We did not.Our 2010 tax return is not completed yet. I am waiting for 1099s, W2s and mortgage interests from the banks. Besides, form 1040 is not final yet. It would be final on 01/07/2011 and I mailed out our form I-751 on 01/05/2011. I am also a Tax Accountant. We included 2008 and 2009 joint tax returns. Since yours would not be mailed till February, you may include 2010 return if it is completed at that time. I efile our tax returns every year and efile does not start till January 14. Good luck.

Yeah it's messed up in my opinion.. can't wait until I'm completely done with the whole immigration process lol..

Btw, maybe it's an idea to also add a letter with explanation as to that specific question. I did the following (I edited it a bit:so there cannot be any mistakes with people accidently copying my personal infos on their letters if someone copies this letter):

I think this together with the N/A in the A number and the NOT IN USA/NONE where it says 'where in us/immigration status', and my wife stating on the cover letter that the check is only the fee for the petition and MY biometrics, and of course the 590 USD check, should be enough to make sure anyone understands that these kids are listed for the sake of the 'all children' on the form, and that they are no conditional children.

You could do something similar, but since your situation is a bit more specific (seeing the adoption and such), you might want to include the extra documents to that and mention those as well in the supplemental letter.

I agree with Marcia. I was at USEM when my spouse had her interview. We both dressed as if we were going to a job interview. The K1 interview was a beeze. Just make sure you arrive early. We were scheduled for a 7 a.m interview and we got there at 4:30 and had breakfast at Chow King across the street. Organize your documents in a nice folder. The Consul Officers love organized applicants. I put our documents in a portfolio. Questions that the Co may ask you are:

How did you 2 meet?

What does he /she do?

What is his /her address in the USA?

When do you two plan to get married?

it was not long after when my name was called for fingerscanning , have to do it twice , fingers dont register on computer (?) i guess ; then went to take my sit and wait for number to be called for interview with CO; I never expect it that maybe after 5 minutes and then my number flashed on the board and told to go to room 33 , and the dreaded moment has come ;

the CO who interviwed me looked like strict , doesnt smile and and very serious on his questions; the standard questions were there , date of marriage, age both me and husband , his last visit , where did we meet , but my experienced with him is one that really made me nervous ; I read posts here of interviews most often take only 5 mins , but mine took i think 30 minutes , as there are other issues like
1) age difference, I am 48 y/o and hubby is 73
2) I have remamined single , no kids until recently 2008 that i got married , I would like to think that this issues were a factor to my case as he asked me a lot of questions with regards to my hubby , his medical conditions , and by the way my husband was married 3 times so I am the fourth and according to him ,trying to make it right this time , long story short , the CO really gave me hard time inside that room , I was so nervous that there was a point in his questioning that i feel like my visa will be denied , but thank GOD , he approved , as the saying goes all's well that ends well ,a big sigh of relief .

after the interview went out of the room and the lady told me to go to window 37 for my pink slip then paid Air21 then i went out where my gay brother was waiting for me , this has been one hard , stressful and nerve wracking journey , more than one year!! but it was a journey to forever happiness .

I would like to thank you all guys , you have all been helpful and i am really really happy to have found this site ; oh by the way ,I saw enjz too , she got approved too ; again trhank you , anfd for all those still waiting , dont forget , patience is a virtue , there is sunlight at the end of the rainbow , ay ganon ba yun?

I hope that all of you with August interviews get pink slips. I was at the US Embassy with my spouse. Our interview lasted 4 mins and 30 seconds. The officials at the embassy are ver nice .In my opinion, they are not out to get you as long as you have all your documents in order and you can proof that your relationship is NOT a sham. There are no land lines to where Kathlene's family lives so that is the way we would have to go.

Magic jack is the way to go. We have been using that for 2 years.It is very cheap. My wife use skype and yahoo messenger too. At first, I paid for a 2 year plan with smart ;but now PLDT has a good plan that includes a landline and dsl for only P999. You cannot beat that.The service is excellent. WE have a US number in the province plus we use it to call back to the US when we vist the Philippines.smile.gif.

She would need to pay airport tax. It was 750 pesos last time I flew out of Manila. You may want to call to make sure that it is still 750 pesos.

My wife has her passport with visa, stamp/certificate from CFO, plane ticket and all her paperwork... packed and ready to go... is there anything I might be missing she needs to do before leaving cebu? When I left I had to pay an exit clearance fee. Does she have to pay some similar tax before leaving, or is she ready to go now? I just don't want her to get to the airport to go and have them say 'oh you didn't do this/pay this.'

According to my Filipino friends, Asiana Airlines is not bad. Try Philippine and EVA airlines as well. I enjoyed EVA . I stopped over in Taipe for 2 hours.In my professional opinion, EVA has excellent customer service.

I am not from Philippines;but I have been there 3 times. Based on my experience, it is about 3 weeks on the average from Medical at St.Lukes and receiving the visa. Every case is different. We just brought my mother and father inlaws to the USA to live with us. In their case,it took 2 weeks. Good luck.

my wife received a phone call from st. lukes on Aug 30, my wife has been tested negative for the 3 day cough test (AUG 15,16,17).
st lukes told my wife to call back on OCT. 17 for her result, apparantly st lukes called her today to come in on tuesday for her results, idk if its a good sign or bad sign. anyone , help? plss. thanxx

ive heard that if st. lukes called before the 2 months are up then its most likely positive, I HOPE NOT =(

As a Mathematician and an accountant, I would say that your chances of being in the USA before June is very good. Just pray for NO RFES. Good luck.

Hi Guys,

So I called last week to USCIS since my 5 months got over, they gave me a confirmation number and said someone will contact you within "30 days".

I got an email from USCIS today saying they received my special request and it is currently "under review" and they will respond to me in "60 days" - what the hell is this? So now I am suppose to screw myself for another 60 days???

Did anyone got an email like this???

Do not panic. You would certainly get RFE ( Request for Evidence) notice in the mail very soon. You should start gathering the evidence right now: so that you can mail it back immediately. This may set you back a week or 2 .


You will get a reply requesting addional information (RFE). Do not just mail evidence w/o the RFE notice as they will not be able to relate it to your original filing. No harm other than delaying the process.

Go to your portal and look up your consulate with its requirements. They can vary from country to country.
Keep in mind you will also need the NOA2 when you file for AOS.
The letter of intent was for the I-129F application. We did not need it for the K1.
You should be able to find answers to all of these questions from within your portal.

I am sorry to hear of your situation. Like everyone is saying,I do not believe there is anyway you can get around meeting in person within the last 2 years before filing. I understand that you are sad. Please make sure that attorney is not a crook . Ask for references before hiring this attorney. Like others have said,your best bet at this is to have your spouse to come back to the Philippines and
1.keep his ticket and boarding pass to show as proof
2.take lots of pictures with you and your relatives
3.write a good Letter of intent to marry you within 90 days of arriving here in the USA. --signed by you and him and possibly a witness
4.Uscis is very strict with that 90days. I know a person that got married on the 91st day. Technically,she was out of status on the 91st day and that created some problems.

Have you tried pulling out the forms and going through them with your father, pointing out the points that Jim makes about medical insurance and that his wage may not be enough to support him AND a wife, and ask him how he will get round any shortfall? Is he capable of or willing to work? Is his new wife? Does she have a pension or savings that will bolster your dad's income? Can it be received in the US?

I think, in view of the fact that someone will be required to co- or joint sponsor in order to meet the financial support criteria, he AND they need to know if they are likely to be on the hook and whether they are willing to proceed.

It's all well and good to say he's entitled to be happy in his retirement, but not if it's at someone else's reluctant expense .. and at least one of his children has expressed concern. Age doesn't entitle people to show less fiscal responsibility.

Please tell your husband to file form 1040x (Amended tax return for Federal and his State. If he is in CA, he needs to file 540x for the state. If he is in a different state,then he need to file the appropriate one for that state.Good luck. You would need copies of tax returns when you go to American Embassy on Roxas Blvd. in Manila when you go to your interview. Good luck.
