IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescan somebody explain to me about cfo seminar please?
QUOTE (Davida @ Dec 4 2008, 10:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I did my seminar in cebu. I stayed 2 nights. I flew in a day before and went to the CFO seminar at 6 am the next day. It's first come, first served basis and only 15 applicants are allowed per day. It's a one day seminar, we started the seminar at 8 am and was done at around 2-3 pm.

They will not give you the sticker yet if you don't have the visa but you can have the certificate and receipt and get the sticker in manila once you got your visa. Goodluck on your interview. smile.gif

Those I know who did it in one day without staying overnight arrived by boat very early on the day of the seminar and went straight to CFO at 6 am and after the seminar they went home by boat too since the boat leaves at night. This is if you take the seminar in Cebu and can take the ferry overnight.

Hello. I'm from Cebu too and will be having my embassy interview on Jan 9. Just wanna ask if I can do the the CFO seminar before my medical and interview or I need to be done first with both before I need to get a CFO seminar..?

Please help!

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAre ERASURES allowed on DS FORMS?
Hello fellow VJ'ers!

I just wanna share my concern on having an erasure on my DS form.
I got all of the forms from our lawyer which he sent to me via e-mail on Adobe format.
I had filled out forms on my laptop.
Unfortunately, when I had it printed out, there's a mistake.
I erroneously typed in the wrong date when I affixed my signature.
So, is it ok to have erase it with a white ink or might as well print again the form?
The bad thing is that the e-mail that he sent was on time lock. Which means that I can only access it on a specific limited time.

So, if I have to print it again, does anybody know where I could get the DS forms?

Hope you could help me out.

Thanks!

Im just looking for a little guidance now if anyone can help
My fiance finished her interview they did not deny but delayed it
when asked what our plans were together she replied we wanted to have a child together and raise our family
we are also bringing her daughter over my income was sufficient for 3 but because she said we wanted to have a child they based it on 4 and told her either i had to show proof of substainable income or she would have to write a letter stating she would be willing to work but would also have to convince the consular that she was not doing that just to get the visa?????? i dont know what she should write because if she does that isnt she doing it just to get the visa??? and as far as substainable income i dont know what they are asking they said either or ...do they want me to find a co sponsor????
everyone said she should not say she intended to work that that could cause her to be denied a visa so i guess i am a little lost help!!!!!!

my cousin is an immigration lawyer in new york.
she said never to mention work in the interview. because the sole purpose of the K1 is to be with your fiance. it is a fiance visa. not a visitors visa nor a work visa. so to say you intend to work would raise suspicions. to say you wanna see the US would be a bad idea too.
answers should all be along the lines of... to get married, to be with my fiance, etc. anything beyond that would point to a visa denial or delay for further investigation.
building a family should not be mentioned. if they ask, just say... eventually in the near future, or something like that.
of course in the long run we would have to work and help out our spouses, thats a given. and the consul knows that.
bottomline is... just say you want be with your fiance and get married.
kids and getting a job should not be mentioned if possible.

This is REALLY scary! Because I filled up a DS form saying that I do intend to work. So, how would I answer the CO if he asks me that..? Any suggestions? Ipractice ko na yung line before my interview sa Jan 9.. Hehe

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfelony affect visa?
I heard from a friend I recently met about a situation just like yours.
It didn't actually hurt the petition but on the day of the interview, the beneficiary was told about the past criminal records of the petitioner. (I just forgot the prison record that the petitioner had).

She was told to withdraw her petition rather than pushing through the whole process. They pre-screener and CO actually discouraged her to push through the k1 petition. So, what the beneficiary did is that she withdraw the process and dumped the petitioner. It was actually sad.

I kinda felt bad after reading your post.
I agree with some of the posters here that you need to take time on knowing somebody else to avoid this from happening again.
You wasted precious time and money on her. I hope she realizes that she could be haunted for life on this ridiculous thing she did.
Plus, I discourage you on giving money.
I know it's a generous thing to do but some women tend to think about more on the money than the one sending them.
Now, move on put everything behind.

Good Luck!

QUOTE (DavidnMay @ Jul 24 2008, 11:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi I was just wandering if anyone knows of a satellite internet service provider in manila? My wife will be going to Manila for about a month to prepare for interview and medical:-) she has a laptop and we hope she can just use it from her sisters house but there is not cable connection in her sisters house. As many hours as we talk it would be about the same price or cheaper for her to have satellite service:-) Also the internet cafe's are kinda far from where she will be staying, and she will be very busy doing things for the medical and interview.

hi!
I think she can go to places that has a WI-FI connection such as starbucks, hotels and other establishments. She could ask if they have internet wi-fi connection then she is good to go! ........or if she wants to have a portable connection she could use SMART BRO an internet subscriber here in PI has a new system where you can plug in anytime anywhere...it is a portable internet connection. she will just visit to any nearest SMART Wireless Center nationwide. what do u think?

I just read this on the USCIS.

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

It looks like they have been putting Iraqi refugees ahead of the American citizens.

Since the program began last spring, a total of 27,940 Iraqi individuals have been referred for resettlement to the USRAP. USCIS has interviewed 18,926 Iraqi refugee applicants, approved 13,067 for resettlement and 6,480 Iraqi refugees have arrived in the U.S. as of June 4, 2008.

I'll refrain from any further comments, so I don't get myself in trouble again innocent.gif

I know the feeling! This is the USC half of "Honeybadger", and I think there are a lot of USC folks wondering why the USCIS gives the priority to certain groups that it does. I for one am not happy with the way immigration is run and plan to send lots of comments to my representatives and Senator, about the way the US seems to be flooded with groups who do not have the best interest of our country in mind. Its too bad that you have to feel you can't say more because someone or some group might take offense. I guess freedom of speech is no longer for "all of us".

In agreement here R&M, good.gif

I do think the lawyer probably saved us from an RFE as I always leave something out. I did not wait for the lawyer (admin assistant) to say go ahead and drafted all my forms. Finally, afterwe got the NOA2, she did say to send them to her even though we have not heard from NVC yet (its only been two days). blink.gif

The good thing is, we have little to complain about since I'm able to be here with my Honey during the entire process. I'm twice retired with no need to rush back to the US . In the meantime, we will enjoy Cebu as much as we can cause with fuel prices going up it may be a while before we get back for a visit! wink.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBank Letters
Hi All, I'm one of those too nervous to do such an important thing myself and so I hired an attorney, but sometimes the directions the attorney gives me conflict with what I'm seeing on VJ. For instance, while we were waiting for the NOA2, I kept asking my attorney's assistant, "Is there anything else I should be doing, any documents I should be gathering, etc., so that we will be prepared when the NOA2 arrives?" She said, "just keep gathering evidence of your relationship, keep taking pictures, keep all receipts, etc., etc." I had asked if they wanted to review my draft DS Forms and I-134, etc, but they told me to hold those and wait for the NOA2. So now the time has come, we have an NOA2, and I sent them my drafts for review and finalization. They tell me now.....that I need notarized letters from my banks saying when I opened my accounts and showing average monthly deposits and current balance! I have current bank statements (I can pull them from on-line data), I have current stock and Roth IRA statements (I get them the same way) but I have no way of walking into my bank at this date and getting a "Notarized letter". I'm living in the Philippines and one of the reasons I used an attorney was to act as my proctor, I have no quick access to my U.S. Banks. Is a "Notarized letter" from my banks really necessary? The attorney also wanted me to get my tax returns "Notarized". That is not happening either since there are not any Notarys available in Cebu! Does anyone know if this action is necessary?

Thanks,

HB

Hello all
I have been lurking for a few months and i find this forum a real goldmine. I decide now to become active in here and present myself.
My name is Patrizia, I am an italian citizen but i have been living in Denmark for the past 15 years and i am a permanent resident there. I have been dating a wonderful american guy for 1 1/2 years now, with all the up and downs that come with it, including being denied a B2 visa (but getting it later).
I have been married before (14 years with a Dane) but know i have found the real thing!

Now we are patiently waiting for his divorce to be final so we can file the K1, the package is already assembled but we need his divorce decree.
Now all this wait is killing me, especially knowing that once we file, there will be more wait to come.
My case will be processed at Copenhagen Embassy, so I d like to get in touch with danes that went through a K1. I really need some comforting words about the time frame. Also I would like to know the general attitude towards foreign residents in Denmark or other Scandinavian countries going through the Visa processing.

And one more question: my boyfriend has been adopted. Is there anything special about getting a birth certificate when you have been adopted? I ask because the b. certificate he showed me didnt mention anything about adoption and it made me wonder.

Well, anyways. Here I am .I cant wait to start my timeline too!
Thank you all for the good work in this forum. I hope to get to know many people here.

Patrizia

QUOTE (Bbrian @ Sep 25 2008, 12:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Situation is as follows:

Currently going through divorce. Was slow process but now speeding it up since found and fell in love with an amazing woman in Philippines. Divorce should be done in 3 months.

I work for large company and both she and I are Engineers for this company. I live in US, she in Philippines. We both make nice salaries, relative to our countries. Both educated and she has car, home, good job. She has no negative aspects about her life

We want to be together and have her here with me in US ASAP!!
How long should I really expect to wait from application process til I can go over and bring her home with me?
Is there anything in the process that can be done now to speed up the process once my divorce decree is given?
Can we go ahead and get documentation, med exam, etc started now?
Can we go ahead and apply and have process moving while waiting for my divorce to finalize?
Is it better to do filing myself or should I hire immigration attorney? Is process that painful if I do myself??

I really appreciate any info to ease my worries and answer some of these questions...

Best regards,

Whats the hurry? Let the dust settle on the last marriage before you jump into the next. Take some time off after the divorce is final & visit her in the PI. In fact do it a couple of times. Get to know each other, get to know her family, get to know Filipino culture/customs. Learn some of her native language. See if you like Filipino food. Take some tours, chill a bit!

No matter what you do, aside from smuggling her into the U.S., she will not be there with you "ASAP"! You can'y start the process until you are legally divorced and then it can take from six months or longer. If you have been reading VJ, you have seen all the pitfalls in this process even if you do EVERYTHING right!

Once you are divorced (final decree in hand) just file the petition yourself. Hiring an expensive attorney just pays for him or her to enjoy your dollars. You can use the resources right here on VJ to do a better job.

Take your time, read the advice from VJ folks and if you really love each other it will all happen.

Best of luck.

Badger

Check out the US Embassy Manila website. It has a memo on "Poving US Domicile" and lists the things you will need. I also suggest that you put all proof into a folder marked "Proof of Domicile" and force the Pre-screener to take it. If they had looked at my proof first, I don't think we would be waiting...and waiting...and.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTruth & The Visa Process

We have not been in this process long by the standards of some and yet very long by the standards of others. We first submitted our petition on March 3, 2008, after consulting an Immigration Attorney. If I had to do it all over again, I would NEVER use an attorney. He did very little except have someone "proof-read" my work and offer "bad" advice. The "bad" advice was telling us NOT to get married in the Philippines. He said it was much better and faster to file a K-3 and that it did not matter that I was living in the Philippines at the time, as he would file for me as my agent in the U.S. One of the supposed issues the USEM has with our case is that I have lived in the Philippines TOO LONG! I have been here a year the 3rd of this month (September). I thought (mistakenly) that by having a long term, in-person relationship, the Embassy would surely be convinced that we had a strong bond, that we are serious and not the kind of "sham" they seem to be worried about. Not so! headbonk.gif

When we were at the USEM on August 26, 2008 for our interview, I was denied access to the interview and then the Consul Officer (CO) began to berate Honey (my fiancee) for spending too much time in my house, saying that she was living in sin and for dating an American instead of Filipinos. She was extremely rude and disrespectful but had no grounds to deny the visa.

Instead they dreamed up the issue of "No U.S. Domicile"! They claimed that because I had lived in the Philippines for nearly a year, I had no home in the U.S. The address I claim is indeed my sister's house, but I have a room there, my furniture is there, my car is there (although now being used by my son), all my personal belonging are there and it is my official residence according to the U.S. Department of Defense from whom I receive a retirement check and according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, from whom I also receive a retirement check. It is the address from which I filed both Federal and State Income Tax, and it is the address I use for both of my banks and both of my investment organizations. I do not have any address in the Philippines as the house where I live is in my fiancee's name. Besides that I'm here on a "Tourist Visa", which by its very nature is temporary. Even when presented with all this verification, the Visa Section Supervisor (name withheld for now) seemed skeptical. Finally we were called back and they took back Honey's Passport and told us to pay the visa packet delivery fee. I asked what about the domicile issue and we were told it was "resolved", that no further proof was needed.

A week later, we had not heard from the USEM or DELBROS, so I called the U.S. Citizens Service and spoke with Grace. After several misdirections she explained that the visa was being delayed because................................. there was an issue about me not having a "U.S. Domicile". Without ripping the phone out of the wall I managed to tell Grace to go ask the Visa Section Supervisor. She left for a long time and when she returned she said that I was right that my domicile was "no longer and issue." I asked her what was now holding up the visa and she said "document verification."

The problem that poor Grace has is that she talks to so many people its hard for her to remember who she has told what to. She did not remember a conversation that she and I had BEFORE the USEM interview when she confirmed that document verification had been "COMPLETED"! Hmmmmm! I told her she might want to double check that and sure enough she came back on line and said that DV had in fact been completed. Naturally I asked what NOW was holding up the visa. Her response was that "...there are a lot of blocks to be checked!" When asked "what blocks" Grace was unable to provide an answer but said that if I would call back in two to three weeks it should be done! When I said that sounded like a long time, she said to call back the next Friday and we should have "happy news!" As I write this I'm leaving out all the times I was given wrong extension numbers to call and wrong times to call and the refusal to provide me the name of the CO. There were so many misdirections and obvious attempts to detour, delay and deceive I felt I was dealing with "Liars Anonymous" not the US Embassy.

This is now September 23rd, nearly a month after the interview. Since my call to Grace we spent the extra pesos to call the call center last week since it seems so hard to get the TRUTH from Grace! The call center advised us that the visa was "Under Review" but could not explain what that process was or why it was taking so long. The lady did admit that the particular CO who was working our case seems to take much longer than the other COs!

I have written my U.S.Senator and Representative as I think the professionalism and honesty of the USEM is at stake here. I can only pray that one of them can at least get an honest answer from the USEM but I'm not hopeful!

The bottom line is simply this: Getting a visa from the USEM is a "GAMBLE" based on luck of the draw as to which CO you get. No matter what the USEM tells you, it is probably a lie. If you do not get your visa within the first week after your interview prepare yourself for a very long wait! While millions of illegals are entering the U.S. every day, those of us who play by the rules are stuck here.....waiting..........................................................

Me and my fiancee are both having problems regarding letter/emails coming from the USEM and wat to do next.
first thing'i got a letter coming from the USEM saying that our case is eligible etc. and that we may request for an interview appointment date by calling the visa information services, and the next day,my fiancee called and i got a confirmation date of interview which will be on jan. 8, 2009.. The problem is that,we arent sure of wat to do next.Plz help us get tru this, should we wait for more letters/emails from USEM or just get going with all the help from Sites?? tnx soo much!goodluck to all of us....

Since you got a schedule of interview on January 8th and letter from USEM that you are eligible for interview, now set a date for medical exam at St Lukes. It's a first come first serve basis no need appointment just go there and bring the following: ID, passport, (2pcs) 2x2 picture, medical fee ($213.35) and appointment letter/email from USEM. Make sure to have medical exam 1-2weeks before your interview. Remember that Dec 25 - Jan 1 is holiday. I'm going to have my medical next week. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow Many Others Are Waiting for Review?
QUOTE (?DanAnalyn? @ Dec 5 2008, 10:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,

Analyn had her interview on October 3rd and received a pink and white slip. I had to provide additional documentation on US domicile. I mailed the documentation on October 22nd and it was received on November 6th.

I called each week, but all I am told is that it is waiting review. It has now been there over 4 weeks waiting on review.

How many others are waiting, and how long have you been waiting?

Any suggestions on what I can do besides call?

Thanks,

Dan?Analyn
