah, and i was looking on their website and i saw that one of the requirements is that you have to have a social security number. Does that mean we have to apply for social security first before we get married? We were planning on going straight to NYC after picking up him from JFK and doing the marriage at a city hall, and then going for a small "honeymoon" trip... I hope this is going to be possible!

From everyone's experiences, what were your first steps after arriving here? How did the official marriage part play out??

Do you mean that you need a social security number when you apply for a marriage license?? Because i am canadian and i didn't need anything other than my name hometown etc..

Yeah... I don't think you need a social security... you're absolutely right......

my fiance went to his medical exam, and on the form they gave to him it stated that his history was incomplete. he got 3 vaccinations and some of them were not age appropriate. it also stated that he may be eligible for a "blanket waver" because of the ones he didn't get being not age appropriate. I'm worried this may effect his interview. He didn't have any history of vaccinations. do they give him all the ones mandatory for him to meet requirements of the interview??

He will be fine don't worry about that, that is the way my husbands medical exam read and it all went well.

Which of the doctor's did you both go to?

hey , sorry i didn't respond sooner- we went to dr. khadija .... i forget her name but i'm sure she is the only khadija on the list in casa. she was good, apparantly!
